Amazing how many guys are sub 30 minutes. Top 3 all had stunning performances. Blanks with the repeat. Samuel with 1 shoe and Schubert with the huge shocker, very accomplished runner but I don’t think too many people expected him to check in 3rd.
Can someone explain to me why they go out to die in the first kilometer? Knowing that it can then cost them significantly in the second half, some check at 2.44 and drop as high as 3.13
You get trapped in the back if you do, also you get about 60seconds of "free running" as you use the anabolic sprinting energy that otherwise is wasted. Finally, it is mentally easier to stay with people and use them than risk being pulled back by those around you and inivertantly slowing down
like sethread said, you have to get out and get into a good position for the race. It takes waaaayyyy too much energy to try to pass people -- in a big race like this- if you're not in a good place. So, it would be disastrous to have a slow start. there's a line, of course. You don't want to run too fast, and then die. But you want to be in a place where you can hold your position (basically) for the rest of the race. Or at least put yourself into position where you can pass a couple people at the end.
How can someone run in 5 ncaa national cross country meets? Do eligibility rules exist? I feel like this is the scene from benchwarmers. Dudes been in the ncaa for 8 years.
Americans calling this xc is hilarious 😂😂😂 yall never seen a proer cross country course in your life. I challenge any one of you to race in British xc championships, no one would make the top 30

Yeah, those glasses helped him.
harvard boy, champion again...blanks, too smart and too strong for em...again.
Great running mechanics by Blanks. Nearly all movements going forward, not much wasted movement up and down or side to side.
I noticed that as well!
Blanks is a beast! Love the academic and athletic prowess.👊
gotta give that man Shuby some more respect!
Would’ve been closer had Samuel not lost a shoe. Awesome race from him and congratulations to Blanks once again.

@@sethread26 ohhh, Thanks for your explanation, I didn't know about the 60 seconds of sprints using your anabolic sprinting energy
