This is what Samurai Shodown 8 should be. Check out the description for all the important links. If you're watching this video close to its release, there's a SamSho 6 tournament next Friday (6/14/24): challonge.com/tournaments/signup/TeQOedwqju#/signup/fbjbiz3ihib
Characters from each Spirit's title cards in the video: 1: Zankuro/Charlotte 2: Gen-An/Kusaregedo 3: Ocha-Maro/Enja 4: Kazuki/Sogetsu 5: Rera/Yumeji 6: Mizuki/Amakusa
Also I dig the less serious, more "big party" vibe Samsho VI has. This game was made for the fun factor for sure. They just said, "here. Have all these characters, including the sub-bosses from vanilla V, have all these grooves, do whatever you want with it." I love it. I love how it's just samurai CVS2. I love the goofy ahh characters they threw into this and how lighthearted the game is in general, especially compared to the rest of the series. And I love THE SHEER AMOUNT of possibility this game provides. They really went all the way out to make this the most fun game in the series.
So crazy story - I played this on a whim at Combo Breaker at the bring your own controller area - and fell in love. I've been playing it the past couple weeks and searched to see if people still played this game, only to find this! Although I probably can't play the tournament this weekend, i'll definitely be watching and can't wait to enter a tournament in the future, great vid.
Local used to have Samurai Shodown 6 but it hasn't been available for a while, had a lot of fun with those brackets. Also neat to see a ToastRider collab.
Yeah it's something I wanted to do for a while. All the effort he puts into promoting and running the game, that blog post deserved to be turned into a video.
Ippon! Thanks for speaking about the 3D As a series veteran, it's the only sequel with current gfx and new characters. Let's Play! (Still though, the pixel ones 3:00 will be the most canonical.)
It was so surprising to even see this on the Wii samurai shodown collection but it entirely sold me with "this is the first time this fighting game is available outside of Japan" I kinda wish i was better at Samurai Shodown but I can absolutely appreciate it
Your original video of you trying the game got me to check it out and try it myself. Its fun and there is a ton to learn so its something that i could see playing long term
I actually just tried this for the first time the other day. 1Sieger and 6Andrew really clicked with me in Training. As someone that fell in love with SamSho II and 7 but just kind of likes V Special, 6 felt like a perfect balance of fresh and in the lane of what I like about SamSho personally. Cool video, hope it brings some attention to the game.
Fantastic video! It really is the best SamSho and i've been playing it since 2009, desperate for other fighters to understand its value, so i'm gonna have to show up to one of these fight nights for it
It might be lacking the serious tone of other SamSho entries, but man does it have _content_ for days. And for even _more_ Spirit madness, the console versions lets you build your _own_ Spirits, mixing and matching features from the other Spirits to get wild. My only real gripe with the game is the arcade mode's boss. If this guy were any cheaper he'd be the General from Kaiser Knuckle. If your fighter doesn't have a good knockdown projectile you're in for a world of hurt.
Really happy to see a video actually praising SS6. For some reason I've seen so many people dismiss this game without even trying it just for not being like V Special. I think this is one of the best entry points for the series, with it being a bit faster than the previous games and having plenty of styles that have easy-to-get mechanics.
Good to see you back online. And yeah it is, they dropped it for all the consoles the fighting game scene wasn't on in 2009. Drop this on the PS3 and XBLA, it probably does pretty decently.
Every once in awhile I think to myself, "why haven't I ever put much time into SamSho 6?" Then I boot it up, hear the incredibly grating sound design, and remember "oh, that's why." It would not surprise me at all if it plays great, but the look, sound and overall presentation feels so bootleg.
The way they handled its release also seemed incredibly bootleg; put it on all the consoles people either stopped playing or don't run tournaments on anymore.
A lot of this sounds interesting, but you could have sold me by saying this is a Dream Match installment... I only played some of the OG game, 5 Special (Iroha was fun) and the SamSho (2019). It is a shame that the community and rereleases gravitate towards arcade release even when console releases make additions. I know some modes make no sense, characters may not be balanced for arcade mode and the like but what about a dipswitch which is stacked with the freeplay mode.
By far, this is the most easiest Samsho to play, except for the final boss that ruin my experience, but out of that the game is pretty enjoyable for someone that cannot adapt to the traditional and methodical Samsho gameplay that fans love. It's a Samsho 4 but Dreamatch and without violence, which Is not a bad thing. But I bet people will try to tell me this game sucks jusg because is a 2D Soul Calibur, people just wont let me be.
SS6 isn't my favorite one, but it's a really interesting game and it's the only way to play some of these characters that have been in the series for a long time. Plenty of old heads are learning to embrace things that aren't our prized princes.
Honestly same. As much as people love it, going back to it is like going back to a game from the 70s; it feels so so so different for me from what I'm used to.

