Went to Michigan in the 1980s. Great place to watch a game with no obstructed views. The place just didn't hold noise. The added press boxes and luxury seats made a difference.
My Buckeyes were dominated on every aspect of the field. I half agree on the padlock moment. Ohio knew they were in trouble at Halftime when they tried to bully UM. Intimidation was the last defense they had. They knew it. UM stood up to the Bully at that point.
I honestly didn't think they could pull this off, proud of the boys in blue.. time to put this effort and intensity into beating Iowa and bringing home a BIG championship!!
When they added the additional luxury boxes on each side of the stadium it got infinitely loud compared to just the bowl with the press box. And I can tell you..Michigan stadium was a cheese and wine crowd..after 20 years of humiliation but really the 1st 10 years of the 2000's. It has become a really tough place to play.
Great to see Ohio State and their huge athletic budget sent packing by Michigan and out of the College Football Playoff! Michigan just plain out-played them! Great job Michigan!
I told Ohio State fans this was possible. They really thought that because they threw all over the worse pass defense in college football they were going to do that to everyone they played. Did they not watch the Penn State game? The Nebraska game? Oregon? Hell even Minnesota? All those teams were either able to run all day on Ohio St or hold down their offense well bellow their average. I told them Michigan could do both and they couldn't handle someone speaking honestly about their team 😭🤣
As an OSU fan, I can admit that we have a lot of people in our fan base that are incredibly annoying w their arrogance. It’s a shame bc people who have been long-term fans know how this team functions, and knows how differently The Game is played. We knew the red flags coming into this game, and damn did TTUN capitalize on every single one of those. Even after our dominating performance over MSU, some of us were still very questionable over our defense and OL, and I was worried ab how we could handle a playoff matchup against a Georgia or Bama (had we escaped Ann Arbor and Indy). TTUN had a perfect game plan that matched up perfectly against OSU, and they perfectly executed it. Can’t wait for next year in The Shoe. Go Bucks

I attended Michigan while the two box seats structures on the sides were being constructed, so I witnessed the noise before and after they were built. There was a noticeable increase in noise after those were built, because it's true that before, it did not feel as loud as it should've been given the number of people. I think just having those structures do even a little bit of containing some of the noise within the bowl have helped a bunch
I believe Harbaugh did make some changes not in style of play but in the way he leads. He made some coaching changes and has a more open door policy. This has been reported locally but not nationally. Sometimes change does not have to be drastic to have a drastic impact.
I was there Saturday section 23 row 40 at the 50 and it was my first college game I've ever been to and it was absolutely amazing almost 112000 people in that stadium GO BLUE
No one should blame the weather for Ohio States lose, Ohio weather is similar to Michigan's. I do understand that weather can have a impact but that's not the reason why they lost.
