Hey Matt, I'm extremely sorry for having to resort to this, but my Nitro 5 Spin has been nothing but trouble from the date of purchase, I have mentioned you on twitter along with Dave2D and Jarrod's Tech cuz your reviews helped me choose this laptop. Unfortunately the performance that Dave got on his system is very very different from what I get on mine and Acer will not give me a refund. Really not a worry. I have this laptop and I’ve forgotten about the flex. Keep in mind if you were to hold it a certain way then you will get flex but you’ll know that it’s not much of a problem once you get used to carrying this beast around. I recommend buying this laptop. Game wise it is really good. I have the AMD version from bestbuy and just 2 hours of gaming, the heat is very low. I play very heavy physic based racing games, such as BeamNG drive and I get very low temps after gaming. I get about 50 on gpu and 35-40 on cpu. Which is really good. Check out dalportodev, he has made a few reviews and streaming tests with this laptop. I recommend!
@@suryarahardian3141 By the nature of books being flat, they would put even pressure over the whole laptop so you wouldn't get any flex. That's how I see it.
Hey man, so I have a bunch of questions, A watched a review by Dave Lee and he said something about paying an extra $10 for RGB, but doesn't that come with the omen command center? Also, I looked online at my local store and it says it does red keyboard lighting only which is weird. My other question: When the laptop is closed, at the top part of the laptop there's a bit of gap between the screen and the base, which means that when it gets pushed, the screen sorta gets a little flexible and bends. So do you think this could be an issue? Also, it would be really cool if you could do a battery life of just doing everyday things such as browsing, watching vids, and other light stuff that isn't gaming/heavy. Oh and also a full battery life when gaming. Also, I heard that this laptop is quite noisy, can u do a noise test for each of the config settings (light, default, and full-on gaming). Cheers man love ya content!

In fact I think it's actually soothing if you manage to even hear it. When I first turned on the max fan speed I was surprised how loud it gets. But it's not loud enough either to drown out other noises. It might only be annoying in a silent room. Max fan speed hasn't turned on automatically for me. I always enable it myself before it even gets hot so it won't go above 80⁰c Battery is disappointing. I feel it drains pretty fast. May be because I enabled performance mode and discrete mode (graphics intensive tasks for gaming). I haven't paid attention to how many hours it lasts me but it does feel like it drains quickly. You can click the battery icon and change power mode tho between "best battery life" to "best performance." The charger gets extremely hot when plugged in it actually burns a bit if you hold it for too long. The flexing does worry me a bit. I just make sure I grab it from the front where the mouse pad is and put my other hand at the bottom where the vents are. First time I grabbed it from the flexible side I heard a click 😬 not sure what that was. My RGB keyboard came with the 4 zone one. Idk what to tell you about paying another $10. In conclusion, it's an awesome laptop but battery is its worst factor. Hoping to see a review of these things anyway to see if mine came in a little faulty or used..... If anyone can actually answer me a question tho that would be great. The right fan seems to be weaker. Could that be because it has 2 exhaust vents? One from the back side and one from the right?
The rgb for $10 concern that d2d mentioned is only applicable when you buy it from hp’s website. This config he has on vid is the same one that I have, I got it from bestbuy and it already has that 4zones rgb that d2d mentioned for $10. If you check on hp’s website there are 3 types of lighting if you customize and order from them directly, single rgb> 4zones rgb> per key rgb. Both amd and intel that you can buy directly from bestbuy has already the 4zone rgb. Hope this helps thank you

Hi, The question I had is about the build quality of this laptop, the main thing being the screen flex, how would this affect the laptop in the long run, and the second question is about the vent below the laptop, does dust, dog hair, etc., really get inside the laptop and may block the fan? Thanks.
Vivek Sivalingam 120hz, the top cover was bending in the screen causing it to bleed. Are you trying to deny this lmao I legit own one. Well, two of them.

