There is nothing wrong with butter -- it is a natural fat. Southern traditions have bought into the idea that we must use vegetable oil and similar products because they are healthy. The problem continues to be the misinformation that began decades ago, that saturated fats like butter are unhealthy. Coconut oil, one of the healthiest oils, is 90% saturated fat and does not cause heart disease or weight gain. Processed oils have been normalized into the notion that these are healthy -- vegetable, canola, soy, sunflower, safflower -- however, all of these are commonly ethier partially or fully hydrogenated and extremely unhealthy during long-term use. "No transfat" is a distraction because this merely indicates that it likely contains fully rather than partially hydrogenated oil and is equally as bad for you or more so. The fraud is that fat from meat and dairy products is unhealthy. Much less heart and cardiovascular disease existed with the farm diet before the introduction of processed oils to replace lard for cooking. Additionally, the increase in added sugar to foods and especially processed forms of sugar (high fructose corn syrup containing mercury, sometimes labeled today as only corn syrup) play an important part in rising health problems in recent decades. Artificial sweeteners have also been proven to be more dangerous than ordinary table sugar as an ingredient. The latest is sucrulose or "Splenda" which can create liver problems with regular use. Stevia products can be a healthy alternative and the best forms can be purchased online without additives like preservatives or sugar alcohols.
I moved from NE Ohio to S. Carolina almost 8 years ago. I've lived through blizzards, subzero temperatures, tons of snow, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, springs where it rained for 2 weeks straight, 70° one day and 30° the next. Sure some of the things you mentioned would deter some people from moving here (the "unhealthy foods" you cited- there's unhealthy foods in every state!!!) but not me. The weather, the beauty, being able to go to the beach whenever I want to, the southern people (the most polite people I've ever met) simply cannot be beat imho. I love it here!!!
Your information is most appreciated 😁👍 …I am a 70 years old black resident 😄and friendly people are the main reason I enjoy Greenville South Carolina (Furman University area)
Cool I’m from Beaufort South Carolina . My moms a 50+ year Scottish mixed race resident and she said she would not chose another state . I wish I was down there right now because it’s too cold here. It’s almost always cold here in Ohio. and we have tornadoes coming. A bunch of them. Thankfully we are okay. I miss my mom a lot ? But moving is too expensive right now even if your just moving back in with a family member.
I’m in Ohio and the housing market here over the last 7-8 years is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Homes that were bought for $130K in 2015 are now being sold for $590k. I’m talking about tiny, disgusting, poorly built 950 square foot shit boxes in quite mediocre neighborhoods. Then you’ve got Better, average sized homes in nicer neighborhoods that were $300K+ 10 years ago selling for $750k+ now. Wild times.
Heck I'm in N/WOHIO HOUSE WAS 101,000 lot was 36,000 in 2003 I can't even get a offer, you must be in Columbus,Lucas county only the older junk homes are selling and fast, investors are buying them up,not in my hood they're hard to sell the hoa scares buyers off.
My family moved to the upstate from Kentucky 23 years ago. From the cooking to the critters and climate we love our South Carolina ! If you do move here just don't plan to change us. We like our southern drawl and BBQ just the way it is.
Moved here 7 plus years ago and we love it. Never would we start a sentence with, up North. I tell people that I’m a Southerner who the stork drop off in the north by accident. We feel so blessed to be living here. We are retired.
@@JerryPinkasI grew up here. And you're dead WRONG!!! People are ASSHOLES here now. (They used to be nice be Nice here, but not Anymore) This place is for retired people.
I am a native of South Carolina and everything that was said is true. The price of housing has gone up but that's because to many people are moving here. Please make it stop!
Thanks for your review, Jerry!! Even though I've lived in big cities overseas while growing up, my mom's family was from the Upstate of SC. After living in big cities growing up, I always appreciated the kindness and great weather in SC. I've been living in SC, since 1976. Of course there are things that I do not like about SC, just like many other states that I have visited, but overall, I'm happy living in SC. I've been retired since 2011, but I agree with what you said about the lower wages in SC. However, there are companies like BMW, in Spartanburg, and other German auto parts suppliers for BMW, that pay well. It also depends on what type of work you do, whether or not your wages are low. I have horrible allergies also, but I take medications to help me through those times. Personally, I like the wildlife and do not feel threatened. Again, great review, Jerry!!
I left KY and moved to SC in 1989 to attend college in Florence,SC. Within a month after starting college, I experienced my first hurricane (Hugo). Finished school in 1994 and moved to Charlotte,NC to work and raise a family. 27 yrs later, my wife (from Myrtle Beach) and I sell our Charlotte home and purchased 43 arces just 40 miles south of Florence, SC. We love it! Very rual. Living in a RV for the moment as we build out our homestead (chickens and cows). 10 miles from I-95, so we can get to big cities in other states if needed. Distance but friendly neighbors, no crime, no problem. Take the back roads to the coast to avoid the busy roads Btw, my wife makes the BEST shrimp and grits you will every eat!
I'm in the process of potentially transferring down there for a job and I use to live in Savanah, GA and currently live in Chicago ( born and rasied). But i must say I miss the south but SC will be a change i feel from Savanah. How is Florence?
@VIBINWITHCOOP Florence is a great small city with major interstate access (I-20 & I-95). 1 from Myrtle Beach, 2 hours from Charleston, 2 hours from Charlotte. Housing is affordable compared to major cities mentioned
@@VIBINWITHCOOP I was born in Charleston, but moved away after my dad passed. Moved to Long Island, NY to complete high school and undergrad school. Now live in a nice suburban Chicago neighborhood. I have some good memories of my youth in Charleston, but I don't miss it.
The two most horrible and awful things about living in Greenville, SC are July and August. The humidity is insufferable and there’s not a whiff of a breeze. The air is stagnant and the mosquitoes are out in full force. Thanks for the video.
