I made 3 blankets (one crochet that used 2 kg of yarn and 2 knitted that used 2,3 kg ) and crochet pillow cases ... and I had so much fun working with different colors, definitely recommend it! I cannot donate or gift and I'm happy to use every skein
Good luck with your destashing journey! Tunisian crochet is a very good way for that as it eat up much more yarn. Some of Toni Lipsey's blankets will be the easiest way to get ride of multiple colours and having gorgeous Christmas gift for some of your beloved.
@@elimeedesigns she has several Tunisian crochet blankets on her YT channel and for free on her blog. One of them is called the Mulberry Afghan (in her RUclips.m it’s just called Tunisian crochet baby blanket.) But she gives you the multiple so you can make it any size. In that video, I noticed she’s using the same mandala ombre yarn you held up toward the beginning of this video! That would be a really pretty type of yarn to use combined with a solid color.
New watcher so I don't know how keen you are on baskets but I love making scrap yarn baskets. They help hideaway current wips and you can make them any size you want depending on your need and/or decor.
Great video. My stash is overwhelming, at 88 large totes. I'm trying to decide how to attack this stash/hoard. I'm working on it slowly, but trying to decide whether to sell or give away a good sized chunk. I should with the stuff that actually hurts to use (arthritis), but it's all yarn I really wanted when I purchased it. Thank you and take care.
Thank you for sharing your story. I agree it is hard, but I don’t regret donating the yarn that caused me pain - self-care is important. Be kind to yourself. Slowly chipping away at it is moving in the right direction. Maybe pick a cause close to your heart so that it feels good to let it go?
This video is really inspiring! I'm setting parameters around any new yarn purchases and going to work on a lot of baby blankets soon (I have to catch up on a few that have already been born)! I find that making patchwork heart or flower granny square blankets really burn through yarn and are great for using up those little pieces as the heart or petals.
Thank you! And thank you for the suggestion. I hope that you have fun crocheting your baby blankets - they're one of my favourite projects :) How many do you have left to make?
Thank you so much! 😊 I definitely feel fortunate to have built up such a big stash over time, but I can totally understand how it might seem like a dream! Honestly though, having a large stash can feel overwhelming at times, especially when trying to keep it organized or figuring out what to use it for. That’s why I’m excited about stashbusting - it’s helping me get creative and reduce the pile! It’s all about finding the right balance that works for you. 💕 What projects are you working on with your yarn right now?
I just posted a video of my charity hats for 2024, they are great stash busters! I always double strand those. Another idea is the Scrappy yarn baskets, using a larger hook - you can strand 3-4 together, making the basket more sturdy.
@@elimeedesigns At the moment I'm losing at "not growing the stash..." I'll probably be in busting mode in a couple more months, when all of me that's visible is my frantically waving hand... Have a great day. 🐞
I need to join you on this journey! I am desperately trying to stash down. Most of my stash is 4ply/sock weight. I am holding yarns double to make a dk weight for a blanket, knitting lots of socks and scarves/wraps. I have sold a few skeins but not nearly enough!
@@elimeedesigns I’ve recently purchased the 52 weeks of socks book but I think most are going to be too complicated for me! I’m generally a vanilla socks kind of girl 🧦
I’ve only tried vanilla-style socks so far too lol. I’m saving up my best sock yarn for knitting socks - my current knitting goal (I’m very beginner atm). I’ll have to take a gander at the book and dream!

Lovely video. I enjoy watching and listening to you! The loud on-and-of music inbetween is what ruins it for me. Especially when it is added for short periods and cut off for short comment constantly. I don't know if you appreciate feedback, so I am sorry if you don't, but the parts where you talk are very enjoyable❤😊
Thank you ☺️, and I very much appreciate the feedback! I hope to improve with every video, and your feedback tells me how I can do this. Are you stashbusting too?
@@elimeedesigns Yes, I try to! To have a ginormous stash makes me stressed almost as if i had the same amount of wips. I have knitted ten sweaters from stash this year, and reduced it a lot, but still more to go.

Not a quick answer but a pretty thorough plan for me has been a temperature blanket. I'm not being too careful about color continuity (bright red may have a few different yarns), so I'm going through a ton of dk(ish) yarn! There's also a good FB group for support & ideas :) Oh, and a seaglass sweater will come soon after. The pattern for my blanket was inspired by that style!
Knitted knockers are another great charity. Great to help women who have had a mastectomy and stash bust too. The pattern uses very little yarn App. Fifty yards, i believe, but they are particular about fiber. There is a list of approved yarn brands because they are worn against very delicate skin. They have a crochet and knit version.
I think that the more important question is whether your stash brings you joy (or causes any other issues for you)? There is nothing wrong with a large stash if you have the space, money, and love it ☺️
What about starting an ongoing giant granny square? You can work your leftovers into that when you need something mindless and can always donate them to alzheimers care facilities
