The chem lab actually makes a lot of sense to me. If the mayor was producing his own supply of chems for the city then it would make sense that he would heavily tax anything that didn't come from him.
blee10988 Good point. Been watching Breaking Bad lately so I may be thinking a bit more like a criminal than would be normal for me but in that scenario if I were the Mayor I wouldn't just ban chems since it would make the ones I was producing stand out. Make a profit on the outside chems AND sell your own much cheaper? Makes sense to me.
2:30 people may not always pick up after themselves, but a functional government wouldn't let huge piles of garbage accumulate. I find it hard to believe that a city that has a guy who meticulously paints the wall wouldn't have either a sanitation department or a few volunteers.
DoctorPorkenfries It would be tough given that we can see there is no sanitation services for Diamond City nor does the world of Fallout 4 support the required infrastructure (equipment to move garbage on functional roads to landfills and/or incinerators). Average person creates 4-5 lbs of garbage a day, we'll say 3 for sake of argument here since not everything is wrapped and packaged. 44 people in diamond city, say 40 since a couple are synths. That's 840 lbs of garbage a week with no one and no where to dispose of it. The shanty town of Diamond City's garbage problems should be very reminiscent of our shanty towns we find in 3rd world countries however Diamond City is a utopia of cleanliness. Actually it's borderline lore breaking how clean it and the surrounding area is. I need a mod with MORE garbage! Lol
Modern people in 1st world countries may produce 4-5 lbs. of garbage a day due to everything being prepackaged, but an economy like the one in FO4 would be more like a 3rd world country, which irl averages less than half a pound per day and most of that is left over food waste. Also once you subtract the waste you could compost for fertilizer to help the crops there really wouldn't be much waste at all. So unless they are just compulsively throwing it into huge piles like hoarders getting rid of the daily waste in Diamond City wouldn't be anywhere near the herculean task it might seem.
Must remember the game is a compact version of a real world, Bethesda kind of sucks at presenting real world, Skyrim for example has no trash laying around but no sanitation department... No NPC even needs to use the bathroom but we can of course assume they would. All evidence in game suggests living in trash would actually be extremely dangerous given how large insects are. Bethesda just didn't think things through. Pack brahmins and droids could easily be what they would use and one could imagine people would in a way be recycling ( trader and scavengers would resell most of that) more simply because all items are needed, this fact is supported by how the player builds settlement using junk. Even in our modern times I don't know where you get that the average person puts out 4-5 lbs per day.In an area full of apartment buildings seems all have around 3 people in them by your numbers you are saying each garbage bin has around 80 lbs per week????? I think not. Unless people are tossing out most of their food that 80lbs all comes from empty bag and boxes? The estimates seem to just not separate business trash from people and simply divided the 2 as one for a what seems like a very off average.
Victorian England my man. Hell even America around then (maybe earlier) had shit everywhere, sometimes literally. old societies didn't have drainage, sewers, set places to throw stuff out or even care / have the knowledge that this would cause health issues. Fallout with how everything fell apart and the state it is still in would suggest they are in the mindset of these times just with uber advances shit everywhere.
Victorian England I'm pretty sure did't need to worry about molerats that jump out of the ground and are the size of pit bulls, radscorpions, bloodbugs etc all these would get around the trash especially trash near humans which would more likely have food. Sure England may have hat rats but we all know rats can't really compare to molerats those things can be viscous or outright horrifying if you take them as real. Now that I really think about it, the mutated bugs and rats alone suggest that the Fallout survivors would all be dead if they lived in shacks surrounded by trash lets not even get into rad storms... Every actual settlement seems to need to be both clean to a better degree and have concrete floors to stop molerats and eeekk radscoprions from digging under you. Just think the movie Tremors, smaller size but millions thousands more and more variety....

Runu well i like shoddycast alot simply for the lore vids and light yet still fitting humor the channel has. but im just glad to hear oxhorns voice again really on one of my favorite game world settings.
B.K. Price must have been hard for him to figure out which one of them was the one he decided was his friend. You are right, no wonder he thought it was a city of synths. And if you think about it, the mayor is so maybe the guards are like that for a reason. ????