I lived in Charleston for 8 years in the 80’s. I will never forget the rain that comes down so hard you can barely see the end of your hood while driving 5mph. Or when you are driving and you look up ahead at what your brain tells you must be fog….oh no, yer wrong, it’s a dang wall of water. But I still loved every day there. Most beautiful people I ever met in my life. Love me some SC!❤
Everyplace is getting crowded. And newcomers tend to want to change things. You'll never hear someone say, "I've lived here 20 years and things keep getting better and better."
They want to keep it just the way it was in their idyllic?? youth. The simple days, before you were old enough to know what your parents were going through. It is ever thus, everywhere on the planet. People want to go back to the womb.
Jerry, don't forget to tell them about the monsters and creatures that live here such as the lizard man of bishopville, Sasquatch has been seen around rivers and lakes, and reports of rougarou and the infamous chupacabra!! Please for your safety don't move here!!
Its called "Locust People". The ruined where they used to live with their voting practices and ideology, so they flee the mess they created and move to a place that is safe and prosperous..........Then quickly go about ruining it with the same ideas and voting practices that ruined their last location. It has happened all across the country in small towns and large cities. It is exactly how Ashville NC was turned into a mini east coast San Francisco.
#11. When you get to the checkout at the grocery store, please be patient. It's customary for the cashier and bagger to ask how you are doing, how are the kids, isn't it a beautiful day, did you find everything you were looking for, etc. As Mr. Jerry said, it's Southern hospitality, and folks really care how you are doing. Oh, and you will be next in the friendly visit.
Trapped in PA. So miss the South. Ppl are "friendly" to newcomers only to have fresh gossip but never to make friends. They have to have been friends since first grade and HATE any deviation from "their" norm.
As a South Carolinian, I attest you are very accurate in what you've said in this video, IMO, it is absolutely imperative you do not choose to drop your roots in a flood prone area. One negative is Hurricanes and we are overdue for a serious destructive one of those, which can turn the majority of the state into a disaster area, I reference Hugo 1989, major destruction coming inland. Other than that and what you mentioned, once you get used to South Carolina, you really cannot imagine living anywhere else! Thanks for the time you invested in this video. David
I like your idea David, smart, terrify people with stories of dread & doom to keep them out! We will begin implementing this strategy right away as well! TYSM!
I moved to Greenville SC about a year ago from WA state. Dude, the drivers here completely ignore the speed limits - it’s like a speedway everywhere I go and I tend to go slightly above the posted speed. It’s not uncommon to see drivers going 60+ in a 35. …and don’t get me started on how many drivers blatantly run red lights. It’s super dangerous to drive around here.
oh, man, that's where i'd move to!!!!! you mean one can drive at a NATURAL SPEED, for the location, without getting Arrested??!!! or even SHOT, like in NY,NJ, New this, Old that, most States...??
My wife and I, transplants from Ohio & Michigan moved to Florida to escape the weather, etc. decided 3 years ago to move to upstate S.C. once again to escape this time the hurricanes, alligators, high insurance, traffic, rudeness, snowbirds, etc. and to this day never regretted it. Yes, we have thunderstorms bugs, pollen and so on but all of that is overshadowed by the overall cost of living the moderate climate most of the year and primarily the people who are caring family oriented friendly and extremely helpful. That includes those of all ages. Never, have we felt more at home. Even though neither of us has family in the area, our acquaintances all treat us as such and have from the time we moved here. Yup, the food is not necessarily the healthiest but we found a solution. We don't eat as much and balance our diet while still enjoying what is offered here. God bless those who love the big cities, ridiculous traffic, high cost of living and rudeness. We hope that they stay where they are and not bring that all here. If you insist on saying how great it's there, stay there.
SC is great along the coast and Greenville area. Beware of being downwind of International Paper in Georgetown and The West Rock Paper Mill in N. Charleston.
@@timothyhayes2935 Thats the smell of money I’ve worked those plants as a pipefitter/welder and have made a fantastic $$$$$$ over the past several years
People like you are why I left South Carolina. I was born n raised in Georgia and South Carolina and right on the line and all the immigrants and northern folk ruined that place. Now I live in East Tennessee and it’s started to happen here. Southern pride and respect is gone.
I just came back from my trip to Greenville and the surrounding area, and it hit every wow factor for me. My trip was intended for a potential move in the near future. I listened to your cons and honestly, none of them scare me. I'm from NJ where the mosquitoes will eat you alive. In central Jersey alone, which is not big an area, we have 3.9 million people and they just keep on packing everyone in. Traffic gets so bad 3 times a day, that sometimes it takes 15-20 minutes to drive 2-3 miles. It's faster on bike. Pollen dust for a week is a vacation compared to an entire month in NJ. I also visited Greenville in August and while yes it was hot, the humidity didn't seem as bad as it gets in NJ. Yeah, i'll take a pay cut to move to the Greenville area, but when it comes to mental health, mental stamina and overall happiness, I will take the lower pay in a happier place. (When I visited, everyone was happy, inviting and welcoming) I also found there was just so much to do while I was there, I'd never be bored. And Lastly, affordability.. The pay scale is different yes, but with the research I've done, a working class family with kids can still afford to live whereas here in NJ, $80k/year for a single frugal person like myself can barely get by. Great talking points and I'm glad you posted them here. But I'm ready to move and Greenville SC is my ultimate destination for relocation.
That's a great depiction. I plan to relocate to murrells inlet and await my home to be rented. I have a child to raise and the way that NJ is you have to be rich or poor. Or the single moms have to not work to get health benefits. It's a state for the elite.
I live in Hightstown, NJ and I am considering a move there for a band. I am a singer and an artist. I agree regarding the traffic here, especially up north and the rudeness on the road is unapparelled. Even going food shopping..there are too many people here..But there are my friends and a lot of fun things in NJ to do as well. The main reason I am considering a move is the wildfire smoke wreaking havoc with the air quality here in NJ. I missed a ton of gigs last Summer because of it. Regarding hurricanes, that does concern me. Just have to do more research. Considering Savannah as well. Did u ever do the move?
