I've had Kup about a week now, and am having none of the issues with him you've described. It is actually harder than expected to remove his limbs for my copy, and I've swivelled his joints a lot to test them and they're still fine. Strange.
There's always going to be tolerance differences. I'm glad not everyone has my problems.
@@PerspectiveEnd The figures I have, that seem to be really inconsistent in regards to tolerance and mould quality, are Combiner Wars Powerglide, and WFC Kingdom Warpath.
I've seen reviewers on here owning good moulds, and managing to transform them with no problems, but my Powerglide keeps dropping parts, and Warpath won't even clip together properly in vehicle mode.

Actually, I didn't know that Kup's name came from "pickup truck" until Rodimus Primal's retrospective on the character.
I didn't know till that other video at which point I was BOMBAREDED with people telling me.
I always thought he was named after the crotch protective gear athletes wear in some sports.
I loved that little lovecraftian horror joke at 7:31. Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes that stuff.
Eldritch horror best horror. I think I could have delivered the line better, but I was just happy to get that all out in one breath without any mistakes.

I only have Jazz and Kup in my possession at the moment. Between them, I find it really hard to decide who is better. The reason is both of them have minimal qc problems (Jazz's knees stay tabbed, windshield hasn't cracked and Kup's limbs are very tight and stay together well.) Jazz's overall robot sculpt barely wins it for me, but the play value in Kup is extraordinary (his light-piped eyes, detachable limbs, and Energon treat canister) so that is a tie. I made a lego grappling hook for Jazz, but that is cheating since Jazz did not come with it. Both Kup and Jazz have really cool and enjoyable transformations (for me anyway). Jazz's Porsche mode is pretty cool, I personally think ToyHax labels help it a lot, but that is, again, cheating. I prefer Kup's truck mode over Jazz's alt mode without stickers, but I now prefer Jazz with toyhax over Kup. Jazz is more of a figure I keep in one mode and occasionally transform him to the other, and Kup is a figure I transform back and forth nonstop. So, I honestly it's cutting it close, but I'd say Kup is my preferred figure at the moment mainly because I got him recently.
As someone who cares not for light piping, and who's limbs in robot mode constantly fall off, I find my self not liking Kup, like I do Jazz.
And man I can't understand how you can flip back and Forth on Kup. Kup I find to be a miserable transformation, but Jazz is tons of fun to me.
My greatest achivement is buying jazz and hot rod( the 86 ones)at the same time the worst achivement has to be searching transformers in deviantart
I can only imagine the dark things you must have seen doing that. Like staring into an ageless abyss that stared back at you with the eyes of 1000 horrors, drilling into your mind with knowledge that must not be know.

Honestly, I never knew Kup's name was short for "pickup" either. I just thought it was some weird name that could be a corruption of the word cup.
I always did too. It was stupid because I was always like, "But his backend can't hold a liquid without a tail gate?" When I was a kid.
Didn’t notice that Grimlock hip tolerance trick, that’s pretty cool
I know right. I noticed it because I realized his leg seemed to be getting stronger the further I extended it, which I'd never experienced before, and so I investigated to see how they were doing it. Took me a minute to figure out what was going on.
I really wish studio series would give Arcee a new figure since the Earthrise one was a travesty but seeing as she’s been rereleased in Kingdom it’s save to say that ship has sailed.
Yeah, someone just asked me if there was a movie Character I'd add to 86 and she was my pick.
So I ended up getting Jazz, Blurr, and Kingdom Rattrap the other day, after purchasing an Earthrise Snapdragon made me want figures again. Jazz has one little crack in one window from my first time transforming it, but I didn’t know what I was doing and was trying to force the vehicle together so my fault, and Blurr’s kibble sleeves are floppy but manageable. His transformation is also kind of a fiddle affair, like a not fun Triggerhappy. But it was also the first time and I didn’t know how it worked yet so.
All that being said, I really like all three figures. They all come alive in their posing and I found them to synergize really well as a unit for group photos, even with one Maximal. I was able to achieve the tower of power: Jazz sitting on Blurr’s shoulders with Rattrap sitting on Jazz’s hood chest. A very fun trio that make for a fun setup for my current very small display along with Snapdragon, who also oddly fits despite being a Decepticon. Quite happy with the lot despite some issues.
The ad that's the one way to really damage Jazz's chest, you just can't force is vehicle mode. Sorry to hear that happened to yours.
And yeah these guys go were really well together.
I have ordered a Grimlock off of amazon since they seem to have gotten all of the stock in Australia. I also ordered the wave 2 kingdom deluxe that I need and I somehow was able to get a pre-order on the Takara Tomy Soundblaster, a figure I went to pre-order back in august of last year and missed the date by 1 day, so glad I was finally able to get an order in.

