@@JDHBASS2448 Well I genuinely thought it was at first clicking on the thumbnail too and was very confused! But then when I saw the car I was like "oh no, no it's not, but damn is it cool too and it looks waaaaay safer. Well I want one now."
Couple handy tips for others doing this: GN hubs have a very large bearing, which means you need a 3.06 center bore wheel. Also, have to go to smaller studs to fit most affordable wheels if you want something other than the 15" Nascar stuff. Moroso makes a 1/2" stud with the huge .685 knurl that fits most of the common howe/scp/etc hubs. I used Moroso 46190 studs. Then you can get lugs with the proper seat. American Racing makes affordable 18" wheels in good widths and comparable backspacing that will then go right on. Or you can use jeep wheels to get more backspacing if you need to get less track width for narrow bodies. You just need to open up the centerbore slightly.... Cool to see more people catching on to these cars.... In my area you can get older IMCA mods really cheap. Was just looking at one for $500 for chassis without drivetrain or gears but floater housing, seat, gauges, brakes, and all hubs present...Mods don't have much for a body so not much to take off before you drop another body on them too. And mods usually use a front spindle that makes getting to 4 3/4" and easier wheel selection really cheap/easy. They are ually setup for circle track but since they are setup with a stock front clip most older designs are easy to setup for both directions.... Non offset asphalt chassis are best to use but they don't run them in your area you can find other chassis that can work. As far as his concern about carbs/ old school v8/ etc... Go with a cammed junkyard 5.3 aluminum LS with stock injection if that concerns you and plenty cheap and the weight loss means you don't have to use as much setback if you find fitment difficult (tall driver, short chassis...) - Or, so easy to modify the engine mounts no reason you couldn't put your favorite import motor in one of these chassis as well. IF you want an idea of how cheap/accessible parts are checkout speedway motors....
I've been racing dirt circle track cars for a long time and been a big fan of drifting and always wondered why people that drift never do this more often. These cars at least in the states are way easier to work on and get parts for them you can literally go to any parts store and get what you need and there built to be thrashed on unlike a daily that you have to modify for drifting and then have a hard time getting parts cause it's all imported stuff. Good vid 🤠
Aaron heck yeah man I was just thinking the other day that you could maybe even use a street stock dirt track car cause there an actual car with a full cage the only thing you have to change is spring rates and add a passenger seat and you can find street stock cars for 3500 and under all day long
I love this channel..miss Japan content tho not gonna lie...miss the whole adventure aspect of it..and just your group of freinds and people you know how expansive it is and the knowledge..this channel is the best channel for drifting knowledge..honestly crazy this channel doesn’t have a bigger following...but it honestly don’t matter...Aaron’s following outside of social media is so massive...this this the dude the has done it all...and has a huge impact on the drift culture...to all new subscribers...stick around long enough you might just learn something...other then that sit back and relax and know your watching true masters of there craft at work...
Seeing all the current drift builds remind me of my mini 4wd. I'd put bumper rollers with dampers on them to absorb the shock of hitting the wall and riding along them.
This has been my thought as a fellow Oregonian. These cars come for sale a lot around here. And man I can’t wait until you guys come to Medford! I am so excited. Me and my fiancé are wanting to get into drifting. I am currently trying to convert my old Nissan truck that I have had since high school.
I see this guy rip it at our local tracks, this car not only sounds and looks badass, but moves just as rad! I can’t wait for the drift event this weekend at the ridge, gonna have to say hi to you guys!
My 5x5 5/8 wheel studs i swapped out of my GN wheel hub from my Winters quick change (my rear end came from an stock car also) on the Trans Am. Found some m12x1.25 studs with the larger knurling at O'Reillys. I then ran a 5x5 to 5x144.3 conversion adapter so now I can run Nissan/Ford/Toyota wheels on 78 fbody. Just a heads up!
Look at the Figure 8 cars. They are symmetrical, built like tanks, and have ultra inexpensive body construction ideas that are easy to replace with basic tools. A super figure 8 design would be the ultimate drift missile/practice car. The crazy down force wings on the Super Figure 8's could be removed and you could build tunnels to channel air from the side of the car, over the rear wheels and then exhausted out the back like a diffuser for tire smoke management.
Okey, I'm hesitant to say this IS your best non driving video ever, but this definitely is your best non driving video ever! Man that is some cool stuff!
I live in Eugene oregon and I never meet or see anyone cool like this around my town I have been here in oregon for 6 years now and don't use Facebook so I don't meet people very easily I wish I saw cool people/builds like this and could make friends I've considered just going to pats acres just to watch but I haven't yet I need to so I can meet some cool people finally.
Obviously for the average grassroots guy you buy one of these used, but how much do they cost new? Just thinking about how you would start up a drift spec series to be a direct competitor of pro2/proam street legal chassis. You'd probably want to go to a stock car builder and do a bulk order, have a dozen people get their chassis with a drift legal cage design & space for passenger seat. Leave the engine bay open so people can reuse turbo whatevers, or offer the standard 350 chevy that bolts in. If it really weighs 2500lb with driver onboard, you don't need that much power to reach pro2 speeds, maybe this is the cheaper future.
Don't think it'll be cheaper compared to buying Z cars for drifting ever. But like you said if they started a series with it it'd be different. Building a tube chassis dirt car is like 10,000 just for the chassis much less drivetrain, suspension, body. Source i used to race crate and super late models on dirt.
keep the film grain texture & coloring, I love it more than I can put into words. maybe play some vaporwave in the background, then slow & pitch the speech down too...
Curt would do my fucking head in, he literally interrupts you while you explain a serious key point or an answer to a question he has asked. Some of these older fellas are way too calm for someone this jumpy. Would piss me off so much.
This chassis looks like it was a pavement limited late model or hobby stock before it was converted into a RR car..... Camaro or GM metric front clip and fabricated 3 link rear suspension. Any perimeter chassis pavement Late Model would be a great start. Like a Howe, Port City, ect... it'd have the same 3 link or truck arm rear suspension but a fabricated front clip with rack and pinion steering.
That's heavily Roadkill's Nascarlo inspired, love it!
I genuinely thought it was Nascarlo at first glance and got very confused when I saw it was a LSD video lol

