Great video. My LG Front Load Washer was Model WM2140CW, but everything was almost identical to the machine in the video. After going to RUclips, the problem I assumed was a faulty Hall Sensor as the machine was giving a repeated LE error code. Ordered the part online through Amazon and took a little over a week to arrive. Cost with tax was $14.63. Job took about 45 minutes total. The cover to the motor, the motor, the wiring were almost identical to what was in the video. Even the 10mm socket was the same. For novices, the motor is like a huge magnet. There's a noticeable pull when removing the cover to the motor. Machine now works great. Much better than paying $648 (on sale) plus taxes, plus $50 to haul away the old washer. A minimum of $750, when the problem was a faulty part that can fit into the palm of your hand. Replaced the old hoses just to be safe.
Thank you so much for this video! I fixed my LG washer that was suffering the same issue, but I wouldn’t have had the confidence to do it without this very helpful video. I ordered the sensor from Amazon for $13. Then I watched your video a couple more times, and using basic tools I already had, replaced the sensor myself. To anyone wondering if this can be done, I say, if I can do it, you can do it too.
wow! this is the real deal! i can't believe it was this simple to fix my washer! my wife is proud of me for fixing our washer! thank a million for this video!
Video is perfect to follow, easy fix now that I know what I was looking for. Got the part and changed it in about 20 mins. Thanks for the tips. They tried to sell me the complete kit for $250. Just the sensor. $40. Beauty
Thank you so much for your video and easy step by step. You saved me time, money and a ton of frustration especially as a female! I had it apart and fixed in 30 minutes! ❤
THANK YOU! This is exactly what was wrong with my LG. A $10 fix is far better than a new washer. The washer symptoms were: Would want to rotate but could not. Sounded a bit grindy and would be locked in back, (not rotating) it would smell metallically, seemed to me like the "transmission" was going out. I just thought I would try this first for $10 and then see if we needed to do more. This was the fix! I am only semi mechanical and this was pretty easy. I did mark things to be sure and also took a pic of the wiring to be sure. The only thing that was a bit uncertain is when I was putting on the new sensor it had two clip spots when the original only had one. Just pay attention to that and all was good. Thanks again, saved me $100's and it only took about 20 mins.
Great presentation because you mention the possible fault that will occur and not just replacing the sensor if LE message will appear. You also mentioned the purpose of the sensor on the program. There are a lot of presentation but I found it is only for non technicians. Your presentation is not boring for a technical person. Great work.
Liked and subscribed! I only had to replace my hall sensor and it’s working now. I recommend anyone with this issue try replacing the $12 hall sensor before doing anything else unless there is clear evidence anything else is damaged. Thank you!
You've helped a lot of us DIY's with your video and I thank you kindly for that. after watching the video I ordered the part from Amazon and replaced it and it worked just fine, however I did have a little hitch with the part that I ordered, the 5 little holes that it's supposed to snap with were partially plugged from when it got molded, but Instead of returning it I just went ahead and scraped them clean until I got it to snap. Again, this was very clear and detailed video.
Thanks for the video ya just saved me a repair bill, I always look up the issues on RUclips and you guys are amazing for doing these videos they really work Thanks Again
Thanks. Going to give this a try. Getting the part from a local appliance parts store. Sure enough this fixed my problem too. A bit difficult getting the 17mm bolt off. I tried hitting it hard even with a hammer but the rotor kept turning. What I did was poke two pieces of 1/4" round wooden dole in two places and that held it place much better than just a screw driver. Thanks for post.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have the exact same washer and it was having the same problem. Also thank you for linking the sensor. I replaced the part myself and my washer is working. You explained it so well that even me as a woman was able to do it 🎉. And i fallowed your process as well
Great video.changed this part and washer still won't spin at full speed.took all apart to make sure all was connected properly and found the agitator coupling was jammed up preventing it from coming down to agitate. Ordered parts hopefully that's the problem
This worked for me for a couple of weeks (three washes) but went back to same problem after a heavy bedding load (wife). I believe this was the cause of a heavy load the first time I had this mall function I now am thinking the position sensor is masking another problem that heavy loads bring on that never used to happen perhaps some other component is at the root cause
Wanted to say, the company says there is a way to reset the washers LE. Unplug it or turn the power off, press and hold the play pause button for five seconds to reset it. Plug it back in and maybe it runs. Sometimes the sensor needs to be reset if you’ve ran an extra big load or had a bulky item in their thrashing around Ken tripped the sensor.
Thanks for this video! I just moved and my washer was stored for a year in a garage in which it got quite cold during winter. I installed it and now i have the LE error. It kinda spins for 2 minutes on almost every cycle then it stops and gives me the error. I just ordered a sensor from Amazon and will be changing it next week. Hopefully it'll fix the issue. You explain the problem well and changing this is way less scary than taking everything apart as I saw in another video for the LE error. I will update this comment once I have the result.
Hi, there, this has been very helpful, I was able to follow your instruction and replaced both the sensor and wiring. The washer still is not working, and shows LE error code? What else should I be looking at? Thank you.
Im still getting the error after changing the sensor and im still getting the LE alarm and occasionally the PF alarm. Should i just get a new washing machine?
If it was making a loud noise on the spin cycle is the bearings it’s not worth it to repair it if it was not making a loud noise on the spin cycle ecobee the stator motor
Why didn't you use a 17 mm socket wrench? Once you popped off the tutorial sensor you put what looked like the same one back on. The view looked like you had the washer on its side? What happened to the bearing seal? Someone must have put too much heavy clothes at the top filling it over capacity. My bearings must have given out which would explain why it sounded like a freight train. Thanks for the video, good info.
I use a 17 mm socket because that’s what I have and that’s what I need I did put a new sensor is just the video is edited The washer was never on the side it’s just the footage of the camera if your bearings in tub seal are bad my recommendation it’s replace the washer because the repair it’s very complicated and very expensive thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
Thank you we replaced everything so throwing in the towel for another washer. But we have $391 in brand new parts I have to resell because there non returnable 🥺
Forget struggling with the adjustable wrench at the last lock but bro! Either ratchet that up by hand rachet socket ( bit) on the tip of my Milwaukee drill an ready to go

That was supposed to say it reads OE and when I put it in the test mode it'll spin but then when I try to wash it doesn't spin out does that make sense
Hey brother, thanks for your help. I just ordered my rotor Position sensor. Mine does move but it starts out spinning fast then stops real quick and goes the other way. Does this couple times and then nothing. And then a LE code. So this sound like what your talking about. I’ll let ya know what happens.much love To ya bro
Hi There!! I change the bearing today and now my LG washer don't work. (before that work but with noise) Every time i see the error code "LE" I check some electrical wires i double check if i forget something but nothing happen. The motor don't rotating, (Just move 1 click) I can't check the sensor why don't know how!! Any solution pls???
what about if it's making like a cracking noise.. the gears are all solid and I didn't see any debris between the magnets and the stator.. all the magnets and everything seems to be intact
Could I ask when ordering a lg washing machine position sensor there are some companies selling type A and type B , how can I tell which one I need, please could you reply, thanks
Just a little fyi… That’s part is not called the “motor” it’s called a “stator”. The sensor is called a hall sensor. Calling things by the wrong name can cause people to get wrong parts. Solid video besides that!
