Never had to hide my yarn purchases.
    Quite the opposite.
If I am out with hubby doing errands, he will ask if we need to stop at the craft store. Always, yes. Then I will find HIM in the yarn section before I even get there, and he is picking out yarn!
"Feel how soft this one is,"
    "Do you have this shade?"
"Do you need to replenish any colors?"
"You should just get all three, why pick?"
    I love my hubby.

My last purchase of yarn, when it was delivered, my husband said "please tell me that's not yarn". But he apologized. I really needed it, I had to throw away a huge amount of yarn as it got damaged.

I can add one I bet we’ve all done, and that’s “crochet until it hurts.” And the “it” can be so many things or combination thereof. Eyes, back, wrists, hands, where you stab your fingertip with the hook, elbows… I REALLY try not to, and remind myself it’s supposed to be fun… but in a combination with the “just one more row/round” mentality, I can really make myself sore.

I spent three weeks knitting a very fine gauge sweater with an intricate stitch pattern a couple of years ago and after I completed it I had full on trigger thumb. If you don't what that is, just let me tell you it is almost incapacitating (it is related to carpal tunnel syndrome, I think.) It took two months to recover, and I thought I'd never pick up a crochet hook or knitting needle again. Yes, we need to remember to pace ourselves!

My quirky habit is I connect all my yarn scraps and wind them into cakes so I can keep them by my bed and crochet continuous Granny square blankets in the dark. Before bed, in the middle of the night if I wake up, whatever. Once they start getting big I sleep under them while crocheting!

I am so guilty of taking projects in the car and on vacation and not working on them. I have done this so many times now and I have come to the conclusion that bringing a crochet project with me is like having a security blanket. I feel better just knowing it is there, even if I never work on it. I have some crochet hooks with handmade wooden handles and I just love how they feel in my hand and for some odd reason, I hate to be parted from them. I know this is weird, but it's how I roll. We drive from So Cal to AZ a lot to visit our daughters that live there and I will read, sleep, listen to the radio, watch a DVD, all with my project bag either on my lap or tucked in between my feet on the floor. If I do pull my crocheting out, I only work on it for a few minutes then back in the bag it goes. Very strange. Maybe I should take less fiddely projects with me as I do hate getting out scissors and needles and so forth in the car. Will have to think on that before our next vacation.

I don't mind if people register my work, but I have to know to whom and if they appreciate the value of it.
I also put on the TV to something that just becomes background noise. If I pay attention, I inevitably have to frog a row or two, or "fudge it".

One you kind of mentioned I have a fear of running out of yarn and always buy to much for a project and end up with lots of single skeins. The second one is I like to show off my crochet skills and when I go out I purposely choose a WIP that will impress others or be noticed (e.g. a particular difficult stitch pattern, Lost in Time shawl). I got 4 other fribds to join. It's a win-win, enjoy my kitting/ crocheting projects, and see the end to ensure that others who don't crochet, can enjoy it too.
I used to crocheting rag rugs, an absolutely incredible hobby, I sold every single rug and puff seats, with money donated to kids in need. It's beyond joyful the pleasure you receive when others enjoy the hobby you enjoy, too.

If you don’t mind, where/how are you selling online? I‘d like to try that but don’t know how to start. I don’t want to make a business, just to sell some pieces here and there…

You are the kind of person I'd love to go shopping with or have afternoon tea with, while crocheting of course, so we should add an afternoon high tea to our dream vacation. "In the zone!" this is the whole reason I crochet now in my later years, to be distracted from some very real, painful physical restrictions. To help make pain meds work better/longer, I took up knitting/crochet to give my hands something to to while my mind was absorbed in the intricacy of working out a pattern. So, yes I did forget to eat too! But I found hours would have gone by, and still I hadn't reach for the pain relievers! Paired up with binge watching an exciting series - wow!