Nascarlo came from our area up here in Oregon. Old road course cars are everywhere.
I remember as if it was yesterday when that episode dropped, my jaw hit the floor!
Yeah haha
This mans level of shade throwing is crazy. I would of told him to get the hell out of my shop 5 minutes into this
Absolutely love that Curt is getting the recognition that he deserves, such a good dude.
he has such cool cars!
I enjoy how detailed Aarons question are, even if they are random, they feel well thought out and relevant

Dude!! I went through that whole thing thinking we’d hear the car run or see it on track. Damn it!!
Curt looks so hyped and happy, I'm really jealous.

yeah and there is a ton of old stock clip cars like this around, at least where im from
Aaron heck yeah man I was just thinking the other day that you could maybe even use a street stock dirt track car cause there an actual car with a full cage the only thing you have to change is spring rates and add a passenger seat and you can find street stock cars for 3500 and under all day long

Because consumers love hypes and clout not knowledge.
Once again, simplicity is key when it comes to drifting
Love your in depth talks and interviews about drifting topics
That conversation angle is perfect
,beautiful car
Seeing all the current drift builds remind me of my mini 4wd. I'd put bumper rollers with dampers on them to absorb the shock of hitting the wall and riding along them.
Such a great video wanted to see more of this car since I saw the videos from driftweek of it and he seems like a cool chill dude
good god that is a bad ass garage with some super cool cars! Can’t wait to see y’all for DW3!
seeing this man pull into an event with that black cab over camper you see in the beginning hauling that "chevelle" is an amazing sight
Easily one of the coolest drift cars. Love this idea. And those smallblocks scream
This has been my thought as a fellow Oregonian. These cars come for sale a lot around here.

Glad to see another Calkins into racing/motorsports

Lone star drift videos looking gooooood lately
Hell yeah! Curt is the man, I love seeing that thing out at Spirit Peaks!

