  • Tow tune on a 2016 Nissan patrol with the much loved ZD30 Crd (common rail) motor.
Putting down some staunch gains and most importantly amazing drivability with improved response over factory figures at the wheel and over the previous tuners efforts.
We set the fuelling in a super conservative area to make this Patrol run nice and cool in the WA heat when towing the big caravan.
Tuning any diesel is all about knowing how hard each engine, fuel system and turbo can be pushed to maximise gains. This knowledge and the skills needed to execute can only be learned over years in the trade working with the best in the game.
All our calibrations are done directly to the stock ECU, which is the most reliable way to tune, it's also the most technical, hence why others will use modules and other gimmicks to help them sell tunes.
This Patrol is fitted with the following only and is the ultimate tow vehicle now.
    -3" manta exhaust
    -RMR boost controller
    -PDI front mount intercooler

@@PatrickPereira-w8h thanks Patrick, was a pleasure. Glad we could get your zd30 running right and then tune it. Sure makes a big difference for drivability 😊 bless you mate

My crd got tuned at modified a few years ago now stock turbo and injectors although i have replaced injectors and pump. 21psi safe tune made 175hp and 470nm had to upgrade to a gfb v2 boost controller and its been reliable as for years now nearly at 300k!!! Definately makes them much nicer to drive

Yep so that’s about 140hp at the wheels and 400nm.
Mod have a hub Dyno we have a chassis Dyno so figures are lower. Our percentage gain is larger though.
What was your power and torque stock on the hubs? It will be on your Dyno report

@Reuben_rmr 105hp and 299nm. Tuned 3.5 years ago and probably done 70 odd thousand ks in that time drives super nice maybe I got lucky with the tune. I rarely tow but plenty of 4x4 mainly soft beach and dune stuff I do have an exedy clutch with smf aswell

@@Swwa89 they are great and strong motors. One of mine is 300hp and 315k 😁
So you put down 105hp stock, let’s look at percentage gained here, because that’s what matters. Two figures from the same Dyno. The Dyno is a tuning tool and they read different depending on style- hub or chassis and also tyre size on chassis.
Hp gains, you have a 66% gain over stock if you started at 105hp.
Untuned run for my guy was 90hp so that’s an 88% gain 😲
      Torque gain on yours 57%.
Torque gain on ours 61% we can achieve a larger torque gain than this one, we were conservative, as we were looking for nice smooth power delivery.

Looks like you guys really know what your doing with these!!! If I end up blowing a turbo or whatever and need a retune I will come to you guys, I'm really happy with how mine drives for a heavy 4 cylinder old diesel. Since tune I very rarely use the evc

20psi, perfect for the factory turbo efficiency window

Do you guys work on 1kz surfs much? Looking at my options with either manual pump or aftermarket ecu. Early model pump with a 1k5 resistor on the pump timing and 1/4 turn on spill control valve, makes 12-13psi full go. Cheers

Sometimes, pretty rare to find one worth working on these days and not something we focus on. Ash knows too much about 4Runners and surfs ⬇️

get a mechanical pump for it. youll never look back. especially if you have all the cooling sorted.

Nah don’t see many and most people ditch them because they are slow and the gearbox’s are inferior to every other manual gearbox option in the patrol.
They can make decent power with a 12mm pump and turbo upgrade etc. Not something I’m interested in promoting. Also like any diesel you have to drop $$ to make them fast. At least 10k-15k on a rd28

Whatever it is, for the performance gain and improved economy it’s the best mod you can do by far.
The tune itself is usually cheaper than the exhaust fitted, for reference, for most of the diesels we do.
Cost is far from a right leg, especially when you consider you get a fuel saving. Even going all out power with our calibrations you’ll save fuel purely on efficiency gained
