The gorkhaland is a long standing demands when the Hillmen's association submitted a memorandum to Minto-Morley reforms in 1907 for a seperate administrative set up for Indian gorkhas. The gorkhaland movement preceded the establishment of WestBengal founded only on 26/01/1950. At present Gorkhaland is an aspirations of millions Indian Gorkhas. If the country can have a seperate Gorkha regiments for defence of the nation why not a homeland for the same gorkhas (protector) named Gorkhaland. Time to Ponder. Gorkha leaders need to wake up and think beyond their selfish political careers. It's time we unite and selflessly fight democratically for our dreams called GORKHALAND.

You see how hypocrite our political leaders are. They are blinded by the greed of money and they are ready to sell anything that comes between them and money be it our land, identity and even self-respect. U go to Andaman nd nicobar islands der are still tribes in centinal islands who are cannibal nd not civilized till date. In North East tribes lk naga, mizo, kuki, bodo,khasi, garo, apatani, reang, nd other arunachal tribes later got civilized after colonial Empire attacked over der.its not ur fault it's bcz of what's app University, u need to read books written by genuine author. I've worked in a research project related to Darjeeling Politics....from my findings what I found was Bimal Gurung in 2006 never came up on his own ability for the demand of Gorkhaland, it was the then left Govt. of Bengal who was terrified and fed up with Ghising, supported Gurung to bring down Ghising out from the region and succeeded too.
That is why Gurung has to settle for GTA

I feel in a current situation we can take forward our aspiration and demand with only a leader like Bandana Rai....It is extremely sad that Darjeeling has been crushed between our own Political leaders, State Govt. and Central Govt. currently

You could visit Pakistan, Bangladesh, India everywhere in British time too, there is nothing on being able to visit. West Bengal culture, language, politics, and identity can not represent the voice, culture, language, or identity of Gurkha. It's modern gulami.

The ABAVP decided to agree to incorporate 196 mouzas of the Dooars and 199 mouzas of the Terai region into the proposed GATA.

Yeah you're right. Most of them aren't ready to acknowledge their ancestors' migration from Nepal. The most fitting name for the region is KhasBhasaland because that language is the only thing that has become their common identity

Border change is a constant phenomenon throughout human history . And throughout history border change never served the common people but the politicians. They use the emotion of people and drive this to grab more power.
What matters in the end is people understand this and rather channel the emotions to demand better health, education and public infrastructure.
I understand the Bengali culture and Gorkha or a Tibetan culture being very different. But thankfully Bengalis have always showered love and respect to the people of their hills and their own respective culture. Vice versa is also true the people of the hills also did the same.
I am from Kolkata myself but I have been working in Sikkim Darjeeling Siliguri region for a long time now. My best friends are from Kalimpong and Darjeeling... We play sports, do music and party on weekends ... I want to keep it that way :)

I live in Malbazar, Jalpaiguri (Dooars) and to my Gorkha Brothers Please Bhai koi bhi don't encourage anymore partitions. We all are from same country and we should cherish the diversity and yet live in Harmony.
Gorkhaland India sey bahar nahi hoga. India mein hoga. And if you want so much unity in diversity where are the Rajbonshis now and where is the Rajbonsh language. You stay in Malbazaar know so why is it compulsary to have Bengali in GDS bharti in class 10 in all of Bengal except Darjeeling and Kalimpong district. Why is it compulsary to pass Bengali paper for further emoloyment as WBCS excluding People with Nepali as their Mother Tongue. You know why Gorkhaland is important for Nepali Speaking people cause most of them donot want to assimilated as Bengalis like what has happened to the Rajbonshis. The Nepali speaking people have some hold in Bengal only cause of their demand

Its not possible if Indians staying in South nepal terrai region mostly biharis speaking region nepal government should make bhojpur land with special right.. How you can identify indian nepalis & nepali migrants.. Sikkim is a state with nepali identity

The dream of Gorkhaland willl never become a reality. It will not be allowed by the State Govt and also by the Central Govt. Gorkhaland is the bread earner of West Bengal and so it is important for West Bengal to retain it by any way possible. Also trust issues also arises as Gorkhas might be bought by Nepal and China eventually which is not the truth. Gorkhas despite loyally serving India are discriminated to such an extent that they are not allowed to have their own identity and create a path of development in every factors which other communities enjoy in their own state. There is also not a single leader who can stand strong and determined for the cause and aspirations of Gorkhas. Gorkhas are always easily manipulated and there is no unity among themselves. There is a huge divide on the basis of caste and they are so proud of themselves which is only feasible on books and storytelling. Hopefully this time the Modi Govt finally take a decision to grant Gorkhaland as this decision might change the future of India and also of the Gorkhas. Development is the topmost priority which has to be put at front of all the reasons for Gorkhaland. The large scale influx of Bangladeshis in West Bengal which is allowed by TMC Govt can also be a basis for the creation of a new state and for that a strong voice has to be raised with enough reasons for the Central Govt to hear it and consider it. This influx will destroy Gorkhas as a whole and jeopardize the national security in the region and so a strong wall has to be created by the Gorkhas as they are strong and loyal. Gorkhas can create a great security for the nation and the Govt can blindly rely on them on this matter as compared to West Bengal govt which has been playing around and have already destroyed the region by inviting illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas. It is not far that West Bengal will convert into an Islamic state and become a threat to the region and the only thing that can keep it in control and prevent being completely getting out of hand is by empowering Gorkhas and providing them with all the necessary things to stay strong and defend India in the Chicken Neck region with 4 countries eyeing to take advantage and ruin it. As a citizen of North Bengal. I think only solution is to increase the participants of the people of all over Bengal. I think there should be three capital in Bengal. One is in Darjeeling, 2nd one is in murshidabad side in the middle and 3rd one is Kolkata.
Our Bengal's policy, dicision everything just only focused on Kolkata and its surrounding. We need to diversify. And a separate State as gorkhaland is completely impossible bcz of it's location near Siliguri corridor, China , Bangladesh.