Well I know what my next drift build is going to look like.
very interesting and unique car especially for an European like me. I really liked the way you and the owner presented it too
Super fresh video an nice edit! 💯🔥
That's the most crazy drift build that i saw
Thanks I was following along the whole time ;)
We need more of these...
Wasnt this in Washington at Pat's Acres back in December? i could've sworn i saw this thing there..
The weird dragster pick up thingy is a UK ford (pop)popular 100e,
Curt let me drive this it's badass
i wanna do this and move my drivetrain and body from my 75 el camino. 350 with m22 and laguna eaton 10 bolt 3.08 rear end
That 350 Porsche looks fun
I'm a RC fanatic & a Grease-Monkey...love the tech-talk. Hope to see some run footage soon?
Aaron is pretty naive when it comes to real racecars lol
😂
Yip for someone so worldly he definitely seems sheltered
he puts himself in the viewers POV. Where there's a possibility of first time viewers or a general audience of someone just getting into cars.
The transmission/motor mount is called a mid plate
I wanna be Curt when I grow up
Thats my kinda guy there, the ol cab over would make a awesome tow rig
This thing is rad, drives super easy
Super rad! Cool guy too. 🤟🏻🐒💨💨💨
curt is a cool dude!
I’ve had this idea for like a decade & never followed through, I think it’s time
its time.
I wonder what this guy does for a living
He has so much stuff
Yall need to take it to hoonigan
What transmission you run? For the 5th time is as a Jericho 4 speed transmission 😤😤jk lol 😆
I mean the Driftworks "dw86" was some sort of nascar chassi from the start
I need to speek with the onwner im trying to do smth simmilar
Thanks Aaron.
I hope this catches on
this is the future of drifting, especially with S chassis getting rarer and rarer. I like this
I live in Eugene oregon and I never meet or see anyone cool like this around my town I have been here in oregon for 6 years now and don't use Facebook so I don't meet people very easily I wish I saw cool people/builds like this and could make friends I've considered just going to pats acres just to watch but I haven't yet I need to so I can meet some cool people finally.
that is where i met curt. alot of other cool people as well.
I saw this car like a week and a half ago in fernley NV!!
This guy rules!
So sick!
I had this idea for a while now glad someone did it😅
Oooohhhhh, I've been waiting for this
The old dtm cars never got cut in the middle... The wheel arches where heavily modified.. That's it!
What does dude want for the dirt track car? My last one was stolen
Simplicity is key.
And if you are ever in Washington there's a right-hand-drive shop in Everett in Washington it's called right hand specialties
Yo is this Chelsea's dad?? reminds me a lot of him haha. Curt rules.
Could be... haha
Isn't one thing that if you do it with a body that has a title and vin so now that Nascar frame can be driven on the street. That's kinda a awesome 😎
That car IS MY DREAM CAR!!!😃
Dually s10?
Badass car shed to check out
I unironically wanna drift a nascar now.
What's the narrowest one available?
I see that all the time at PARC drift
Stock car surplus is a good place to look for stuff on facebook
i saw that blue car at fuckin bash this year so dope

Seen this thing and some of his other projects
Best part is I could probably get it street legal in Canada as a kit car as long as it could be made to pass emissions
I need a w58 if anybody knows 😭🤦🏽♂️ and not stupid expensive either ny area
He was right a 45 dollar ebrake!!
If the RPM act isn't successful this will be the only option for grassroots drifting
Ayyyyy thank you much love
keep the film grain texture & coloring, I love it more than I can put into words.

604 gear, geez. I'm over here with a 3.27

Is it actually roadkills car?
I'll take the dirt car Mr.Calkins
Knocking it because it's running a carb is funny. It really wouldn't be difficult to put EFI on either of those engines.
Google search spike : "road course stock car for sale"
Me: damn that's cheap
It's cars like this that make me jealous of americans.
Don’t worry, our faux government is working really hard on taking it all away, so you won’t be jealous for long...
Let the old man speak
A little bit of a flint.
that reminds me of nascarlo
I'll take your dirt course car!
Damn i clicked because it looked like the nascarlo but still not bad
You guys never seen the DW86? If not go to DriftWorks YT page and have a look.
The real question is will Aaron let us run these in pro am??
TXSL
Check out Floyd’s Mayhem Garage he is building a 68 charger version right now
Bro imagine crashing and just being like oh well new car brand
Anyone with an S-Chassis knows to never reinstall the top bell housing bolts haha.
Knew I'd seen that car before..PNW ;)
road kill had a body droped nascar under neth
I want this dude to be my dad
