@rajshamani Please do a podcast with students who are currently studying/working abroad, then you will know the real challenges not with these consulting people
Bhai i studied in Canada, I did research under a professor from MIT and instructed in core subjects by google brain professional. I don't doubt professors from IIT are great but it was easier for me to get access to quality education but spent 40 Laks (along with scholarship). I know working there I will recover this money spent. As for personal development, living on my own helped me learn to manage expenses, doing all my chores, and managing mental and physical health. Furthermore, I connected with people from dozens of countries. For me it was a good decision and I do realize it might not be the same for everyone because there are struggles.
Jo bacchhe India me competitive exam clear nahi kar pate and financially strong hote hai wo abroad jate hai, baki private college try karte hai , rest drop lete hai ya family business join karte hai
you know nothing about education ! IIT and DU are trade schools who look for ratta race , while harvard and MIT look for talent that’s why they give more billionaires and higher edge on value to degree , IIT kids have little to no personality to debate knowledge , you are one of those indian aunts categorising education while being a high school pass out
i dont GREE FULLY BROTHER. Like just get into more detail. Its hidden in your opinion only that "Those who didnt crack the competitive exam" . Have you seen the reason for that??? Thats coz no. of students is increasing and although govt. is working to reach a level to support education and Uni to all students it will take time. So thats an Obviouus transition going to this way.
I'm an Indian doctor & you are wrong. Competitive exams have reservations, whereas studying abroad needs skills, portfolio, networking, finance planning. Moreover, India is not safe (we doctors getting beaten, killed)
True Fact: This is a paid/sponsored podcast. Its totally a family decision however, please do not burn your finances in debt (Karje mein mt rho). Unemployment is higher in majority of Countries Abroad .
True…. Don’t influence your opinions on youtubers and influencers cause every family has different set of problems and responsibilities… do your study thoroughly for any future decision
Reservation 🥱kab tak rote rahoge is logic pr. Paper out karane kya reservation wale aate hein. Saari study system kharab kr di hein corruption krke, fir rote hein reservation ko lekar
Yes very true especially doctors, due to reservation system most of the general category candidates didn't get government medical college and then they study from private and go to us,Australia, Europe, for residency even most of the aiims delhi students go abroad and settle there and that's the reason for scarcity of good doctors, because imagine people getting 200 and 300 marks in neet out of 720 getting government medical college and general category students even after scoring 600 cannot get a seat because 60% seats are reserved toh aise doctors kidney hi bechenge na,I mean most of the general category people opt for foreign country for residency and there in USA more than 50% doctors are Indian 😢this is the reality of Indian education system 😢😭
Indian education like Intensive Cramming Courses are the problem. All parents want their children to become Doctors to lift them out of poverty and ppl with money still leave India for a better life/the regressive Mindset of dowries/Cursed Caste system.
Education is objectively better in the west. Undergraduate programs even at a mid tier uni in the US is absolutely brutal. IIT might, and I'm only saying might, be equivalent to mid tier unis quality. So even if you are going because of "trend", that's ok; you will still learn a lot.
What an insightful and engaging video, Raj Sahmani! Your thoughtful discussion on abroad education with University Living's guest was incredibly informative. It's wonderful to see a balanced perspective, highlighting both the pros and cons. This will undoubtedly help many students make well-informed decisions about their educational futures. Keep up the fantastic work!
Why are you comparing rent of india and canada other countries. It’s different currency brother with different purchasing power. Doesn’t make any sense
I really want to appreciate that you know you your audience really well.. and you make podcast on topics that will be helpful. .just wanted to drop an thank you.. I usually don't comment but you deserved this
it was good but there is scope for improvement in the room you should mention the tier 1 and 2 college names and what type of job one can expect specifically talking about MBA in abroad like in-depth analysis or deep-down analysis of all major universities and job roles
Being a general category studying and getting a job in India is kind a horrendous experience for many of us. That’s why major students are taking a brave step to moving out from this sh*t system.
The main reason why maharashtrian students leave India to study abroad is reservations to never come back even to work here due to same reason. Bitter truth.
I live in Vancouver, and $1200 will only get you a single room with shared spaces and if you go downtown it’s at least $2000, 1BHK in Vancouver is $2800, this guy has no idea what he’s talking a about 😂

