      @@zaratomsart I've just this minute picked up my pastel pencils for the first time. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Wow! This is amazing, as well as encouraging! Currently attempting a leopard; trying to match the colours instead of putting down the correct tonal values! Such an important lesson! Thank you Zara!

    Wonderful drawing, just wondering which pastel pencils are the best for sharpening to a point. Are the faber castell pitt good

    • @zaratomsart
      @zaratomsart  2 года назад

      Thank you. For finer points Pitts are good as they're slightly harder lead than Carbothellos. But I use carbothellos and Pitts for fine details so both can achieve good points

    This is awesome. One thing that has prevented me from trying pastels is what to do with them after. I hear framing them us a pain vecause you need to put space between the drawing and the glass. Otherwise pastel may dislodge and stick to the glass. Do you have any videos on framing pastels? Thank you.

      I don't have a video on framing but the spacers between the mount/frame take seconds to put in. I don't use them on the frame but I do put a spacer at the bottom edge of the mount so that there is a slight 1-2mm gap at the bottom between the mouth and the paper. Then the mount prevents the glass touching the paper anyway =)

    Do you use pastelmat, if so where do you get it cheaper?

    • @zaratomsart
      @zaratomsart  2 года назад

      I do use Pastelmat. I find it's a similar price most places. Jacksons Art & Pullingers are the two places I buy from in the UK

      @@jumanas4012 paper plays a bug part in what level of realism can be achieved with pastels. Pastelmat has been the best paper by far that I've tried.

    Are the pitt pencils good to go on top of the derwnet pastel pencils because I have them

    • @zaratomsart
      @zaratomsart  2 года назад +1

      I use a mixture of Carbothello, Pitt, Derwent and Caran d'ache and they all work well together. I have never had an issue.