Please don't be blaming the weather. Ohio State has the exact same climate as Michigan does. The difference in "THE GAME"? Michigan was more ready and prepared for "THE GAME". Ohio State thought they had it in the bag as they have 10 years previously. I saw a different Michigan team in this one game than all season long. Their demeaner, poise and making plays when they needed came through. The only blemish Michigan had was the interception or the game would have been 49-27
@@thomasrozanski5549 I’ve lived in both places. Ann Arbor has very similar weather to Columbus. It snows both places. Plus weather was not a factor in this game .. Look at the photos…just a dusting on the ground and it didn’t even snow the second half, and that is when Michigan dominated the Bucknuts. If the bucknut coaches really thought that the weather was a factor, then shame on them for not running the ball more and making adjustments.
You can’t say the weather affected the game. They are both big ten teams. Ohio weather is pretty close to Michigan weather. Ohio isn’t a southern team like LSU. It does snow there.
The architecture changed when we added the luxury boxes which forced the sound back down. Before that all the sound went straight up and it was surprisingly quiet despite having 110K fans in the audience. Couple that with a more classy crowd relative to a typical OSU crowd and you had a less than intimidating environment historically
Yeah, well, the time of the old boomers sipping their wine at the big house are over. We're rowdy, we're loud, we're winning, and we're having fun doing it. No more "classy" quietness. That's not how college football is supposed to be, especially against those suckeye bastards.
What really made the key difference for UM this year? MacDonald for Brown. It seemed the TV talking heads always used to gush about Don Brown, but I was never impressed. His defenses always seemed soft in the big games. MacDonald has brought back the tough defenses I grew up with in Michigan.
I've been to a few games including an Ohio State game....and let me assure you that the Ohio State game at the Big House is a much angrier animal than other games. One reason...when you go to an Ohio State you don't sit down. I think the only time I sat was at halftime.
The reality is most coaches, and most people, are average. Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer were way above average, with Meyer being a top 3 coach ever. Ohio State replaced Meyer with an average coach and told themselves there wouldn’t be a drop off. He was able to dominate with Urbans recruits and development last year and especially in 2019. But the further they get away from Meyer the more evident the drop off is. On Saturday a team loaded with talent crapped all over themselves in front of God and everybody. You might’ve missed it, but that was the beginning of the end of the Ryan Day era at Ohio State. Larry Coker 2.0
As Jim Harbaugh said Ryan day inherited third base all he had to do was run 🏃♂️ home:: urban mejjer build Florida to national college football champions 🏆 plus Ohio state won college footbal championsl 🏆
Ryan Day has struggled this year because when he came into Columbus he hired a new defensive staff, 1 year in and he hired so well that Hafley got the BC job and sent Young, Okudah, Arnette, and Fuller to the league, the Covid season had defensive issues and now this year does too, clearly he just needs a new DC and the players need to get more experience since we have so many RS freshman, Ryan Day isn’t the first good coach to need to replace a good DC