For those watching this video as of Dec 1, 2018, I should let you know that Diamond City Expansion V 1.4 is much bigger now than when it was reviewed in this video. It's actually quite amazing now, and after much debate I've decided to use it in a new playthrough. You should check it out again. It now has an extensive section under the red seat areas (the bleacher seats on the left side as your enter the city) which has a completely new bar/nightclub, and there are deluxe houses in an expanded upper stands area (right besides the Mayor's office, which in fact now connects to the new area). It's all quite awesome. I was trying a couple of the other mods listed here, which are also quality mods (Diamond City Expanded, Diamond City Plus) but the Expansion one was my favorite. Thanks Oxhorn for this video.
Related to the first option, there's a mod I want to reccomend; Healthier Commonwealth. It lets nature reclaim the wastelands, covering everything in thick overgrown grass, the trees more alive.
I just gotta say this guy really does put a lot more effort into these Fallout 4 videos compared to any other RUclipsr I've seen. Quality stuff right here, I applaud you Ox
I Have a Dream -That one DAY - mod Authors will work together to make a Ultimate Diamond City. All in one total Overhaul combining all these mods *LETS PRAY NOW*
Fuses can be found around the wasteland. You need to finde/buy the fuses to repair the fuse box and restore the ventilation in the chem lab. This then also fixes the terminal allowing you to acces the options.
I like a lot of these mods. I think if the world did suffer a nuclear fallout then things would be picked up and things would fixed and life would be somewhat normal. Sometimes I think the Fallout series pushes the trash look a bit much but I see where they are coming from on the dirty style.
Plus with the hydroponics and farming you would likely find people using converted sewage into it so maybe an add on to the water treatment to include something along those lines?
24:49 I love how Preston was looking at the "sexy men" posters on the wall and when you suddenly walk in he turns the head and just like "Oh I was just sitting, not staring at this beautif- hum... Abs.. At all..." Time to get out of the closet man, don't worry, we love you as you are.
The chem lab in 'Diamond City Expansion' makes perfect sense with the 'Diamond City Blues' quest, especially with it being abandoned. There are three possible explanations that fit the lore. #1: The chem lab was in use before the current mayor took office. #2: The lab was open during McDonough's time in office and simply paid the taxes. #3: It was open during McDonough's time, and they were manufacturing black market chems right in Diamond City, rather than smuggling them inside. Other criminals (perhaps the same criminals) started smuggling in black market chems only after the lab shut down.
Clones (Clone Troopers) were decommissioned by the rise of the empire, although some units remained (501st is well known). Stormtroopers used by the empire would have been normal humans along with a couple of clones (probably no longer front line units but as training, you get the point, it's mostly non clones), and by the First Order, probably no Clones would've survived and joined. (At least one clone did survive up to this point, circa 35 ABY)
I just want to say, I love all the effort you put into this video, it’s amazing, the mod source in order of time, the review length in order! Absolutely amazing work dude!
Two things that always bugged me, the size of Diamond "City" and I didn't know Nick could wear sunglasses until 300 hrs into the game. Another great video sir.
Since most of the esp's in my load order consist of quest mods and weapon mods I'd have to try these out after I've completely been fulfilled with my playthrough, I still can't imagine the amazing possibilities if an esp limit was somehow able to be lifted, but either way, I'm amazed at how far fallout 4 mods have come in a little over a year. I love these mod showcases and I feel you present them very well! Awesome vid!
I snickered to myself when you said "Without all of the Diamond City guards looking like storm trooper clones." Cuz I'm playing my game and I got my guy decked out in clone trooper armor and so is Preston Garvy! This was just perfect! Keep on makin these videos OxHorn! You're the man!
There should be a mod for the post-game where you start expanding Diamond City by retaking the surrounding city blocks from the raiders and super mutants, fortifying the outer buildings into an "outer wall", build walls between buildings to secure the perimeter, ect. Each quadrant would become it's own settlement, with settlers reclaiming most of the intact buildings. You could even have the option to demolish some buildings outside the perimeter with explosives or even artillery fire, so as to remove possible staging areas for hostiles. You don't allow an enemy base to stand right across the street from your outpost after all, especially if it gives them a better sniper position than you.
