Rakim should "at least be in the conversation" for the best rapper? buddy... Rakim is like the most obvious, safe pick for everyone from old heads that have been listening for decades to new fans that are into "real hip hop." Every rapper from the 90s and a lot of from the 00s have Ra on their Top 5 list, which means your average fan probably is familiar with how well regarded is the dude. I mean, no offense but you're not really breaking new ground.
Who said anything about breaking new ground? It's not like there's actually anything to really add to this conversation at this point in history. Does it really matter if someone goes over it again? Also, let's be 100% here, the phrase "real hip hop" is about as cringe & embarrassing as "real punk". None of this shit matters, dude.
Eric B. Is President actually changed rhyme schemes, objectively. Anything else is just personal opinion and preferences when it comes to these GOAT discussions. Nothing against them, makes for good material. Peace!
Rakim is in the conversation but truthfully he’s not better than krs one. There’s a lot of things you have to consider other then just lyricism. You have to consider longevity, swag, stage presence, impact, is he battle tested, voice, entrepreneurial ability, technique, creativity. Rakim is super dope but krs one wins in a lot of these categories so he gets the nod over ra. To be truthful ll cool j is the greatest rapper of all time. The list goes 1.cool j 2. Nas 3. Jay z 4. Krs one 5. Ice cube, rakim, or pac That 5th spot is up for grabs.

Your version of this story is not accurate!! If it wasn't for Ced-Gee from UltraMagnetic MC'S there would be no Boogie Down Productions. Scott nor Krs One never owned a drum machine. Ced-Gee owned and mastered the SP12 sampler and produced the "Criminal Minded" album. Even the Celebrity Three (Castle D., Jerry Levi 167, Krs One) demo was produced by Ced-Gee's brother Patrick Miller and Keyboard Money Mike.
There's a difference between Gangsta rap and hardcore rap here on the East coast it's hardcore rap Gangsta rap is west coast rap because they have actual gangs

KRS-ONE is definitely the GOAT of Rap music for MANY reasons; originality; lyrics, Rap styles; production, Live performances; cultural continuity, educational lessons, the United Nations, etc.... This is pretty good, however, there are TOO gaps in this story, especially the early years, he should've probably read, "My Brother's Name Is Kenny" by Kenny Parker, Kris' brother to get firsthand info.... overall I agree, obviously there is waaaay MORE to KRS-One than this video has time to cover, keep SHININ, Word!!😎✊
Correction... KRS-One is the Greatest "MC" of all time!! (You could make a strong case for Rakim, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick or LL Cool J) 🤔🤔
Wrong wrong wrong on the part that mc shan conceded defeat. They started doing shows together to make money and take the temperature down on the street. Then shortly after Scott was killed. Then on bdp second album which dropped in early 88, they put a song on there called, ya slippin. Which was a juice crew dis. The song was recorded before Scott passed cause he is on it. Like they had it on the shelf and they released it. Then shan recorded juice crew law dissing krs one and I pioneered this, which was for LL and KRS. It was supposed to drop in late spring of 88 on the album but cold chillin wanted to get Kane album out cause his single was hot. So shan agreed to have his album come after Kane. Born to be wild got pushed back to October of 88 which was an eternity in hip-hop age back then. By that time many listeners were not checking for shan anymore. And the masses never heard the shan reply records. Just saying all this to say that....shan didn't concede.

The Blast Master is hands down my pick for greatest of all time.

Okay this is in the book
Your channel is quite interesting, and I’m enjoying the ‘memory lane’ aspect. This one is a good one, thanks!!
Thanks!
He is the GOAT regardless. Don't nobody want that smoke in a battle, and his live show is untouchable
You seen him live lucky he is on my bucket list of artists to see
@siralexander1884 yeah I've seen him at least 12 + times from ny to VA. Nobody has a better stage show. Imo
I'm not a massive rap fan, but when I heard REM's radiosong you can tell how good he is
I think he is the greatest of all time.

Get the book ‘My brother name is Kenny’ by Kenny Parker , they did get kicked out several times but came back until KRS just didn’t

I wonder if and how the matter with Baambata ultimately ended...?
No charges were filed, it looks like. So it’s probably going to end the way these things typically do: a stain on his reputation but nothing more
i bet it's because of his philosphy.
