As the area was being impacted by Hurricane Ian, many boats were thrown about, both causing and sustaining significant damage. Multiple boats did sink and some were completely submerged. Fire Department crews were on scene to assess and work out a plan for the leaking gasoline and oil from the boats/damaged dock pumps. At least 8 cars were moved from the parking lot by storm surge, and ended up blocking access.
This catastrophic weather event just made me and my wife change our mind about moving to Florida, we had all intentions of moving there in the spring.
I don't blame you at all for not going. You couldn't pay me to live there!!
Just don’t live on the coast on the gulf side and your fine. All this damage is storm surge.
This is the exception.. I've lived in SW Florida almost my entire life. We only get a whammy storm about every 5to10 years.. the last storm that came through like this was 05.. even Irma, which was 6 yrs ago didn't wipe us out. We rebuild quickly and back to normal. Most hurricanes don't hit Florida, they skirt the state and hit the Carolinas or Louisiana and Texas. I hope this helps. Don't give up on a Florida dream.
Depends on where your coming from. FM is my second home town. Originally from Minneapolis. The place was awesome until around the late 90's. Spent a year as a resident while my mom was suffering from dementia. The entire state has turned into a human zoo. Masses of East coasters are migrating to both the East and West coasts of Florida. Also it's no longer the property tax haven it used to be. Save yourself the headache and find nirvana elsewhere. I did. It's a great place to visit. With this event I'm tempted to pack up and volunteer down there. My thoughts are with the people effected. Love FMB!
Big fat nope flordia s surrounded by waterrrr glad I don’t live near mountains or river lakes bay or the ocean..
Excellent recording!!!!! I like how you hold the camera so we have time to see all that's going on instead of flailing it around requiring pause.
God Bless and Keep All of the wonderful people of Ft Myers, Downtown Marina, and surrounding areas! I went through a hurricane at that very Marina Many years ago,Yet nothing, of this Magnitude!
Northeast folks: I can’t wait to leave this place, Goodbye 2 foot snowstorms !
Hurricane Ian: Hold My Beer
we get hurricanes and nor'easters

@@tanyasteers4802 Nothing like this….in New England.
I have found…so many retirees move to Florida…only to return to the north later. Give me all the snow we get instead of losing my home to something like this.
Thank you for taking the time for making and posting this video. 🙏
Overwhelmed their Boats are destroyed their cars are destroyed their homes are destroyed their jobs are gone their banks are destroyed their grocery stores are destroyed their restaurants are destroyed their hospitals are destroyed their doctors offices are destroyed their roads and bridges are destroyed their entertainments are destroyed their airports are destroyed their schools are destroyed their cell services are destroyed Their Electric services are destroyed their water/sewer services are destroyed BUT MOST OF THEM HAVE THEIR LIVES, there is HOPE. Its a huge order to fill, putting their broken puzzles back together. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A MANS FAITH. The world is with you in prayer, WE LOVE YOU.
Maybe this will send thousands of transplants packing up and heading back to their hometowns to the North!
Well they lost their minds first.
Moving to a hurricane speed bump is not a good investment.
And these people vote😬

It’s just shows that no matter if your rich or poor, all can suffer such devastating situation’s 😮 sad event in Florida 😪🙏❤️🕊
@You Tube greedy individual🤨 lives and people are more important than anyones dollar or dollars 🤨 what a greedy and selfish in-tiled attitude you own 🤢🤮 good luck with that entitlement😏God bless those who have little for those who have little has more soul and appreciation for others than those who have everything but no soul 😏
What doea rich or poor have to do with a storm ? You sound hurt and worthless .
Yeah when you bus immigrants and think its fucking funny stuff like this will happen. Hope that Gov learned his lesson if not there will be another storm to finish that place off.
@@eddstone yeah when Biden plains and busses migrants in the middle of the night and puts them in cities without people knowing there will be consequences as well 😏 this storm didn’t happened because of the Florida governor 😏 this storm happened because nature is a beast and it’s unfortunate that we all are in its way. This storm isn’t a political issue it’s a natural disaster that can and will happen to everyone no matter where you live 😏amazing God we have don’t we🙂🙌🕊
It may take time it may be costly it may even be stressful to lose things you’ve had for so long or worked so hard for but nothing is more valuable than ourselves material things are replaceable but many who survived are not ! Praise God for allowing us still to see another day and may all impacted be comforted with peace love understanding and many ways to bounce back!
@Virtuous Warrior- AMEN! i lost my home in the wildfires in 2008. Changed my life....for good. I am a testimony of G-d's Grace and Mercy! I am praying for those that are affected in disasters.
Amen
@Travis Smith nope.. not what I meant at all.
thanks for this informative video. No more Media Lies!!!!
Great coverage! Thank you.
Man, you guys bring some great footage.
The best feels like I'm there
That yacht basin was always a strange place, back in the 70’s there were very expensive yachts as well as boats that were inoperable not to mention plenty of rays running the walkways.
Other than Miami, it couldn't have landed in a more affluent area. This is going to destroy some insurance companies.
We were always warned by relators to NEVER buy anything within ten miles of the COAST lines!

