Hi Timothy! Westminster, SC's town center is nice! I like how their Chamber of Commerce restored that fantastic train depot. The town seems like a very cool place. I enjoyed the walk and talk tour of the town center, Mr. French! GOD bless!
Hey there. It is pronounced, by most locals, Wes'... minster... Only has one "i". I am really enjoying your videos . Also, you are a very positive person. You comment favorably on all the places you visit. Thats absolutely awesome. Thanks !!!
If only that were true. I moved to Upstate South Carolina in 2021 and every local I've ever heard in the surrounding region calls it West-min-i-ster. They even do this on radio stations in the area. It drives me crazy.
Yes sir I believe you pronounced it correctly! Me and the Mrs have been there many times and we said Westminster about the same as you. I'm glad to see it's still a nice little town center. Very clean and inviting.
Hey Timothy. I’m from this town and you missed some of the cooler murals down the street where you turned around. They’re down by the bank. A couple dogs playing poker, also an American flag for the soldiers. You pronounced the name correctly. It came from over the pond from a church of some sort is what I’ve been told growing up don’t know much about that. The town was brought up by the mill that was well abandoned way before I was around. They tore it down maybe 10ish years ago. The old original Westminster highschool is still standing near the ball field not even a quarter mile behind the depot. The Old Mill location and parts of the buildings are right down the street from it also. The buildings you see have been made a ton of different things over my lifetime but as you see Moons is still as strong as ever, a real nice old man owns the place and he’ll give anyone that gives him the time a day a great story or two. The town isn’t the prettiest around but it use to be. There’s loads of old historic buildings all over town and on the outskirts. The mountains near by hold a lot of secrets, from moonshine all the way to slave times. There’s still a couple standing slave churches in an around the outskirts of town that have been redone to be pretty again. There’s beautifully crafted old homes, gas stations, churches, buildings I have no idea about all over. Driving through old Main Street which was where you walked brings a lot of time back but a lot of time has been lost many of the original old folks around town have passed or have moved out of there simply of the fact it’s not what it use to be. It’s worth a visit if you’re nearby but don’t have your hopes up to see the most amazing sights lol. Drugs have really taken over the town the nickname for the place is Methminster. It’s not bad or a dangerous place to be at all but some people don’t appreciate their town going down the way Westminster has. Recent years it’s turned around for the better and I hope to see it grow. Many of the people who move away end up back here to finish their days. There’s still a lot of life and interesting characters around town. Kinda cool seeing people even a little interested in this small town in the mountains. There’s not much to do or many places to go if you don’t know anything about the place. The beauty is still in the mountains old graveyards and historic buildings still stand strong. Native Americans ran all around these hills and you can find arrowheads every time you go to a river. This town at one point was highly successful and if you’re in the right businesses it still is, I wouldn’t suggest coming to town just to visit because you will be disappointed lol the scenery and surrounding area are beautiful but nothing to do other than look. If you’re passing by it’s a cool place to stop and you could fall in love with it like many people around. It’s quiet everything you could need is in a 20 minute drive, it’s mainly older folks retired or getting to be who are there still. It’s a beautiful small town with a lot of history blue grass was strong with nothing else to do but pass the time. Thats about all i can say about the place I’ll answer questions about it if you have any but thank you for stopping by and enjoying your time there. Have a great day
Thank you so much for sharing your local knowledge of the area. I can see it’s a wonderful place to live. And I will definitely be stopping by again whenever I’m in the area.
@@TimothyFrenchNo Problem buddy. If you ever do return there stop by Youselfs kitchen. Most of the old timers still around will be hanging out there, all you have to do is ask about town and they’ll light up to tell you a story. There is so much backwood history in this place, many interesting, funny, crazy, and scary stories they’ll tell you. They’ll be eager to tell you at least their story and answer any questions that come to mind if you’re genuinely curious about the place. Many many successful people came from this town a couple of them you can see on tv. Again man the town folks would be pleased to see you enjoyed their town for the short time you were there.

They did a great shop with the depot. And I loved the town’s murals as well.
