Timothy, Pomaria is pronounced Po-Maria. A Pomaria is a genus of flowering plants in the legume family, Fabaceae. The town of Pomaria, SC, was named after the Pomaria Nurseries, which was greatly patronized and very well known throughout the local region and country. Its founder and proprietor was Mr. William Summer.

Little Mountain, SC, is an interesting place. I saw all the flat roadways and sidewalks in the bijou town center as you walked around, but I was unable to figure out or see exactly where the "little mountain" actually was, as I did not see any slopes or hilly areas anywhere. Yes, Timothy, I'm being facetious. 😂

I grew up in this town and I miss it so much! The building you were wondering about was definitely a theater. My father and his two brothers owned the theater and the car dealership and the hardware store. We had things stored in the warehouse of the street and in the stores, and we lost many many of our old furniture that we had hoped to give to our children. The mold is devastating. Thank you for taking me down memory lane even though it saddens me I love to hear your ideas about how it might be changed for the better. The town needs a benefactor who can bring to fruition some of your ideas.

Lansing is a hidden gem!

I was born and raised and lived there my whole life for nearly 50 years until 2018. Here is the truth: 1) it’s way over crowded, the roads can’t handle the amount of traffic during the morning and evening rushes. 2) it’s extremely expensive to live there mainly due to the lack of pay wages. Cost of living much higher than what most employers pay. 4) good college and somewhat of a good retirement town if you have the funds and resources. 5) beaches are nearly impossible to visit especially during summer holidays, need to get there no later than 7 am just find parking. 6) great selections of restaurants. There are other things I can mention but I personally don’t miss it.

Your videos do not hook much attention but they seem quite promising. I like the vibes. Keep going, man!

All due respect, when have you ever seen a four lane built through a mountain.. town of less then 4,000 people.. why.. when where.. tell us.. It doesn't happen.. I get what you're saying and yes change does often end with unwanted results. But let's not put the cart before the horse Bubba,, BTW I am pretty sure you and I are close in age,, I can assure you if that four lane you worry about ever does happen we will have been off this planet for decades,.

Hello traveler, have you visited New Bern the first capital of NC?

I’m a Clark. I’m a direct descendent of John Hector Clark. My father was John Daniel Clark. I grew up in this little town. It was a booming town in the 40s-50s and busy little town in the 60s-70s. We were known for beautiful tobacco and markets in town ending each season with a Tobacco Festival. It had three grocery stores, two pharmacies and several general type stores. The one still remaining is McDougalds. There you could find everything you needed from seeds to implements and tools. Eventually the town lost its status and lost its police force and volunteer rescue. Now it’s just a memory for most of us. It was a lovely place to call home.

Chapin, SC appears to be a very nice place with a lot of nice amenities. While they claim that their town is rural urban-fringe, it looks and feels totally suburban to me and will soon have to solidify that fact should the town keep allowing itself to continue to grow by leaps and bounds. FYI - Rural urban-fringe is a transitional zone between urban areas like cities and the surrounding suburbs. Suburbs are residential areas located outside of the city center and/or city limits, and rural urban-fringe is the transitional area between the suburbs and the surrounding countryside. When greedy developers and town officials everywhere get finished with their growth plans, every place that they touch that is now a town will be reclassified as cities. There are countless former towns out there in every state that should still be towns that have been reclassified as a city by its local government officials. Smh!

My grandfather had a sawmill located at eastern end of Elizabeth Street close to train tracks. They lived on the corner of Elizabeth Street and Highway 301 .The old church is where my aunt and uncle were married. He was in the US AIR FORCE. My father was a friend of Mac Peedin who was a pharmacist at a drugstore in Selma .It may have been the Creech Drugstore you showed. Before he was a pharmacist he flew B52 Bombers in the US Air Force. My aunt one of my father's sisters was the one who got married. He was a Creech.Wonder if he was related to the Creech who ran the Creech Drugstore?

Grew up there and attended my first movie at Colonial Theatre escorted by my two brothers. The library was off main and the best chicken was Little Mint growing up in the seventies. There was East Tarboro and Princeville where my first memories were formed. We had a milkman who delivered cold milk in glass bottles back then and we got candy and pop from Glennies in Princeville where we lived, then we walk across the bridge ( Tar River ) into town Tarboro passing Doctor Quigless' Clinic. There was Adler's, Pete Sugars, Tom McAnn and Heilig Meyers, Simmons, Florshine Shoes, Roberts Jewelry, Rose's Department Store and so many more stores, shops and businesses on Main Street. I and my many cousins, brothers and friends all grew up there, my family and friends are still there today. Thank you for this Sir! ✨🙋🏽‍♀️

The beautiful town of Peak, SC, is a nice, safe, and close-knit rural community with 53 citizens. The town was first founded in 1853 as Peak's Station when the Greenville & Columbia Railway was completed. The town was named after the superintendent of the Greenville and Columbia Railroad Company, Mr. H. T. Peake. The completion of that segment of the railroad in South Carolina meant that a traveler could get from Greenville to Columbia in less than 11 hours. With an overnight stop in Peak, they could then journey on to Charleston the next day. Before the railroad existed, this same journey would take an average of two weeks to complete. When the town was incorporated in 1880, it was officially renamed Peak, SC. Today, Peak, SC is a popular section of the Palmetto Trail, which takes hikers from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the coast. As far as population goes, Peak is the 4th smallest incorporated area in the state. It's also nearly the smallest in land mass. The town is only .3 square miles. There are 640 acres in a square mile, so this means that Peak is a mere 192 acres.

Great video Mr. French. When ever I see you posting a nice little town video I quickly check the crime statistics. I'm like What the Heck. Crime statistics go 0 to 100. the higher the better. I look at these towns and they are single digits. Where I live is a 54 out of 100. That is very safe. I could leave my doors open at night and not be bothered. I want to move when I retire but it needs to be a safe place.
