The Cord team has done a n incredible job, your research and details are awesome. According to Lepcha theory Siliguri word derived from the word "Sali Gahri" (Sali=arrows, Gahri= Fort, means Fort of Arrows). Lepchas were the son of soil from Chhumbi Valley to east part of Nepal.
Siliguri is the best place where Different culture living and thriving and progress. I have seen how Bengali community participate in chhat puja, during guru nank celebration or Durga puja Different communites come and celebrate each festival . awesome 👍
Long live brotherhood.
Wonderful and factful information. Loved that.
I was born in Siliguri. A city with all the requisites of a Cosmopolitan. Most peaceful city far away from dirty and cheap politics of West Bengal.People of different ethnicity staying together for decades. Developed by the residents and neglected by the governments. Need proper and planned development .
Love you Siliguri

According to Sailen Debnath, "Siliguri" means a stack of pebbles or stones. Until the 19th century this region was called as "Shilchaguri" when there was dense Dolka forest covering the region. Siliguri was a small agricultural village in the Kingdom of Sikkim. It was captured by the Kingdom of Nepal in 1788, after which Kirati and Nepali Lepchas came to settle in this region
Partially true
But now due to demographic changes it has become a deep concern for national security in the entire region....but people who try to change history must know "history never changes"....

Such a well-researched content on Siliguri. Your narration style is so engaging that one remains hooked to it from start to end. And your lovely voice! Good job! ❤
Siliguri, my city n its surroundings represent a marvellous.. bewitching..captivating collage of best of the hills n best of the forests!
Plz do cover the picturesque Dooars in your subsequent episodes
Thanks to make a video about my birth city. Siliguri ❤ .
It used to be a deep forest. There are some forests left but its in destruction process due to new buildings . Siliguri needs a serious urban planning, waste management and sewage management system. Rivers in Siliguri now turns into drains. Govt can developed aims hospital, national level universities and schools here but ... Cpim and TMC both kept the north Bengal undeveloped. Siliguri could become a important beautiful connecting city. But 😢 . There is the need of security in Siliguri. Security especially from muslim Bangladeshis and from China.
Yes you are absolutely correct as I am living there more than 19 years and I can feel it
As a resident I agree with you
The greenery is gone, beyond redemption now. All is lost.

As a Rajbanshi, We should have our own state, we should preserve our culture and language. North Bengal belong to us and Mountains(Kalimpong & Darjeeling) belong to Gorkhas.
Rajbanshi ✊🏼 Nepalese ✊🏼
having a different state and maintaining it is not a child's play. It will give birth to disastrous economic and social issues.
West bengal has already been partitioned from East Bengal. It will not happen again.
What u would control 2-3 districts !!! Don't make me laugh... It's even more dangerous
@@BengalWarrior Have you ever heard about the Coochbehar merger agreement? and Which West Bengal you are talking about? Present-day North Bengal was never a part of your West Bengal, it is the place of Koch-Rajbonshi, Gorkha Lepcha and other local tribes. #we want separate state or union territory.

Siliguri is growing very fast .
But here we need manufacturing industries .
Didi hatao industries banao

Right dada
Manufacturing and heavy industry can't set up operations because of environmental concerns. Think about it, 5 out of 6 national parks of West Bengal are in northern region.
It's better suited for tourism, logistics, msme, service sector and agro based industries
Why manufacturing? Service industry is better. IT parks.
Siliguri should be second capital of west bengal

I dont know why peoples are fighting here that im rajbonsi im nepali im bengali this was my mother land first . First of all we are all hindus lets unite and make our bharat hindu rastra once again . Original outsiders are british and mughal and converted bangladeshis they come and slowly occupying our bharat lets unite and be a son and daughter of bharat mata. And become a brave Hindus and lets fight against this. Bullas and yesus jai bhawani jai shivaji 🚩🚩🚩
Great effort👍I have a suggestion. You could add the 'partition' angle, that gave Siliguri a geographical advantage and it became a strategic point ~ the junction of North East India, Northern India and the rest of West Bengal.
If 'partition' were not there, it would not be the gateway of Nort East. I think the 'partition' had a major role in the development of Siliguri in post independence era.
By the way, I'm from Jalpaiguri. Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar have rich historical backgrounds too (I think you know). You can make videos on these two places.
So well researched. Great video.
Presentation is outstanding, through this video I know very interesting thing about my Siliguri city.
Sorry Siliguri connect with Tibet not China. When India was under British Raj for more then 200 years no one call India a England but why Indian and Indian government call Tibet a China?? Are they so afraid of china or ?? Yesterday I watched your video about Sikkim, my birth place. I found your channel so informative, so I subscribed to your channel. But today you’re miseducating your viewers. Do you know What ITBP stand for?

I agree. Visited nathula pass and corrected my friends that it’s not china border but tibet border controlled by Chinese army
Please be informed that Tibet is a part of China.

I am from jalpaiguri near by siliguri, siliguri is the most beautiful and fastest growing city in India.
Wow, what about Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore? In what respect Siliguri is growing better than these cities?
Please check the crime rate of pune. Pune has poor public transport, so everyone needs to buy a bike or scooter. Roads are in pathetic condition. Frequent power cuts, my friend had a workshop in a place called pirangut, there was no power supply on Thursdays. Also many neighborhoods don't have proper water supply.
@@chinmaynaik6642 see, if you have higher education like masters in technology, business administration or something like fintech, it's almost certain that Siliguri can't provide you a rewarding career. Do you agree or not?
@@moinakbhattacharya878 I know few highly educated people living in siliguri but yes they have their own business. Job opportunities are less as compared to pune or Hyderabad. Each city has its own plus and minus points. I would never live in pune or Hyderabad due to high crime rate and inadequate water & power supply.
@@chinmaynaik6642 Truth be told, people who are highly educated will only stay back in Siliguri if they have old parents to look after. Education, healthcare, law and order, economic growth, industries, job opportunities - if any of these are priority to a family it is better to leave West Bengal in the first chance one gets. For my own knowledge - I would like to know from you what kind of business the highly educated people in Siliguri are really doing - don't take it otherwise, I really want to know.