The only reason why the central government does not honor the demand of the Gorkhas is that Nepali speaking people of India are divided into different states. IF AT LEAST SIKKIM DARJEELING ARE REUNIFIED THEN THIS STATE COULD BE REGARDED AS THE STATE OF THE INDIAN GORKHAS WHICH WILL GIVE THEM THE IDENTITY AND OWN GORKHA STATE.

I don't think Gorkhaland should be given because that area is very crucial from India's security perspective. On top of that India have so many ethnicities, if every ethnicity starts demanding their own state, India will move towards collapse. I think there is already Sikkim for Nepali speaking community. I'm feel shameful to be a part of West Bengal
The best solution is not a community based separate state but a separate state based on administration. When we involve other communities also residing in the region it develops more intrigue. As most know, Kolkata being 100’s of kms away administration is a major issue because this North Bengal region is mostly overlooked. And of course, Nepali people will be in majority so reforms to government policies that help the community as a whole in general will be beneficial. Maybe name of the state Darjeeling makes more sense than Gorkhaland which has a violent intonation in the name itself. And I say all this as a Nepali person residing in North Bengal.
It's my suggestion that North Bengal can be curved out and can be new state with it's capital in Siliguri...

DO NOT IGNORE THE HISTORY OF THE LAND. OK just consider the easiest solution is the Reunification of Darjeeling region with Sikkim because this region belonged to Sikkim and was leased by the British so since 1975, Sikkim became 22nd State of India therefore naturally the easiest solution is the Reunification of the trouble zone Darjeeling with Sikkim and perhaps change the name to Indian Gorkhaland. That will give full fledged identification all Indian Gorkhas and a State named Indian Gorkhaland which will be appreciated by all the Indian Gorkhas. West Bengal cannot keep an encroached land by its absorbed act which legally is part of Sikkim. It is NOT merger BUT REUNIFICATION. If Sikkim willingly ignores Reunification proposal, out of vested interest of a few ruling politicians then what if Darjeeling attacks Sikkim and takes it overnight ? Eventually Sikkim politicians without being selfish will eventually face an attack by Darjeeling Gorkhas anyway as ultimatum. Rather it will be wise if they agree to REUNIFICATION. And enjoy the benefits.
Do you seriously think the people of Sikkim will agree to this, there are lots of non coi holders currently living in Sikkim that are in desperate need of it. Darjeeling is filled with many people that have immigrated from Nepal and various Indian regions. If the reunification so happens there will be huge scale unemployment and decrease in the income of the common people and fierce competition among the already established current state of Sikkim. Reunification is but a distant dream even the people of Sikkim will not agree to such foolish proposal.
And why will they change the name. Sikkim has its own unique history and instigation of violence between the two region is not a good idea brother. And Nepal already exists for nepalis bro, India doesn't need these kind of dirty instigation coming from Nepal bro.
If the top politicians of India were honest then after merging Sikkim in the Union of India then honest politicians would go for Reunification of Darjeeling with Sikkim and perhaps call it the Indian Gorkhaland. The original Gorkhas are the Nepalese . The only reason why current leaders of Sikkim don't want to agree to the REUNIFICATION is 1. They are selfish 2. Afraid because of incompetency. But their NARROW MINDEDNESS DO NOT REALISE that by Reunification, Sikkim can profit Immensely from already flourishing economic hub and becoming the controller of chicken neck and direct border link with Nepal and Bangladesh in the south east with Bhutan in the east and China in the north which are great advantages to Sikkim .
If Sikkimese leaders out of vested interest declares in writing that the leased land to the British in 1835, is of no concern to Sikkim today then the land has to go back to Nepal. Bengal cannot produce any legal documents to prove the land belongs to Bengal except the ABSORBED ACT. which is OFFICIALLY ENCROACHING A LAND THAT IS NOT THEIRS.
Hello , I am from Gorkha District from Nepal and Indian people want Gorkha Land in lndia , like WTF .
How can you take the name Gorkha for your self which you don't deserve.WTF people are talking about and you call yourself India but want identity of Gorkha at sametime . You can just speak Nepalese but you are not Gorkha, you can be either Nepali or Indian. Don't dare to stole the identity of other people.

History lai herna ho bhana , India ko kehi portion Nepal ko theyo and you guys decided to stay with India rather than Nepal. Nepal ko current situation lai herna bhaya that was a really good decision for you guys.

There is no india gorkha nowadays everybody calls them gorkhas, gorkhali are those peoples who come from nepal and also gorkha is place in nepal