You are a MACHINE I have no idea how you manage to put out so much content on such a regular schedule but hats off to ya. I watched your stream last night and was looking forward to this all day. Thanks for everything you do, man.
I think Bethesda really dropped the ball with the entire mods idea. The Sony thing hurts big time too. But imo they could've had dlc content based around user submitted addons that really could've changed things up and gave new life and direction to the game. I mean there's mods with quests that with some organisation would be unbelievable to offer players.
Oxhorn, the cleaner Diamond City Environment may also help out with framerate issues on PCs that have that issue. When I had an older PC, circa 2009, I couldn't go into or near Diamond City without it feeling choppy and lagging before usually crashing to desktop. The issue with those areas for my PC at the time was the clutter causing the system to work too hard. So that mod should help those that have such issues in Diamond City.
I'm amazed at the number of top notch mods available for Fallout. Thanks for sharing these different & amazingly talented mods/creators. Ox, could you please do some more lore on Diamond City? For the videos that you've already completed, could you place them in a playlist on your channel? Thanks!
I really dislike the trash piles and debris piles everywhere. Surely, in the settled areas in Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas, people would clean up? I understand the mess in ruins, or unsettled desert, or even something like Freeside as it's a poor area, like areas in America, which do have that kind of mess IRL, or something like Primm or Quincy which has been attacked by raiders or something, and is still a ruin unti, someone resettles it, but why in the middle of a city? I wish there was a mod to clean up Goodsprings, Novac, the Strip, Freeside and stuff in Fallout New Vegas too, as that's what I play.
the strip actually made me mad. the whole game is hyped around the attraction of a post-war Las Vegas, and when you arrive? not only is it underwhelming, but it's covered in trash and broken up pavement. like yeesh you'd think Mr. house would have a Mr handy or two
I would like to point out, the terminal with the messages between Yefim and Vadim are actually canon. At least as far as I've seen, it appears in Vanilla FO4 (This was playing on Xbox One) and is basically the same.
Especially the last Diamond City mod could be continued, not by adding more residents or more houses and interior, but by creating quests for each of them because of their unique setting. I imagine these quests will be taking Sole Survivor to all kinds of places all over the map, some of them yet new additions to building interior apartments, stores, or whatever will fit with the story line of a particular quest and the house in Diamond City where it started out. Others might start in a building or factory, i.e. somewhere in the Commonwealth where Sole Survivor is sure to pass by at some point in the game (so that the players doesn't overlook and miss the quest opportunity) while others might begin by listening to Diamond City locals chatter/talk/whisper, or it could be an assignment added to the notice board or given by Nick Valentine (or alternatively by his secretary). The possibilities are almost endless. But even in it's current form I would love to have this mod. I hope that once I've downloaded the mods that I feel I must have (many or most of them settlement related) there will still be room to install a few more mods such as the ones you have presented in this video, without breaking the game through incompatibility and/or an fps capacity that can't keep up. Ah, if we didn't have to consider such issues, think of the many, many mods we could install, we could add more or less everything that think would make the game world of Fallout 4 complete. And I share your wish to maintain the feel and look of the Fallout 4 world's post apocalyptic atom bombed remains, that's probably a good deal of the reason why I like to watch you present the mods that you choose for your videos so much....And of course, I really like your style, the way you present your content, but you already know that, and it's wonderful to see how many people feel the same way as I do. :)
So, where was Ricky Dalton in this video? :) (I know, it's another character) I think you found out why the Diamond City security never investigates disappearances. They've all been replaced by identical synths! Also I get the feeling that Viktor and Vicktoria from the one mod are *ahem* employees at the Den. At least that's going to be my headcannon until the author expands the mod. Good work all around though. I'll have to check out a couple of these. I know that this was a big project, but have you given any thought to possibly doing a Goodneighbor mods video like this one sometime down the road?
Biggest in the Commonwealth ( though player beats it). In the West Vegas alone trumps it, NCR eclipse it given they apparently have 200k or so people and spreading.
