Sunset could look really good with some dark, very desaturated purple... but MAGENTA? that doesn't go with basically anything!
There was so much magenta everywhere for a while... Character designs like in Equestria Girls, but also games (looking at you, Sims 4. and not favorably)

i think the og starlight equestria design was based off that one scene where starlight was emo crying in her room in friendship is magic. in my eyes she's like a closet emo lol
i honestly didn't even know that scene existed, that makes the EG design make a lot more sense!

I think of Starlight as that one overzealous girl who spends a lot of time with people older like her, so she has very "mature" (conservative) outlook on life, even _if_ she doesn't ever change the chanel when MTV starts playing that Nu Metal trash that Sunburst likes so much. In fact, I think she would go out of her way to make a comment about the videos to imply that she only watches every single band because she's "apalled" by their behaviour. She only has one friend, who's very academical and thus is the only acceptable company she can have without her parents interfering, and then he leaves to follow his dreams. She doesn't take it well and doubles down on her self-denial. In fact, _EVERYBODY_ should deny their own interests. She's gonna start a youth association so nobody gets to treat people in a way that reminds her of her own distress.
Then the Mane 6 would come and teach her the many pleasures of angsty, angry, thirsty teenage music, and BAM, now she's willing to add a subtle, tasteful pin-set to her backpack.
So, umm, I see her as Amanda Vines' character on Easy A, if she actually remaind friends with Olive.
I love Trixie being the shortest of the three, really suits her

I'm really happy about retro inspired Starlight, she was literally introduced with a Beehive. I think that's what her mane looks like, anyway. I really like the idea of her stepping just a few decades forward when she get's her good person redesign.

LOOOOOOVE the Trixie design, I always imagined (bc she is) having very geeky, flashy clothing bc she’s so into the magician stuff and she wants to be in the spotlight, being great and powerful!! I never really understood people saying she would wear something wimsigoth because the colors are so desaturated and they give off a laidback vibe which Trixie truly isn’t at all and I love her for that (no hate to the style, absolutely love it but it’s just not really Trixie). But either way, just love how you designed her as someone who’s always loved Trixie ever since she first appeared on mlp 🫶
Imma be honest... Starlight Glimmer's outfit reminds me of Gideon from Gravity Falls when he tricked the town into thinking he's psychic. But it suits Starlight so well so I'm not complaining!! The magician look for Trixie is also amazing!! And Sunset to me, absolutely looks great in blue! You did wonderful!! :3

Starlight's human design could be a reference to how she apparently had a goth/emo phase as a teenager, as evidenced by her old room in her hometown. Since in EG she's technically a teenager again it kind of sort of makes sense for her fashion to be a timeshifted.
I love your designs! They're so fun.
Also, I actually thought the green eyes and purple hints were there because, in that order, they're complimentary colours of red and yellow. I can't be sure if that was the designers intentions though. 😂

I really like your redesign of Trixie! The short hair really works because it makes her new vibe remind me of Mary Poppins, which overall accentuates her personality (I hope that makes sense). However I would've kept it rather long, just because long hair usually signifies elegance, which I think is another part of Trixie (elegant, mysterious and magical). But watching you lean into her more upbeat and nerdy side is super cute, and the hair really topped it off!

Starlights shoes legit look like a pair of short gumboots that i own! The shade is almost the exact same!! (The gumboots are more like horse riding boots in style - just woth out the elastic window on the sides)

I think part of the designs being weird is that MLP designs use a lot of bright and saturated colours, which works well for the ponies since they have a much smaller palette. However, that doesn’t work so well since human designs need clothes, making the colours look like a hot mess. Honestly this might’ve been fixed if they just made the characters have normal skin tones and represent their pony colours in the clothes, but at the same time I can see hasbro not wanting to even imply that their characters are specific ethnicities for greater market appeal.
I did notice they slightly adjusted the colours in later movies, I might be imagining things but I think they desaturated sunset’s hair and a few other colours like their Candy colour skin tones, but it wasn’t quite enough to fix the issue completely.
trixie is adorable and I was so happy cuz u included her, BUT there is an outfit in equestria girls that I actually loved sooo much! her rainbow rocks outfit! it’s adorable actually and her hair was styled so GREATFULLY and POWERFULLY. 🎀🫶
OMG I LOVE YOUR SUNSET SHIMMER! She’s definitely one of my favourite characters in EQ, which makes me sad that they never got a real ending.
I really love the designs you’ve done for them, it really does match their styles and personalities a lot… and with your take about sunset’s colours in the equestria girls movies? think I might have an idea.
I think the reason her colours were soo overly exaggerated is because as the main antagonist of the first movie, she wanted to be the best. But not like… the best person but the queen bee.
The colours don’t match, they’re continuously flashy and they’re so eye bleeding it makes you want to stare at her even more even when avoiding her, which was what she wanted.
In the second movie it’s still just as eye bleeding but she’s trying to get along and actually want to help every chance she gets but it takes time, which is why she’s still a little too bright.
But in later movies and the tv series some of her colours are toned down to a more pleasant colour to look at but is still pretty bright in some areas… I don’t have an explanation..
at least… that’s what I think I-I could be wrong.

