My heart tells me the Lions are still cursed and will continue to suck and ruin anyone they come in contact with, BUT...I am actually mildly optimistic in the short term about the moves the Lions have made recently.
Why not trade your best player, the quarterback? Hell, QBs are a dime a dozen. When was the last time before Stafford they couldn’t find a good one. Admittedly, they never had a great one before Stafford, but they never lacked a Scott Mitchell, Joey Harrington, Chuck Long or Jon Kitna to lead them to yearly glory. Valenti is a GENIUS to recognize this. He’s almost bright enough to work for the Fords.
Stafford is not a poor QB. He is very good. Its the defense that sucks, and the O line has not been consistently good. Its tough to throw good passes from the lying down position. Both the D and O line need to be retooled. Trading for draft picks is a good start. Now we need someone that does a good job drafting. That has been a issue. Too many first rounders played worse than 6th rounders.
If the Lions curse continues as it has for 50+ years, Stafford will win 2 to 4 Super Bowls with the Rams. I'm happy for him, but disappointed in the Lions
That’s dumbass logic, you draft the best guy available. There’s no such thing as QBU. Ohio Stats hadn’t been recruiting nfl lvl QBs until Haskins. So 1 failure mean don’t draft another one.
If they draft Trey Lance, Zack Wilson or even Justin Fields if he drops at 7 and sign a veteran bridge QB like Tyrod Taylor (who knows Lynn’s offense) they’d still be paying like 20mil less per than what they were paying Stafford and Daniel! You take that 20mil fix the defense with that and the additional picks and I think you actually improve the team over the 2020 version! 👍🏻
Problem is that everyone knows they have to move him so they're not going to get any real offers. Everyone knows they owe him 10M in March and have to move him before then. My guess is they get a 2nd and a 4th. The news leaking made this a buyers market.
@@mrjojo2836 Really unique comment. Did you come up with that? I didn't expect them to take on the worst contract in sports as a part of the deal. They didn't get more than I predicted. They got less. As of this moment they are -10M in salary cap space, with their top 3 receivers and Romeo Okwara unsigned. They set the whole place on fire to get an extra pick. And both of those picks are for a team they just made a SB contender. Those are going to be 25-30 overall. Statistically insignificant from an early 2nd round pick. So they got 2 2nds and a 3rd and it cost them Stafford, their entire receiving corpse, and any FA they wanted to keep.
@@a2rons213 ...so a second and a fourth is more to you than two firsts (and indeed, they are firsts), a third and a serviceable bridge QB x 2 years whose bonus money is not our problem? Interesting. I mean if you want to believe that, have at it...I think its a solid trade.

@@Dmike2906 Mike is extremely biased just like Skip, Mike hates the lions, and he hates Stafford, and he hates the wolverines just like Skip hates LeBron, Mike is a MSU slappy like Skip is a Cowboy Slappy, which its ok to have a favorite team or player but as a listener you just have to take everything they say with a grain of salt when they discuss the players and teams they hate and love because they are both kind of over the top when it comes to their bias..