Hello Mr. Oxhorn, As one gentleman to another, I politely request that you make a video of the current update to the Diamond City Expansion Mod that you have previously reviewed. The creator has continued to expand said mod, and so much more than what you covered at the time of this video, has been added. Thank you in advance & THANK YOU for all of your hard work you continue to do good sir. Good Cheers To You, And As Always Respectfully Your's, Mr. Trey Anthony Artson
That gate mod has saved my Xbox game, I teleported from Sanctuary right to Diamond city long before I explored it and no matter what Piper couldn't get in yet everyone treated my like I let her in
I'm sure other people in these comments have said this but, that terminal in the dugout in *is* cannon. it exists in the original game in their room, the mod author just moved it. it just drove me crazy when you were looking at it and saying it was added by the mod.

2:30 people may not always pick up after themselves, but a functional government wouldn't let huge piles of garbage accumulate. I find it hard to believe that a city that has a guy who meticulously paints the wall wouldn't have either a sanitation department or a few volunteers.
DoctorPorkenfries It would be tough given that we can see there is no sanitation services for Diamond City nor does the world of Fallout 4 support the required infrastructure (equipment to move garbage on functional roads to landfills and/or incinerators).

i'd love to learn how to combine some mods, heck i have so many patches out of my 255 that a good 75 are just fixes for bethesda's mistakes
Bethesda could have done so much more with diamond city
I just want to say, I love all the effort you put into this video, it’s amazing, the mod source in order of time, the review length in order! Absolutely amazing work dude!
Gonna do Goodneighbor next?
I hope there's one for Bunker Hill.
HOO HOO HOO, GO GOODNEIGHBOR!!!
Two things that always bugged me, the size of Diamond "City" and I didn't know Nick could wear sunglasses until 300 hrs into the game. Another great video sir.
Michael Riley I'm 800 hours into the game And I just foud that out
2:35
"Huge trash piles like this wouldn't exist." NPC disappears with trash...
0:20 "Preston tolerates you". Interesting the shoe is on the other foot, lol
29:49 was preston looking at those dudes
Since most of the esp's in my load order consist of quest mods and weapon mods I'd have to try these out after I've completely been fulfilled with my playthrough, I still can't imagine the amazing possibilities if an esp limit was somehow able to be lifted, but either way, I'm amazed at how far fallout 4 mods have come in a little over a year. I love these mod showcases and I feel you present them very well! Awesome vid!
Shrubbery?! *dramatic music*
Luke Woods shwubbery
NI NI NI NI NI
We are the knights who say nyyyeeee *even more dramatic music*
This is one of the most Useful videos Ive ever seen, Thanks for the Mods!
Josh....
...the children are immortal in Fallout now.
How would you like a mod that allows you to play at the beginning of the game (pre war (
There is a mod like that.
TheOnlyAlchimous yeah but it's shit
Would it be called preout
Its called the intro
Sad that the "Diamond City the Great Green Jewel" arent able to find on nexus mods anymore
You are a MACHINE I have no idea how you manage to put out so much content on such a regular schedule but hats off to ya. I watched your stream last night and was looking forward to this all day. Thanks for everything you do, man.
35:20 "It just works"
I really appreciate that people are still adding mods to this game
I think Bethesda really dropped the ball with the entire mods idea. The Sony thing hurts big time too. But imo they could've had dlc content based around user submitted addons that really could've changed things up and gave new life and direction to the game. I mean there's mods with quests that with some organisation would be unbelievable to offer players.
Thank you for listing the mods in the description.
2:30 "huge trash piles like this (girl disappeared)
For someone without an xbox, you did a good job of giving us console gamer viable alternatives.
Best Goodneighbor mods next?
Oxhorn, the cleaner Diamond City Environment may also help out with framerate issues on PCs that have that issue. When I had an older PC, circa 2009, I couldn't go into or near Diamond City without it feeling choppy and lagging before usually crashing to desktop. The issue with those areas for my PC at the time was the clutter causing the system to work too hard. So that mod should help those that have such issues in Diamond City.
