Real Bout 2 is my second favorite Fatal Fury game, we'll see if that changes when COTW releases.
Real Bout really had this wacky Saturday Morning Cartoon Vibe (tm) that few games have even came close to.

As someone with limited vision, I can say i find this very helpful, as not a lot of people do this where the orally cover endings.
Hon Fu is my favorite character and Real Bout 2 is my favorite Fatal Fury Game.
Mai's RB2 ending imo was hilarious.
Since Real Bout 2 lacked any story elements I always took it as a filler arc with characters getting into random scrapes.

When I had FF Battle Archives Vol 2 for PS2, I used to play RB FF 2 a lot- & actually LOL at some of the endings!
I love the game announcer BTW. Too bad he was only used to RB FF Special & this one.

This is my favorite game, but the endings are really lackluster. It seems SNK focused more on multi-player since the game is really balanced for the most part. FF3 has the best story imo. So much dialogue.
In my opinion Real Bout 2 is semi canon.
In other words, some events that happened in this Dream Match game are canon.
For example, Chonrei training under Tung and the Pao Pao Cafe on fire were mentioned in KOF XIV
Also the fact that Xiangfei and Lao (the dude who appears in the intro of Real Bout 2) made appearances in later games.
In Garou MOW you can see Lao in B. Jenet's pirate crew when the match is about to start and in one of Jenet's win poses.
You know what other SNK game is semi canon?
KOF 2002 (at least the vanilla version)
In KOF XV, K9999/Krohnen mentioned Kusanagi, Kyo's dark skin clone and in KOF XIII, in Vice and Maxima's pre battle dialogue, the gorgeous redhead mentions the last time they met which was in KOF 2002
Wow, Yamazaki actually has a second palm! Seriously through, they reused some drawings from original FF3/RB endings here. But still great anyway. My favourite one is probably Joe's. Just because he's one of my mains and here he's not being mocked as usual. I can't remember exactly but I guess there are not many games where his ending is not a humiliation or cringe of sorts, especially lately. Others than that, Andy's ending is timeless, and Duck's is touching as hell. Also, these little comic drawings of Xia, Krauser and Laurence are nice. The most boring are Terry's and Mary's, unfortunately. Nothing really comes from them. I was expecting Mary had mistaken some beerbelly beach dude for a Terry with a ball due the sun blinding, and Terry going after swordfish in the sea with his signature Power Dunk. Rick's ending is basically something coming from Street Fighter 2, so Capcom-esque.

I think Oda mixed Rb 2 with Rb dominated mind,it was the obvious one with lore,and with Alfred canonised!
Alfred does appear in this game, so he's canon regardless.

I saw it back in the 90's and really forgot most of them.
I still like Real Bout 2 the best out of all fatal furies love the play style and the charcter roster.
To be honest they did sillier endings on this game cuz it was one that wasn't supposed to be canon so they did non-canon endings and went more lighthearted If you want more serious endings that have to do with the actual lower and progression of the story you could do the original real about Fatal Fury endings and those are amazing and probably more in line what you're looking for. Real belt fatal Fury 2 doesn't even have like actual game intro cinematics or anything they just get you into the fight and get out

Honestly? I prefer Real Bout Special "endings" and i think they will stay canon in my head...i've always played (and still play!) FF Real Bout and FF Real Bout Special way more than the RB2 chapter anyway 🤣