@@1artistvocalist I didn't do the move only because I got a job back here in NJ and couldn't refuse it. Otherwise I was leaving. I'm not far from you (Princeton) so yeah the rudeness and craziness of the area has gotten out of control. You wouldn't have to worry about hurricanes in Greenville. It's far enough inland where it's not going to cause destruction. You would however in Savannah though. Very beautiful and eclectic there. As far as Greenville goes, it's an expanding city, lots of culture with a very fun atmosphere for everyone. Small suburbs all around the city with small town vibes if that's what you like.
I've been here for 7 years, and have been retired for the past 2, before that, I spent the majority of my life growing up/living in the Detroit area. As I listened to all ten reasons, I reminded myself of the fact that any place is as good or bad as you choose it to be. It all depends on your point of view. I'm living here, so I CHOOSE to see this area as a great place to live and retire. It's all too easy to find all of the bad of any place. Look for the good, and you'll find it. That said, the Carolinas aren't much for food meccas. Because of the auto plants, I could find any kind or style of food I wanted, Here? Not so much. But, on the upside, I have learned how to cook the foods I miss. It's all a matter of perspective. If you decide to make this your new home, welcome!
Born and raised In Florence. Moved to Texas just for shopping and food. Yes SC is lacking a lot of cultural experiences. Greenville was on its way, last I checked.
So glad you enjoyed this helpful video. I truly appreciate you taking the time to watch it and to comment here on this channel. See you in the next video.
My job transferred me to Greenville SC back in the 70’s. We lived there for 8 1/2 years. Loved Greenville. I understand Greenville is now considered one of the best cities to live in the country. We still vacation in Charleston, another terrific city in South Carolina. My wife is a Tennessee native. Tennessee has been our home since leaving Greenville. Tennessee is another great State to live in and raise a family.
With a popular place to live it brings its troubles as well and unfortunately those sweet spots don't stay sweet forever. I have lived many places in my lifetime being a military brat but I must say that this is the best of the best.
Moved here from Maine in late 2021. The only thing on this list that really matters is the low paying jobs. We bought an inexpensive home, drive inexpensive cars, and live within our means. It would help to have that mindset for any new people.
"inexpensive home, drive inexpensive cars, and live within our means". Best comment. All these issues would be avoided if everyone did this, but they won't because they need to live like rock stars. Why else would anyone want to move to The Villages other than to show off.
Yes. You are correct. I work fulltime in Carolina at an employer that employees thousands of people. My starting pay in 2022 is less than what I earned in 1987. Don't plan on maintaining a lifestyle that you had before if you move here is helpful advice.
I traveled to SC escaping a hurricane in Florida 6 years ago I found the friendliest folks I’ve ever met in my life there. Many time I’ve visited SC some near Greenville and just a bit south east of that. Although Greenville had its traffic backups in and out of the city it wasn’t near as bad as FL. Also Greenville also has the friendliest folks around. Loved that when I first started visiting your state. It does get sadly hotter than even Florida some when I was there but it also had some very cold WX also. Not likely for me but love visiting you folks !!!!
I just randomly got here to this video. I love it, because hearing the truth to me personally is better than being sugarcoated. I live in Canada, so I’m not planning anytime soon to retire anywhere in Florida or South Carolina, for now anyway. I am an old-school immigrant . I wish most of the people in Canada and in the US were like you, just shooting straight, no BS. The slower pace of life is worth considering. I have visited Myrtle Beach in the past for only a week back then in 2014 and we loved it. We had to drive 22 hours to get there from Mississauga Ontario. And on the way, we saw a lot of beautiful places and the countryside. Who knows, probably in retirement. We will spend the winters in south USA.
Thanks for watching and sharing your story! I have found by just telling it like it is the good the bad and the ugly, even though it’s not what people want to hear it’s always the best approach. Truly thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
My family lives in Charleston and I am moving down there to be with them. I absolutely love it down there and it feels like home. I love the slow pace. Your surrounded by seafood so there are many healthy options. Downtown Charleston is one of my favorite places. Carmella desserts can't be beat and the turtles from the fudgery. I get my spices from the market. I can't imagine a better place to be. I also work from home. I have no complaints 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I loved this video as you reaffirmed the reasons I am moving to SC. I bought a really nice house 10 years ago in Goose Creek with plans to retire there. I am so glad I did as the house has doubled in value and as it has been rented all this time it has been a great investment. I am in the NYC area though not the city but can't wait to move there for everything you said, especially the slower pace of life and the really nice people. My tenants who moved down from the North tell me how nice the neighbors are and how much they love living there and also about all the critters that are outside which surprised them the first nights at the house. It wasn't the plan but I will keep that house rented and plan to buy another one in the same community in a few months to move to. My friend moved to Goose Creek from here a year before I bought the house and told me how great it was and now 11 years later he still says the move was the best thing he ever did. I saw the house on line and the price at the time was a no brainer, I had my friend look at it for me in person and made the deal over the phone. I wish I could have made the move years ago but as I own a business it would have been a financial hardship to leave then but I sure knew I wanted out of New York and now more then ever. Who knows, maybe I will be your neighbor in SC :)
I am moving there next month and I am hoping I meet you. We moved from NY to Florida in 2018 and hate it. Finally getting out and going to where we hope the people are friendly and kind.
@@franco634 I am near Charleston, my friend went there a year before I bought the house from NY and never looked back. The neighbors had a BBQ for them when they moved there and all my tenants tell me is how great the people are there; they moved from the North too.