I have been into tech hiring for more than 10 years and 6 years into non IT hiring... I have never seen any company giving more importance to an average international college student. It doesn't make sense. The interviewer will judge what the candidate brings on the table. It doesn't matter if you have a graduation degree from an Indian college or a foreign college. It does make a difference at masters level but not at undergraduate level for sure.
Raj there is a person named Tariq Ahmad . He is VP of sales in a startup and has huge experience. Why dont u get someone like him or maybe him to talk about sales as a profession. What high and lows sales person feels. How woman sales professional feel so much challenge after having a child. I am talking about software/services sales❤
Studying abroad during under graduation is mostly for those who have lots of inherited money and can't get into the prestigious institutes here. Accept the hard fact.
Nice episode, Raj. Very informative. Thanks. Would like to hear these guys speak about on campus hooliganism, Racism outside and inside campus. How they are treated and included in all societal aspects. Do students stay there only for money or they feel good about life in general there ?
The rent in dublin for a 1bhk is more than most of the cities they mentioned. Central dublin would cost you around 1800euros (1,60,000 INR) at least for a 1bhk.
Raj allow the experts to speak if you invite them we need there expertise this has been very much into your podcast pls allow your guest to speak more that's basic of podcast mate

Kindly bring guest who can gelp in guiding/connecting with off campus recruiters especially in INVESTMENT BANKING. *WE NEED MORE OF MADE IN INDIA - AJAY BANGA'S* Help with genuine recruiters connect with IIM students who have taken loans and are working hard. I happened to have visited some of these so-called leading universities of Noida as a part of the campus placement team way back in 2012-13. As mentioned here students end up paying about 30 lakhs for those MBA degrees. These universities normally provide admission to them who can pay that much. Students are not much intelligent/ capable. Trust me our plan was to select 30 and we just ended up having about 5 because to us they were of the quality whom we just can not employ.
Raj , this was a great topic you covered. As im going to UK this September. As i have paid a bigger amount on ROI for study loan , what was said on the podcast was different , then the expense rate of Average living was different. Its more than that in real life .
Bhai, much love from Indore 🫶🏻 and appreciate you for covering this topic. Bus ek request h ki beech beech m hoshiyari mt pela kro or jisko bolne k liye bulaya usko bolne do. Baki ap hoshiyar ho.
I have been living in abroad and have moved between different countries in Europe. Fortunately I never spent any penny of education abroad. When I connect with my friends who choose to study here are struggling to be honest. There are lots of cases specially in Europe where people pursue their education and struggle to get any relevant experience and now they have to repay their loans. job market is anyways better in US but the exposure they are talking about even for the mid tier college is not so true. as many of my friends in US told me that more than 80% of their classmates where Indians 😅 it could be even more in some cases (this is specific for masters) so please be aware if you want to travel, earn some money and travel to different countries before making any expensive decision. I still believe the though competition in India helps us to improve and when you learn to handle that you become valuable to the entire world. I have studied from a tier 3 college in India with no placement @rajshamani you did an amazing podcast and somehow I feel you also felt why the guests where painting the narration of studying abroad
I believe Raj should have asked more questions about how students can reach out to the University Living team from abroad during last-minute housing chaos.
Don't blame reservation! corruption is responsible for this, the unplanned city is responsible, the government not promoting research work, casteism is responsible for this, people keep saying tu janta hai mere baap ko? In fact, in a foreign country it does not matter if the parents are from a powerful background, parents ask their children to leave the house once turned 18 years old and they have to work hard and leave on their own, not like you blaming everyone else!
Why do Indians 3rd largest Migrants in the world always want education/job opportunities in Christian West? Control Breeding factories a better solution.
Lifetime Achievement: Never ever force someone to study abroad if he or she is not willing to! because these are the people who have spread misunderstanding; hate & jealousy about foreigners or my people! 😢😢
Good one, please try to cover, which are the courses one can go for in different countries for better job opportunities, and is it better to go after 12th or after graduation
Bro reservation shi hai but usme aur bhi implementation Krna chaiye mere hisab se kyuki zaroorat mand logo ko reservation milni chaiye but kuch galat logo k wajhe se naam kharab hota hai jaise ek mera frnd hai usko maine pucha tha ki wo kitna laana chatha hai to wo bola tha ki usko koi tension nhi hai wo reserved category mai aata hai waise mindset Wale logo k wajhe se reservation galat lgta hai but ground reality ye bhi hai ki zarooratmand logo ko bhi reservation milta hai
Bhai reservation caste se hatake low poverty line valo ko dena chahiye kyuki aaj ke samaya mai paise vala kisi bhi caste ka ho sabki bohot izaat hai @@Narendradani2024
Moving abroad is still a better option for Indian students than just working for 20-30k here, the trick is to either work for couple of years or gain skills which are needed in those countries before moving there!! Even as a student working part time we will save more money abroad and with some luck and hardwork you will get more opportunities
Many of my below average Undergrad classmates went abroad taking a loan because they wouldn’t get a decent job in India not because of unemployment but because they knew NOTHING and were not willing to work for it but somehow are happy working at a restaurant for 20 dollars an hour .
Raj - I like your podcasts... Can you try something on higher education for special children... There is no focused content on this subject and your research and discussion with right people could be very helpful for many parents
Bro please make a podcast with a corporate lawyer and ask corporate lawyer always travel in foreign countries and law have global opportunity without passing the bar. brother please make video on this because some people in india like law but some people say that indian law doesn't have global opportunity so please tell us corporate lawyer go to foreign countries for company work
Hi Raj, I found the episode really helpful and insightful. I have a suggestion for a future topic: Could you consider doing an episode on pursuing jobs in international markets? Specifically, it would be great to explore opportunities for professionals who have studied in India or their home country and are looking to transition to overseas roles after gaining mid-level experience locally.
This video is just mind blowing nd amazing 😍❤. Thanks for this such informative nd knowledgeable video❤ this podcast helps Indian youth for abroad studies❤