Glad you made it to the Big House, Josh. It was a magical day, and yes, the crowd was electric- reminded me of thex1969 Smackdown of OSU in Bo's first year. UM played greT and OSU had never seen the likes of Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo, that helped contain that OSU passing attack, and the O-line was great as Hassan Haskins ran all over the Bicknuts.. look for Michigan to face UGA 8n the title game. We will not have the weather on our side, but we can give the Bulldogs a tussle. The question is how many points can we get on the nation's best defense. Would love to play an SEC team in the cold and snow sometime - a great equalizer. CA boy CJ Stroud learned on Saturday in his first snow game.
The title will be played in Indianapolis. Don't know how cold it gets under that dome, but it won't be like the orange or cotton bowls, that's for sure.
@@johnwatsoniv384 No, Indy - like ATL, where I have seen 7 SEC title games is very warm. You want the championship to be in a warm place, but sometime, I would enjoy seeing the warm weather teams have to play UM or OSU in the elements, and see how they fare. For a big event, I prefer nice weather, for all the extra time in a city besides the game. NOLA and Florida are good choices, as is the magnificent Rose Bowl.
the big house's reputation has changed in the past 10-12 years. ever since they finished renovations in 2010, and built the club and luxury suites, it has gotten much louder. couple that with the fact that UM was starving for a win against the hated rival from columbus, and yeah, it's gonna be damn loud regarding the weather issue...totally agree. that's why, as a UM fan, i'm a fan of having a strong OL and run game. in the midwest, you play in the elements often, especially in october and november. rain, wind, snow, etc. your offense can't be dependent on having perfect weather to thrive. another perfect example is 2015, when MSU had a backup QB and beat a heavily favored OSU in columbus, in which the weather (rain, wind) played a factor in neutralizing OSU's pass heavy offense, which was really out of sync that day
I have been to bryant denny, jordan hare, doak campbell, and the big house. The big house is the best atmosphere i've taken in so far. I had tickets for this game but had to cancel last minute. I hate myself now. But this was a great observation of the big ten and michigan. I've been one who has said for years, alabama can beat their chest and declare they are the kings of football after playing in the big house, spartan stadium, camp randall, the shoe, or beaver stadium in late november. saban has been there and apparently is afraid to play in that again. p.s. there is nothing better than when michigan and osu are both in a position to win the big ten east. the iron bowl has nothing over this rivalry. alabama/auburn is an in state hatfields/mccoys. no one outside alabama cares. it's like michigan/michigan state. michigan/ohio state is bitter hate between 2 whole states.
simple reality of ohio state football- lets just beat everyone by throwing the ball every play ( however you cant do that in a classic old school snowy big ten game) ohio state needs to get back to the basics and learn how to play hard nosed football
I dislike when southerners complain about the cold. Stay up north long enough and your body gets used to it. I’ve lived in the south and I got used to the weather there. A 40 degree winter day in Texas feels just as cold as 20 degree day in Michigan if you stay in either place long enough
I agree on the helmet rip off being the turning point and you are the first to say it. The UMICH players were right in his face, but it was several seconds before any Buckeye players showed up to help him. Could have been where the players happened to be on the field, but still.
Came back to watch this. GREAT podcast except for one thing….OSU has VERY similar weather to Michigan. I have lived both in Michigan and down near Columbus. I know this first hand. I Understand that this is first time you have been in Michigan and from the south, but want to post out that “weather is worse in Michigan than Columbus” is a false narrative that follows Michigan. Glad you could make it to Michigan though. I hope you enjoyed Ann Arbor despite the weather and hoped you got to see some of campus. The university of Michigan has been voted consistently the best college town in America.
I remember getting flamed on by Uncle Lou last year when I spoke about how Michigan shouldn't get rid of Harbaugh. I didn't foresee them winning this year but I thought Harbaugh was a good coach being flamed on by everyone and admittedly he brought some of that on himself. Expecting a coach to have great success in 4 years is just ridiculous to me against a team like Ohio St that has had consistent good coaching. You might be able to address a lot of concerns in 4 years but where Michigan was at when he was hired I knew that it would take a while to see progress, before Jim Harbaugh their seasonal record was atrocious for many years. This is as much honesty I can muster toward TTUN and the season they are having. Now on my Buckeyes...... Defensively, that was just an embarrassment. The one thing Ohio St has always had is a good defense and in the past it was the reason why we were so good. I remember that 2014 season, I remember going head to head with a very talented Alabama team and then just throttling Oregon. Ryan Day needs to pay a lot more attention to that side of the football because balance is always what Ohio St has been about. Offensively during that game, the offensive line didn't exist. There is always a give and take when it comes to blocking assignments, give a foot there so you can leverage your position, but Ohio St's line was giving a lot more than they were taking and put their QB in a bad position all day. Stroud responded by playing like a lion cub instead of a lion and probably had much to do with his age, but he needs to do some soul searching during the off season and be ready to go next season.
We are in utter shock. Thought yall were inept and allergic to competing at a elite level. Hell we are still confused how we didnt win. Everyone is. We are more confused then upset.

