This is the best and most accurate Sharkticon figure to date. Yeah, he might not be the best SS 86 figure, but he is still a great figure and the transformation is fun. Anyway, great video.
You know growing up, I never understood why it was called a "Shark"-ticon as it does not look like any shark I can think of. It looks more like a walking deep sea angler fish without the lure, with tiny T-rex arms. However, for this mold, the head becomes the tongue. The way the spikes stick out from the head, it has that look like the ancient shark Helicoprion with its saw tooth tongue. Now the Terrorcon Rippersnapper has more of a look of a walking land shark.
This little guy is so much fun. In person, he just has this presence to him, which I attribute to the wonderful paint and color choice. Also, I love his little boots; they are adorable. Definitely not a perfect figure, but I really don’t care. He’s silly and cute, and that’s what I want out of a sharkticon.
I'm glad people really respond to those. I didn't do them for a long while because I didn't think they would translate, but now I know people love them.
I love this figure, it screams 80s and it brings me joy with how silly the design is. Whats funny is if you stand it up in shark mode on the legs, you can make something hilariously cursed. "Please sir, may i have an energon goodie?"

Wow, I wasn’t expecting him to be this good. Hope I can find one. Side note, I could have sworn you did a Waspinator review. Guess I remembered something wrong. I actually saw Waspinator at the store a few days ago and passed on him since the Thrilling 30 figure still looks good on my Beast Wars shelf. Hope I don’t wind up regretting that when you do get a chance to review Waspinator.
Dang I had no real interest in this figure before but I’m definitely gonna be on the lookout now. Anything that can be compared to Triggerhappy is definitely a seal of approval in my book.
I will say the Transformation is not as good as the Triggerhappy's but it's still very good fun. It's just that's one of the coolest and most fun Transformations of the last several years. He's probably the figure I'm most likely to flip back and forward between modes if I just want to Transform something.
Hey, from the future here in 2024, and I NEVER saw this guy in the wild. Kinda forgot he existed, then he pops up on a random Amazon search for 20.99. Figured why not, and 100% agree. He's not flashy, but everything looks GOOD. He's that nice middle ground that he does a few things great, but suffers elsewhere, but does everything good enough that you just easily overlook tiny quibbles. Nice, solid, complete figure.
I think this is the only video we get to see you transform the figure at normal speed, not counting Rattrap. Also, I agree that as long as the figure captures the spirit of the character, it really doesn't need to be show accurate. He looks great in both modes.
Honestly, I love this little thing, he's so good compared to the Titans returns figure, great video as always Toaster approved (Also I actually found this guy in stores)
Y'know what'd be hilarious? If it was revealed they were ALL named Gnaw but it's like the Marklar from South Park where, despite looking alike & sharing the same handle, they're able to tell each other apart with zero issue.

I too, call it Sharkticon rather than Gnaw. As he's more fitting as a army rather than an individual. But speaking of it as an individual figure. The molded/sculpted design of it looks great in both robot and shark piranha mode. Coloration is spot on. And compared to the SS86 toy and G1 movie/cartoon character model, it has that it is but it isn't accurate effect. Which is cool. Despite some small issues, it's done what its set out to be, a Sharkticon for the Quintessons. Which is also cool, since he's the first Quintesson aligned character for Studio Series, and the first Gnaw figure to be label a Quintesson rather than Decepticon. I really enjoy having this little dude. And yeah, I'm troop building these Sharkticons. One box at a time. How many am I getting you may ask, does this answer your question 1:41. I'm kidding. Can you imagine someone going that far. There won't be any left for the rest of us. All seriousness, Studio Series 86 Danny Devito- I mean Gnaw the Sharkticon, is really cool.

They knew we could tell these were WFC figures so they put more time into making them less like them. But since they were already roped in by mechanical screen innacurate detail and ports in the feet they can't just yeet them out. As such, Perceptor has treads.
WOW this looks fantastic!! Definitely a buy, but sadly I can only find wreckgar and sweep in most Walmarts, got two sweeps currently and wreckgar. This though will be a nice troop builder as well.
@@PerspectiveEnd my Walmart had ten sweeps and a few wreckgars and a few other Walmarts in driving distance barely had anything. It varies, it's just ridiculous how the sweep is going for almost $50 to $60 on ebay , not sure how you feel about scalpers but to me they're a scourge on this hobby lol.
I thought I made the wrong choice picking up this guy over Wingfinger when shopping the other day but wow this figure is surprisingly fun to mess with! I'm glad other people are also getting some enjoyment out of it.
Ugh! I have had NO luck finding this figure! I think that since everyone is wanting to troop build this guy the stores in my area sell out almost immediately! Great review as always, looks like it's a great Sharkticon Commander for my two Titans Return Sharkticons. :) Edit: I headed out shopping after this comment today and found a Sharkticon so I guess I must retract my complaint! I’m regards to the beginning of the video, you are not alone. Online stores always get Transformer products first while regular stores get them second. But the issue is that the distribution is poorly handled. For SS86 wave two stuff, I’ve only seen Thrust, and one Wreck-Gar. I’ve barely seen anything was Kingdom wave 4. For Kingdom wave 3, I only ever see Scorponok and Wheeljack. The stores near me are only now just getting Dinobots. The worst I’ve had to go through with poor distribution is that I never once saw SS Sentinel Prime or Shockwave in the stores near me, and yet even though it’s been one year, both of their prices have been jacked up higher than the regular leader prices and I still haven’t seen in the stores near me to this day. They never once had this kind of problem back when the first three Michael Bay Transformers movies were out. They used to have entire rows dedicated to Transformers, but now they only have one section of one row. It’s sad compared to what we used to get in terms of distribution.
I mean I cant even find these on online stores, and Isaiah had to find thes at a walmart. I've still seen no wave 4 Period. Yeah distribution has gotten so much worse, made even more terrible with the death of Toys R Us.

