NCAA D1 had granted all 2020-21 athletes an extra year of eligibility. Katelyn Tuohy entered college in the fall of 2020, there was covid and it affected the schedule of the fall and winter sports of 2020. So the NCAA has granted the fall and winter sports athletes an extra year of playing/competing eligibility, whether they compete in the 2020-21 season or not. This means that even if Tuohy competed as a freshman during the 2020-2021 season, it will not count against her playing/competition years. The fall season includes the sport CROSS COUNTRY and the winter season includes the sport INDOOR TRACK. OUTDOOR TRACK is different. If athletes competed in the 2021 Outdoor Track seaosn, that playing year counted against their eligibility because OUTDOOR TRACK is not a fall or winter sport... it is a spring sport, and NCAA did not include spring sports in the extra year rule. Tuohy ran in the cross country season, indoor track and outdoor track season as a freshman last year but because of the "ncaa extra year" rule, her first year of competition didn’t count against her years eligibility. Tuohy stayed as a freshman during the season of the 2021-2022 cross country and indoor track and field season. Meanwhile for the outdoor season, she will now be a sophomore!!!!! Because last year's outdoor season counted! The athletes enrolled in 2021-2022 and onwards DO NOT get an extra year. This is how katelyn tuohy's playing years should go (if she will not redshirt and run all seasons through 2025) 2020-2021 XC(fr) IN(fr) OUT(fr) 2021-2022 XC(fr) IN(fr) OUT(so) 2022-2023 XC(so) IN(so) OUT(jr) 2023-2024 XC(jr) IN(jr) OUT(sr) 2024-2025 XC(sr) IN(sr) OUT(no playing years left) read more about it here: www.ncsasports.org/coronavirus-sports/ncaa-eligibility-coronavirus#top lanthorn.com/81318/sports/understand-the-ncaa-covid-19-eligibility-extensions/
A joy to see Katelyn run; another dominating performance by a warrior. What is noteworthy is that, in addition to her superb form & stride, Katelyn obviously trains her entire body and hits the weights & flexibility routines hard. Her core and upper body strength help give her a significant edge over the competition, particularly as regards the jet-propelled kick she is developing.
I have watched this young lady smoke the field in her high school days. Putting laps on everyone. A little tougher field in college but hope to see her in the Olympics some day.
32s last lap.. and its not even a fast track and no one is pushing her.. wow im excited to see her race again.. her kick improved so much in just 2 months
I’ve been following tuohy since she was in jr high. What a gutsy talented runner. And only a sophomore. Wow. I hope her knee stays healthy. You go girl!
Michael Jordan dunking. Roger Federer hitting a forehand. Tiger Woods hitting his irons. Ken Griffey Jr. hitting a home run. Kaitlyn Tuohy running. Out of this world beauty.
5:30 , something I've learned to unappreciate is hardwork. Dedication yes, but it's never about how hard you work, it's how smart, how efficient and about priorities and neutralization of stress.
What a breath of fresh air. It is so wonderful that the focus of college women’s sports has shifted to a more wholesome and engaging athletes. And not just Tuohy. North Carolina State University has a much more positive outlook than does Iowa and LSU. Those two schools are wallowing in their own negative attitudes. The ACC appears to be the conference for women’s sports and academics.
Set a meet record tonight for 5k by 16 seconds at Virginia Challenge. First outdoor meet this year. 15:14.61 Might have been paced by 4 other N.C. State girls who dropped out. Shaw, Mareno, Starliper and Vess.
It is wonderful to see Touhy out on the track doing what she does best. She has the best defense against a kicker that I’ve ever seen: she just takes the lead and expands on it, with variations of course, but that seems to be he strategy: just make the kickers’ irrelevant. Not easy to do.
Looking at Tuohy you'd never know she just ran a 5K race...looks like she took a casual stroll down to the corner store. When she becomes fully physically mature she's going to do great things.
husband speaking - age 80, I bet every front runner with Miss Tuohy on her shoulder is thinking, when is she going to pass me. or heck, i've lost the race already. she is so strong.
isnt she a sophomore

Her running style is great, and she hardly seems out if breath. I expect her to be in Paris 2024.
Thanks for uploading! So amazing to see her at her best

Those last few laps are a statement.
I’ve been following tuohy since she was in jr high. What a gutsy talented runner. And only a sophomore. Wow. I hope her knee stays healthy. You go girl!

Wow. What a show of dominance. A truly gifted runner.
So many superb athletes on the track today.
A wonderful athlete and a joy to watch. Greetings Katelyn from England.
Been enjoying watching her run since before high school and she is amazing. There’s got to be an Olympic medal on the horizon.
So great to see Katelyn running alone again like she did in high school. Look out world, here she comes.
Congratulations Katelyn. One race at a time.
Tuohy Looked AMAZING out there! Even the last laps!! So Happy for Her!!!
I see you Katelyn! You looked great! 66 on the last 400! Smoking indeed. Good job on the NCAA's race too.
Tuohy looks like she could go again! I see a HUGE year from her:). Go Pack!
Kaitlin gets my vote! Glad to see her back in form, after what she went through. Dedicated athlete.
that was great very nice run
love watching Tuohy run.
Love watching K T run great job
Love seen her run! Great form!
We need more young ladies like her and her teammates
Great race. I think one of the guys meant to say Lauri Henes, not Elly (her daughter). Usually, the error is the mispronunciation of their last name.
Great Job Katlyn! What's next on your calendar? You're Never Alone, we'll always stand with you.
Way to go! Congrats!
Touchy is such a smooth runner, I'm no way a runner but I enjoy watching the pros.
TOUHY HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RUNNING FORM OF THEM ALL
Way to go Katelyn! I love to watch your talents displayed.
Paul J Barkocy, I agree, I just hope she’s not doing too many miles too young and burns out, I trust her coaches will look after her.
And Tuohy is a top academic as well as a fantastic athlete. Let's hope her knee holds up. Watching from Idaho--not Boise.
It is inspiring to see super stars emerge and team efforts.
Wow! Those last two laps ... just WOW!
We are looking at the future Olympic gold medal winner will be in her near future! She is just getting better and better! One heck of a race! ❤️
Touhy is magnificent!!!

well, shes been doing post-race interviews since she was a 7th grader hahahaha
She is the best of the best.

Beautiful running, Congratulations 🎊

That's our girl !
Excelente atleta. Necesita disminuir a menos de 14:30 para correr en las Olimpiadas. Estoy segura que lo logrará.
LOOKS LIKE HIGH SCHOOL TIMES AGAIN, INCREDIBLE RECOVER BUT FINALLY.
Great performance ! ( and she is a real girl)
her form is so perfect she looks like a machine running
Tuohy comes off like, “I’m not tired. Let’s do it again”.
Katelyn is amazing
Wow the top ten I have no idea who they are. It is sad and they are incredible women and deserve much more respect.
Incredible run

WOW...amazing race
Katelyn crosses the line and just starts walking around being social. Most cross the line and hands to knees gasping is the way to go.
Good job

No answer?
So impressive and so modest.
So small, but SO strong! 👍👍👍
She was born to run , it looks effortless when she puts the gas down. Just a little faster turnover and she motors away.