@@UCO-zq3qp honestly I feel it depends on your budget cause the 2060 and 1660 ti have a slight difference. But the price difference is huge. The performance mode makes the fans almost silent, even when gaming it will not be at full potential.
Question for you Matthew: Does this HP Omen 15 have the 115 watt refreshed RTX 2060, or the old 80 watt? EDIT: I just purchased this laptop, and got it in the mail yesterday. I can confirm, it is definitely the refreshed 2060 variant. The GPU has the ID number 10DE 1F15, which can be found by using GPU-Z on the new 2060. Just so everyone is aware.
@@whowatwhere7936 I actually found my answer, but in a weird way. On HP's site, they list the HP Omen 15 (specifically the 2020 refresh) with a 2060 as have 6 GB of DDR6 memory. Purchased the AMD version at Best Buy yesterday and I absolutely love this thing. Its so quiet and runs extremely cool. Keyboard feels absolutely amazing to type on, really enjoy that. The trackpad is wonderful to use. Coming from a 2019 13" Macbook Pro, the trackpad was my biggest worry because Apple has kind of dominated that for awhile. But wow, this Omen 15 trackpad is a pleasure to use. It has a ton of different gestures that are very similar to the MBP and I've been thoroughly impressed by it. Overall, its an incredible machine for the money. I spent $1300 with tax with a $100 discount. I have the Ryzen 7 4800, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, GTX 1660 Ti model. The overall appearance of the laptop is nice too. I really like how simple it is with some newer tweaks that I hadn't really seen done before. The best way to describe it is minimalistic with a little pizzazz. Can't wait to put it through some long-term use.
Bought this laptop about 2 weeks ago, it was on sale at my local best buy for $1299 and I jumped on it and I love this laptop, way better than my old one!
I got the AMD model last week. Absolutely LOVE it. It's handled everything I've thrown at it extremely well. I think I've cracked 80° on the CPU once. Massive vents all over keeps it running cool. Highly recommend!
@@47yahska it's pretty much my only concern. It definitely has some flex when closed and applying pressure on that gap. I don't plan on testing the integrity of it, though I haven't seen any actual reports of breaking
A comparison of this vs the G14 would be a brilliant video as they are both utilising the new Ryzen 4000 processors and they're both at a similar pricepoint! Love the videos!
Just got this exact configuration and it’s INCREDIBLE! Best computer I’ve ever owned; currently running overwatch with epic graphics at a consistent 180 FPS
Nice video, this new Omen 15 is one of the rare laptops that have had little if any negative feedback. The only issue posed by some is the soft lid... apart from that everything else is a winner including price!! I just got one off ebay...
Nice intro. Hp has a history of running hot! I am sure you will be benchmarking it. Can't wait for a full review! Do you think it is comparable to new Lenovo legion 5i or 7i series??

Please review the battery life. I want to know whether I can take this laptop to university. So I want to know how long it lasts in like extreme power saving mode (as at uni I’ll only need to use word or something)
I've had this laptop with the 4800H and 1660 TI for about two weeks. The laptop works perfect and I have no issues with it (as much as I wish it had a full-size keyboard). The charger that was sent with it is faulty. There are some small pits on the prongs for the outlet and there is a visible and audible spark as it is plugged in. I've contacted their customer support and they are so far reluctant to replace the charger even though the laptop is less than a month old and is under warranty for a year. As far as I'm concerned HP has made a great product but their sub-par customer support is something to watch out for.
I have heard about an AMD 4800H + RTX 2060 + 144Hz model. Any thoughts on its performance? Also, a detailed thermal review would be appreciated because the Omen lineup is not known for great thermals, so would like to know if HP worked on that area! Love the videos Matthew! Keep them coming :)
Can you do a video comparing Omen 15 (intel) and Legion 5i? Really in doubt what to purchase. Being a Security Analyst, I like the privacy shutter in Legion's webcam. What about the rest of the features?