@@tiffanylubeck3505 yes, you sound like you have no animosity to people from other states AT ALL and don't believe any stereotypes. You don't sound like you'd be friendly if I told you where I was from no matter how nice I was to you.
Hey Jerry, I'm a local. This is truthful & spot on. Sadly, so many people move here & want to change everything that attracted them here! Thank you. Great vid.
@BellaSC , Sounds like those immigrants that run for office get elected and want to change the constitution that gave them the freedom they came here seeking….People are never happy :(
I'm from SC, and I miss it. I can't wait to move back when I retire. Your observations are valid, but there is much to love about it too. It may not be everyone's "cup of tea" but I can't wait to move back home.
Several years ago, while exploring several Southern states as options for retirement, I visited a realtor in Virginia and made the mistake of telling him that I was also looking in other states, including The Carolinas. Without hesitation, he told me, "here you're a Yankee. In The Carolinas, you're going to be a Damn Yankee". Taken aback, that conversation soon ended, but I went on to explore The Carolinas. Beautiful states, but my impression (however accurate or inaccurate it may be) is that there are two significant demographics there: transplanted New Yorkers who have brought their big pensions and overbearing personalities, and the native locals who quite justifiably resent the population explosion and the subsequent effect on their culture and environment. I may be completely wrong, and draw criticism from both sides for my comment. In the meantime, I think I'll live and let live. New York has suited me for over 50 years and probably will for the remainder of my life. These high taxes and overcast skies have kind of grown on me, anyway. There's no place like home.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing your story. I can tell you that here in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, it is rare to meet anyone who was born at the beach. We have many who have moved or retired from every state in the nation. Which makes it a great place to call home.
@williammonney4378 I can't help but ask - how are your retirement investments keeping up with the sky high taxes of NY? If they're doing really well, let me know who your financial advisor is. If you worked in NY during the golden years for a government agency (and got a fabulous retirement package), then that really tells me why you're happy to stay put!
@@SwimminWitDaFishies I'm a retired local civil servant with an adequate but unspectacular pension, and a Roth that's doing okay, but I historically have invested very conservatively, so consequently I'm not a millionaire. I have the taxes rolled into the mortgage which means I mostly pay the taxes and interest on it, and continue to work full time in my "retirement" at NYC pay rates to stay ahead of the curve. I see many people doing both better and worse than me, so it is what it is. I usually stop complaining when I see the homeless in the subway. Happy to stay put? I find that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. For financial advisement, I highly recommend Primerica Financial Services. They are everywhere - I am sure you can find someone local. I would not trust anyone else with my finances. Good luck.
I would agree. I’m a native of the Carolinas living in SC near the Charlotte metro area. The area I grew up in and loved for so many years does not exist anymore. It’s just louder and more crowded. It’s too much growth, way too fast. And the blending of other cultures can be a clash at times. I still love my home, but I miss what it use to be. You may not agree, but that has been my experience.
@@RoRo-pd7qw I do agree, and I sympathize. I looked at houses in Haxhaw, NC. It looks as if it was once a quiet little town. From the looks of things today, people from my neck of the woods are turning it into another version of Long Island, and they seem oblivious to the fact that some of the native residents don't appreciate it. But that's self-absorbed New Yorkers for you. If I relocate, it will be to get away from that, not go to where there's more of it. I also think its a shame that the beautiful landscape of NC is being bulldozed in order to put up these crowded, cookie-cutter "subdivisions" that people are so excited about. You really have my sympathies for what's going on in NC. I just hope that Southern folks realize that Yankees are not all the same.
I grew up and still live in the south (but not SC) and my lifelong observation is that southern people are no more "friendly" than northern people. Sure, they may smile and be more polite to you and less directly confrontational in person, but when you are out of earshot they will tell friends and family in no uncertain terms what they really think of you. And if they are really "old school" southern, they may do it something like this: "He is so obnoxious, bless his heart" or "She has such a big nose, bless her heart."
Everyone is honest in private. New Yorkers love to say stuff behind peoples back also. It’s all over for that. Being polite to your face is the difference between the two.
I lived in Greenville, SC for 2 1/2 years and we enjoyed it. We were surprised on how friendly and outgoing the people were. I’m from the Cleveland, Ohio area and you were cursed on a regular basis. I found the employment was more serviced based than factory based. We were there in the mid 1980s and we had a snow storm that hit Greenville and it shut down the town and people didn’t know how to drive in snow. No problem for me. I’m used to driving in snow and I put snow tires on my car and drove slow. Not a problem.
I lived in Greenville about 3 years ago, but I worked in Industry. The Inland port @Inman SC generates a lot of manufacturing jobs. You can still buy a farm in Upstate SC, btw. Yes, wages are somewhat depressed, but everyone who worked in RTP in North Carolina or the Pharmaceutical plants up North can ask for comparable salaries if you have a extensive skill set. There is a lot of affordable housing in the Central part of SC( including cool historic houses), but you need to land a job in towns like Iota, Abbeville, and Camden. One thing I don' t get about Buncombe county NC and Greenville SC. There is no public transit between Greenville and Asheville. Seriously! There is no public transit to GSP airport. Either you take Uber, rent a car, or hire the Hickory Hop shuttle. Avoid I-85 and take Amtrak's Crescent to either Charlotte or Atlanta if you live in Upstate SC. PS. You forgot that I-85 traffic drives everyone slowly crazy. If you relocate to Greenville, you need to either live in the Greenville city limits, take state road 25 home, or any of the country highways instead.
You couldn't get me across the Mason-Dixon line for all the money in the world. "Cursed on a regular basis", no way in heck!! I will never put up with that craziness, never!!
I read a report in our local newspaper about how a hundred people are moving to south Carolina every single day. I live in a little town outside of Charleston. Well, it was a little town. Now its crowded. The traffic went from minimal to bumper to bumper traffic every single day. The sirens of ambulances, police cars and firetrucks can be heard morning noon and night. Traffic accidents several times a day. We used to get a little fender bender maybe once a month but its daily now. We had a man get bit by a copperhead snake at the local walmart a few years ago. Last year i found a copperhead snake next to my front door last year. And a small rattler was run over by a car next to the sidewalk children walk to school on. Mosquitos are horrendous. They will bite you in the daytime too.
@@arribaficationwineho32 they aren't bringing them but they will get to experience them. We got gators too. So be careful swimming in any water. And at one of the lakes don't swim in it during the summer. Brain eating bacteria. And sharks at the beaches. Normal for salt water. Don't eat fish from the rivers. Pollution has made them hazardous to your health. The newspapers say that you can eat some fish from certain rivers but some rivers it's only a few a month . One river they recommend eating a fish only once a month. Some rivers pregnant women shouldn't eat any of the fish. Every place in the US probably has things that can hurt you. Some of those places they don't tell what you should watch out for. Some they don't know about the dangers or problems of the place. Don't forget water moccasins. My teacher at the college told the class about a young woman who was skiing in the water and fell into the water. When they found her body it was covered in moccasin bites. Very aggressive snakes those moccasins. At least he warned us about them. But if someone doesn't want to be warned that is fine. Find out on your own. One thing new people are bringing is pollution from their vehicles. And bad drivers. Lots of bad drivers. In my personal opinion the locals aren't great either but when combined with bad drivers that expect for other drivers to get out of their way and watch out for them, well, many many accidents. I don't drive. I don't trust the other drivers. The roads are getting crazier all the time. I'm looking for a different place to live.
Im a retired RE Broker living about 3 miles from the ocean in Ft Lauderdale. A main reason for buying the house I have lived in for 27 years is it's 9ft above grade and will want a similar location when I get he hell out of here, only because the high rises are disgusting, not just for their destruction of the overall ambiance, but for the associated crowding and the toll that takes on the infrastructure. Kudos to you for supplying maps of lowest levels to avoid
Omg. You're COMPLAINING about "disgusting highrises" and the toll it takes on infrastructure -- and yet, you're RETIRED REAL ESTATE 😆The irony. Bet you didn't mind it collecting all those commissions. 🫣
As for the weather, people will quickly learn to plan their outdoor activity before 11AM or after 3-4PM in the summer. As for the beach, in the summer you will burn to a crisp during the mid-day hours, the reflected sun off the sand will cook you. I've seen the sand so hot that I could not walk on it.
Retired Military and Civilian Environmental Engineer, we moved to SC from NY a year ago and love it. Me, the analytical type, rejected several homes over flood zones and hurricane criteria, much to my wife's dismay, but we found a lovely community in the Pee Dee near Darlington that fit all my technical requirements and all her aesthetic requirements with little compromise. When we moved in July, went to a town festival and introduced ourselves. 97 degrees and humid. One lady said to us, "boy it's HOT today". (I've been to the Panama Canal Zone 3 times on deployment). I said.. "Its South Carolina .. and it's July. Of course it's hot." She smiled and said "Yeah, bot not THIS HOT!" Love it.
My cousin is retired Air Force from the North. He moved to SC with his wife a few years ago in the greater Charleston area. They absolutely love it and think it’s the best place to live in the country. I have another friend who lived there for 9 years, she ended up moving to Calif. I think the best is to keep going there for visits and over time decide if it’s right for you. But the points you made are very true, I remember my friend mentioned the cuisine not so great and too many bugs, but her neighbors were welcoming and friendly.
Been to Subic Bay PI on deployment a few times and that’s hot 90+ humid at night. As long as you have good working AC you can sleep. Been on vacation to many beaches in NC and SC but love Surfside Beach

