    **DEAL ALERT** Right now the OLED model is on sale for $749.00 which is an absolute steal. Here is the link: HP Pavilion Plus 14: tidd.ly/3FFKpQD

      The link provided here is not to the model reviewed. There's a significant difference between the reviewed model and the one linked to eg (Ryzen 5 vs 7, OLED vs non-OLED)

    This is an overall great laptop for a student or business executive that doesn't want or need a super expensive device to get the job done. It has a good port selection, beautiful OLED 2.8K display, excellent 1440p webcam with all the background effects and clear internal mics with a long battery life. In conclusion, the HP Pavilion Plus 14 (2023) pretty much checks all the boxes in a 14" device. Excellent review Andrew!! 👍😁

    I saw this with amd 7840u, 16gigs ram, 512 ssd, 2.8k 120hz oled, 68 wh battery etc, which was priced at $739($350 discount) which is a steal imo.

    The model with the OLED screen, 16 GB of RAM, and Ryzen 7 7840 HS CPU is honestly really good value. I'd say it beats the XPS 13 and 13 Plus this year!

    • @handlemonium
      @handlemonium 9 месяцев назад +7

      Yeah this is basically HP's response to the $799-$999 Asus Zenbook 14X OLED that sports the Core i7-13700H.
      Sure the 13700H beats the 7840HS by a few percent as a CPU, but the sheer efficiency and what is essentially an RX 470-class iGPU crammed inside this AMD APU (instead of the i7's GTX 1050-class iGPU) is what gives the Pavilion 14 Plus the TRUE edge in value 😎
      The 13.5-inch GTX 1650MQ Surface Book 3 is still pretty great though with comparable graphics grunt if you want a well-built and versatile detachable 2-in-1 sans upgradability/repairability 😏

Hp computers might not have the fastest specs compared to other brands but they perform quite well and will meet most users requirements quite easily. Display is good. Port selection is good. Anyone facing build quality issues on this one? I bought one in Prime day sales last week for dollar equivalent of $690. It had a Sep '23 manufacture date and came with a completely depleted battery. That aside I'm facing below issues
    1. The bottom of the case is ever so slightly curved outward ls and it makes the rubber feet not touch at the ends. This leads to wobble when I rest my palms on the keyboard and type.
    2. The fan has a high pitch whine when it is running. It's an odd frequency that's a bit grating.
    3. Touchpad is a bit springy and rattles on tap. This gives a slight inaccurate feeling on clicks.
    I use a Macbook pro from work, so I'm not sure I'm coming off as spoilt, but I i certainly didn't have similar issues in my past laptop purchases including an HP one.

      Do you think it could have been a dud unit? I bought mine recently too and the fan noise was absolutely stellar. With my amateur tests my unit under load was only ever around 37db. Though I do agree with you about not having fan control. Man that was a bit annoying to discover. I don't blame you, I would hve returned my unit too if it was too noisy.

    You should really be comparing processor performance to others in the same energy consumption segment as well as cost segment - ie, you didn't have any intel U processors listed, which is a bit misleading, because the 7840U is the best value per watt around and here it looks like a middle of the road chip. The battery life to performance ratio on these processors crushes anything else by a mile.