They ofc didn't have guns in the movie, so to give 'em more weaponry, they took the gun from the OG G1 Gnaw and popped it in to go along with the mace tail. Also, I don't think the head just there in the alt mode is that big of a deal? If anything, the spikes on the back of it make it look like it has a toothy tongue, like a duck or something.
For me it's obvious it's a head but if you don't see it that way then you will probably enjoy this even more than me. And yeah that's along the lines of what I figured, since there would be no other reason to give him a gun.

From all Queentosons desighns, whitch one is your favorite and why? Honestly, i forgot Alicon existed. Looks interesting, but not for me. Also, i know you don't super like that figure, but since he's been my favorite figure from my entire collection for long time, I'll ask - could you review Thrilling 30 whirl, please? I feel like it had some modern-esque parts in him and that he managed to look great in both modes with simple and fun transformation. + His gerwalk mode is fine. He also came with, at least for me, useful selection of guns.
@@PerspectiveEnd oh i don't care about that character at all, i was like 11 when i got him, so it was only the design. And, lack a little, do you mean something specific? For me, the issue is only with some tolerances over the years. Even without ankles, i think the legs pose well.
Tbh if it was a bit more slimmer and didnt look like a near disaster then I would probably buy it. Also what's the name of the song you used for the sharkticon taking off
It's the Duck Tales Moon Level Theme. And yeah they could have given it a cooler body but that would be inaccurate to the movie and thats the whole point of this line.

@@PerspectiveEnd I can’t say there’s a whole lot to army build with when it comes to Transformers. Mainly just the Sweeps and Sharkticons. Maybe even G1 Dropkicks if Hasbro ever made any. Army building in LEGO Star Wars is definitely far more famous than with Transformers though. People really want to get as many Clone Troopers and Storm Troopers as they can.
@@PerspectiveEnd For Seekers and Reflectors, there’s only a certain amount needed to complete a collection, especially depending on which wave they are in. I can’t say I’ve seen anyone with a large Vehicon collection before. And why would someone want to army build Sideswipe?

(I honestly really liked the Energon Terrorcons and just imagine them more as a factionless army that roam the Universe attacking planets for Energon and when they come across the Autobots and Decepticons the factions have to team up to push back against Energon Scorponok and his army of Terrorcon clones)
I love this Sharktacon! I got the old one with my Pit of Judgement but it sucks so much! Literally one of the worst figures in my collection I dislike that nasty little sharktacon so much. Then I got the 86 one and wow. Just wow. Now it's one of my favorites I am going to have to get more there so fun. Only issue is that the sharkfin falls out in shark mode because it isnt that firm of a port. Now when it's in robot mode the two ports line up making a nice sturdy connection but when they are apart it really is loose. are you having the same issue?
Yeah, I've always avoided that one cause it looked like crap from a distance. I dont have that problem in Shark mode, but in robot mode I don't think you are supposed to pin that into the tail port like you are. You can, but it puts a big gap in his side, though that probably doesn't bother you.
This guy is legitimately a serious contendor for my top 10 figures of the year. He's just so much frigging fun! Sure, he has his issues, like the leg placement in "shark" mode (which I actually found could be rectified if the torso swivel was never implemented in the first place), but he's still just so fricking lovable. I hope I can pick up two more at some point Also, do you find the mushroom pegs in the shoulders a little loose, to the point that he has a hard time standing up in shark mode?

Well it seems every store around me just forgot. The only good thing is I’m finding some of the hard to come by buzzworthy packs. What I think is happening is wave one was massively over stocked so they are waiting for them to come off shelves.
As a heads up for everyone if you want to army build sharkticons cheaper, checkout the mechfanstoys ones. They’re a ko of the old gnaw mold so it’s not nearly as good as this one. Though they’re well painted and look at least great from the front. You get 3 for 30$ so it is a much more affordable option. Being slightly smaller as well I just think they scale better with studio series dinobots.
This will be a definite buy for me, though he’s not very high on my list of SS86, I’m mainly looking to get jazz, hot rod (if he ever is available where I am or not overpriced on Amazon) and starscream

Its so strange usually my country is WAY behind like months behind everywhere else in terms of releases, but lately ive seen tons of new figures in stores that reviewers say they cant find.