Do you still love them after I put Kup so low? Also How did you like the Grimlock Transformation segment where I put him side by side with the MP.
Yay another whats the best. I tend to disagree with you on some figures but this time I have only one disagreement. I am less happy with Skurge than I am with Hotrod. But I am a lover of the transformation and Hot Rod has a super unique and fun transformation. :) I am also a litttle pissed at the Grimlok transformation. Good job Hasbro you managed to compleatly recreate one of the least complicated transformations. I was really hoping for a more unique Grimlok experience. So Jazz would take the top spot in my opinion. For being a really good figure with a really good transformation. :)
I finally got Hot Rod and Skurge so look for them in the future on my channel. Blindformers will keep going strong and getting better.
I mean I like transformations too, but Hotrod looses not on transformation, but on his cost, and his messed up back, plus I didn't mention it but his proportions are more squat than they should be.
Anyways, I'm glad they didn't Reinvent the Wheel just to Reinvent the Wheel with Grimlock, yes, it's simple, but making stuff more complex just to make it more complex doesn't mean better, and I mean what could they have even changed.
The point of the line is to look the most accurate, adding unneeded complexity will only hamper that.
I love that Jazz, he's exactly what I wanted.
You keep at it man, I went to college for this... well something that had me take a shocking number of classes applicable to this, and I'm still finding ways to make it better.
You too grow with each video.
I still dont mind faux forming. Its not a problem in my opinion if it helps both modes look better
For me the Transformation is basically equally important to the other modes.
7:30 you basically described the chaos gods in a nutshell. Khorne chaos god of war, wrath and blood. Slaanesh the nonbionary deity of pleasure, pain and lust. Nurgle chaos god of pestilence, disease, bacteria, viruses, germs, and other nasties. And finally tzeench chaos god of knowledge, change, trickery, deception, mayhem, confusion, betrayal and intelligence.
I also just described any Eldritch Abomination, but yes, I do know of the Chaos Gods.
This is my list
6. Kup: I love the toy and I think both modes are really good, but the bot mode isn’t spot on and the transformation is really bad. I hate how his shoulders work. Still enjoy the character and toy tho.
5. Blurr: I hated blurr when I first saw images of him but he’s grown on me and I really enjoy messing around with him. Like you, decided between kup and blurr was hard for me.
4. Jazz: love jazz, just wish the windows were less fragile and he came with a grapple hook and his arms weren’t hallow.
3. Scourge: I love scourge. He’s great.
2. Hot Rod: he’s my favorite transformer and I am really happy with his toy.
1. Grimlock: he’s a proper big chunky leader with a fun transformation that looks great in both modes.

I kinda want galvatron and Cyclonus to be put in SS86 instead of kingdom. When people think of galvatron they think of the big purple boy from old movie with dead Optimus not he’s the guy from small Netflix show with odd script writing.
Honestly it is kind of an insult for him to be in kingdom and not 86. It's like rewriting the past.

I feel like this list is similar to mine, but the thing I like about this line is that I absolutely love the figure in the bottom of my list, along with this entire line so far
I like Blurr. The worst figure on a WTB doesn't have to be bad, it just has to be the least best.
Glad I found SS86 hotrod on sale, probably would have bought him at full price, but I found him for basically deluxe

The trivia I know about kup is that Japanese name is a bad word and sometimes he's in the elite gurad or the wreckers
He was only in the IDW Wreckers. I'm sure a lot of characters names are bad words in other languages.

I got 86 grimlock and he’s my favorite figure and character when I saw it at my door I wanted to wait to open it but I couldn’t so I opened it and I instantly fell in love with it

I think everyone feels like an idiot when they’re told how Kup’s name works. I remember being dumbfounded when Thew said it in his SS86 video.

You were correct to elevate cup off of the bottom because the titan's return version of blur is way better.And even though I know you love the previous incarnation of cup because of the transformation, neither of the other modes look as good.
I've bought about 35 war for Cybertron figures and the only QC issue I've had is with cyclonus,his hips are super loose and he'll bend right over by itself if it's not standing straight up and the last/smallest section of the ship has a lot of slack and wiggles up and down.
Man you are super lucky. I'd say I probably have some kind of QC problem with like 1 in 5 of mine.

@@PerspectiveEnd sorry, but i didnt grow up with g1, so that nostalgia factor isnt there for me. I just think Grimlock looks too silly in g1. I prefer his look in fall of cybertron, where he looks really mean and vicious. I still like G1 grim, but i just think he looks too silly to take seriously.
I like most of the other g1 designs though.
I don’t have any of the 86 figures, but all of them(minus Blurr and Kup of course) look fantastic. If I had to choose any one, it would be Jazz just cause I love him so much.
Jazz is a Phenomenal figure, of a Phenomenal character, I love it so much, sucks that it's a bit brittle, but outside that it's basically everything I wanted since I was a kid.

