2000, parents had an ugly divorce. This song spoke to my soul at that time. When I hear it today, it takes me back. Laying in my bed, blasting this on repeat, crying my eyes out, feeling alone. It's honestly one of the things that helped me make it through all the bullshit at the time. The entire Infest album. Thank you Papa Roach.

    Broken home, all alone
    Broken home, all alone
I can't seem to fight these feelings
I'm caught in the middle of this
And my wounds are not healing
I'm stuck in between my parents
I wish I had someone to talk to
    Someone I could confide in
I just want to know the truth
I just want to know the truth
    Want to know the truth!
    Broken home
    All alone
I know my mother loves me
But does my father even care?
    If I'm sad or angry
    You were never ever there
    When I needed you
I hope you regret what you did
I think I know the truth
Your father did the same to you
    Did the same to you!
I'm crying day and night now
    What is wrong with me?
    I cannot fight now
I feel like a weak link
    Crying day and night now
    What is wrong with me?
    I cannot fight now
I feel like a weak link
    (Push it back inside) 4X
    A weak link
    Broken home, all alone
It feels bad to be alone
Crying by yourself living in a broken home
    How could I tell it?
So all y'all could feel it
Depression strikes hard just like my old earth would tell it
To me, her son, she told me I'm the one
Pain bottled up, 'bout to blow like a gun
    Stories that I tell
    Are nonfiction
And you can't take it back 'cause it's already done
    BROKEN HOME! BROKEN HOOOOME!
Can't seem to fight these feelings
Caught in the middle of this
    My wounds are not healing
    Stuck in between my parents
    BROKEN HOME! BROKEN HOOOOME!

Even though this song was depressing as fuck, it was real, sincere and raw emotion. It gave us a way to confront, express and deal with our pain which ultimately leads to healing. The youth of today however have to deal with bands who talk about materialistic bullshit and encourage us to ignore and suppress our pain instead of exposing and dealing with it. Thank you Papa Roach, a real band singing about real issues, I hope this music reaches the kids who need to hear it, this is raw music from the heart.

      *****
There's an amusing sense of irony in taking the time to say no one cares.
You could have spent that time thinking
"Well hang on, people have thumbed up his comment so clearly some relate, so just making this comment makes it look like my brain is better served as the starting block for a gelatin mold."
But more than that - There's something about the people who feel the need to insult the people they deem to be vulnerable online that gives a good sense of what a sick narcissist you are.
      AND THEN there is this little gem of logic right here;
"oh will you please just shut the fuck up"
Commenting this after three weeks without any comments.
      That screams
"PLEASE NOTICE HOW ANGRY AND ANGSTY I AM MARC, PLEASE COME BACK AND GIVE ME THE ATTENTION I NEED SO I FEEL LIKE MY LIFE IS WORTH SOMETHING"
So today I humour you. I hope you live in the UK.

Hold one hand up infront of you.
    *Those are your problems.
Now move your hand up close to your face.
See how you can't see what is ahead of you? How big your problems are?
    You're too close.
Now have your friend do the same. His problems seems more overwhelming to him than yours.
But to you they are small.
And your problems to him appear small.

You know the part that sucks? You don’t even have to be a product of a bad marriage to be from a broken home. Your parents could have had you in your teens, were together for a very brief period of time… go their separate ways but due to both having their own sets of problems… they destroy your well being, your mental health… everything that you are.
Some of us rise above in a variety of ways and others… just like Jacoby said… repeat the cycle. They can say they didn’t know any better… which I absolutely refuse to believe.
We all carry that trauma with us through out our lives. They definitely remember what it was like being little and scared of their mom, or their dad, or even both. They could choose to look at their little one and decide: “I’m not going to be like my parents…” and get help. Any kind of help.

This song hits way too close to home... I grew up with split parents. My dad trying the best that he could, but was rarely there for me to turn to. But just to be raised by an abusive, alcoholic stepfather with my mother not stepping in. I saw Papa Roach last night and just broke down in a corner while they played this song.. Looking back at my childhood and adolescence, I still wonder how life would be if my childhood had never happened the way it did. Fate took it's tool, and now I'm stuck here being 22 years old with low self esteem and manic depression... crazy life we live in.

I know exactly what you feel man. I'm 24, and I still am suffering from depression, due to how i grew up with my parents split up, always fighting, talking shit on each other, while I was put in the middle. I won't lie to you and say it gets better, because it hasn't. Some days are better than others but I just try to take it day by day.

    • @alexstarovereem

We'll it's got better for me because of forgivesness and losing my ego, which is only possible if you raise your consciousness level. Take a look at David Hawkins map of consciousness online, or better yet read his book. I remember Korn on MTV I think it was saying it get's better so hang in there, so I did. Try counting your blessings, always works for me. Somebody out there always has it worse than you or I.

Lets all just admit that we all can relate to this song. Weather your parents are split or together, theirs always something in the household that causes you pain. Weather its your father being a drunk or your parents arguing constantly. You just have to deal with it and move on. But most importantly, you shouldn't do the same thing when you have kids or its just going to cause them a tramatic childhood too. Do whats right and forget & forgive.

This breaks my heart for all of you forgotten children. Parents dont seem to think about the small ones they have witnessing all of this while they are torturing each other. I'm so sorry, I hope you all learn to feel again. You have to feel before you heal. And you are so important and beautiful. Say it to yourself "I am important, I matter, I am beautiful." Its just the end of the beginning. Not the end. Stay strong, love.

This songs is my household theme songs for all of these years. Grew up with a abusive and alcohol dad. I use to watch as he would drink and beat my mom and yell everyday.. almost never had an hour without yelling. His dad taught him to be the way he was and he could never get out of that cycle of abuse.. Even now while he doesn't live with us, my mom always yells and drinks. She likes to pick at any little self esteem I have and try to destroy me.. Papa roach helps that anger and pain drain out with this song and I'm happy for that. Without healthily getting out those horrible feelings, idk where I'd be.
