Absolutely devastating damage here, Sanibel and Fort Myers. There are many hard-working folks who have lived in these areas for generations who work behind the scenes of these retirement/vacation areas whose homes and livelihoods are destroyed at the moment.
My heart is break for y’all. I’m from Lake Charles, Louisiana and we had Laura and Delta hit in 2020. I promise it will get better. It will take time, but it will.

There were tornadoes involved too. They can do damage like that. Another possibility is the one home standing might be newer or different kind of construction.
Wow, it absolutely astounds me how this footage catches what seems to be a nice day today (weather wise) in San Carlos Island, Florida and just hours earlier, a monster storm came crashing through and caused such utter destruction. Erin I can see a lot of those boats were commercial and the others were sport. It's not an easy task to tie up a heavy boat that's too big for a trailer. When a 12 foot high wall of sea water comes ashore, it will move them like toys across the land.

After 2004's Hurricane Ivan, which featured similar damage to this, property values for habitable houses in the Florida panhandle doubled, as 20-30 percent of structures were destroyed. Suddenly any standing house was a gold mine, and speculators swooped in. Expect the same here.
Especially with how conditions have been in the housing market over the last 2 years. You're not wrong. But with the coming housing crash there's going to be a firesale on beach front property down there. Cheaper than 08. Watch
I talked to people who, days after their property was destroyed on Pensacola Beach, were getting queries from developers who were offering top dollar for lots. Nobody ever learns. You can't overbuild extensively on barrier islands and expect anything other than what happened here. And yet the overbuilding will commence as soon as the debris is cleared. The insurance companies get hammered and pass that cost on to the consumer. Basically we're subsidizing the reckless, wealthy land owners who covet beachfront property.

This is why you don’t build on an island or along the coast without knowing the risk you are taking. This looks just like Hurricane Andrew 30 years ago. The boats all washed inland destroying houses that survived or lost their roofs. It took many years for parts of Florida to rebuild after Andrew and some never did. Many people moved north and inland. People will forget.
This is just the worst. My Godfather's boat is at Salty Sams. We spent our summer evenings in Parrot Key or Bonita Bills after a day's fishing. Absolutely gutted for them all. What a tragedy.

@@christymarie1413 only in one eye, but the other is fairly decent. But I'm pretty sure you may be, are you here? Obviously not. Your just seeing what you see on yt. Come on by in person. You can stay here in fact. Ask next time before assuming. It's called optimism, nothing I can do besides look forward and on the brighter side. Unlike your miserable self. Cheer's!
My gosh. Where do you even begin with the cleanup process. My heart is broken for all of these people.
Prayers for those effected! Keep safe and strong , may God bless you all !💗😇🙏
god let this happen so what makes you think that prayers will do anything? SMFH
This is just utter devastation and my heart breaks for all these individuals. Most of these mobile homes are for snowbirds who live in other places although they're probably are permanent residents who live there I hope they are all safe. The references made by the announcer that these were poor people was not unnecessary.
I did not hear anything. The video was silent.
There is so much work to be done its hard to know where to even begin.. I guess clear the roads then driveways then work your way through it all.
Wow it's total destruction, prayers for everyone 🙏
One of the thrills of living in Florida, sometimes you come home and it's not there.
There's going to be a lot of people working on repairs of EVERYTHING !!! Have a skill... want good money... damn I wish I didn't get old n fat... on the other I'll knock on wood 👍👍 But damn I'd love to be there working !!!
What a pile of fishing boats , very powerful event
There is poetic beauty in the art piece. Praying it’s only materials destroyed here.
