Glad you enjoyed it. I’ve moved on to using the N3FJP Amateur Contact Log, which I find more intuitive than HRD. But Their logbook is still really good and does the job.
Great video Tom! Question; I just started using Grid Tracker, should I stop using JTAlert? Seems like Grid Tracker takes its place. (I’m relatively new to FT8) Thanks in advance for your help.
Although GT was initially meant to be a WSJT-x companion, they have since made it work with JTalert. I’ve played a bit with JT-A, but never integrated it with GT, and I’ve been using WSJT-x almost since it was introduced, long before FT8 came along, and it’s what I’m used to. But give it a shot and let me know what you find out. My email is on QRZ.
Thanks Tom. I have been following this series, and got them working together, except, clicking on the stations call, does not start the transmission, I have to click the station on the wsjt x screen. I am going to check all my setting, per this video,.Thanks de N4IQV.
Hey man. I really appreciate these instruction videos. I would like to request one. I have the FTdx10. I want to use the HRD software, including the log as the radio. It is configured and works great. Then open up WSJT-X and select the HRD radio option. That also seems to work great. I can see the Band Activity in WSJT-X and I can see the Alerts and Contacts in HRD. My problem is when I open GridTracker it just sits there "waiting for message". I am not sure where the breakdown is. If I just use the WSJT-X first, Select the FTdx10 as the radio, Then add GridTracker, and then add the HRD log only, it all works as you see here. The problem with this way is that sometimes WSJT-X does not seem to detect any signal and I have to stop and start and reset it several times before it will work. It never has that problem when I use HRD for the radio.
I suspect that you’re having your drivers crash. You can only use one at a time. If the FTdx10 is set up the same as my FT-991A, then you have a separate RS232 (db9) port. Use that for HRD, and use the USB drivers for WSJT-x. This is only speculation on my part but give it a try and let me know if it works…. 73 de Tom-ND3N

Should we have the WSJT-x Setting Rig: set to Ham Radio Deluxe OR Icom IC-7300?
Ic-7300 or your rig

Glad to help!
after GT sends it to LOTW.... will HRD Logbook automatically switch "LOTW Sent" to Yes?
Not sure, but that’s how it works for N3FJP