Wrong Those of us who knew what Jim was up against, the level of corruption in the boosters and the administration was astronomical I know there are those who don’t think this. But there are those of us who know it. Loyd Carr was the worst most corrupt person ever to ever coach Michigan Football.. what he did in the public eye with Brady and Greseie and Hensen, destroyed the recruiting. No 5 star player would even think about going there, only Jim Harbaugh and his Family could save Michigan Football, In fact I thought it would take 10 years before we would be at Ohio States level, he did it quicker, and it’s for good. Thank You Coach Harbaugh. Thank BBC you God for giving him the strength and conviction to stay.
Congrats to TTUN => Great game ! Coaching & motivation off the charts. Very deserving. BUT CAN WE TALK ? Everyone i know (and i know a lot of Buckeye fans) weren't surprised. Tulsa gave us all we could handle.......and => IF => IF PSU and Nebraska had any OFFENSE at all => we would have lost those games too. SMH. I'm happy for you and in the past when these things happened => i was SURE THEY WOULD BRING CHANGE. And they did. Just NEVER THE CHANGE or CHANGES we needed. We've had two of our 3rd string QB's win NATTY's ==> that's more than your program has in my lifetime ==> and Cardale Jones & Joe Burrow both did it in the past decade. It's NOT BRAGGING => it's to show how pathetic our Coaches have been and continue to be. Joe won the Heisman and was the NFL's 1st pick and he sat behind JTB-IV for years. HE DIDN'T WIN ANY OF THOSE AWARDS WITH OSU. Day benched Brendon White => one of the few bright spots on DEFENSE since he's been HC. White LIKE Cardale Jones & Dwayne Haskins => was FORCED ONTO THE FIELD => it wasn't a coaching decision. After White won the MVP of the Rose Bowl => he never started again and like Burrow => transferred. Ryan Day started Master Teague over Trey Sermon. Day played S WADE at the wrong position. Not sure ANYONE's seen as many OFFENSIVE PENALTIES as we've endured in what seems to be FOREVER NOW. There's a bunch of things really wrong here but no one cares and hardly anyone notices. SO THANK YOU !!! MAYBE. Kimmie has out coached us many times (2016 & 2017 for sure in addition to 2021) => but somehow it just never happened for him. TTUN has been way overdue. IF the REF SPOT had been different or you hadn't forced JTB out of THE GAME ==> things would be very different. Don't get me wrong => i'm a Buckeye fan and i'm glad those things went how they did. Not sure how BUCKEYE NATION gave Meyer any credit ==> but HE SURE GOT IT ALL AND THEN SOME ! But please don't think you saw our best players.....or our best schemes.....or our best play calling => many of us know it's just not true. Day has beaten all of the lesser talented teams every year w/o knowing how to coach at a college level. He doesn't care, doesn't understand, doesn't even make an effort on the defensive side of the ball. Special Teams aren't that special either but the new rules have helped us not be quite as exposed as we should be. We don't return kicks or punts => we play a wussified version of football. Day and Olave held our QB-1's hand throughout much of the year and we rarely attack DOWNFIELD with a pass until the game is over or when there's NO SCORE yet at the very beginning. I just wanted to say THANKS FOR HELPING ME REMEMBER HOW FOOTBALL IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED. Hope it wakes my team up => but I'm positive our Coaches will need a lot more b!+ch$laps to wake up and make significant changes. Still......and always......GO BUCKS !!!
Yes it is. michigan fan but have lived in ohio for 51 years and the weather this time of year is horrible. bitter cold, rain, snow, and ice on everything. weather was not a factor in this game toughness was.
Honestly, the comment about the weather is understandable but, a lot of these kids are not from Michigan and come from all over the country and go out there and play their asses off. Ohio State was not saved by the weather at all. They looked distraught and seemed like half their demeanor was left on the bus almost. The only thing that weather does is separate the strong from the weak. Who can fend off the cold? Who can push through it and play their best game? You cannot prepare for snowy weather or cold weather, you cannot simulate that. Michigan just came ready and outplayed Ohio State at every aspect.
Agree with your comment. You make an excellent point that many of these players from both teams have not grown up in the North and not used to colder weather. However I will add that the weather in Columbus is very similar to the weather in Ann Arbor. I live currently in Ohio and have lived in Michigan for many many years.
Plus michigan was in a few brawls this year and learned when you get punched in the mouth you tighten you chin strap not take your helmet off. OSU is too finesse and does not respond to a getting punched in the mouth.

