Excellent tutorial. Clearest and most concise I've seen to date. I appreciate how you popped out the MCD screens and displayed charts so I could see exactly what you were talking about.
Man, you're my hero on RUclips. I do actually learned some things wrongly watching even experienced simmers doing some mistakes. Your pace is fast, but if someone does know more or less the basics, it's actually easy to follow (just pause and rewind as required). I'm just studying for my PPL, but flying the pmdg as leisure. Keep the good work! If ever you setup some sort patreon or donation, I would contribute!

This is the most informative, concise, and useful channel I have found out there about the NGX. It's take a lot of effort and perfect skills to explain professional stuff to amateur enthusiasts. Well done and thank you. I hop you do once a video about the Radio panel in the NGX. IT's so confusing sometimes.
Another excellent tutorial. I am soon to start my commercial 737 simulator instructor course. All your videos have helped immensely. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your tutorial, very helpful, and I especially like the comments about how the FMC does or does not behave like the real one. I trust PMDG did the best they could but there are obviously simism as we call them at my work.
Hi Ram, PMDG, for what is essentially an entertainment product, is a study level standard product and incredibly realistic. It of course has "simisms" but so do the real world procedural trainers. You really need a Level D sim (and a few million in the bank to buy one) to match the real aircraft! FD2S.
Hi Chris! Check out my NPA tutorial in my Approach Playlist, you can use the same technique to fly an NDB approach! ruclips.net/video/qMYzXB6nb_I/видео.html FD2S
Hello capt, thank you for your great videos. Would you kindly make one tutorial about waypoint creation, let’s say you’ve been instructed to make a hold at a specific way point and you just find that you have bad weather there, in that case you have to hold on a different radial from a different Navaid or way point. Thank you captain
At 05:40 when the turn for the outbound leg started, I see that the plane used a 30 degree bank angle and kept it for the rest of the turn. Would that normally happen in reality as well? Or is it a PMDG thing? ICAO suggests that the bank angle is 25 degrees and you've entered the holding 10 knots slower than the max IAS of 230 for that altitude. So it's quite surprising to use 30 degrees *and* overshoot the plotted racetrack as you've noted. 🙂
Thanks a lot! You're probably aware but I uploaded a tutorial last month showing you some useful techniques for the FMC! ruclips.net/video/jToPSTPYAmg/видео.html Hopefully you'll find it useful! FD2S
flightdeck2sim I did thanks but there is just so much to learn and I'd enjoy a few tutorials on advanced FMC techniques on custom waypoints,ATO PBD, fixes, use of radials climb/descent pages etc !
Once again, thank you for an amazing tutorial sir! I was wondering would you do an turn around tutorial? I gernally land the plane and want to take off back but I dont know the correct procedure. For example, does the APU stay on etc
Thank you very much sir, I appreciate all the work you put in to these videos. Maybe one day you will do another full flight with parts will be amazing :) A short one will be better of course for you :D also if you can add a part where you pretend that there is ATC and they are vectoring you where you update the FMC and do the best VNAV approach as well so we can have perfect CDA :)
Would be good actually :) I’m guessing it all depends on how long the turn around will be and whether ground power will be available or not after all no point burning up fuel with the APU unnecessarily
ItsRageYT I'll try and incorporate a turnaround into a tutorial soon, perhaps joining me at the beginning of the Approach so I can squeeze in a CDA. Quiet busy at the moment but request has not been forgotten! FD2S
Hi Kieran, We always (if available) get a GPU so we can shut off the APU during the turnaround, more due to punitive noise fines then saving fuel! FD2S
Great video again! Thanks! Just a quick question still. What are the procedures with multiple aircrafts in the same holding. Do they have 1000ft separation? And are they stacked up in a way that the lowest one automatically exit?
Just tried to fly a holding pattern. All things set, flying to the waypoint but can't enable hold. When i select course or leg it state "Invalid Entry" all the time. Flying xplane with ZIBO 737...thanks for any tip
flightdeck2sim thanks for your reply again👍🏻. Yes that’s what i did. Because i saw that vnav couldn’t be enabled as well, I think that i did do something wrong in the setup of the fmc in the first place with the startup. Will figure it out and try again with normal flight.
Hi Flightdeck2sim. Could make video for arrivel requaring to enter to the holding pattern at the airport. For example EVRA where is the last point of STAR is VOR and the should enter to holding and then to ILS.

Hi K.S. Flightsim. It's not terribly common but it really depends what the weather is like, where you're going and and what time you go! Would it be a case of leaving the hold on the FMC and using vertical speed and altitude hold to punch in descents ?
Sort of! You are only "stacked" at really busy airports, you can be cleared for the Approach at any point. If you descend in the hold you would generally use V/S to descend as efficiently as possible, the aircraft would automatically transition to ALT HLD reaching the MCP cleared altitude. FD2S
I don't know how you got on a holding tutorial with a parking break question : I think the problem you are having is because you did not remove the chocks via the FMC. The reason and the solution is all explained in details in the introduction document from PMDG.
Hi FRD, Just FSX Steam on my mediocre Laptop, nothing fancy! I will perhaps invest in a new PC. (I really don't know much about add-ons and things like that!) FD2S
Is it possible with the NGX to simulate actual stacking, so you say enter Abott at 9000 then hold but get the aircraft to lower to 6000 while performing the hold pattern?
Many thanks for that, I use a couple of pay ware atc programs and they only ever seem to have me hold at the lowest altitude rather than dropping down through the hold Paul

I climbed in hold few times because climb performance was insufficient to overfly mountains nearby. Should't be problem with an airliner though.
Yeah. It makes a lot of sense to do.

Hi Everytime when i spawn i cant remove parkingbrake i try everything and when i spawn me engine gone off hope you can help me
I don't know how you got on a holding tutorial with a parking break question : I think the problem you are having is because you did not remove the chocks via the FMC. The reason and the solution is all explained in details in the introduction document from PMDG.
Thanks a lot Ram!

Hi FRD,
Just FSX Steam on my mediocre Laptop, nothing fancy! I will perhaps invest in a new PC. (I really don't know much about add-ons and things like that!)

Apologies, found it hidden under a down arrow !
Is it possible with the NGX to simulate actual stacking, so you say enter Abott at 9000 then hold but get the aircraft to lower to 6000 while performing the hold pattern?
Hi Paul,
In the real aircraft you would just simply descend to a lower altitude when cleared by ATC, there is no stacking function per se!

Many thanks for that, I use a couple of pay ware atc programs and they only ever seem to have me hold at the lowest altitude rather than dropping down through the hold

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I do have a question, I am flying with the Zibo mod and I am practicing holding patterns while descending following a STAR. My question is when exiting the hold, I press exit hold and then Zibo maintains the speed that it had during the holding, which makes the remaining of the descend pretty slow. How do I proceed to accelerate again if I want to keep VNAV on? Or do I need to press spd intv and control the speed myself for the remaining of the descend? Thank you for your help and I hope the question is not too confusing!