The foods, the climate, and the friendly people all sound very nice to me. It's a lot easier to be happy around friendly and courteous people. Your video makes me feel like visiting there. Good job!
Just do your own homework. Visit first, a few times. Spend time here. Find out what things are really like before you make the big move. We moved to Tennessee from New England close to 20 years ago thinking that all places were just about the same. They are not. Just find out for yourself.
As an actual northerner ( Canada ) I have always held firm to the belief "the warmer it is, the bigger the bugs get" - So Ive always been very happy with our deep winter freezes, that kill off the majority of bug eggs. We had a hell of a mild winter, so its gonna be a bad earwig summer this year! 😵💫

Michigan here and id rather be cold than hot anyway!!! You can't get more naked then naked lol but you can put on a fire, take a hot shower and lots of blankets and stuff to keep warm.
My thing is, if you come to South Carolina, you're coming here for what it is and what it has to offer, otherwise you wouldn't leave your hustle/bustle city life! If you still want all that, stay where you are! I visited for a military graduation, and from what little I saw, I loved it. I'm planning on making a move actually.

Thanks for sharing your story with others. I have to 100% agree with you most people don’t know how fortunate they really truly are. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I tried living in the Philippines for three months. Wonderful people, but......just a different way of life. If you want to see what real poverty looks like......people here have no idea. They are clueless.
Thanks for posting this video. As a South Carolina resident, our population growth from the northern states has become overwhelming. Hopefully, they will take your information and move somewhere else to help keep our cost of living reasonable.
, william3151 is making his comment with tongue firmly in cheek. He, and I, don’t want more people moving here. That is how you are doing us a service. And why he thanked you.
There are 4 different poisonous snakes here in South Carolina. We have a water moccasin, copperheads, rattlesnakes, and coral snakes. He did not mention hurricanes. Whenever there's a threat of a hurricane people on the coast are told to leave the coast so you can imagine what traffic is like trying to get away from the coastal regions. He was not exaggerating about traffic 5pm traffic in Charleston is horrendous. The state bird is mosquitoes.
Poisonous is when eating something. Venomous is something that’s injected. Snakes have venom. And there are actually 7 total venomous snakes. All the ones you mentioned plus 3 more species of rattlesnakes. Don’t forget we have huge amounts of ticks (Lyme disease) and jelly fish and sharks in the oceans. Black widows are in abundance too. It’s a small version of Australia for sure
With all the people moving there to South Carolina from other places like the midwest, northeast and elsewhere, I gather things are constantly changing there. Not many native born South Carolinans left and the southern hospitality is slowly starting to fade away. Especially in the big cities like Columbia and the coastal areas around Charleston & Myrtle Beach, etc.
It is true, The hidden gem of South Carolina is no longer hidden. Low taxes, lower cost of living, great year round weather is just a part of the draw that has so many moving to South Carolina. Especially considering Florida with all its insurance and high cost of living issues. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The people who move South, want a peaceful nice lovely place to live, yet the first things they do is yell, "change, change, change." Well, we don't want to change and what you are moving from is what we DONT want. We are a conservative area of the U.S. and look at what you are running from. Most Southerners don't want liberal leftist ideas and that is what many of you bring with you. It breaks my heart. t
Moved to the upstate about 25 years ago from Southern CA. It's been a great experience. The food that is served here is a personal choice, you can always make a decision to eat healthy and exercise your freedom of choice. My only negative about the state is the lack of sidewalks and bicycle lanes. Otherwise it's a really great place to live.
Great job highlighting the pluses and minuses of living in South Carolina I am from pa and your state is beautiful and very welcoming. If I could I would move there right away . Thank you for the insight from my point of view, I love South Carolina
Great video~ Thanks for the information. Great video. Thank you! One thing you forgot to mention is the intraplate seismic area around Charleston, South Carolina which is capable of producing very large earthquakes such as was the case in 1886. That earthquake was estimated to have been of the magnitude of 6.9 to 7.3. If you go to Charleston, you can see the reinforcements in the walls of older buildings that were added in the post-quake years.
Me aunt and cousin moved from Ohio to Charleston and the high humidity is a shock at first, but the beaches are fantastic! If you like actual change if seasons then I'd say stay up North. People move South for the winters not for the summers!
Being a Southerner watching the changes in the South you are absolutely right. Because I've lost my accent and been accused of speaking like an NPR announcer sometimes I'm identified as a Yankee. If ya don't speak local, don't expect discounts from mechanics or a break on traffic tickets. To have the ultimate Southern experience move into a trailer park for sh*ts and grins. At least until developers move all the trailers out and put $2,000 a month condos in there place.
Lived in Redhill for about 12 years👍Originally from Jersey. Myrtle Beach is a little over 10 miles away. CCU is down the street and have access to #544 and #501👍 It's to a point to where it's almost difficult to tell if there is an off season. Traffic can be taxing, but they have made improvements👌 Incorporating more frontage roads for local traffic. Been through two 1000 year floods 😒 Thank God, I'm on higher elevation. Remember them using sandbags along #501 out of Conway. Unfortunately alot of homes were flooded 😕 Topography and flood zones change, especially with all the building that's been going on. Flood insurance is cheap piece of mind👍
Lake Murray is awesome! My dad lives waterfront in a cove. He's moving in with me for his remaining years and I expect him to miss his place terribly. I promised him this 20 years ago after we watched my grandmother decline with Alzheimers 😢
Thank you, Jerry for giving an honest assessment. My friend moved there after retiring from a police department up north and loves it. Me and the wife are considering it as New Jersey is looking less and less like America and taxing us to death.

@denisedoherty4909 I lived in Florida for two years. At first it was amazing. Beautiful scenery and 4 minutes from the beach. For one, the heat was getting unbearable. Even if you go to the beach, its too hot to enjoy and overcrowded. The people there are a**holes. The drivers can be pretty bad, but not as bad as in Atl. The housing is expensive. Everything starts to look the same, since everything is flat. There's a lot of crime and drug influence. But hey, the palm trees are nice 😆.
I'm moving to South Carolina from North Carolina because it's much cheaper to live, no auto inspections, not conjested, no crazy heavy traffic, and can get a house without an HOA.