You should do a video designing prom looks for all the re-designs you made, that’d give you an excuse to draw Trixie in a stunning whimsigoth outfit.
Personally I don't mind Trixie's canon outfit, the cut of her dress (and you can tell it's a dress because the top is the same colour as the skirt) kinda reminds me of an old-school marching band baton twirler, so it suits her since its kinda geeky and flamboyant. Though maybe I'm just saying that because her actual magician costume in Equestria Girls looks like a marching band uniform (I know it's actually based on a circus ringleader, but both those uniforms share multiple elements), and that's tricked my brain into thinking her regular outfit is a casual version of that outfit since both looks consist of a dress that's cut exactly the same and a jacket with stars and yellow trimming.
I like your redesign of course, but I think it would look off in a school setting.

THE UNVALE PONY CHARACTER IS SO FUNNY TO ME HELP
When I was a young wittle girl I would always watch mlp, whether it would be Equestria Girls, Friendship is Magic, or even some of the older versions. And sometimes, my dad would listen. We made some sort of thing when whenever Trixie would come on screen, we would say her line: “It is I, the great and powerful, Triiiiiixie!” And when it was Trixie’s turn to be redesigned, I got so giddy and excited for no reason. Maybe it was the nostalgia. Or maybe it was my love for the character.

I absolutely LOVEE sunsets design!!! I think the only thing I'd change/ add for her is I'd put her cutie mark on the back of her jacket or something like that. Maybe have it as a little accent on it or something yk?? But I still absolutely loveee how you did it 😁

I just love how Sunset Shimmer alwas has that bisexual energy, it's pretty much blended into her character with the cool vibes or something, probably also the curly hair and leather jacket.
Anyway I love your redesigns I think they are really good! I don't know much about Starlight so I could'nt really tell how well this design fits her but I like it
Um so for 8:06 I would have just, for the full body, kept the power stance she had before OR if her legs HAVE to be together make the boots be facing inwards cos the kinda look like her ankles broke 😭

Didn't realize the video is out, and I'm honestly surprised (and confused) that many said whimsicolt aesthetic for Trixie. Throughout my whole watch on MLP, I always see her as a magician, and the tricks she always used in both shows are magician tricks.

Then maybe we would've had more stories like other heroes, old and new villains and two big things I wanna see, more respect for Flash Sentry, he's hated for being a love interest when fans literally asked for one. Not to mention that Spike and Rarity never officially became a couple, and a Dazzling redemption, mostly cause I'm curious about their lives in Equestria and in Canterlot city

I LOVE STARLIGHTS REDESING! She looks so pretty omg😭 and the idea of the sort of 80's style surprised me but I LOVE it, the most original and simple redesing I've ever seen and I feel like it fits perfectly❤
I love all these designs!! For Trixie I did really love the first design for the Gothic whims idea for her! I think she could still wear it but mostly just as casual outfit like when going out with friends and/or (at least if you ship her and Starlight) going out with Starlight and would wear the suit at school especially if she would be doing a show after it or during it, like at a talent show or maybe prep rally

Everyone seems to always re-design the girls and ik that's because they are the main characters,but if you do continue the series I would love to see those 3 get a bit of acknowledgment since all 3 do play a part. Loved the art though so I hope to see more of your vids in my recommended.

I think the purple was added to Sunset Shimmer because, TECHNICALLY, she'd be wearing all colours of sunset. Red, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Teal.. Heck, you could even include the black studded jacket as "the night sky". The idea is good. The oversaturated colours aren't.

I think these are super cute and you nailed Sunset's hair. The one thing i think i miss with these would be the sorta cutesy early to mid 2000s sorta fashion style that the outfits in show have. I remember being just a few year younger than the characters (them being about 16-18 if my age around HS is anything to go by) and that I found their style super cute. It kinda picked up as a trend around people my age as well and was oddly reminiscent of scene (that sorta punk + pastel hot pink style around 2008ish) which i hadnt quite liked dressing in but found cute. Suddenly the sorta legging skirt boot denim dress style was popular lmao. I'd never felt so comfortable with a style and I still dress in boots, leggings, high socks, plus skirts and dresses till now as a working professional lmao. I definitely look out of place (especially since my line of work is that of finishing interiors and construction and im an overseer) but im at least happy with my look hehe. I bet these three would too in the outfits you picked, regardless of if it fit with the style of the rest of the outfits.
