As a 1099 “employee” also my fault not knowing to open my own business EIN, have insurance, etc.. the tension between my employer and I got so intense that I was wrongfully fired and this video brings all the clarity that both parties need. I wanted to negotiate my prices and choose my schedule. Now I’m “unemployed” and was confused. Thank you for your clarity. Clarity is kindness. Off to be a real contractor now! 🥰
This is a great video! You are concise & to the point, & the video is less than 10 minutes long. I will look at the other resources you have provided but I am curious & hopeful when I ask this question; do you have a Reddit account or some other platform where people can ask questions & get your advice, as well as network with others in the janitorial community?
We are looking to hire another company to contract work. We own a small business doing the work ourselves and looking to add more units to grow the business. We only do short term rental vacation cleanings. We need to know what the average split should be? How does that work financially? A contarcter offered a 60/40 split in their favor and we are providing the linens, toiletries, bag packing ,delivering and stripping the beds. Contractor does just the cleaning. Thoughts?
Great information! Thanks. If i become a subcontractor of commercial cleaning services and floor stripping and waxing. We put our insurance, labor, tools, and products. The only thing that the contractor do it's meet up with the client and get the job. What will be a fair split ? Can you please give me an idea.
Just managing the account? How did they get the account in the first place? Do you know how much marketing costs? How about all liability being on the contractor, not the sub? Spoken like a person who's never owned a company before
There could be many reason for doing so. The first would be the lack of workforce or presence for an immediate contract outside of your geographical. Let's say a current client is expanding. Another could be that you don't want to have to pay the overhead costs that come with hiring W2 employees. These are just 2 examples as to why. I hope that helps!
Hope u can unsewr my question ??? Am small business and couple moths ago started sigh some offices contract from big cleaning companies they provide me the customer and provide insurance and from my side i hire a subcontractors providing them training and equipment and time to time supervising I get pay by cheque and i pay my subcontractors by Etransfer do i am in the right way like that or there is something that am not paying attention to it As am new in the field
You are mis-classifying the subcontractors. You can not train them and they should have their own equipment. You lose a lot of control using subcontractors. The fact that you are subcontracting from a big company and then turning around and subcontracting the work to another company leaves little or no profit. Get your own accounts and make sure you hire legal subcontractors. The IRS is very clean on this.

Why hire a Sub Contractor company instead of hiring your own employees to do the work?