Born and reared and lived the first 22 years of my life in the Greenville/Spartanburg area. Now I live in New Jersey and can’t wait to return to South Carolina when I retire. Great video!
I've lived in New Jersey my whole life, and now I'm planning to move to SC to be near my son and DIL. I'm hoping I can pull all the pieces together to make it happen. They've lived down there probably close to 30 years.
As people start isolating themselves for many reasons in large communities it is refreshing to know that SC would offer opportunities to be part of a community. A huge plus for me. Heck, it is only bugs trying to live! Lol
We live in Upstate! Moved from big city Charlotte NC 20 years ago! Never looked back. We were transferred here and felt a sigh of relief . Country living but in the city limits!!!! Lol We are surrounded by Countryside, cows, 3 big lakes and waterfalls & mountains! Mild winters and gorgeous seasons! But the pollen can be bad but it only lasts a few weeks at very first signs of Spring. I saw a couple snakes in our our neighborhood at beginning of summer..but they disappear soon..and mostly are black snakes that are scared of humans! Lots of squirrels tho bc of all the gorgeous trees. I feed them with the birds. 😅. They get hungry too. We love love SC ! ❤️ but we do have red clay soil here near Clemson. So we had to plant centipede grass. Easier to grow. We travel to Greenville for hustle bustle. We are in our 60s and yes friendly friendly atmosphere and good vibes but YESssss slowwww drivers ...lol I'm uptight so I do get frustrated. 😌 But the big loud trucks ( pick ups) that these young boys jack up and put loud mufflers on them are driving me insane!!! THEY MAKE THEM AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE SO THATS THE ONLY REAL NEGATIVE THING I HATE! It doesn't bother my hubby or my two adults boys but it Def bothers me! But cops say they can't regulate or give out tickets ..ugh..praying this changes at some point. But overall We are very happy! Big city life not for us.
Agree with most things on your list. After vacationing here for 30 years and even owning a second home for half that time, we decided to move to Surfside. We lived in Atlanta metro for 35 years, so many of the things on your list (pollen, humidity, food, etc.) are already familiar. Big difference (and you touch on it) is the driving. When I moved to Atlanta 35 years ago, after living in Washington DC and New York, I was SHOCKED at the speed and aggressiveness. And that was 35 years ago -- it got MUCH worse over time with the influx of people. I eventually got used to it and, like everyone else, would normally drive 20 miles over the speed limits. 😁 Now, I'm dealing with the opposite -- people driving 35 in a 45 mph zone. Also, the people from SC are friendly (just like those in Georgia)...but just like I experienced in Georgia...a TON of people move here from the north and (no offense) they aren't very friendly at all. Especially the vacationers. They are also slightly "liberalizing" the politics.
The tip I received about preparing for pollen season was to start using my steroid nasal spray preemptively in February!!! Just weathering my first pollen season and you are so right!!!! Literally have to use windshield wipers with fluid before pulling out of the driveway!!
Also, buy LOCAL honey to enjoy throughout the winter months to build up your resistance to the pollen. It truly worked for me after I discovered the natural remedy.
Being a newcomer to S.C. I'll just point out a couple of things I've noticed we do here. Tail gate, speed on narrow road, come to a stop before turning right and running red lights. Once you realize that is the norm here, you'll love it.
I like the upper midwest in the summer and Arizona is near as perfect in the winter months as you will ever get. October to April.Summer is hot but you dont sweat at all
I’m from Florida and my husband and I are generational Floridians. We can’t afford to live here anymore as seniors. It pains us to have to move. It seems like many states are having too big of growth spurts and it’s making homes cost way too expensive. I guess we’re going to have to look out lower west because we don’t want to learn to live in cold weather at our age.
So sorry to here this. Thanks for watching and commenting. I am amazed at the number of people moving to The Myrtle Beach SC are who have left Florida. Wishing you success where ever you end up. Hope your having a great day.