And Jim harbaugh can tell Ryan Day FINALLY HE CAN SHOVE THAT BITTER BLUE PILL DOWN HIS THROAT ! Thank you 24/7 sports now that I did see until Fox sports did 👍. Early in the year the Oregon ducks ran right through the Ohio State buckeyes defense so why not Michigan and they did it and now they're the Big ten champions ! Michigan score 6 of 7 touchdowns instead of selling for field goals ? Old school 🏈 belong on grass and 🌨️ ! The buckeye showed they were made mental mistakes and it cost them the game ! Jim had to go to baby brother John for Mike McDonald from the Baltimore Ravens give him credit on Ben but don't break against the high power Ohio State buckeyes offense !

So Brown was the instigator in that? He was ticked because his foot was being held. After trying to get up 3 times he had enough and ripped the helmet off. Your commentary is missing some important elements buddy.
It’s not really, though. For 2 reasons 1. We don’t know how it actually started, because the video starts with Wilson on his back hands up like Brown was taking forever to get up. Perhaps that’s what started it. We don’t know, because we don’t see the start. 2. Ripping a helmet off is not the same as holding onto a leg. Brown lost his cool over something small and threw a tantrum. And a helmet.
You need to watch the video again. It's plan as day. I'm not arguing ripping a helmet off is worse, but the penalty should've went against the instigator as well.
An insider for OSU said Brown instigated it because when he was laying on the MI player, he was elbowing him in his ribs and stomach area. That is why Brown didn’t get off of him until the Michigan player grabbed his ankle. Then Brown grabbed the helmet of the MI player. The OSU insider was livid at Brown for doing this and not keeping his cool. I was told this by others also.
This is why people were complaining about Stroud running the ball. If he would've took off a few times he would've slowed down that pass rush a little. Plus he would've took less sacks too. They had crowd noise issues all season long which was weird. The other thing I don't get why they had problems stopping the run when you know it's there bread and butter. They should've been run blitzing them all game
The coaches have managed to coach class right out of the collegiate athlete and they're missing the much bigger point of the whole entire endeavor which transcends the Win Loss column. A microcosm for what is happening to the rest of the country. Very sad to see. The fruits of such will end in disaster unless of course there is a cultural awakening. A Chuck Bednarik or Joe Montana would never behave that way in the tunnel. Great competitors, but even greater sportsman, which is a concept fallen on deaf ears in this age of ego gratification driven by social media chest thumping. Very sad to witness. Call me old school. Now let us pray 🙏.
Ohio State lost the Michigan game when Ryan Day used the Urban Meyer method of hiring friends and family for assistant coaches and made Kerry Combs DC. Why recruit 5-star players and use 2-star coaches? Under Ryan Day, no defensive player he has signed has been named first-team All-Big Ten.
Think about this how many times do teams over react to the helmet ripping off and take a cheep foul and now the ripping team doesn't get a penalty for it
What I saw was a team of mostly freshman & sophomores, who’ve never really experienced THE GAME trying their hardest to hype themselves up against a team of mostly seniors & super seniors who were (for real) hyped because they’re tired of getting their ass beat year in and year out by that other team. No excuses, Michigan flat out played better on Saturday and rolled the Buckeyes. But as a Buckeyes fan, I ain’t mad. This is Michigan’s win for the current decade. Another 8-9 ass whoopins and the Wolverines will probably win another one in 2031 or so.
"a team of mostly seniors and super seniors" isn't accurate. Michigan will lose significant pieces like Hutchinson and Haskins, but there a lot of contributors on both offense and defense coming back (hopefully including Ojabo).
I'm pretty sure almost all of Michigan's 2 deep on defense is underclassmen, just about all the offensive skill players are underclassmen outside of Haskins, and the o line is definitely not made up of all seniors either, so idk where you're getting this from.
List of starters not seniors or super seniors. Trevor Keegan. Zack Zinter. Eric all. Mike sainristil. Cornelius Johnson. Roman Wilson. Cade McNamara. 8 on offense Chris Hinton, David ojabo, mazi smith, junior colson, dj tuner, Daxton hill, rod Moore. 7 on defense So much for your feisty underclassmen story.

And TTUN has a small budget?
Enjoy it its not bad ,you are still 2 in 20yrs
And 1 and 6 in Hairball era ?
I told Ohio State fans this was possible. They really thought that because they threw all over the worse pass defense in college football they were going to do that to everyone they played. Did they not watch the Penn State game? The Nebraska game? Oregon? Hell even Minnesota? All those teams were either able to run all day on Ohio St or hold down their offense well bellow their average. I told them Michigan could do both and they couldn't handle someone speaking honestly about their team 😭🤣
New offensive and defensive line coach incoming for OSU.
As a Buckeye fan my exact comment before the game was whoever wins the line of scrimmage wins this game. Our DL got mauled.

