I know it’s overwhelming, but you can do it. Just take it a little at a time. I have been on a journey to work through my yarn stash for about a year now. I have made some beautiful blankets with my scrap and leftover yarns. I’m cheering you on! You can do it!

What a great accomplishment! Now your imagination can run wild with all the projects you’ll plan. I had tamed the beast during COVID, but have gone amok since. I actually stopped crocheting and knitting for a bit, because I made so much and then nobody needed (or wanted) any of it. I have a new purpose making prayer shawls for a ministry and small doily butterflies to give away to random people. Because of the prayer shawls, Dollar Tree has a chunk of my money with their big skeins of Premier Yarn. I think I’ll be making shawls for the next year with the yarn I currently have.

Please don't feel bad! That is not bad at all! I have a yarn room and a storage unit my husband and I call the "yarn barn". LOL! Because when things are on clearance you don't leave them in the store and I make charity blankets so the cheaper the better!

Mine is in 17 - 80 gallon bins plus 3 - 120qt storage bags and at least 6 different large Joann’s and 4 small Joann’s bags in stacks and on an industrial shelf & hanging from my industrial shelf 😂 yours even at the start is better organized than mine will likely ever be!!!! I ended up getting clear plastic bins with lids and put like weights and colors in each one . For each bin I laid all the yarn in that bin out on my bed and took a picture. Then printed the picture and taped it on the end of the bin so when I stacked them I knew exactly what I had. Also the pictures were saved in an album in my photos so I could pull them up at anytime and go to that bin.
That is smart! And you can cross them out once you used them. Aaaaand you have the pictures on your phone so you know exactly what you have when you want to buy new things! I’ve made it a rule to only ever order yarn online when I’m sitting right next to my yarn so I can actually understand if I have something similar already
My 18 year old kiddo loves asking me if I have a project for the yarn I want to buy. I'm thinking maybe I should give him a lil less shenanigans for his questions. 😂 thank you for sharing with us.
This reminds me when I brought home most of my yarn that my grandma gave me. But I don’t have the space to show off my yarn so I bought myself a 27 gallon tote, 2 big suitcases, and some reusable bags for the rest of yarn. I have a tote that has unfinished projects and it’s something I’m planning to work on either the rest of this year and possibly next year. Along with my current projects. So I understand the struggle of organized yarn stash!
I’m letting go of leftovers. My girls is in a Pom Pom making phase so she gets it. I struggle to not buy any yarn fabric and to finish WIPs. I’m just done with the stash. Oh! Look! Yarn! 🫣🤣😠
Oh goodness! I had 6 totes before I moved. I donated and didn’t buy hardly anything for a year. I was down to 3 smaller totes but now I have still 3 totes and 2 boxes sitting in my bedroom. We had a yarn crawl last weekend and was really proud of myself for only buying 3 hanks for projects I have planned for. But I really got to just use out of my stash again. The struggle is real.

Just last year I have been building a little yarn collection and I realized this year I have a bit of a problem 😂 but in my defense I see videos of rooms with yarn and I have maybe 3 storage bins full of yarn 😅 this still isn’t a lot of yarn so don’t feel bad.

@@moonbaecrochet I was told I was allergic to the acrylic fibers in the yarn, which didn't make any sense because my hands would never break out in a rash, so I don't know about that diagnosis considering I'm around it all the time lol. I think it's honestly just because of all the little dinners that come loose when working with it, and being close to our faces, and because we're like in the zone, we don't realize how much fibers were inhaling lol.

With the amount of yarn I've shoved into them over the years, I think they've stood up fairly well. When they do pop out of place, they're very easy to snap back into their grooves. Plus they're pretty affordable so I'd have to give them a solid review👍

Hi. You’re right, T you could’ve open a store a yarn store. If you ever have a storm or something happens, you can just stay home knit or crochet.

i have the same problem with the lily sugar n cream yarn !! and it gets all over my desk, definitely throws lots of fibers when crocheting with it
