I'd recommend everyone have a solid detangling method. Tool, fingers, gel, cream, prayer - something! It just makes your entire hair journey so much less frustrating.
I ordered the scalp massager a few days ago and I just used it tonight and let me tell you!!!!! It felt sooooooo good thank you so much for this recommendation. I love it and I love your channel ❤❤❤
I love the list you’ve compiled I’d like to add a great de tangling tool. I’m new to the oldie but goodie Felicia Leatherwood brush and I’m really pleased with the pain free process and superb results❤️
Yes!!! Love this video. Definitely will check out these products. I massage my scalp daily. I see a dermatologist for my thinning hair. And I recently saw your video about thinning hair and alopecia. I started using pumpkin seed oil. The one I use is leven Rose pumpkin seed oil. My hair is soft. And It's 💯 pure and organic. I think every woman should check out oil rinses and deep conditioning. It moisturizes the hair and it also helps with length retention. I started doing it. And have seen amazing results. Thank you for sharing! Love and Light.💖💖🙏🙏☮️☮️
Happy Passover/ Resurrection Day✨✨✨. The one product that I think every women should own is African Pride Moisture Miracle Rose Water and Argan Oil Soft and Smooth Curl Mousse. Great video always love hearing, trying, and learning from your advice and recommendations Thank You So Very Much. 🥰🥰
I love the As I Am Cleansing Pudding. You recommended it in one of your videos. I’m on my fifth or sixth bottle. Very moisturizing and my hair and scalp feel clean after shampooing.
I truly love your videos & appreciate you taking the time to make them! 🥰 1 product that is every women should have: a good deep conditioner. I love the Adwoa Baomint Deep Conditioning Treatment!
I love their leave in but the fragrance doesn't work for me. I should probably try their DC instead. It's a great line, just unfortunately the scent triggers my allergies.
Ma' Dukes aka Latasha thoughts 💭 I am an OLE School Chic, so Suave Almond and Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner... And Aussie Moist Shampoo and Conditioner is a second winnerup? My hair is THRIVING!!!
i would really appreciate if you could also mention when to use and what to do afterwards. Like this comes after conditioner and you can leave it on or rinse that kind of details.
I believe every Type 4 &/or or 3C natural should own a *quality* leave-in: A leave-in that does not have glycerin high on the ingredients list because type 4 (and 3Cs) deal w frizz, and frizz causes tangles and therein breakage (glycerin draws moisture to the hair … in stylers, it’s best if that ingredient is far down the list). Also, everyone w type 4 should consider having on hand a gel that has PVP/VA as the holding agent: Don’t have to use it all the time; but on those humid days or when u want your style to truly stay put, PVP/VA copolymers are going to keep everything in place for 5+ days - no matter the weather.
@Renessa Austin My favorite right now is the Pattern leave-in (Tracee Ellis Ross): I’m actually on my second *tub* of that stuff (they call the size “jumbette”) - it’s fantastic. Before getting hooked on Pattern, I really liked two by Camille Rose: the coconut water leave-in and also the Love Milk leave-in (the Milk for when I wanted something a bit heavier). Good luck!
PVP is known for causing flaking so I tend to avoid it in gels. I learned about it from polymer chemist Tonya McKay (a naturally curly contributor) many years ago, but there's also a thread on Chemists Corner about it.
@Renessa Austin in that case a gel with PVP might work for you, but I'm completely opposite (cold climate / low to normal humidity, and low porosity hair). I have found that my hair loves gels with film forming humectants. Afope Atoyebi made a video called "How To Keep Natural Hair Moisturized" that describe how they work. The gel I found that worked extremely well for me was the Medium Hold Avocado Curl Custard from NaturAll. I got so many compliments on my hair when I used that gel, and I had used it in the winter too. My hair stayed moisturized and defined for 2 weeks, which is unheard of for me. Didn't have to re-moisturize at all. When I checked their website recently it seems they no longer make it. I'm Glad I stocked up towards the end of last year so I got a couple in my stash. Maybe you should try layering a combination of products like NJ Eberhart typically does, she also lives in a warm climate. I've also seen some women using mousse, gel and a leavein who live in hot climates. The only draw back with mousse is there's a tendency for the hair not too last as long due to the volume it gives. I tried mousse myself recently and it worked very well when I didn't use a leavein but a liquid based heat protectant because I blow dried my hair too.
@Renessa Austin A great gel for high-humidity environments (like where I am now, here in New Orleans) is by Cantu = “Cantu Maximum Hold Styling Gel” … There are two in that line, but I like the one that says “with flaxseed and olive oil”. It contains the important PVP/VA copolymer that will keep your style in place, despite humidity (also, glycerin is very far down on the ingredients list).
Hi from Charlotte NC ☺ plus I really like your videos. Chock full of information and you a beautiful young woman. God bless. Btw, it's As I am twisting creme
Hi Tonya. I came across your channel recently. And i learnt so much from video. Can you please share/show what is the correct way to correctly wash the scalp? Thank you.

I like this format and hope you continue making these type of recommendations. We all should have a deep conditioner(s) in our regimen. Alikay Natural's Honey and Sage and Soultanicals Glide & Go Deep Ayurvedic Fenugreek Treatment Mask are a couple of my favorites.
Hi. Can you do a video for women like me who can not touch soybean based products and should avoid it as food? I have Graves - Hypothyroidism and struggle with hair care ingredients. Please and thank you.
It's definitely the best scalp treatment I ever used in terms of sensation. I stopped purchasing products from the brand only because I wanted to challenge myself to convert as many of my products over to black owned brands. Plus, after accumulating several empty glass jars after a year and a half, I couldn't think of anything else to do with them. I already had 3 with fresh aloe vera gel in them in my mini fridge and one with cotton pads in them. It just seems wasteful to throw them away.
This company Passionate Curls do their hair oils like the first product you mentioned. They will customize it for your hair goals and the owner personally works with you to get the right product that will meet your hair goals!
Is it safe to have benzoic acid in hair products along with products with citric acid as a preservative? Anything to worry about? Maybe a video on this please?
I need a really great deep conditioner and leave-in, with great slip for my 4c hair. However, I was really intrigued to try the Function of Beauty line but something told me to just delete it and try something else.
Just an fyi, she has a video on 5 leave in conditioners to use regardless of porosity. I purchased 3 of the ones she spoke of, all were great purchases. All three left my hair very moisturized, soft and with slip.
I have loved all of your videos . I understand that you are a natural hair specialist but I have recently decided to go back to my relaxer. I was just wondering if it was at all possible if you could mention in your videos anything about relaxed hair. If your not comfortable with making any suggestions I understand and want you to know I have trusted and loved the content of your videos.