My grandfather lived 95 years here in the south. I tried to tell him all that bacon and hamburger would kill him. He just wouldn't listen. And my father is 85 now and still plays basketball. And the snakes, we release those when we hear someone from the north is here looking at real estate.
Everything but the wages, the congestion and flooding sounds great to me. I'd move somewhere that didn't flood and the rest isn't a deal-breaker at all. I'm from the North of England which is like the South of the US (in many regards except the climate), so the idea of friendly people and proper community sounds brilliant to me, and I hate big cities so that sounds great too! If I ever move to the US I've been looking at South Carolina and Minnesota as the two states I like the idea of for the friendlyness and the wildlife and outdoors opportunities.
I have been living in SC for almost 6 years originally from NYC lived in New Jersey and in Philadelphia. You hit nail right on the head. I love living in SC upstate area this is my home.
Glad to hear someone honestly acknowledge that some of us prefer solitude and quiet. That Southern hospitality/friendly factor would have me running TOWARDS wherever the alligators live, lol. Small talk and loads of it and the endless smiling gives me the whammies. Manners, yes. But the rest of it, no thank you. And sweet tea?! UGH. Best wishes to all from a curmudgeon in New Mexico. 😁
OMG!!!! I love NEW MEXICO, yes. Beautiful blue sky, no light pollution, desert, mountains, warm, cold, amazing nights with incredible stars, nice people😊, very few natural disasters, adobe homes, no pollen, manageable traffic! What else can I say?
Great list! Really! This covers it all. I moved from a Southern California beach town to a Florida beach town. The three things that re-routed me back were #1 Weather. I just couldn't acclimate to the extreme heat and humidity which resulted in my having to take OTC allergy pills. There is the beach but it's so hot you have to go early in the morning and be gone by 9am. Plus the heat and humidity prevent any bike riding or walking, at least for me #2 Lack of healthy food (and culture) not being easily accessible if at all. #3 Money. You either have it or you don't! I'd made this move years ago and #3 still holds true wherever you may land! In considering relocation I still say weather would be #1. The climate will allow you to either live the lifestyle you prefer or not. I guess the main thing is to do your research and stay open to changes. It's an exciting adventure to experience!
Thanks for watching. Did you see the video I did about that? Alternative Places BEFORE Buying, Relocating or Retiring to FLORIDA - ruclips.net/video/VRTjNfGeybY/видео.html
Could the lack of healthy food not simply be solved by buying raw ingredients from the grocery and cooking yourself, or is that unavailable too? I have no plans of moving there, just wonder why people dont do it and how "impossible" it really is to live healthy there
I moved to SC from Hawaii in 2019. (Hawaii too expensive.) Grew up in New Hampshire. I agree with everything you said. I do love living here but bought a summer home in NH in 2021 because I golf and can't stand the heat. I also love to garden but do that in NH too because of snakes and fire ants in SC. So 8 months SC and 4 months in NH is perfect.
I live in NC but spent a couple years on Oahu. I thought it was so interesting. The place is lousy with geckos, which doesn’t bother me. But I found their mongooses to be the equivalent of our squirrels, except the mongooses scurry instead of hop. And the mynah birds were like their robins. As much as I hate a palmetto bug, though, it has nothing on a centipede. Not only do they sting, one got my ex-husband but thankfully I was lucky, but they seemed to be practically indestructible. We had one in our house that was extremely difficult to kill. And they’re giant and creepy!
My late husband got bit in the face by a centipede when he was sleeping. He said it felt like he got hit with a baseball bat. I didn't know tell the morning but told him he should have awakened me in case he had a reaction. Sure don't miss the centipedes. I was ruthless when I saw one in the house. Dumped diatomaceous earth on them.
Great video. Everywhere has pros and cons to living and its great to hear the the truth as well. I live in Myrtle Beach and I am ready to move to Florida. The tourism her is brutal and getting out of hand. A born and bread southern boy and ready for the sunshine state. Thanks for sharing.
Truly appreciate you taking the time to watch this video and to comment here on this channel. I’ll see you in the next video so glad you enjoyed this one.
I live in SC. He was right about everything! The bugs are brutal in the summer. Pollen falls like rain, you can see it in the air. The food is good, but not good for you. It is always sweet sweet tea, mac and cheese, fried shrimp and oysters, fried green tomatoes, ribs, hash, catfish stew, juicy burgers. You can have all of that in a week's time!
I agree with pretty much everything he said in this video. Yes, the weather gets really hot and sometimes humid and sticky. Yes there is lots of wildlife and bugs and snakes and gators that bite. If you use common sense, you can avoid a lot of that. Yes, the food has a lot of fat and sugar and salt in it, but it’s delicious. I’m partial because I’m southern but I love southern food Especially cornbread or biscuits with pretty much anything. We love our college football down here. We love ice, tea or cold drinks in general to stay cool. We love our ceiling fans and our air conditioning :-) during the summer. South Carolina ends are patriotic, generally, conservative, mostly religious, Big fans of the constitution and the second amendment, we will help our neighbors whenever we can, we are family oriented, love, good food, fun, friends, and freedom. We welcome visitors and new residents alike as long as you are respectful of our customs and traditions, and the things that we hold, dear. As long as you don’t come here to cause problems, disrespected us, or engage in criminal activity, we are very welcoming. There are some beautiful places in South Carolina that you won’t see anywhere else in the United States. We have the beautiful beaches and coastal towns and villages on the east, a little bit more bustle in the north old English District, near Charlotte, and mountains and beautiful scenery in the west. Lots of history, lots of religious and educational institutions, farming, and engineering tend to be pretty big in this state. I’m not originally from South Carolina. I came here from another southern state, but I have gotten used to living here. The per capita income is generally lower than other states like Georgia or North Carolina, but so is the cost of living, and we have much lower taxes. Unfortunately, in 2020 the whole Covid outbreak caused people to migrate from many other states to the south east, which college property prices and rental rates to skyrocket here. This has caused a lot of hardships for people who already live here, because people from out of state are willing to pay more which forces other people down the property ladder, and that is truly disgraceful. So, if you’re not prepared to buckle down a little bit financially, you don’t need to come here. Also, if you’re coming from somewhere else, it’s OK that you remember who you are and where you are from but once you are here, you must understand that we do things a certain way here and if you make an effort to try to do what we do and blend in, we will be happy to meet you halfway. If you don’t, you’re only going to make your life difficult for yourself. People who come here , usually are looking for a more relaxed way of life that is not as fast-paced as the larger cities and other parts of the country. We have a lot of history and culture here. Enjoy it and embrace it.
You are very realistic in your description of the cons for South Carolina. Having grown up in Alabama and lived a number of places around the country, now 50% Vermont and 50% New Hampshire, I think you have hit the most relevant factors that people should consider before selecting SC as a home. You didn't really hit very hard the extent/duration of high heat and high humidity. It can be stifling, especially in the low countries for months on end, forcing most people indoors more than they may anticipate. Thank you.
This NC native says AMEN to everything you've said about SC - and wishes my state would've saved us from our cultural shift by publishing what you have for SC. Old-fashioned Southern food restaurants have one by one closed. All we have are these out-of-state sushi bars and other stuff. Kids don't like greens anymore! (Sigh...) 😒
We just spent a month in North Myrtle Beach and I agree with everything you said in the video. Our car was covered in a film of yellow dust until we went to the car wash. Being that it was February/March we did not experience the humidity or bugs and only saw a few lizards. Also, we found the groceries to be much higher than Illinois. You forgot to mention the preponderance of XXX adult stores, junky souvenir shops and candy stores - how do they all manage to survive? Also, I went to a "fancy" hair salon and had the worst experience of my life at the highest price. But we still loved it! Brookgreen Garden is awesome, we ate in some good restaurants, and tried nearly every beach in NMB and just over the border in NC. Our favorite restaurants were Graham's, Benito's, and Toffino's. We will be back!
Try going a little further south on the coast... Like Surfside Beach, Garden City, Pawlys Island, it's a lot nicer than Myrtle Beach, but still close enough to do the tourist thing ... I think you would really enjoy your vacation more.. Those areas always have great restaurants that are more "localized".. I'm sure somebody may get mad for me spreading that tid bit of info. But, I want people to enjoy their time when they visit!! Take Care 😇
Here's something else to consider. Because of the long-term heat and humidity factor it promotes a lifestyle of physical sluggishness and limited activity. Because going without an AC unit isn't really an option here, it tends to encourage people to stay inside and avoid outside for much of the day roughly May through September. And particularly those activities which are physically demanding. Although it isn't blazing hot and humid all year, it's enough so that it tends to set a slower pace of life. Maybe not the healthiest lifestyle overall either.
LOL! Try living in a state where it's cold 7 months out of the year and you don't want to go outside either. I'd rather be hot than cold. AC and a swimming pool sounds great to me
I moved here from Chicago and definitely understand your points about slower pace and southern hospitality. There is also a slower pace for everything, e.g. for a contractor's job. Besides, less competition makes contractors a bit less customer-friendly and more expensive than in big metropolitan areas. Another point is about #1b. I see a possibility for a high-paying job in 2 cases: 1. You stay near Charlotte that has pretty sizable financial sector like BoFA or Wells Fargo. 2. You can get a remote job with one of the companies from New York, Chicago or Silicon Valley. With the 2 latter choices I mentioned there is also an upside that you have 1 hour or 3 hours head start against them which is great for those who don't like waking up early.

Humid weather in the 90's is nice for a change compared to 121 degrees from April to November any day, 9. Lower income means lower taxes, the money is there, it just might take a little longer to find your groove, 10. forgot what this one is. Can't wait to move. Got 3 months to go before I get there.