Lots of information about Canada is incorrect. While Vancouver have higher rent , the cost of living in Vancouver and Toronto is same . Punjabis started coming to Canada even before Indian independence and are now active in politics as well . The second language in Canada is not Punjabi, Canada has 2 official languages, English and French . I live in GTA and the city I live,I hardly see any Punjabi here , the area has many Tamilians (from Srilanka ) as major Desi demographics . The housing crisis has a lot to do with increase in mortgage rates. The rates were about 1 % at 2020, increasing the housing rates , now it’s more than 6 . Decreasing the buying power and housing supply
This came right on time! I am going to UK this year and have been second guessing my decision due to a lot of mixed reviews available all over the internet. Just a big thank you for this
Here are my unfiltered observations after completing my undergrad in the U.S. - 1. The myth of American education is better than India: False. American universities are better equipped with resources and infrastructure, but this doesn't mean they educate their students well. U.S. curriculum is much easier and exams really don't test your knowledge. I've had professors basically map out what to study for in exams and only those topics were tested. It was nothing mentally challenging. 2. Professors quality: A lot of CS students just watched RUclips videos from Indian professors explaining concepts clearly in the U.S. That is the quality of professors that are supposed to teach your higher education classes. I was in for a shocker when I realized my Indian teachers taught wayyyyyyy better than the best American professor. I'm sorry but I cannot sugarcoat this. I spent the majority of my education self-teaching because it was an utter waste of time attending classes where the professor just read off their PPTs. Only few professor really taught me engineering. These were usually the professors who were notorious for being tough in the department (often from foreign countries) and didn't fall for the whims of students. Self-teaching becomes the norm and you expecting professors to actually teach will make you look stupid. 3. Coursework: This is a positive and a negative. I mentioned coursework is not mentally challenging but this doesn't mean its easy. The course load is very high. I have on an average 6 assignments per week continously throughout the semester. So your work itself may not be that challenging but the number of things you need to submit may be difficult. More than actual coursework, I learned time management. Sounds like a victory but I truly turned insane trying to stay on top of things. My health was a mess, lost a parent, finances were looking hopeless, assignments were piling but I had no excuse to give, no sympathy because life is hard for everyone. 4. Friendships: I was in undergrad and majority of my interactions were with Americans. While this is a plus - I quickly started to miss my roots. There's often a language barrier, a cultural barrier. Majority of conversations with local friends were very surface level. Coming from India where even a first interaction with stranger could become invasive and you will not question it, this dance of being careful on not asking personal questions was new to me. It's a cultural thing. Some people may like it some people don't. I didn't. I find that people in America prioritize money above everything else. Conversations go on about who has the most stress at work. Work this work that. My friend offered me money to walk her dog outside for a day and my Indian brain was utterly confused. I like money too but like I thought we were friends?? 5. Life is mundane: You graduate, you get a job, it pays you decently. Chances are you don't live in the expensive cities. You may have less of a social life than in India. There are not too many problems in your vicinity. Everything is very comfortable. You have AC, electricity, water, car, decent grocery, work is good, life is peaceful. You get used to having an obstacle-less life. Your problems become first world problems. 