Shame I can't get a scourge anywhere due to scalpers to be able to upgrade off of my old titans return scourge. I hate that thing honestly.
Besides that, I'm still trying to find someone who would mention that ss 86 blurr's plastic looks and feels the same quality as 3d plastic. Mine just feels so brittle and I got it to upgrade off of TR blurr but now I think I'll just stick with TR blurr. Also who thought it was a good idea to have his wrist articulation tied down to his vehicle kibble as well?
Interesting. I don't think Blurrs plastic looks 3D printed, but there are places where it does feel brittle none the less.

Honestly I think jazz is great out of box but I love the look of the toy hax is amazing in vehicle mode. It’s also my favorite car cause he’s my favorite character. But I just needed the stickers because he doesn’t have paint on top of the back wheel wells. Wheel wells? I don’t know car parts, fenders? Jazz and grimlock are 2 of my favorite figures this year tbh and grimlock being one of my favorite figures period
Oh yeah, they are both fantastic. I love, LOVE these two. These two are what I think people believed Earthrise to be like.

I have to tell you this, I have a Semi Fix for Kups Limbs... I used it on my POTP Tailgate because the Ball joints on the Arm were So loose I couldn't even take a Step without them Falling, Get a Piece of Paper, Rip a Piece off, Take off the Joint (or in Kups case the Peg), and Shove Paper in there... But do it in a Way to where It'll Wrap around the Joint/Peg instead of being Under it, and it makes it way Better, I've Tried this with many Loose Ball Joints and Weapons, and it works.

If it's any consolation I didn't know until I watched this video in February of 2023 that kup was based on the word pickup. It kind of makes me like him as a character less. But I definitely like the figure more than you do, and I actually kind of like the greater degree of difficulty in the transformation. Anyway, cool list, and yeah, someone would have to be off their rocker to not put grimlock as the best from this wave. It's just so much better than any of the others.

I passed up the opportunity to get a netflix Cheetor once. Doesn't mean I wont find my self in a moment of Weakness and end up picking up one anyway.
As for Fanstoys, no I hate Fanstoys. Something about all their designs are Incredibly uncanny to me, and what with them being famous for bad Transformations and weak articulation, plus their incredible price. Color me uninterested.
I have one. Might get one other, but the one I have doesn't Impress.

I have a few ideeas about the sword and Kup
1.Maybe you’re brother baught it for you?(the sword i mean)
2.Rub superglue or nail polish to tighten the joint and the handel of the sword

Tightening them up might help a little, but I don't see it actually fixing my problem.

I'm more curious how many waves there are going to be, because I think it's been pretty much confirmed they are doing all the Dinobots as leaders in 86 Except for Swoop who is only going to be a Voyager. Hopefully Snarl is included in that.

Well I had to buy Jazz on the BBTS, and as for Hotrod, I've found he's one of the more readily available, but Kup. That's a rare old coot, and I've only ever seen one once IRL.

The fact that the only reason I'm not getting Jazz is coz I find the RTS mold more appealing speaks of how good SS86 is, and how I otherwise would have gotten all of the upper 3 were it not for that retro preference.
But for the bottom 3, glad that I can just go for the Takara Legends versions. And even then, they're not high on my priority list anyway, except if I REALLY need A Hot Rod
I feel like Hotrod deserves a little more respect than that, he is leaps and miles better than the bottom two.
@@PerspectiveEnd Fair enough, but like you said, he's overpriced ATM. I might wait for him to go on sale or jump on the Legends Hot Rod I'm eyeing but not prioritizing having A Hot Rod at least until I have Kingdom Rodimus, whichever comes first. Im annoyed because the only 86 figure I see at my local Walmart is Blurr which honestly is my least favorite of the bots which is why im holding off on buying him and i've seen Kup a total of one time also you should just buy the Nonnef kit if your not already planning on buying it for Grimlock cause honestly it just makes the figure more of what it probably should have been.
I mean there is a reason he's a Shelf Warmer and it's because he's dead last in this video... Or more that it's the same reason.

The Jazz isn't bad, though the Kup kind of is in some ways. I'd much rather handle the Jazz than the Kup even if the Kup looks better in both modes.

I've found the problem with Grimlock, is that every copy of him meant for an entire Region ends up at one store.
No one for miles will have even one, and then a store will have 10.
Managed to get Grimlock on EBay and he is amazing figure. Poses well and ver solid

I think the red figures are made of some type of soft plastic or vinyl. So that could explain the poor quality. But the question is why are they made of that?
I mean I always assumed that it was to be cheap, but there are good cheap hard plastics, so I don't know.

It's really fun. Not just as a Transformers movie but as a piece of entertainment. It's not like high art or anything like that, but its 90 Minutes of non stop interesting stuff happening. There is not a SECOND of boredom to be found in it.

You say that it is unfair to compare one true leader to a couple deluded and a voyager when at the same time you compare a mainline sound wave to the masterpiece soundwave
The simple answer is I don't mean it in the same way. Dollar value is obviously going to get you more, but when the two figures are of the same character spotting the differences can be important, especially when it wouldn't have been expensive to make some areas like the Masterpeice.