Here's the other thing. This won't be a draft day trade. Any moves can't be official until March 17 and Stafford is due a roster bonus on March 22. A deal will be made between that time.
I agree. It feels weird. It’s weird their hiring what seems to be quality people
it was never im better than you. he's looking out for the franchise by igniting a bidding war for him. like everyone's saying its the best for both stafford and the lions. that being said i really hope he goes to the colts and wins a ring honestly.
My heart tells me the Lions are still cursed and will continue to suck and ruin anyone they come in contact with, BUT...I am actually mildly optimistic in the short term about the moves the Lions have made recently.
I wanted to ship Stafford 6 years ago. I'm not a Stafford fan. The Lions will be better going forward and will be a 🏆winner
this aged well
@@Andrew-ve9ls Very well. 🤣
Rico Called The Stafford Trade Lol
Great Matthew Stafford impersonation 10:01
😂😂😂
Two first round picks... PLEASE do not accept less.
seriously? you have to be kidding, right?
@@dabneyoffermein595 I don't think he was.
Fast forward boys, NFC NORTH CHAMPS BABY 🔥🔥🔥🔥
(Stafford Leaves Gets 4 Championships)
New Crew, New Look, New Outcomes
(4 Years later, Same Old Lions)
if Stafford get 4 rings after us..I'm all for it he deserves it
One down, three to go.
It’s the Best Trade the Lions have made in Franchise History so far.
Need multiple picks. Can NOT trade him for one first rounder. Jamal Adams and Tunsil went for 2 first rounders each.
Your delusional man lol but your podcast is awesome..keep up the good work
If the Lions curse continues as it has for 50+ years, Stafford will win 2 to 4 Super Bowls with the Rams. I'm happy for him, but disappointed in the Lions
Nostradamus ,you are
Do not draft Justin Fields. He is a system QB and had stud athletes all around him. When has an OSU QB been successful in the NFL?
Never
Never
That’s dumbass logic, you draft the best guy available. There’s no such thing as QBU. Ohio Stats hadn’t been recruiting nfl lvl QBs until Haskins. So 1 failure mean don’t draft another one.
And Mac Jones had stud athletes around him and so did Trevor Lawrence. Why can't Fields be the first successful one
@@chanceharrington8474 because he stunk up the field against Northwestern.
Taylor *
@@dnol4422 yeah I knew that, stupid spell changed!? 🤦♂️
Problem is that everyone knows they have to move him so they're not going to get any real offers. Everyone knows they owe him 10M in March and have to move him before then. My guess is they get a 2nd and a 4th. The news leaking made this a buyers market.
This aged poorly 🤔
How come there's always a still shot of Mike?
@@hanke11 Kinda like Dr. Frankenstein huh ??
This year was a 3-14 to 5-12 year with Stattford...so next year is a wash!!! Rebuild it right!!
Lions need Mac Jones. Trust me, he is the best QB in this draft. His mechanics and reads are on point. Look at his mechanics under blitz pressure. Look at his ability to make the right read and go through progressions under blitz pressure.
Looks like you might have been right, bruh. 🤣
Are you telling me, 3 years ago they could record and play then audio drops, but now we get to watch dead silence followed by laughter and a comment that doesn’t clue the RUclips viewers as to what was played. PLEASE get the drops into the videos.
Quick question...why is Mike not on camera anymore? Am I missing something here? Also, he's the best. Go Green!
He's still working frm home. Idk why they dont have him hooked up with video from home like the midday show tho.
I think he’s scared of Corona so he doesn’t go into the radio station anymore
almost 2 months later, I am actually ok with Cambell. The more I hear from him and about him, the better he seems to repair the toxicity of the last head coach. Players like him, hes been around the league as a player and in coaching, plus he was on the team at its worst. He knows what Detroits faced first hand and how much that sucks.
As a Browns fan, Dorsey is a great talent evaluator. Lions got a good one there. Hope they dont go 1-31 like the Browns did lol
Dorsey got some pretty good talent to the Browns!!!!! He just picked the wrong coach
@@Steve_643 yeah he definitely did! He likes to take chances so expect the lions to pick someone that is very talented but has great talent. Could be the next tyreek hill or could bust like antonio callaway
Rico can freeze frame with the best of them
“......I’ll back the whole thing......”
Then in three to five years, he and his listeners turncoat on the franchise/team and the whole thing starts all over again.
All they have to do is win. If they look like the same joke they’ve been since the 60’s, we’ll be ready to start over again.
@@ReoBandss Bingo. These weird ass people really acting like Stafford was gonna save the franchise or something when that window closed YEARS ago after 2016.
It’s because they are attempting the right thing. And if they fail, they should be ripped. If they succeed they will praised. It’s not that difficult to understand
@Barstool Prophet you might think your mentality is “trying to win” but it’s misguided. You are being fan. You are not looking at the lions objectively which you have to so you fully understand the overall situation they are in. You can’t just “everything is awesome” “go lions” and expect great results. You have to use logic. Accept things you don’t want to at times and make difficult decisions.
I thought that was a still photo of Rico at first lol
I think Stafford ends up netting a first and second-round draft pick.
How about 2 firsts, a third and a QB who could maybe rebound
Miami wants to get away from Tua. It was just 2 or 3 years ago they offered 3 1st round picks for Matthew Stafford I am hoping though give us both their 1st rounds this year
Half of these weird ass Lions fans really holding emotional attachments to a player like Stafford is the Jesus of the NFL.
He is

