    I really like the idea of setting the bar high and the way you have explained to do it. Also, very important to advise the customer of someone different turning up for the job. It is not good finding out after the fact.

    We always tell our clients if we are subcontracting. We know the ppl we subcontract out so it's usually all good. We will inspect after because all our cleans are along 30A.

      I love this. And there is something valuable about transparency both with the customer and the contractor. It shows that you all trust each other and have each other's best interests in mind.

    i had a client ask me NOT to use my floor care brand on her floors cuz she was sensitive to smells. she wanted me to use ONLY VINEGAR. I did as she asked but I HATE the smell of vinegar. and I have to scrub x2 as hard. blast I hated that gig.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +3

      Oh no. I'm sorry you had that happen. You say that in past tense like "I had a client, I hated that gig" which makes me hope it is a job in the past. LOL. I have one weird question though (and it's okay if you don't have an answer...) but if one is sensitive to smells... how is vinegar okay?

      @@AskAngelaBrown I had tossed that around in my own head but I find it better not to question the hand that feeds me.

    Thank you for answering my question Angela. I noticed the link you have for knowing the difference between employees vs independent contractor, page says not found once I click on it.
    I was not sure if you covered this, but how is the estimate done for the walk through when you’re using a sub contractor? I’m not always available to do the walk through myself. Do I discuss and have the payment set up based on the customers needs beforehand ?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +2

      Thanks TJ for the heads up on the broken link. Here is a new paid link: amzn.to/3CLMrg6 - Knowing the Difference between Employees vs. Independent Contractor | Often when Amazon sells out of a product they turn the page off until they are in stock again, so people don't buy stuff they know they can't deliver. Great questions too about the job estimates, I'll make you a video.

    Because I as a customer, hired a cleaner/cleaning company and have subsequently established the trust which is especially important because they are coming to my home, not a commercial establishment, I would skip that day of cleaning day rather than accept a new, independent contractor.

    • @jnbond
      @jnbond 2 года назад +1

      I too have known people who would rather prefer to skip that cleaning , due to it being a “stranger/someone unfamiliar” to them, trust/security issues (even though the new person/s come highly recommended) which should be considered for sure.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +3

      Good Point Denise. Quick question. Suppose the independent contractor used to work for the cleaning company and was someone you know who had been in your home already and had met you, your family and your pets? (We do this a lot with employees who break out on their own and start their own cleaning companies - but fill in when we are short staffed.) Does that change anything for you or would you still skip the cleaning?

    • @denisearonow4921
      @denisearonow4921 2 года назад +1

      @@AskAngelaBrown, that would be completely different. If I were told who it was, I would welcome someone with whom I'd had a good experience.

    Hi, great video!
    Could you tell about how to work it out with cleaning equipment, please? Who is gonna have it?
    I think about providing my cleaners with allthe neccessary things to be shure they will clean it perfectly, but in the same time not sure when they are without a car, how will they carry everything, especially a vacuum? How correctly to orginize this operation and if a customer doesn't have a vaccum to use, for example? Kinda big question for me.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  Год назад +1

      Are we talking about subcontracting? If you use independent contractors, you do not provide company vehicles, uniforms, cleaning supplies, insurance or training. You are hiring an existing business owner who runs their own business and provides those things for themselves. Does that make sense?

      Judy, Here is a video on how to find a good house cleaner: ruclips.net/video/J8SPZPaRCgo/видео.html
      Sometimes cleaners and organizers work together on projects and your house cleaner may be able to recommend someone. Keep me posted on how the search goes!

    My husband and I are retiring this year and I want to sell my cleaning business. Maybe start another one somewhere else? How do I go about evaluating what my small business is worth to get a fair price for it?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +1

      Hopefully you've got all your systems in place, and documented, along with your tax records so you can get a fair evaluation. I don't know where you live, but here is a place to start the evaluation process: www.synergybb.com/should-i-sell-my-company-myself-or-hire-a-business-broker/
      and they will guide you through whether or not to sell yourself or hire a broker. (The broker will know all the legal forms you will need, and how to get the highest price for your business - but they will also get a commission much like a realtor who sells your home.)

    I have employees who have extremely long nails. Long nails may break the glove and reduce the productivity. Can I ask them to trim nails to appropriate length?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 года назад +2

      If they are your employees you can include short nails in the dress code, but reinforcing it will be a chore and a constant source of pushback. This is an issue where you'll need to pick your battles. If long nails is a regular complaint and it is slowing employees down, you may want to change the pay plan from hourly to house. This way they are paid and rewarded on productivity. The long or short nails becomes their issue, not yours. Does that make sense?

    I probably do not have the money to hire this service, but what if it is a low income apartment complex and you need help cleaning dust and base boards, a bit of advice on keeping your stuff organized. :( I need help with cleaning up my little apartment. It is not terrible, but I am embarrassed about it, and I do have a cat so it smells like litter no matter how much I try and make the smell go away. I am also going through depression.
