The king Fisher is one of the birds I struggle to photograph, what you can also do to add to your concealment is buy some camo to just make it a little harder to spot you.
I'm on an island, and while this KF ran and ran, my visiting the mangrove beach same time, same clothes, every day. Now he doesn't rattle, he has let me see his favorite perches. I announce by standing quietly near, then go about my business in the area. He usually immediately comes near on driftwood trees. Not only is he letting me come within 40 yards of him, but he will often come within 25 yards of me. This morning he flew by a couple of small circles showing me his catch. On this journey he comes to find me when walking further down the beach mangrove trail. He thinks he is stalking me, hahaha.
I use the Neewer pro camera bag from Amazon. It’s noting special but it’s affordable compared to other options and It’s held up for a little over 3 years now. Thanks for watching!
Do you use any external mics when recording videos? I'm wondering if an external mic such as a Rode would be worth the investment for capturing nature and wildlife sounds.
Unfortunately I don’t use any external mics. I think it would be an awesome investment though. In the meantime, I get all my nature audio from epidemicsound mixed with what the camera does pickup on its own.
I think camouflage would help you get closer to those skittish kingfishers! You won’t need anything too expensive. I went to a local hunting store and bought a simple camouflage net.
Kingfisher is my nemesis as well,

Absolutely, I appreciate the suggestion! I can’t wait for summer, to photograph them again.