No one should blame the weather for Ohio States lose, Ohio weather is similar to Michigan's. I do understand that weather can have a impact but that's not the reason why they lost.
Plus the snow wasn’t that bad and it cleared in the second half
I've been to the Big House a few times as a visitor. Each time it was really bumping. Those boxes seem to have really helped trap that sound in.
Happy for Harbaugh
Please don't be blaming the weather. Ohio State has the exact same climate as Michigan does. The difference in "THE GAME"? Michigan was more ready and prepared for "THE GAME". Ohio State thought they had it in the bag as they have 10 years previously. I saw a different Michigan team in this one game than all season long. Their demeaner, poise and making plays when they needed came through. The only blemish Michigan had was the interception or the game would have been 49-27
So true. The weather in both Columbus and Ann Arbor is very similar.
exactly why i came to the comments to see whats being said about it. Ohio state plays in the exact same weather as michigan, what a idiotic comment.

Great video, great take. And thanks for letting them use the tunnel video, that was awesome.
You can’t say the weather affected the game. They are both big ten teams. Ohio weather is pretty close to Michigan weather. Ohio isn’t a southern team like LSU. It does snow there.
To all the Buckeye fans: I TOLD YOU SO LOL

Great analysis.
That tunnel thing happens every single game with michigan OSU at Michigan.
the big house's reputation has changed in the past 10-12 years. ever since they finished renovations in 2010, and built the club and luxury suites, it has gotten much louder. couple that with the fact that UM was starving for a win against the hated rival from columbus, and yeah, it's gonna be damn loud
regarding the weather issue...totally agree. that's why, as a UM fan, i'm a fan of having a strong OL and run game. in the midwest, you play in the elements often, especially in october and november. rain, wind, snow, etc. your offense can't be dependent on having perfect weather to thrive.
another perfect example is 2015, when MSU had a backup QB and beat a heavily favored OSU in columbus, in which the weather (rain, wind) played a factor in neutralizing OSU's pass heavy offense, which was really out of sync that day
I have been to bryant denny, jordan hare, doak campbell, and the big house.
This is not the first time Ohio State has played poorly in bad weather. They need a clinic in cold weather tackling.

@@lloydkline1518 can't blame 2013 on the weather.

All those 5 stars at suckeyes, but don't play as one team

I know there are those who don’t think this. But there are those of us who know it.
Loyd Carr was the worst most corrupt person ever to ever coach Michigan Football.. what he did in the public eye with Brady and Greseie and Hensen, destroyed the recruiting. No 5 star player would even think about going there, only Jim Harbaugh and his Family could save Michigan Football,
In fact I thought it would take 10 years before we would be at Ohio States level, he did it quicker, and it’s for good.

The Hatfields and Mccoys...I'm from Michigan...but if we were to describe this feud who would Ohio & Michigan be out of the two?

Isn’t it cold in Ohio to?
Yes it is. michigan fan but have lived in ohio for 51 years and the weather this time of year is horrible. bitter cold, rain, snow, and ice on everything. weather was not a factor in this game toughness was.

So Brown was the instigator in that? He was ticked because his foot was being held. After trying to get up 3 times he had enough and ripped the helmet off. Your commentary is missing some important elements buddy.
It’s not really, though. For 2 reasons
It's about time they beat the bucks. It only took how long?
It’s a long ride back too the horseshoe

The coaches have managed to coach class right out of the collegiate athlete and they're missing the much bigger point of the whole entire endeavor which transcends the Win Loss column. A microcosm for what is happening to the rest of the country. Very sad to see. The fruits of such will end in disaster unless of course there is a cultural awakening. A Chuck Bednarik or Joe Montana would never behave that way in the tunnel.

Mikey, Michigan is going to be whipping your ass for years to come so get used to it.

7 on defense
So much for your feisty underclassmen story.