6. Internships & part-times: This was something I loved. The ability to work part-time throughout college was a blessing. I interacted with different kinds of people daily while also building creative, technical skills. Hanging out at on-campus clubs and organizations was also so fun. Getting internships and having something to put on my resume and learn industry skills was all A++. I could make money and manage my finances pretty young which I wish becomes very very very common for students in India in the coming future. So, this is a mixed bag. Did I love it? No, it's more bitter-sweet. Did I grow as a person? A lot. My biggest growth was a gain in confidence levels and believing in myself more. My biggest regret - I should've done master's instead of undergrad here. I perhaps was too early and I've seen the glory and ugly. The spark for U.S. as a brand is gone. I have started appreciating so many things about India and really have come to embrace the good and the bad parts. I've realized I don't want comfort, I want freedom and autonomy in my life. Something a U.S. visa cannot give me long term. This may not be a top level summary, it's a more subjective perspective. I hope someone gets a different POV from my rant.
As a student abroad, i can tell you that Raj you didn’t ask right questions. This podcast could have been a lot better. I think you asked questions from your bubble of experiences. But more research should have been done by you and your team to make this podcast useful for listeners. Also, the podcast like these or the one you did with traya, where you promote their businesses, are these paid episodes? Do the right thing and be transparent about it!!
I think nowadays, people research about universities and countries for higher education. I have seen students from IITs and private universities research first about the ranking of universities, courses they provide, professors no., Research & Development and many other things. They see how is the country as a whole. Dont just think about students who are going after 12th and they just want to go to a different country and do any course. These students just want to move out of India. There are top-notch universities in The US and the UK and Yes Europe as a whole is a great option but also the course plays a crucial role. There are chances that the university is very good but the course you are choosing is not that good. It is important to find a university which is good for your course and the ranking of the university also matters. And another thing, very less no. of students have funds available. Most of them take a study loan which can vary from 20 L - 55 L for masters course and 25 L - 80 L for Bachelors course. It is simple and the truth is that if you are going to a good University abroad and pursuing a good course. There are good chances that you will earn 50 L - 70 L after your studies abroad. Same if you studying in India then you will earn somewhere between 10 L - 25 L after masmaster'sso if you have graduated from a top university in India.
Please don't go abroad now considering current times. Times have changed, freshers are getting paid better than compared to the payscale offered 3-4 years ago. I personally live abroad, the struggle is real in terms of finding accommodation, cost of living, jobs and many more. In fact there's no international exposure, the majority (99%) of batch size will consist of Indian students. Avoid this consultancy firms, they are biggest scammer, where they will preach you in the name of top university and they have tie ups student accommodations that eventually charge €1000 + for monthly rental. Additionally, University will pay 1-2 lakhs per student( to this so caller Study Abroad Counsellor)if candidate has successfully enrolled for the university course. So the bottom line is that countries like US, Australia , Ireland, etc have become saturated and it's better to stay & work in india looking at current growth in india. Don't put yourself under financial burden by investing 40+ lakes rupees for further education.
the guests aren’t caring a balanced view about the study abroad experience. Kindly pls keep your consistency on the quality of guests. The questions were relevant but the answers are just on their business model
It depends on the individual mindsets, earning isn't related to education, people will earn if they have hunger to earn with decent education.... If someone wants to settle abroad then it matters to study abroad. 17:43