Lol. He's all we got! 😂
Stafford has done a lot of great charitable work for the city of Detroit. He's beloved in that city by people who know him.
I’m all for the trade and moving on. Doesn’t mean I won’t miss the best QB we’ve ever had lol
Lmao how did that work out for you lion fans. Stafford won a super bowl now that he had a complete team
It's working out pretty damn well actually. Stafford has a year maybe 2 at the most and hes also already a complete shell of himself.
This is facts
Stafford is worth a high 2nd MAX and I can't say I'd give that for him.
Now gentleman they have almost the entire or half of this draft let's what is Lion's top brass going to in this draft?
Hopefully it all works out, looking good though. Glad stafford is gone finally
He's gone alright. Gone to get fitted for his ring.
He was probably strongly considering this for a while and heard Campbell’s introduction press conference and said “I’m not playing for him”. But who knows. Go after Fields
We'd all be thrilled if Valenti left Detroit,...Michigan,... the U.S. and 97.1....Just sayin
why you always lyin'
Trading Stafford doesn't automatically mean we're gonna be good, I'm gonna wait to start celebrating
An argument nobody has made.
I celebrated. Stafford sucked here and got lucky in LA
Thank you GOD we didn't draft Tua.
Why

Rico is dead on. That is how you do it in real estate. Tell the competitors what the number is to beat to as many people interested and 99% of the time someone comes over the top and usually much higher. Then go back to the original highest offer and say. Well this team just offered this. Can you beat it? I'll let you think about it.
Trey Lance 🦁💙🙌🏻💯

A top ten draft pick for a QB that's never won a playoff game? That's only got to the to 4 playoff's in 12 years. I can't see that happening. I would be upset if Detroit traded for a veteran QB with a 69 and 82 record and gave up a #10 pick or more for him. That's nuts. Yeah he's talented. Yeah he's the best QB the lions have had in my lifetime. But he ain't worth a top ten pick or later first round plus second or third round pick. I can see fans calling in and suggesting this fantasy but I am surprised Mike and Rico are talking this slop. I'd take a late 1st round or 2nd round plus 3rd or 4th. The import thing is to start over, cut the salary, acquire more picks. (and hope management can draft better)
I know Stafford is a QB and all I'd be shocked if he gets the Lions a 1st and 2nd rd pick especially the player Mike has dogged these past years
Many of us would be thrilled if Valenti would leave Detroit.
Some say we root for the name on the front of the jersey not the back. Not this time. I’m done with these losers. My new team will be whoever Stanford goes to play. I’ve been growing numb to the Lions for the last 5 years and this wraps it up. I’m 47 now and I remember back to when I was 24 and was always full of hope and trash talking about how the next year will be different......then a co-worker who i]was in his late forties back then p]told me to get out now....they will break your heart every year. He wasn’t wrong.
Congratulations, Rams fan!
Good is the enemy of great.
Mike V is very simple (most of time) he does have moments of bias for sure but typically he says nice thing when you do sh* correct but if you lose and make terrible decisions he will rip you. Unfortunately the latter has been more consistent lately in Detroit so he appears negative all of the time
Don't let Mike fool you. He'll bash them the next couple of years if they don't win the damn championship. He tends to think everybody is the Yankees who even have a hard time winning a championship. He's probably the most negative dude on radio which most fans tend to parrot
He is actually very simple. You win or do the right things as a organization and he is actually pretty positive like TODAY. You suck and lose and make terrible decisions, he rips you. It’s not that complicated
There's have a hard time winning a championship and there's being an embarrassment for my entire lifetime. The Lions were trash long before Mike was here. 1 playoff win in 60 years man.
