Nice spot, with the side-creek entering in just above where you are fishing. That bad boy was just lying up against that far wall sampling the buffet as it washed by. Great video.
After this show, offered both fish and fisherman, I think it requires that fish be given ... freedom. Congratulations to all the artists of this great show.
I watch these videos just to remind myself of what the World was like before 2020 and I do miss it ,all a part of getting older "The Good Ole Day's " !
Hey HextyVision. yes the cleaner the water the more O2 it probably has in there. That means the trout will play harder and longer. Thank you for watching. Tight lines.
New Zealand is one of the best places on earth to fish for trout , I was there 4 times from 82 to 86 ...was young and did some fishing , should have done more . plan on going back 2020 for a visit . The people are some of the nicest in the world .
Wooooow. Those are rockets, not fish! And what perfect place.Like it was specially made or set up like that.Be-au-ti-ful sir. Excellent fishing, nothing said to much. Man,I cant wait when I finally have some stupid money to go FLY fishing in Norway. The best and closest country from Holland(bwuhh) for a litlle piece of flyfish-heaven. Thumbs-up for the video.
Hey sportman. Yes you nailed it with those comments, it is a very special place, bloody hard to get to as well. I have guided a few anglers from Norway, they have some nice water over there. Take care and tight lines.
Wow what a great pool. Nice to get good hits after a hike-in that far. I've done the same , having to portage a canoe while buddy hauls the rest of the gear to get at mean chunky specks, bows and reds here in Ontario and Quebec.
Inspirational video. Has got me itching to get my backpack and camping gear and hike into the New England Tablelands for some less fished water. Many thanks and all the best to you.
Hey there mate, sorry I missed your comment. If you go and fish because of what you saw in this video that inspired you, then sir, my job is done. Tight lines, thank you for your comment.
Beautiful fish, beautiful place. I hiked 5 km into some private water on the North Island and was skunked - nice place though. Then I fished the Manawatu in Palmerston North 10 minutes walking from my brother's house and scored multiple rainbows in the 14"-18" range. Of course they probably latched onto the flies to get out of the gunk. You can never tell.
Hey Mark. That is a huge walk in to get Skunked, I would have been mortified!! LOL on the Manawatu, that was a good comment. Be safe, tight lines, thanks for watching.
i studied abroad in NZ for 4 months, traveled for 2 months. There are a lot of smaller trout that you'll catch as well especially in the highland crystal clear waters. Somehow, though, it does seem like there's a solo giant rainbow in every hole haha!
beautiful river and trouts, i also love fishing in the rivers of Puerto Rico for some mountain mullets, snook, tilapias, small mouth bass and some other species. too bad we don't have rainbow trouts here
Teorror87 Hey, I could catch 12 inch trout all day and be happy. I actually prefer the slightly smaller guys (14-16 inch). I think it's cause, normally, I run into more of them in one hole than the big guys. and I do love the hunt for the lunkers, but those smaller fish are what usually makes my day fishing worth it.
The population of New Zealand was 2.3 million in 1960 in 2017 is 4.69 million soon this will be a put and take fishery for 12" hatchery trout with power bait.
Hey mate. Yes in deep water like we were fishing I put a clip on indicator at the end of my fly line on the loop. Then we run a tapered leader down to 6 pounds Fluro of about 10 feet all up. I can fish without an indicator and yes sometimes it is worth doing but I do love watching that indicator get yanked under and sideways. Thanks for the comment.
Great to see hard work paying off on dynamic fishing. I'm into exploring rivers myself. Fortunately for me, I live in Rhode Island. Terrain is easy for the most part, and you really have to work to get yourself lost here.
Hey there it's Bok. Thanks for watching, I hope you subscribed so you can watch me fish through our summer season. In the meantime have a look at this video. ruclips.net/video/5vwKi-CSJQA/видео.html
Hey Daniel. Thanks for the comment. I hope you subscribed to my channel. In the mean time check this video out ruclips.net/video/5vwKi-CSJQA/видео.html
Hey truthbetold. All my trout that I catch back country like this are released. It is too much of a fragile eco system to take fish from there. I would hate to put the massive amount of effort it takes to get in there, to find it empty of trout. Tight lines bud.
Hey BruteFish. yes this is the hardest day we have had together. I put out another video on this river about 6 weeks ago where Alex and I did about 23KM for the day. We got lots of fish but it took two weeks for me to walk properly again.
Great videos. Really enjoying them. One day I'll get over there and have a crack at them fish! Love the crystal clear water and the surroundings look amazing. Looks a bit warmer there too!
hahaha I tought Alex everything he knows about river fly fishing and at the start his netting was horrible. He got it in the end and is a very good fisherman, but yeah buddy you nailed it.
What a gorgeous fishery you have there! And I thought my trip to the Flathead in Montana I just got back from was epic haha.. Can’t wait to fish NZ someday, tight lines guys!
Hi Rick. My best Brown weighed in at just over 12 pounds taken three years ago on the Tongariro river. I have pictures but don't feel the need to put up on McCloud.
Yeah Buddy, That looks like some really amazing water for sure! Its always great when you put in the effort, like hiking your tail off, to get to good water. The harder it is to get to the less pressure there is. Nice job here.
Nice spot, with the side-creek entering in just above where you are fishing. That bad boy was just lying up against that far wall sampling the buffet as it washed by. Great video.

