Thank you so much for cutting out the non racing if only we could have better announcers as they never mentioned Katelyn looking over toward the stands each lap in the latter part of the race and they never mentioned why she was looking at her watch you could see she was taking lap splits. I never watch espn for this reason, I like to see the race from beginning to end.
Her fist time at 10k as a Sophomore and she almost sets the record. Absolutely a joy to watch. Her kick is so incredibly strong. Prayers that she stays healthy. Thanks for posting this, I am definitely a fan.
That she runs so well and has the knowledge and discipline not to injure herself brings tears to my eyes. She is a true champion. Fabulous talent on the rise to glory ❤❤❤
@@eltonalbert5714 Yes. On a hot & humid night and no one to press her she still had a very impressive time. If pressed she very well may have set a record. It's crazy to watch her stride along smoothly in the last laps of a 10K like she's in the middle laps of a 3K.
I became a fan of hers when she was dominating as a sophomore in h.s. Her graceful power and dominating wins drew my attention, and she has only gotten better each year, and remained humble throughout. Her lung capacity is phenomenal - she’s hardly breathing heavily after running hard for nearly 33 minutes. Congratulations on your victory, Katelyn! 🥇🏃♀️
Great run Katelyn on your 10k debut, let's also give a shout out to the other pack girls who ran a brilliant race, the pack is becoming a real powerhouse. 👏🙂
I haven't been watching Katelyn for very long but can already instantly recognize her style and even how she holds herself at the starting line. She's one of a kind. I don't watch track events but she came up on my YT feed somehow and now I've watched more and more of her races, going back to high school. Had pretty much that form back then.
Amazing. She ran 1:09.7 on her final lap - with no one pushing her but herself. And she wasn't even tired afterwards. If she had some competition, I'm sure she would have shattered that meet record.
@@peterhammer6915 Yep... She hasn't reached her peak... Anoucer says that she has another five to ten years if she don't get no injuries. Exiting time for her.... I am sure she has other goals as wll.
I remember the first time I seen Katelyn run at a Highschool meet , I said to myself then that she was the one to watch and I was right. Katelyn's tenacity , determination , true grit and sportsmanship are top notch.
I'm 62 this year. Had a stroke, flat on my back for 2 months. Right side gone, no movement. Driving and walking now. All that resume to say, Ole Valti, you don't have back and lung issues.... you have an age issue hahhaha. None of us are what we used to be. I was racing off road dirt bike enduros not 8 years ago in the AA. Get out ther and do stuff man, they make some great electronic gizmo exercisers. Imma try to ride trails in Colorado in late July.
Ive been watching her RUclips since her high school. She was awarded Gatorade athlete of the year during all her high school years. That is in all competitions. She set a new mile high school national record for high school girls.
I have always admired distance runners maybe because I was such a poor runner. Years later I discovered I had heart and lung issues. Tuohy is so gifted to be strong and healthy.
Excellent debut at 10,000m for KT. Great race. This is the distance I believe Katelyn will use to hit top level Internationally. I'm picking Olympics, 2028, 10,000m for Katelyn to shine. On a different note, also Cross-Country and possibly Road Running. Please remember that NCAA College/University level for middle/long distance Track, is a much lower level than Open Grade events. Cheers.
It's a real joy to see a human being running so incredibly fluidly - almost making the motion an art-form. I'm not usually a great athletics fan, but this young lady is very special.
I didn't think she would move up to the 10K. She not only did it but also won her debut! I wonder if she'll entertain a marathon after college like Conner Mantz. (5/11/23)
Katelyn always lets people know how happy she is at NC State. She’s being guided by a great coach. Going from a NCAA record 5K race at 15:03 to great learning experience with the 10K. Katelyn’s growth with coach Hennis is great advertising for NC State. Be all you can be at NC State!
Mary Cain is definitely the best example of bad coaches controlling every aspect of an athlete from style, types of exercises, sleep, diet, what they say and do. What to wear, etc. I think Mary was certainly a mismanaged athlete😢
Great strategy for first performance. Take it easy for 23 lqps then finish stronger in the last two after looking at her watch. It's great , Quarzo, her teammate finished second. Looking forward to Touhy going sub 15 in the 5k.
Katelyn might get all the attention, but every one of those girls are doing a TON of running - they all deserve the recognition. I want to know even what the last place girl is doing, I was never able to break 33min, although I never really trained seriously.
@@katelyntuohyfans I discovered the young lady while I was bouncing around the internet when she was extremely young. I was mesmerized with her beautiful, effortless running gate. Really looking forward to great things for her including Olympic glory!
She's setting collegiate records in some events but her times are still several seconds behind world record levels. She's talked about the 2024 Olympics but I don't know if she'll be ready yet to compete at a world class level. I think 2028 will more likely be her prime.

@@bluenetmarketing It was an observation. The key point of the observation was that they went out very slow. At the ACC, also with warm conditions, they were content to run behind a runner who was hitting 80-82 seconds a lap. At the SEC, the better runners were content to hang behind a runner doing 84-90. That led to a much slower race. Plus, the SEC didn't have a Tuohy pushing the pace at the end.

It will be interesting to see if Katelyn Touhy remains at N.C. State through her full eligibility. Here in 2023, she's only a sophomore. If she stays until 2024, she would graduate with her Bachelor's degree. Staying for an additional year as a graduate student would allow her to compete as a collegiate athlete for 4 years. Who knows how high she could set the bar for female collegiate distance runners, were she to do so? The only problem as I see things is finding her sufficient competition to keep her focused, hungry, and challenged. It might mean running in the maximum number of professional competitions that the NCAA will allow in order for Touhy to be pushed hard enough to continue progressing, and not stagnate.
No one knows her mind, but the new collegiate rules allow for her to make very decent money from endorsements. That lessens the monetary lure of going pro early.
There are more videos on Katelyn Tuohy on You Tube than all other runners combined. She's an awesome runner but I think she has a parent or two who is a real promoter.
I hope people don't put too much pressure on her as she still has a long way to go. I also think she should be put into more races against faster runners, with her attitude she would be up for it especially being an intelligent young woman. In any sport playing against better opposition improves you if you have the right mental attitude as she clearly has. I'm not even an American and I want her to continue getting better.