Yeah, it bothers me, but some people view it as a Tongue so they can get past it.

They ofc didn't have guns in the movie, so to give 'em more weaponry, they took the gun from the OG G1 Gnaw and popped it in to go along with the mace tail. Also, I don't think the head just there in the alt mode is that big of a deal? If anything, the spikes on the back of it make it look like it has a toothy tongue, like a duck or something.
For me it's obvious it's a head but if you don't see it that way then you will probably enjoy this even more than me.
And yeah that's along the lines of what I figured, since there would be no other reason to give him a gun.

i just got mine today as well and he is great also a tip you can plug in the fin in the port on the back to secure it in there in robot mode

I like the Alicons the most, I really wish that figure was better.
I love Gnaw’s alt-mode, and it seems to be represented well here. The robot-mode is equally great, no complaints.
I think the Shark mode is a bit better, it would just be nice if the Shark arms were more mobile.

Not really, 3D printed would be rough and the durability of it would be weak.
Honestly, i forgot Alicon existed. Looks interesting, but not for me.
Also, i know you don't super like that figure, but since he's been my favorite figure from my entire collection for long time, I'll ask - could you review Thrilling 30 whirl, please? I feel like it had some modern-esque parts in him and that he managed to look great in both modes with simple and fun transformation. + His gerwalk mode is fine. He also came with, at least for me, useful selection of guns.
I don't hate that figure or anything, I think it just lacks a little, and I don't love the Character like others seem too.
And I'm sure I will get around to it eventually.
@@PerspectiveEnd oh i don't care about that character at all, i was like 11 when i got him, so it was only the design. And, lack a little, do you mean something specific? For me, the issue is only with some tolerances over the years. Even without ankles, i think the legs pose well.

It's the Duck Tales Moon Level Theme. And yeah they could have given it a cooler body but that would be inaccurate to the movie and thats the whole point of this line.

@@PerspectiveEnd I can’t say there’s a whole lot to army build with when it comes to Transformers. Mainly just the Sweeps and Sharkticons. Maybe even G1 Dropkicks if Hasbro ever made any. Army building in LEGO Star Wars is definitely far more famous than with Transformers though. People really want to get as many Clone Troopers and Storm Troopers as they can.

(I honestly really liked the Energon Terrorcons and just imagine them more as a factionless army that roam the Universe attacking planets for Energon and when they come across the Autobots and Decepticons the factions have to team up to push back against Energon Scorponok and his army of Terrorcon clones)

I love this Sharktacon! I got the old one with my Pit of Judgement but it sucks so much! Literally one of the worst figures in my collection I dislike that nasty little sharktacon so much. Then I got the 86 one and wow. Just wow. Now it's one of my favorites I am going to have to get more there so fun.
Only issue is that the sharkfin falls out in shark mode because it isnt that firm of a port. Now when it's in robot mode the two ports line up making a nice sturdy connection but when they are apart it really is loose. are you having the same issue?
Yeah, I've always avoided that one cause it looked like crap from a distance.
I dont have that problem in Shark mode, but in robot mode I don't think you are supposed to pin that into the tail port like you are. You can, but it puts a big gap in his side, though that probably doesn't bother you.
This guy is legitimately a serious contendor for my top 10 figures of the year. He's just so much frigging fun! Sure, he has his issues, like the leg placement in "shark" mode (which I actually found could be rectified if the torso swivel was never implemented in the first place), but he's still just so fricking lovable. I hope I can pick up two more at some point
Also, do you find the mushroom pegs in the shoulders a little loose, to the point that he has a hard time standing up in shark mode?

I've had a lot of Australian Viewers Brag about Finding Waspinators and Tigatrons so you are getting stuff I havent been able to find yet.
Well it seems every store around me just forgot. The only good thing is I’m finding some of the hard to come by buzzworthy packs. What I think is happening is wave one was massively over stocked so they are waiting for them to come off shelves.
As a heads up for everyone if you want to army build sharkticons cheaper, checkout the mechfanstoys ones. They’re a ko of the old gnaw mold so it’s not nearly as good as this one. Though they’re well painted and look at least great from the front. You get 3 for 30$ so it is a much more affordable option. Being slightly smaller as well I just think they scale better with studio series dinobots.
Yeah that was my problem with them, I don't want one of those my self the stupid bent arms really bug me.
This will be a definite buy for me, though he’s not very high on my list of SS86, I’m mainly looking to get jazz, hot rod (if he ever is available where I am or not overpriced on Amazon) and starscream