We are being transferred to Charleston from Georgia. All your talking points apply here as well. Except for hospitality. I find that people are friendly, like they will say hi and chit chat, but won’t open their homes to you. Most welcoming place I have ever lived was St Louis.
A major difference between Savannah and Charleston is that the houses in downtown Savannah have their windows facing the streets and sidewalks, whereas in Charleston they usually are placed on the side of the house so people walking down the street can't see in. Also, in Charleston they ask who your family is, while in Savannah they ask what you'd like to drink.
@@jm-bv1wh The homes in downtown Charleston are turned so that their front porches or Piazza can catch the breezes off the ocean. There are some new developments that build their homes like that as to mimic that old Charleston vibe
I felt the same way about North Carolina. Friendly to chat with you but won’t invite you to dinner in their homes or accept your invitation to come to your home for a meal. Even the church pastors!
Basically if you're not used to traffic, wild animals, fatty food, strange customs, being bored (big city vibes), humid weather, overcrowded tourist traps, pollen, then stay where you are! No need to complain about things you should already have prepared for..... I thank this man for putting it out there! Grew up here, Ga, and Pittsburgh, and I love it here!!
At this point, due to worsening storm surges, coastal living anywhere on the East coast is both a massive risk and a poor investment. The safest place to move to in the Carolinas is the Piedmont region. If you want a beach vacation, just rent yourself a cottage on the coast in July. The Piedmont region has less extreme weather and it actually cools off in Fall and Winter. Among the most well regarded places to live in, in the area, are Asheville, NC, Knoxville, TN and Chattanooga, TN. That's my two cents. Hope you find the right place for you, wherever it is.
I love my state. The slow pace of living. People are friendly. Last few yrs alot of out of Towner's fled here to my 2 light town on the lake about 20 miles outside of Columbia. I would say 50/50 that these people were friendly and grateful to be warmly welcomed in. We are all humans and the way some of those big blue cities were locked down I completely understand Thier desire for some freedom. Now half of these people have brought Thier attitudes and ways with them. This is the south and we like to respect our neighbors. Because I worked at a restaurant/gas station and a laundromat I crossed paths with alot of public. Just like you would like immigrants to adjust to the ways of the united states, I personally don't like rude, complaining people or people who try to run you over and pass because you slowed down for the deer that jumped out in front of me , that you didn't see. And we don't block side roads in traffic. We let our neighbors out in traffic.
Tracy, The way you describe your small town is very much the way it is in rural upstate NY. Many of us here are very pleased that the NYC/Down-Stater folks are moving South. We are very familiar with the attitude you are observing... Good luck!!
@@jamesbecker3420 Awe come on now. Your closer. You take them. :) Maybe a slower pace of life may have an impact on Thier attitude. I had a lady throwing a fit at the laundromat. I show up to give a refund and mop up the water. A plumber had already been called and was on the way. I was courteous and expeditious in handling the problem. There was nothing more I could do. Complaining and attitude is what I got in return. I'm usually reserved but I let her have it. I said I don't know where your from, but down here we respect our neighbors. @@tracylawrence5258 At this point, many just want to get out of the state entirely. We have had a steady movement up from NYC since the 1970s, but no longer.

I moved to Greenville SC about a year ago from WA state. It’s not uncommon to see drivers going 60+ in a 35. …and don’t get me started on how many drivers blatantly run red lights. It’s super dangerous to drive around here.

Nice area, my dd lives there! ❤
It's not just a week of pollen, it's three months of pollen. It sucks for people with bad allergies.
Here from the D, as well. Never moving back!

It would help to have that mindset for any new people.
"inexpensive home, drive inexpensive cars, and live within our means". Best comment. All these issues would be avoided if everyone did this, but they won't because they need to live like rock stars. Why else would anyone want to move to The Villages other than to show off.

I traveled to SC escaping a hurricane in Florida 6 years ago I found the friendliest folks I’ve ever met in my life there.

You’re right. There is no place like home! And there are pros and cons anywhere we live.
It's like that everywhere, the lifers in small towns have their friends & family they talk to & socialize with
LOL! that is so true!!
I don't know of any state of people that doesn't do this.😂
When I say, "Bless your heart", I mean it. I don't know anyone who says it negatively. I've lived in the South since birth.
Thanks for sharing with others what is is really like to live in the upstate of SC. Thanks for watching.
It happens . Oh well
That’s the way it goes.

He was not exaggerating about traffic 5pm traffic in Charleston is horrendous. The state bird is mosquitoes.
Poisonous is when eating something. Venomous is something that’s injected. Snakes have venom. And there are actually 7 total venomous snakes.
The people who move South, want a peaceful nice lovely place to live, yet the first things they do is yell, "change, change, change." We lived in Atlanta metro for 35 years, so many of the things on your list (pollen, humidity, food, etc.) are already familiar. 😁
Now, I'm dealing with the opposite -- people driving 35 in a 45 mph zone.

Thanks for watching and sharing your story
Snowbirds in PA too. They pass out candy Halloween nite, then leave for Florida & don't come back till May 1st
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed this helpful video
And if you survive the first week, you repeat.😂
No the food is not always good but the people are nice
It's called "Southern Slop". I will say the food scene is excellent Upstate South Carolina in Greenville.

Thank you Jerry, for keeping it 💯👍
Thank you! Glad you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching.
That's right!!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your story. If you ever decide to move here, we have a ton of super helpful info to share just give our office a call 843-839-9870
Remember, your in a tourist spot, that's the reason for all those tacky stores.
Military is how they stay alive😊
What about crime? I heard Myrtle Beach has lots of it.
Take Care 😇
I don't want anymore people to move here either. Our schools and roads can't handle the traffic.
Unfortunately, the secret is out of the bag and others know about our gem.
This was very entertaining. Well done. The pollen scared me off. The rest, I could deal with.
Maybe not the healthiest lifestyle overall either.
which states do you recommend for year-round active lifestyles ?
Sounds like your talking about Las Vegas July thru August lol.. i live in Vegas but its not that bad bcuz its the dry heat right? Haha.
LOL! Try living in a state where it's cold 7 months out of the year and you don't want to go outside either. I'd rather be hot than cold. AC and a swimming pool sounds great to me
Exercise in the early morning?
@@rocker76m88 This is exactly what I always say! I live in a state that only has 4 good months. The rest are Ice Cold.
I see a possibility for a high-paying job in 2 cases:
Thanks for letting others know and sharing your story thanks for watching. See you in the next video.

Humid weather in the 90's is nice for a change compared to 121 degrees from April to November any day, 9. Lower income means lower taxes, the money is there, it just might take a little longer to find your groove, 10. forgot what this one is. Can't wait to move. Got 3 months to go before I get there.

So true not only in SC but inTexas also. We absolutely love living here, food is very different, delicious, but different. Everyone is so friendly and yes the weather is so different. Our quality of life is 100% better
Would definitely use your team if we ever move again
We are being transferred to Charleston from Georgia. All your talking points apply here as well. Except for hospitality. I find that people are friendly, like they will say hi and chit chat, but won’t open their homes to you. Most welcoming place I have ever lived was St Louis.
Thanks for watching and sharing your story for others.

Asheville crime has skyrocketed unfortunately
Tracy,
The way you describe your small town is very much the way it is in rural upstate NY. Many of us here are very pleased that the NYC/Down-Stater folks are moving South. We are very familiar with the attitude you are observing... Good luck!!
@@jamesbecker3420 Awe come on now. Your closer. You take them. :)
Maybe a slower pace of life may have an impact on Thier attitude. She admitted she moved from NY a couple yrs ago to get away from people like herself. She apologized and I apologized for my outburst. She actually hugged me. We are all people and deserve respect.
@@tracylawrence5258 At this point, many just want to get out of the state entirely. We have had a steady movement up from NYC since the 1970s, but no longer. I personally retired and decided to stay in NY because I have a support network in place. I enjoy the rural lifestyle, raise livestock, make maple syrup, cut/burn wood, fish/hunt, etc. Not interested in being a "carpetbagger" either, lol. Every place has it's "issues" and you just adapt/overcome as best as you can... One day at a time... : )