Thank you my friend and yes all Back Country trout go free after a picture or two.
You are one lucky guy, it makes my blood run cold just watching you awesome fish
I watch these videos just to remind myself of what the World was like before 2020 and I do miss it ,all a part of getting older "The Good Ole Day's " !
Amazing fish!!! Amazing spot!!!! New Zealand has to be on every flyfishermans bucket list for sure. Lucky guys.

This by far the best fishing video I have seen. No travel log, no posturing. Actually shows the strikes and no prolonged display of the fish.
Hey Wayne, pleased you liked the video. Check this one out. ruclips.net/video/xIT9CupzFLQ/видео.html
Looks like alot of fun, that spot is awesome in so many ways.
Alex & Shane....amazing video. True sportsmanship going after after the rainbows with strike indicator....
Before I chew you a new one. What is your beef with indicators?
Beautiful place, great fishing. Thanks for the video. From nj, USA
the clearer the water the harder they fight. Beautifully played and gorgeous fish and surroundings - thanks for sharing - they're feisty !
Hey HextyVision. yes the cleaner the water the more O2 it probably has in there. That means the trout will play harder and longer. Thank you for watching. Tight lines.
wow wow wow those fish is awesome, I wish I have a chance to defeat that kind of fresh water fish.

Flyfishing is one of the most beautiful forms of art I've known
Wow what a great pool. Nice to get good hits after a hike-in that far. I've done the same , having to portage a canoe while buddy hauls the rest of the gear to get at mean chunky specks, bows and reds here in Ontario and Quebec.
That place is just beautiful! I'd enjoy being there even with no luck catching fish.
You'd have some luck. No doubt of it.
Inspirational video. Has got me itching to get my backpack and camping gear and hike into the New England Tablelands for some less fished water. Many thanks and all the best to you.
Hey my friend. Well that is cool. I hope you stay safe and tight lines. Cheers from new Zealand.
Hey Man. Sorry about the lack of wild Trout over there. yeah they are a blast and the conditions make it special.
those fish are mad healthy and strong. wooowww.. What a great opportunity to catch those fish and see your rod bend!
Good rodwork!
So satisfying to see a guy that does not screw up. :)
Couple of nice looking rainbows there, guys!
Ta man, yes they were.

Hey there mate, sorry I missed your comment. If you go and fish because of what you saw in this video that inspired you, then sir, my job is done. Tight lines, thank you for your comment.
I want to cry because fishing is our passion don't do much trout fishing unless we ocean fishing but love this wish it was me catching them instead!
I wish I was doing that right now. Beautiful location and a couple of stunning trout.
Hey Jay. I hope you get some fishing in soon then. Be safe where ever you are. Thank you for watching. :)
I was going trout fishing this weekend but the temps dropped below freezing with 15-25mph wind.
I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Hey Troutman. Be safe over there tight lines
Beautiful setting...I'm jealous...Doesn't anyone fish without bobbers....I mean strike indicators anymore ?
My little sister uses a strike indicator
That is my lifelong dream, to go to a place like that where the Trout are wild and strong and land is beautiful.
Make the dream happen Donnie. There is plenty of water over here in New Zealand for you to make it happen. Good luck my friend.
It's not the size of the trout in the fight, but the size of the fight in the trout.
Pretty much!
Vídeos cristianos
Its definitley the size.
Your comment should be printed on every fly rod.

You guys made me cry.....I should have been there. Nice fish and beautiful location

Nate 8 Hey man. As long as you are getting out there doing it, that is all that counts. Hope you have a great summer man.
Thank you. Got a great day of Largemouth in yesterday.
I found the camera work to be well done and the narrative to be informative. +1 “would watch again"
The sheer strength ,the thrill of riverine fishes and the fight they put up is just beyond imagination.

The pristine waters of New Zealand ... the best for trout !!!!