Wish I could use last 5 mods together...
I wish there was a mod to clean up Goodsprings, Novac, the Strip, Freeside and stuff in Fallout New Vegas too, as that's what I play.
the strip actually made me mad. the whole game is hyped around the attraction of a post-war Las Vegas, and when you arrive? not only is it underwhelming, but it's covered in trash and broken up pavement. like yeesh you'd think Mr. house would have a Mr handy or two
I like the way that random person disappeared along with the trash.
where's Ricky Dalton
only the real know
I would like to point out, the terminal with the messages between Yefim and Vadim are actually canon. At least as far as I've seen, it appears in Vanilla FO4 (This was playing on Xbox One) and is basically the same.
Can you install all the Diamond City expanded mods without breaking the mods?
A llama using a pc not every single last one, some of them have conflictions with other ones. research each one carefully before downloading them.
yes,you can change diamond city to multiple things at once
I did all of them, they overlapped each other a bit tho.
Not the ones that do basically the same thing.
:) (I know, it's another character)
I think you found out why the Diamond City security never investigates disappearances.
I’m gonna install all of these mods at the same time...I need a perfect city
Did you do it?
you sound like the vault tec guy who comes up to your door at the start of fallout 4
I like the idea that all of diamond cities guards are synths and thats why they all look the same
At 26:05 look at the board to see deacon
Easy Peet I think it’s Zeke. The poster says “Have you seen this cat?” Lol
It gets rid of your unwanted trash *The Girl Disappears Too* I was laughing so hard LOL
do a little gOOgling to see if you can find a console version
Came here to check out the Diamond City Plus mod -- yeah, looks like a solid addition to a load order. :)
In my opinion Dimont City is one of the most uninteresting citys from bethesda, its not as intersting as Megaton or Rivet city.
Funny how it's meant to be one of the biggest human settlements, but I'll be surprised if it's even as big as Megaton.
Biggest in the Commonwealth ( though player beats it). In the West Vegas alone trumps it, NCR eclipse it given they apparently have 200k or so people and spreading.
Seriously. I took one look at it and I'm fairly certain that even Rivet City is larger than the coveted Diamond.
i miss rivet city...
It kinda sucks that they took out big pre made settlements to make room for player building areas.
i died when garvey was sneaking out of the bushes like he was following the resedint
full story of grantchester mansion please
I already did that one here: ruclips.net/video/HkCNZLJ2w7w/видео.html
+Oxhorn oh wow thank you! I'll look harder next time
Oxhorn Oh, that's the Scooby Doo one
"I live in the real world and I know that they don't" 😂😂
How I play, just steal and kill
2:38
Love how the mod removes trash, and then in the after pick the settler got removed
fan theory - diamond city guards are what remains of the gary population
Hello Mr. Oxhorn,
As one gentleman to another, I politely request that you make a video of the current update to the Diamond City Expansion Mod that you have previously reviewed. The creator has continued to expand said mod, and so much more than what you covered at the time of this video, has been added. Thank you in advance & THANK YOU for all of your hard work you continue to do good sir.
Good Cheers To You, And As Always Respectfully Your's,
Mr. Trey Anthony Artson
Don't mess with Josh. He knows what he's doing.
That gate mod has saved my Xbox game, I teleported from Sanctuary right to Diamond city long before I explored it and no matter what Piper couldn't get in yet everyone treated my like I let her in
@30:04 Both Leo Durocher and Betty Whiting are figures from professional baseball history. So, nice touch for Diamond City resident names.
The great green jewel mod seems like what diamond city could be after years of reconstruction efforts by the sole survivor across the common wealth.
I'm pretty sure Pauls new wardrobe is part of the vanilla game. I completed Diamond City Blues and the next time I saw him he had that outfit on.
I've never been more appreciative of timestamps
I'm sure other people in these comments have said this but, that terminal in the dugout in *is* cannon. it exists in the original game in their room, the mod author just moved it. it just drove me crazy when you were looking at it and saying it was added by the mod.
One of our scouts have found a
promising new Diamond City, I'll mark it on your map - Preston Garvey