Do insurance companies cover hurricanes?
No it won't, the insurance companies will simply increase rates to everyone to recoup the pay out they will have.
@@wetspotswimwear1199 exactly 💯 insurance companies never lose only the customers paying their insurance bills pay because the loss is passed on to the customer
@@wetspotswimwear1199 Of course, they always do. However 16 companies have already canceled policies and fled the state as of July 22.
Praying for everyone.
Sending prayers to all. God be with you all. This is HORRIBLE what has happened.
Is that the same God that caused the flooding? Or is your omnipotent God not capable of stopping a simple storm surge? Everything stems from God does it not? Your God put this storm on Florida...why? Why did God choose to kill Floridians with a violent storm...? Or was it the work of the DEVIL? Nasty Devil...
Traffic seems to be moving normally on the bridge in the background.
Stay Blessed!!!!
I hope everyone is safe
The lady at the end.. "without this frog, i am nothing.."
Wow. This comment section have zero clue on this situation here.
I was on the first boat that took out the dock.
Most of these people are not rich and these ain't new boats.
This was their house and they ended up loosing everything.
My crew almost lost are lives when we had to bail.
This is something I never want to relive again.
Just curious could you have gassed up the boat and driven north a week ahead of the storm? Or even trailer the boat north ?
That aside may God bless you all the days of your life.
@@TheAgentAssassin not everyone had that option at hand.
The big boats take semi's to move.
The storm was predicted to hit the north, so everyone moved south to avoid it.
The storm kept following us down and eventually we had no option but to ride it out.
Some people were not at their boats because the storm was supposed to pass and the marina had a crew here to keep them safe.
The situation got from bad to worse and the crew got out of here.
We probably would've faired better if we stayed in Boca grande tbh.
Nothing like owning a boat…
except selling one!
Happiest two days of a boat owners life, they day they bought it and the day they sold it.
Beautiful
Lots of floating debris will make navigation a problem for awhile. A lot of undiscovered underwater wrecks are uncovered by hurricanes.
doubloons!
And expensive boats, mostly ?

@@lyndaphillips5006 Ok, so a few things because you're obviously not from Florida. Those boats are underwater hazards and need to get removed so the marina, which employs loads of people, can get back up and running because regular folk use those marinas as well. Also, a lot of people live on those big boats in the marina and those people have lost everything. My cousin lived on a sail boat down in the keys and lost it during Irma.
Not everyone that lives on a boat is a millionaire, in most cases cheaper than a house and it comes with an adventure.
How many high-rise buildings have had their foundations undercut by storm surge and will be in danger of collapse in the near future?
So much damage. So very sad
Why not for broadcast? This is what should be aired on the news. People need to become aware of what is taking place. Also what is to come.💙💈❤️
Probably because he wants to license it instead
It's so greedy little twats don't steal their content without permission.
If a news agency wants to use it they have to buy the rights not just steal from RUclips
just means he has copyright and they need to buy it and im sure the news will buy some of it
Because they sell to news companies and other media outlets. If youtube didnt pay them money, you wouldnt even see these videos
The height of those pilings now look woefully inadequate. They've got to be 12ft or more above mean tide to be of any use in a storm surge.....my heart goes out to the boat owners. Being a boat nut my first thought when watching the hurricane was for the marinas and how the boats were fairing......now that I've learned people have lost their lives and homes have been destroyed it puts it all in perspective. This event will change Florida forever....a retirement home on the peninsula? Ummm maybe not....Wishing Floridians the very best from the UK. You will recover and rebuild for sure.
This is why I am happy I live in New England…
Have been in those areas many times.
Where will they take all these damaged yachts?
Have to wonder how many of these boats can be refloated and repaired. Guess some may be totally lost.

Does your boat insurance cover this damage?
You have to tell us! Did the woman at the end manage to get that thing off her stern rail without removing a finger?
I know showing the boats and the money is good for views, but show us the poor side of town
That last boat was a "poor people " boat. I'm sure they lived on it.
@@mikewithers299 Wounder how many insurance companies gonna go bankrupt.
@@deckape69 same thing that happened in hurricane Andrew. I was told many went bankrupt after paying out millions. Others had money tied up in investments and couldn't pay out their customers. They probably filed bankruptcy to avoid being sued.
ft Meyers doesn't have one. not near the coast anyway. 😕
@@suzannechance5876 Miami is down to one now. The others have left or on the way out

I just wanna know where is that damaged boat auction gonna be!!!!

