I think Tyler's clothes work so well is because they are tailored for his body, so they look so natural and comfortable especially when standing next to Narrator, who's clothes are oversized and baggy and look a father's hand-me-downs on a kid. Which all fits the movie's theme of Narrator trying to fit in (literally and figuratively) while Tyler does, says, and wears what he wants.

The overall vintage/thrifted aesthetic was very influential for my style growing up. Plus Brad Pitt is so effortlessly cool, he’s been a style icon of mine since I was a kid.
I’m dressing like him. Seeing Fight Club for the first time was a big moment in my life and though this may not been what was intended: it served as a symbol to be myself. Tyler himself to me is all about being yourself unflinchingly, I do take heavy inspiration from him but I also do my own thing. Cowboy boots and belt, crop tops, lots of leather jackets some being red, etc. To me dressing like Tyler doesn’t mean copying him, Tyler dresses like Tyler because he is Tyler, his wardrobe is a culmination of his likes. If you wanna dress like him, dress yourself in what defines you, pay no attention to trends or color theory or anything, thrift all the pieces you want without worrying about making it work together and go home, spend 30 minutes in the mirror trying on clothes and finding the combination you love the most. Fashion is art and the best art is that which does not compromise itself for others approval. (My real name is Tyler so that’s maybe another reason he’s such an inspiration to me even though it’s in an unintended way.)

I don't care much for fashion, but what I will say is the mans physique makes the clothes. His style works because Brad Pitt works, he's got an incredible physique and exceptional handsome lean face and a tan. If you get a pale, skinny guy with no muscle and put him in the same clothes he'll look like shit. I think the lesson is be lean, and muscular also maybe get a tan and nice clothes will look nice.

I think Tyler walking around at night with those red lens sunglasses is a nice touch to his style, I loved fight club the first time i watched it (like i didnt know anything about the movie) i bought a pair of the same glasses twice. First one I lost, the second one I guard with my life cause it's the exact lenses that are the perfect red and I'm happy. I'm so putting them on now

I read that the original was found by Kaplan and dyed to his liking but then brought to Jonathon A Logan to make the rest of the jackets for the film. That’s awesome you have so many, must’ve been dumb expensive
@Daniel Verhey lots of rumours. I've seen the original jacket it was based on and then Johnathan made changes to the design for the film. That's the version he sells. They weren't cheap no, but certainly not dumb.
I think obviously style is a lot more nuanced than yes or no, Tylers character wears what he wants and is not afraid to break norms. He mixes colours and wears combinations of men and womens clothing. since fashion is esssentially self expression, tylers clothes demostrate his mental state and personality very well. Im just a big fan of his clothes tbh lol but could just be cause bread pitt lmao
