    4:33 I think something is wrong with your unit Matt. Ain't no way it's taking 100 minutes for something an old Intel took 40 minutes for. The other laptops with the same CPU are 33-35 minutes. That's an almost 200% difference.

  • @xxzmk
    @xxzmk 9 месяцев назад +21

    As a Software Developer I see it as very important for having good upgradeability. I would rather go with a HP Elitebook 845 G10 and get it upgraded from 8 to 64GB of DDR5 Ram and rock that tbh.

    • @fretboardrunner
      @fretboardrunner 9 месяцев назад +1

      I also really like upgradeability but especially with RAM it has its downsides. Slower memory means slower iGPU and slower CPU performance where memory bandwidth matters. It also means higher power consumption. Since I'm a dev, I know the amount of RAM I probably need and I'd rather have longer battery life.
      Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have both and hate to use the option to upgrade later. But at least the prices for 16 or 32 GB are fair enough to just go 1 bigger now. HP is not Apple.

    • @xxzmk
      @xxzmk 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@fretboardrunner Hmm yeah I understand your point. I have had a Lenovo Yoga 7i with Ryzen 7 6800u and 16GB DDR5 6xxxmhz of speed. It was really quick when running with Linux Mint but Windows 11 was a mess of input lag and delay everywhere. There were no Windows 10 drivers and I have had occasional nights, where I ran over the 16GB barrier of Ram many times which slowed me down (Especially when developing Android Apps).
      Since then I have a Main System at home with an i5-13500, 2x 32GB DDR4 3400Mhz and a used GTX 1060 6GB, and I have to say, this is the best thing ever happen to me as a developer. I catched myself averaging between 24-36GB of Ram usage in Windows 10. But on Mint I think a Notebook with sothered 32GB of DDR5 will do totaly. Fine. I just like to have a little bit more headroom.

    • @xxzmk

      Plus I hate the Apple MacBook Keyboards, They suck Di** in my opinion. They are way too easy to actuate, I have a Work Notebook: HP ZBook Fury G7 with i7-10850H and 32GB of Ram with Quadro GPU and I have to say I have fallen in Love with the ZBook and Elitebook 8xx Series Keyboards. This notebook is $759 on HP right now for Black Friday. I just bought a 17" LG Gram with an Intel 1360P for $799 and I'm going to return it. Why? Because while it might be a good price, the Intel processors are inefficient and run hot, so much so that the same LG Gram with an I5 Processor runs as fast as my I7 because of thermal limitations.

    Anyone facing build quality issues on this one? I bought one in Prime day sales last week for dollar equivalent of $690. It had a Sep '23 manufacture date and came with a completely depleted battery. That aside I'm facing below issues
    1. The bottom of the case is ever so slightly curved outward ls and it makes the rubber feet not touch at the ends. This leads to wobble when I rest my palms on the keyboard and type.
    2. The fan has a high pitch whine when it is running. It's an odd frequency that's a bit grating.
    3. Touchpad is a bit springy and rattles on tap. This gives a slight inaccurate feeling on clicks.
    I use a Macbook pro from work, so I'm not sure I'm coming off as spoilt, but I i certainly didn't have similar issues in my past laptop purchases including an HP one.

Sure its wonky sometimes and tends to act up, but again its old now but my friends who the newer models kept coming into trouble with theirs when ive never once had those problem until i dropped mine and the charger port got dislodged. The only reason im looking for a new is cuz its gonna be 7 years old soon, everywhere i gone to want to charge me $1000 just to fix the charger port. All other issues i had was fixed by tech support easily enough.
    Im still looking through the latest reviews of all the laptops of these past two years and somehow my almost 7 year old laptop is better than all of them.
    Yes im probably biased but the fact that my laptop has all the same benefits but none of the weird issues i keep seeing and hearing about until last year. My brother who works with computers took one look at mine and said if i just get it fixed it work better than what out on the market right now. I hate that he's right.

      Is size, weight and build quality important to you? You'll be sacrificing some screen size with the Blade in exchange for portability. You will also sacrifice some GPU performance and features, the lower wattage 3070 ti in the Razer won't do as well and doesn't support DLSS 3 frame generation so it won't age as gracefully (in a few years when the laptops start struggling with the latest games, frame generation will make more of a difference in keeping new games playable). However, the Blade is a much more premium laptop with likely better fit and finish and more portable. So if performance is most important to you, get the LOQ, if fit and finish, looks and portability are important you can get the Blade.
