Or use a quilt instead of a sleeping bag. Then you can put it to the side, tucked in under the side straps and just pull it out and over you when you’re in place.
Heihei 😊 this video answered all my questions about the draumr setup, would love the ultralight set for trips in the Norwegian and Swedish forest both on my Tenere 700, backpacking and kayaking 🤩 krysser fingre 🤞 takk for bra videoer!
I share your pain, yes the grippy stuff is 120x180mm non slip multipurpose mat, £16.95 0n Amazon UK. Hope to hear how you get on with sticky Amoking. 👍
Hi, this was just a 180x120cm non slip sheet off amazon. www.amazon.co.uk/INMOZATA-Multipurpose-Padding-Underlay-120x180cm/dp/B095PFGPYK/ref=sr_1_25?crid=1FWQSN6PSR1EG&keywords=anti+slip+mat&qid=1697813547&sprefix=anti+s%2Caps%2C9864&sr=8-25
@@ShadowCampingmaybe pin this person’s comment. I too was looking for a link or name as I didn’t catch you saying it either. And turns out I had one of these in my house already. Life saver btw! I am tired of slipping down to the foot end while I sleep - can’t avoid tossing and turning
And I’m just gonna use a bit for my torso, and see how that goes. As for the sleeping bag, I’ve been draping it over the ridgeline till I’m inside the Draumr. But I have mostly used my bag as a quilt, and I understand thst getting the bag under you after being lain down is harder than placing it under you off the bat. Do you get cold drafts between your body and the pad while you sleep? I found that to be an issue when sleeping with winds parallel to how I lay down
@@ShadowCamping there is an officiall video of the Amok (how not to get in a draumr or smth simmilar), where head first is one of the ways to get in. I have tried it and it works ;) but entering from the side is my preffered way.
Hmm well as I say whatever works for you. I watched the video but personally did not find success with their way. They are fantastic hammocks tho, just take a little getting used to. All the best 👍

Sounds good, I might try on a cheaper tent or a sleeping cot first as the Amok is very expensive and see how it works on that. It is a shame that the manufacturers do not choose a less slippery material so we did't have to try and fix it. I always use a quilt now as I don't like being restricted in a sleeping bag. Thanks for all the advice. All the best 👍
There are a growing number of 90⁰ flat lay hammocks. I do sleep well in my Draumr and love the room, but it takes up too much of the bedroom, so I am using a Haven inside instead.
This is utterly absurd. To start off, the guy doesn’t get in on the side like you’re supposed to. It’s simple to just hook your bag under the strap on the side opposite where you’re getting in so it doesn’t slide down. And you don’t sleep ON A QUILT. 🤦♂️ What a clown. 🤡
Some people seem to be unable/unwilling to understand others, and some even cruel to different minded people. Mind your own business instead of talking to lowly to such a nice chap. If it were in person you’d likely pay for being rude with a tooth but ig some people think it’s okay to be asshats just because there’s no consequences to themselves
Haha many thanks for your support, some people just comment without thinking or listening which is a skill which seems to be in short supply nowadays. All the best Richard

Yes I always use a quilt but I find it is still very slippery when in the hammock
It good to hear about the different tips, I haven’t decided which way to go. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
This hack has made such a difference to my amok experience, thank you. I cut down some IKEA carpet gripper/underlay.
Great to hear! Glad it helped 👍

Hi. Good video. Love my Amok Draumr, but getting inside the sleeping bag is challenging. I didn't catch the name of the "grippy stuff"

Also I would clip it at the bottom as well because after a night of carefree movement the bottom did ruck up a little bit. 👍
Howdy! Just found your channel & am Subscribing! Im a member of the #SCA.Great video!
Hi, Thanks for the Sub and glad you enjoyed the video. Just having a look at the SCA website, looks great 👍
Could you put a link to the base antiskid sheet, I didn't hear what that material was called

Hi, thanks for your comment I will put a link into the description for anyone else who needs it. All the best. 👍
Love the non-slip will def. try this hack. Find it easier to get in from the side as per tshansen videos
I think with the Amok, it is whatever works for you, do that. All the best 👍
That's good idea they sell that rubber roll in QD
Thanks. 👍
Great Video, thank you for this hack!
Thanks for the feedback. I hope it helps people enjoy the Amok even more. All the best 👍
Maybe one day, but for now my choice is Haven XL 😊
Completely understand and love the Haven myself, 👍
Great idea, but still stick8ng with the Haven xl.😊
No arguments with you, the Haven is amazing. 👍
I climb head first into mine and I do not have the trouble you had.
Thanks for the comment, I haven't tried that way, sounds a bit athletic. Have you any videos of your technique I could look at? All the best 👍

I have no problems getting into bed, it’s always getting out again which
gives me the most trouble..
Yes getting out of the AMOK without ending up in a heap on the floor was the hard part, easy now 👍
I also have trouble getting out but only because it’s so cozy 😂
I’m just going to go ahead and call this the Amok 6.0

This hammock seems to be a solution looking for a problem......
It is the most comfortable one I have slept in but it has a few nuances that you have to get used to. 😂

Amok themselves have a video that shows different ways of getting in and end-straddle is one of them if you are tall enough to do it.