I’m so happy to hear you’ve had a good experience with the game so far and I’m looking forward to having you in tournaments in the future!

There's really no other major fighting game series like it. It's got a pacing completely unique to it.
Your original video of you trying the game got me to check it out and try it myself. Its fun and there is a ton to learn so its something that i could see playing long term

If you ever see me, Sieger Blaster, online hmu and we can play a ton. Very busy with a mod project but I'd love to play
Trying to convince me to play a samsho game is not particularly difficult but you have certainly succeeded.
HEY THATS ME! This is a top tier vid, Thanks for using my match in the vid!
Fantastic video!
It really is the best SamSho and i've been playing it since 2009, desperate for other fighters to understand its value, so i'm gonna have to show up to one of these fight nights for it
Sw6 was my favorite one. It had all my favorite fughters & some new ones. It feels like a great wipe up (a dream match like kof 98).
5:09 I wonder who that Rasetsumaru player is. I'll bet they're pretty charming. 😏
The unwritten rule of this video is that if you played in Slamurai Jamdown, you had about a 50% chance of appearing 🤣
Definitely gonna check out this game! It looks a ton of fun.
It's also got an awesome wiki, and check my reply to the pinned comment if you're looking for characters to use a specific spirit with.

Just from the comments on here, the lack of blood seems to be quite the sticking point too.
nice video. instantly subbed
Cheers, thanks!
This sounds so sick, I can’t believe they dropped the ball so badly with the release back in the day
Good to see you back online. And yeah it is, they dropped it for all the consoles the fighting game scene wasn't on in 2009. Drop this on the PS3 and XBLA, it probably does pretty decently.

Fr though, great video, I gotta play more of my favorite enby samurai one of these days

Haven't given this game a shot yet, but your video makes me wanna pick it up... despite being overwhelmed by the spirit system lol. Nice video!
The way I did it was find a character I liked then pick the simplest groove and go from there.
@@GohLow that's exactly how I plan to go about it as well. Go unga bunga then build out from there lol
@@ThatPunkYT If you wanna go a bit technical Unga, Enja's pretty damn cool.
@@GohLow I'll keep that in mind! I did like the look of that weird puppet show character or whatever. I can't resist uniqueness like that lol
@@ThatPunkYT Toast sent me that clip and said it had to be in the video. Glad it caught someone. Ocha Maru's such a cool design.
This is like CVS2 in terms of customizability but with Samsho
I have this on my PS2 HDD, I still play it from time to time
A lot of this sounds interesting, but you could have sold me by saying this is a Dream Match installment... I only played some of the OG game, 5 Special (Iroha was fun) and the SamSho (2019).

Honestly, if the console port had rollback netplay we’d probably be running that. We work with what we have though.
I am a big SNK fan and own a Wii, PS2 and a PS4 and I had no idea this game existed. Looks cool
Yeah iirc it didn't get a wide release nor was it marketed much if at all.
Alex and Toast mentioned
Two of the best!
I wish this game was on modern consoles/pc with rollback.
It's available on Fightcade with rollback
I lile this game due to it basically having all the characters kinda like mvc2
Yeah, gotta love big rosters!
Ultra4 slander is crazy
If this was my script, I would have slandered it more

Sam sho is awesome but there is no one online. So what the hell can I do....
Practice, then join the weekly tournaments.
@@GohLow I live in Beijing. There is a Street Fighter scene, a Smash scene, but no Sam Show scene. None
@@johnpreston230 Well then create one if you have the means to. But what I meant was the online tournaments like the ones I mentioned in the video.
This game looks fun, just ignore all the samsho boomers
Oh I have been. Good rule of thumb going into any game really; ignore the doomer boomers.
SS6 isn't my favorite one, but it's a really interesting game and it's the only way to play some of these characters that have been in the series for a long time.

How do you spell the Japanese name?
Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkakuden. The moment you put a T after the base name, it should be basically the only option on fightcade
Do people actually play this?
I bought it when it came out and couldn’t find a match.
They play it on fightcade
Nowadays they play it in Fightcade
Kyoshiro C tier 😔
Replacing his run with a step dash really did a number on him. But he at least gets a fun new stance to mix with!
Naaaah. I started on basic SF2 but it's unplayable to me now. Way to slow and clunky.
Honestly same. As much as people love it, going back to it is like going back to a game from the 70s; it feels so so so different for me from what I'm used to.
Nah, Samsho and KOF fucking suck now.
I like Samurai Shodown II.