Trust me dude in the US right now the job market situation is horrible, there is Americans first concept only citizens are being considered for jobs, barely anyone is sponsoring visa, Things have completely changed after covid. If you have a good life or a stable job in India stay there. We took a hefty amount of education loan and couldn't even pay off and the visa is ending...RETHINK if you are considering the US for masters. If you are a millionaire in India and don't care about losing money then welcome to US life, come and spend enjoy

Raj, I must say.....your questions are mind blowing 🎉 this is called the detailed conversation. In my view: changing our own attitude and perspective can take us to the new heights 🎉
I have watched documentaries showing how students after going abroad can't find jobs and be homeless. In my opinion only the rich are supposed to go abroad unless there's scholarships from top universities.
Feedback for the Future People on the Show: Yelog charge nahi karte. From where they get their money/ how they make money (they did not reveal it). Secondly, When going and studying abroad, and waha job karne lage, for example, Germany mai, STEM mai kitni salary milti hai per month, per year? Avg salary? Tax rate kitna hai? Tax rate cut ke kitna milega haath mai paisa.? Kitna ghar bhej sakte hai? We might have our own dreams after studying abroad, ghar banana, car khareedna etc. wo dreams kaise fulfil kar sakte hai. uture people on the show can focus on this aspect.
As long as million quota system will exist in India children of general category will have no option other than applying for foreign universities. Anyways, parents are also not ready to send their children to learn from quota professors. Indian education system will anyhow collapse in coming 20 years . There's a difference between poor meritorious student and a cast oriented dull student. Quota in higher education is ridiculous indeed!!!!!!!

Exactly. Probably should make a podcast with actual students who have been there. But it's still okay we could know different perspectives from everyone
Ask me, I've studied in the US for my graduate program - MS, albeit 15 years go, still follow similar trends in international education
Exactly.. this podcast is soo discriminated.. most of the fact are just the bright side .. be didn't tell a single negative part
How can you say that? That's completely illogical. Without the help of consultancies, students can directly go to Harvard or Massachusetts... right...consultancies are are stopping them to go there? Are you serious

And which mid US university and IIT you studied from to gather this information??

What an insightful and engaging video, Raj Sahmani! Your thoughtful discussion on abroad education with University Living's guest was incredibly informative. It's wonderful to see a balanced perspective, highlighting both the pros and cons. This will undoubtedly help many students make well-informed decisions about their educational futures.

Raj, I have no intrest in this topic but i still watched the whole podcast just got attracted by your research and questions.

I have studied from a tier 3 college in India with no placement
@rajshamani you did an amazing podcast and somehow I feel you also felt why the guests where painting the narration of studying abroad

The bottom line is wherever you study whether abroad or India if skill sets are enhanced within you then no body will stop the growth.
Moving abroad is still a better option for Indian students than just working for 20-30k here, the trick is to either work for couple of years or gain skills which are needed in those countries before moving there!! Even as a student working part time we will save more money abroad and with some luck and hardwork you will get more opportunities

Reservation in india is one of the reasons.
The private University fee is very high in india.

Here are my unfiltered observations after completing my undergrad in the U.S. -
Who want Tania ( taniazworld ) with Raj in podcast
India mein education pe 18% tax hai FIR education abroad ke price jaisa ho jata hai isliye log sochte Hain abroad chale ja