Heart Breaking!
"Not man made, not man made, not man made, not man made, ...." :D :D :D :D
It seems that insurance is a good idea for living in Florida.
That’s one way to get rid of a multi million dollar yacht you didn’t want anymore but couldn’t sell it. $$$$$$$$
If you ever wanted a nice boat, but could not afford it...
Nows you chance.
Watch for insurance auctions or go directly to the source to purchase
Any idea of conditions in LAKEFRONT COURT FORT MYERS anyone please? Have friends there, haven’t had any contact since Tuesday and I am not in the USA.
Repair everything and then do it all again next year!
The severity of these weather events is definitely increasing yearly!
Not a good choice to live anywhere near the coastline nowadays!
My brother lives here so sad to c this he is safe thank god
thats going to be expensive ?

After seeing all of the debris on the beach one can only wonder how much was washed out when the water receded and if and where it will wash back up.
What a mess! Everyone knew it was just a matter of time. In mean seriously! That gulf is really fucked! It causes so much havoc on the southern states.
Boats are ruined but yet the palm trees still stand ..
If I had a boat such as these and there was word of a hurricane, I wouldn't dare leave it to b destroyed.
good luck with insurance
A few trips to Don's salvage yard
Boats are the least of the problems. People have lost their homes and that is much more of a problem than losing boats.
To many their boat is their home.
Or the boat is smashed inside someone's home!
Yes!! Thinking of people who don't have the means or options that others have to leave, to rebuild, to collect insurance. :(
@A Whole So only rich people own boats? Got it!
Insurance company will fully cover for it
I hope everyone was vaccinated
If I had a big boat like some of these I would have evacuated in it.... driven it to Alabama for a week long vacation. Such a waste... won't be surprised if insurance companies stop paying on policies where the owner doesn't attempt to save the boat.
Crazy damage.
They had two days of warning. You wouldn’t maybe worry about trying to save your home or family first? Get real.
@@BryanDileskiMusic 2 days? They tracked it over a week or more.
More precautions could’ve been made, in ample time, that would help keep the cost of insurance down for everyone.
@@GodBlessedAmerica They tracked it to go to the panhandle. You obviously did absolutely no research and are going off of “what they usually do”. It changed course drastically. Yeah though, keep worrying about whose paying for the boats. Smh.
@@BryanDileskiMusic Oh. My bad. I though the pan handle was part of Florida. Considering the magnitude of the storm the entire state of Florida was at risk.
SMDH 🤦🏼♂️
Yikes..such a shame but you have to be prepared if living in that area . It is not something new. The insurance rates will go through the ceiling.Hopefully every one will recover their property loss as well as their vessels
I don’t live in Fort Myers I just don’t understand When Florida knew that the West Coast was going to get hit with the hurricane more than a week ago why didn’t they move their boats to safer harbors or take them to the east side of Florida until after the hurricane
Floating docks a disaster
Looks expensive
I don't understand why that guy is walking around on the doctor footed when there's so much debris around.
"Would you look at that, just look at it, i mean look at it." Year, after year, after year.... ..........
If you're a hard-working entrepreneur with a few extra bucks they are some nice boats to be had with a little bit of elbow grease. I'm in!
I would not be walking in that water there's all kinds of sewage in there
Boats are not sentimental items all that can be replaced
HURRICANE IAN - 2022 ?
Hurricane Ian hit like an atom bomb
Consuming the helpless in it's path.
The waters of the deep surged forth
Flooding everything with it's wrath.
The best of the brave was seen by man
While rescue crews were helping others.
They risked their life and laid it on the line
To save our sisters and brothers.
May heaven show mercy upon the lost
Never to love, laugh, sing or cry
God bless every man, woman and child
Who before their time had to die.
Tears are the raindrops of the soul
Shed by all who cry
Though the eyes are wet and swollen
With time and patience they dry.

Does their insurance cover this?
The last boat had skull and crossbones flag...not a good look if you plan to leave it in a hurricane.
Look like there will be some cheap boats on the market soon in Florida

Shes salvaging a frog ???

It changed paths
Let's see how many girls you can take out now with no home no car no boat must be getting expensive
Bible thumpers are havin a field day with this one!
If I built a house in a dried up river bed , what are the chances it will get flooded in the future? Probably pretty good in my estimation.
Should I falsely thump the bible and say this is God's judgement or should I say I was a dumb ass who built a house in a riverbed and God really didn't have any to do with it?
fellow thumper here
The storm, devastation and death is all part of god's plan doncha know, and NO one interferes with god's plan.
Wow, god's a mean bastard huh? Why is he so pissed off all the time? He should learn how to chill.
Why does the video Say “not for broadcast” when that is exactly what is happening ??
It means other tv stations, other RUclipsrs and other media outlets can't just use this footage unless you ask permission and PAY the licensing fees to the individual (s) filming this to be used on other media platforms.
Why didn't Trump use his Mind Powers and reclassified the Hurricane to the Best Summer Day.