A couple questions that I'd love to see answered in a full review: There is an AMD model; I already figured you had the Intel Model when I heard Thunderbolt, but how does the AMD model run in comparison? Also, are there spec limitations for going with AMD (have recently learned that that's AMD's own fault, btw)? What other (potentially cheaper) screen and GPU options are there?
There is a major con in new #hpomen152020 laptop. There is a gap between the keyboard and the screen when tha laptop is closed. The laptop's upper portion is resting at the palm rest area, but other portions of the screen is above the keyboard area. It creates a gap. And it decreases the durability of the screen. When a little ammount of load is given to the screen it flex so much. So when a person is carrying his laptop in the lower compartment of the bag by the load of the upper compartment the laptop screen damage change has increased. Please test this. One of my friend is now suffering from this issue.
278 nits seems a little dim for outdoors. Can it play Solitaire at 3fps? Will it fry eggs in Antarctica and condense water in the Sahara? Does it improve the helicopter crashing experience in COD Warzone?
Beautiful logo. BTW bro, a month ago you uploaded about new 2020 helios 300 model of Rtx 2070 max Q maybe of 1200$.. when will you do unboxing and review of it ? :)
Great review thanks Matthew. Two questions though - what is the webcam like (in these days of social distancing that's become something to consider), and can the multi-colours of the keyboard be turned off, or at least changed to all white? Asking as it won't only be the young gamer in the family wanting to use this laptop. :)
Keeping performance aside., How's the build ? Have seen lot of videos where the screen flexes a lot. And that indent near the keyboard makes the lid very sensitive to pressure while travelling. Concerned if it would hold up !! Care to comment on that please ?

hows the cooling ? does it get hot when you're playing games for a long time ?
oh noo so long for waiting but i like ur review, thankyouuu
This is seriously a great unboxing
Seriously thank you 🙏
Pretty chill unboxing.
Another great review
Thank you !
One clean look!!
Bought this laptop about 2 weeks ago, it was on sale at my local best buy for $1299 and I jumped on it and I love this laptop, way better than my old one!
Great video Math
I was hopping to get the hp omen logo on the charging brick
Love the clean design. Hope this becomes a consistent industry trend.
What a design upgrade 👌
I got the AMD model last week. Absolutely LOVE it. It's handled everything I've thrown at it extremely well. I think I've cracked 80° on the CPU once. Massive vents all over keeps it running cool. Highly recommend!
You got Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7?
@@47yahska Ryzen 7
Any screen flex issue?
@@47yahska it's pretty much my only concern. It definitely has some flex when closed and applying pressure on that gap. I don't plan on testing the integrity of it, though I haven't seen any actual reports of breaking
Does it have adaptive sync?
A comparison of this vs the G14 would be a brilliant video as they are both utilising the new Ryzen 4000 processors and they're both at a similar pricepoint! Love the videos!
Just got this exact configuration and it’s INCREDIBLE! Best computer I’ve ever owned; currently running overwatch with epic graphics at a consistent 180 FPS
Same. Its a great laptop and seems like its gonna last me a good few years
2022:unboxing a gaming laptop then playing among us in it
Nice video, this new Omen 15 is one of the rare laptops that have had little if any negative feedback. The only issue posed by some is the soft lid... apart from that everything else is a winner including price!! I just got one off ebay...
That is a laptop done really well...
Good work hp...
This design is soo good
literally no reviewer except for you addressed the 180° display! great hands on video!
Good job on the review, Matt. Is that the refreshed 115W rtx 2060 ??
Nice intro. Hp has a history of running hot! I am sure you will be benchmarking it. Can't wait for a full review!
Do you think it is comparable to new Lenovo legion 5i or 7i series??

Matthew Moniz 2020:
Uses a curled strand of hair from his forearm to connect an external monitor to mini display port.
Definitely the next leap in quantum tech.
This looks 100 times better, It’s professional with very good specs, amazing !