Your comment touches my heart and is making me tear up. Good for you; I love your attitude. ❤You are making lemonade with those lemons! My dear Mom in law took up crafting and painting as a way to deal with Parkinson's.
She would say much the same things. When the pain and shakiness would get bad, she would retreat to her craft room, and it would help her so much to focus on a project. She's in Heaven now, and we all miss her, but she left a wonderful legacy.❤

I only got three? What I noticed was that I actually did the exact opposite of a lot of the list.
    I do:
    - Crochet past bedtime
    - Crochet in weird places
    - Underestimate yarn
    I don't:
    - Hord hooks (I started knitting before I started Crocheting, and one of the things I love about Crochet is that you don't need to worry about having a million different hooks like you do with needles (circular, straight, double pointed, different lengths...). I bought myself a set of clover amour hooks and that's it)
    - keep my projects (I almost never keep my projects, I love giving things away. In fact, the few WIPs I have abandoned are things I was making for myself.)
    - too many wips (I usually have a couple projects going at once, one smaller one for travel and a larger one for home. I almost always finish what I started.)
    - buy random yarn (pretty much all yarn I buy is for a specific project. I don't really have a stash)
    - get distracted from movies (I almost always have a movie or audiobook or something going when I craft)
    - buying too many patterns/not following patterns i buy (I rarely buy patterns. I know I will just use them as a guideline, so I usually just find something basic and free and use that as inspiration. The only times I follow patterns are for amigarumi, which I rarely make)
There were actually way more things I don't do, those were just what I could remember off the top of my head.

One of my quirky habits is to keep an inventory of my favourite yarn in each colour, I make up a spreadsheet, laminate it, then use a dry erase market to keep track of my quantity of each colour. Then when I want to buy more I go to my inventory to see what I need! It’s ridiculous 😅

I’ve been trying to do patterns completely from pattern but I’ve noticed that truly there’s a mistake or I just don’t like their technique. I still end up pretty close to pattern. I have decided next year and try my first pattern design. I’m finding I can’t find the pattern to do what I want so. It should be fun. I first need finish deadline projects. One other thing I need to crochet constantly so I always have a project with me. What’s fun I find it’s a conversation starter. Thanks for your videos. Sending prayers love and hugs.

I can relate to most of your points and I've been crocheting less than a year! In fact, I'm crocheting as I listen to you, and you know the one about seeing a mistake but not frogging it and you keep going? Well, here I am on a return row and see a pretty obvious mistake a row back, so I overcame my natural instinct to ignore it (who's going to notice it in the overall project???) and I actually frogged back to the mistake. I did cut the yarn at the end of the row so I'm hoping my new, mistake-less row will have enough yarn. :) Love the thought you put into this. AND, it's nice to know we're not alone in our little weirdnesses.

I love both crocheting and knitting, too. No contest between the two. And while I'm not a "serial starter" with crochet projects, what I do is have maybe a crochet project and a knitting project going on at the same time. This benefits my hands to some degree because I'm switching up what I'm doing. Also keeps me more engaged because they are both fun in different ways. And I do buy yarn without a project in mind, and often don't know if I'll knit it or crochet it, sometimes I just wait and let the yarn tell me what it wants to be.

I have been crocheting for about 2 years & after watching this ive discovered im not strange after all.I could certainly relate to so much you said. My mom was a hook addict. I have my favorite that ive used so much I've worn a spot of color off it.

Creative fixes, browsing Shein and Temu thinking "I can crochet that", saving the "good yarn" till I'm "good enough"...

When I’ve finished a little character that has a sweet face on it, I take a moment and give it a big genuine loving cuddle before pricing it while at the same time telling the critter, fruit, veggie or plant character that it is going to make a friend at the shop and I just know if it makes someone smile, they will find their forever home with that person ❤

I’m guilty of most but the one that really gets me, and I thought I was alone in this one and probably nuts about, is getting too emotionally attached to my projects to sell them. I have made several items and gifted them to family, and a few of those I will not make anything for again, but yes I thought I was NUTS in feeling that way about what I make. So glad to know I’m not the only “NUT” out there. Thanks Elise. 😊

Yes, ❤ on the crochet vacation 🙌 I definitely have done a majority of the things you mentioned. The one thing that bothers me is I will start a project and get bored. So I'll start a new project and pretty soon. We'll too many projects and I'll feel overwhelmed. 😅 So I started to just frog projects if they are small or decided to keep it as a swatch to see the stitching later.

I didn’t keep him, but it was fun to agree with so many the things we crochets often do. Truthfully, there were only three or four things that I don’t do. Thanks for your fun videos.❤

I'm guilty of 10. Definitely stay up past bedtime ... I get so into the project, I don't pay attention to the time...& then I'll notice it's midnight..." I just need to finish this row...."

OMG! I scored 27! I have to say, I was at the grocery store the other day and saw a lady with a beautiful crocheted collar. I have no shame and went straight up to her, complimented her on it and asked her if she made it. I love seeing people with crocheted items.
