When I seen him at Mr. smalls in Pittsburgh he said this roofer he knew had a method head working for him and he would take the ladder away when he would go get his fix on. He explained it right before he played it. The crowed was laughing there asses off as I also.
I was just thinking that cause I was listening to that one and it reminded me of this one so I put this one on. this one is way heavier though it's fuckin tits.
I saw him and the gang play this on the tour in Eureka CA at the Municipal crap hole, thankfully I was up at the stage in the ears don't give a fuck what the rest of the crowd hears place. Great concert...and I'm an old fuck.
It’s about crystal meth.. most of his songs involving drugs are. He clearly used to do it, or else he wouldn’t be able to so cleverly describe the tweeker experience to a T.. he came from the speed capital of the 80s/90s, Cali...
Douche Vader I don’t thinks he’s done meth but I think he grew up around it, also someone has said that during a show he explained the what the song is about, it’s about a carpenter he used to know
Saw in Asheville, NC a few years ago. Was lookin forward to seeing Brain play live for once but to my surprise, Herb was back drumming for them. The band was awsome but the crowd was full of stupid ass people that kept throwing shit on stage and pissed Les off so honestly I think the show could have been better but I do not fault the band at all for it. If ya got a lame crowd it's hard to give them your all.
Definitely meth.. “up on the roof again” is being jacked up high all the way to the roof.. not coming down for anything else. “Please don’t take my lighter away” you need a lighter to smoke meth, and with that addiction you’re constantly doing it. Drag by the shorter hairs, drag damn near everywhere.. also speed. All you think about and it makes you feel like you got a car battery hooked up to your ears. And since you never sleep the Jones is always calling...
The jones comes in late at night It hits with a terrible bite They don't come knockin' on my door Or slink across the greasy floor I'm up on the roof again Watchin' the sparklers dance and play Up on the roof again Please don't take my ladder away(3x) The jones it likes to call my name Ain't got no one else for to blame It grabs me by the shorty hairs And drags me damn near everywhere I'm up on the roof again Watchin' the sparklers dance and play Up on the roof again Please don't take my ladder away(3x)
The groove of this song sounds like Kiss of the Magnetar by a tiny little band called Planetoid, check it out and tell me if you get the same vibes too.
Les Claypool, the deity of bass guitar
Reminds me of my tweaking days back in early 2010s
Tales of a wasted youth
One of his best songs ever
Man that bass invokes fear I reckon ole Tim Burton would be jealous. Les should start making claymation movies !!!
hah.... "start"
thank you leslie for this song, the bass is just glorious
FROGressive rock

I was just thinking that cause I was listening to that one and it reminded me of this one so I put this one on. this one is way heavier though it's fuckin tits.
17 people are constantly being grabbed by the shorty hairs and dragged damn near everywhere.
I looked up Les Claypool messes up and nothing came up.

Les has been on record a few times talking about how he's got cousins/uncles (I can't remember exactly) who are/have been addicted to meth.

What's the lyrics about? Is "the jones" slang for addiction to heroin maybe?
Chrystal meth most likely.
probably addiction of any variety, tbh
No way dude. This song is a testant to our Lord and Savior Jesùs Christ. PBUH. You take your marihuana cigars and be gone.

Douche Vader I'm pretty sure it's "please don't take the ladder away" ya know cause he's on the roof
The jones comes in late at night
It hits with a terrible bite
They don't come knockin' on my door
Or slink across the greasy floor
I'm up on the roof again
Watchin' the sparklers dance and play
Up on the roof again
Please don't take my ladder away(3x)
The jones it likes to call my name
Ain't got no one else for to blame
It grabs me by the shorty hairs
And drags me damn near everywhere
I'm up on the roof again
Watchin' the sparklers dance and play
Up on the roof again
Please don't take my ladder away(3x)