Can we get a comparison to the G14
i have that laptop and must i say this is hands down the best stock cooling ive ever ever seen!!!!
the tkl keyboard layout is way better than a full size layout with cramped numpad kudos to hp for doing it
Huge improvement from last year
Absolutely love it 😍 I have the same variant and it runs everything I throw at it effortlessly!
Do you think this will be good for flight simulator 2020!!
@@chuck176 Most definitely, I already have it Pre-downloaded!
John Lopresti is this the rtx2060!
They have it at bestbuy for $1,449
A pitty you haven't got the Ryzen model. I am really looking forward for your review. 👍
You and me both!
Please review the battery life. I want to know whether I can take this laptop to university. So I want to know how long it lasts in like extreme power saving mode (as at uni I’ll only need to use word or something)
Great releases this year from these gaming laptop companies.
Should I buy this or ASUS zephyrus m
Can't we pair AMD processor with 20th gen Nvidia series ?
Some people say that some models come with a plastic lid and some with a metal one, could you confirm? As apparently the lid is quite flimsy
Hey Matt, can you consider sharing light on the wattage of the GPU in the full review? Thanks
So when a person is carrying his laptop in the lower compartment of the bag by the load of the upper compartment the laptop screen
damage change has increased.
Please test this.
One of my friend is now suffering from this issue.
What happened to the screen
thoughts on sticker placement
278 nits seems a little dim for outdoors. Can it play Solitaire at 3fps? Will it fry eggs in Antarctica and condense water in the Sahara? Does it improve the helicopter crashing experience in COD Warzone?
We need to know the price of Ryzen 7, 1660 Ti and greater than 60 Hz model for this HP OMEN.
Bought mine from Best Buy on sale for $1200. 144 Hz panel, AMD, 1060 ti
@@slotholopolis2314 1060 ti ?
@@kuzonCS2 correct. Knew I forgot a spec!
**1660 Ti**
Sorry! I'm going back to bed
Bear in mind that the 144hz panel is not that colour accurate
@@mukilanmuthu that is also something I want to know. Helios 300 2020 is such a better choice as it will offer better display.
do you prefer this laptop for animation or vfx
this laptop so good. i want this one
Beautiful logo. BTW bro, a month ago you uploaded about new 2020 helios 300 model of Rtx 2070 max Q maybe of 1200$.. when will you do unboxing and review of it ? :)
How’s the sticker placement? I wanna see that in the review lol
I like the way it is the "sticker placement guy" that gets the crit, not just the placement!
Duncan Moore we must fire for bad sticker placement lol
PLZ GIVE A REVIEW OF GAMES AND PERFORMANCE 🙏
I heard the battery life isn't good
thermal throttling yay or nay?
My question is on the durability of the laptop given the huge amount of screen flex it has.
Legit awesome looking laptop and the keyboard layout is best! Hopefully, they can get rid of asymmetrical chin next year.
Great review thanks Matthew. Two questions though - what is the webcam like (in these days of social distancing that's become something to consider), and can the multi-colours of the keyboard be turned off, or at least changed to all white? Asking as it won't only be the young gamer in the family wanting to use this laptop. :)
Great video Matthew 👌🏻👌🏻
Can you plz reveiw the DELL G5 15 SE next???🙏🏻
Is the brighness enough for outdoor use ?
Thinking buying this exact model hope the temps are good while gaming... 👍🏻
Keeping performance aside., How's the build ? Have seen lot of videos where the screen flexes a lot. And that indent near the keyboard makes the lid very sensitive to pressure while travelling. Concerned if it would hold up !! Care to comment on that please ?
What's about the numpad? I think we'll miss it.
Fingerprints, please. Is it a fingerprints magnet? Thanks!
wheres the power button?
This laptop looks great, if I were into gaming laptops this would definitely a consideration.
they didn't update the 17in model with this new design
What about a 17 inch variant?
When is it coming to Australia cause I want to get one but I can't get it in Australia which sucks
