See at this point I just don’t expect to see major college stars as potential rams players anymore. I just wait for the underrated guys who sneak into Later rounds and end up being gems. An example of this is cam Akers all though he was in the second round

This trade totally caught me by surprise. With the insane potential Matthew Stafford has, he could definitely lead that team to a future Super Bowl. I'm very excited about how he'll do in LA
To the rest of the league it’s a minor upgrade but to the rams, this will be game changing.

@@Seb318 top 10 is a stretch, he's a middle of the pack QB out of all the starters. I would rank him somewhere in the 14-17 range. Goff is in the 17-20 range. I'm including soon to be drafted QB's like Lawrence (who I would take over both of them) and eliminating recently retired QB's in these rankings.

As a Lions fan from the future, I'm honestly pretty happy with Goff. He's our guy now, and he has meshed excellently with the team.

Love it. As much as I love Stafford, he needed a change of scenery.. best QB we ever had in Detroit. I genuinely hope the Rams get over the hump. I'd be optimistic but since it's the Lions and the Lions do Lions things.. I expect them to draft 3 TE's and RT with those picks.

Yeah his career as a starter is coming to an end. Once he gets cut in Detroit, his career as a journeyman backup will begin with whoever signs him next.

The Lions offensive line is much much worse than the Rams, the recievers are better on the Rams, the defense is obviously a million times better. Goff has had more down years than he has had good years lol. The Rams just got way better while the Lions got much needed draft picks to continue rebuilding. Good for both sides.
@@GabeSweeney I'd say the rams o line is arguably one of their weak points because they don't invest in it. And woods and cup are not as good as Holliday and Jones Jr. The lions have good wr's but underutilize them because the don't draft well and invest in defense. The lions can easily contend in 3-4 years if they pick well with those firsts where as the rams now can't fix any issues if they appear. If the rams need a guy to fix an area they can't draft him, and they don't have the cap to sign a free agent so the rams have messed it up because just one injury screws them up.

The guy in charge of the rams drafting (Director of College Scouting) is now the Lions GM along with the rams director of Pro Scouting is now their Assistant GM.... not to mention they hired John Dorsey to just focus on personnel/scouting.... they might be a little scary in a few years.

As a Rams fan I don’t know how to feel. I am super excited to get Stafford. We haven’t had a solid QB like him in a while and he’s the missing piece to the puzzle that could get us back to the SB. I am also super sad about Goff. I really like him and always will. Sucks that he’s got to go to the lions when he was just figuring things out. I also don’t think the two first picks were necessary. We definitely should have gotten away with 1. In conclusion, welcome to the team Stafford and thanks for all you’ve done for us Goff.🐏💪

If Goff plays anything near as good as he has shown, the Lions basically got 2 free 1st round draft picks. I think the Rams severely overpaid on this deal.
I totally agree - the Rams win big in this deal too. Stafford is vastly underrated, and I think the only NFC North QB respected by fans across the division. As a Vikes fan, I'm pleased that he will finally get to play in a decent team. A clever way for the Rams to escape 4 years of Cap restraint & Goff's prohibitive ceiling. Stafford's 3-5 year window aligns really well with 30 year old Aaron Donald, the Ram's WR contracts, & promising rookies Cam Akers & Van Jefferson.

The ONLY time Matthew Stafford had a good team built around him, his season ended in the playoffs with the infamous call in Dallas.
Good point on the Browns a few years back. We got a bunch of picks when we traded Brock and never used him. Worked out well for us.

Don’t worry, the Rams won’t be better. Les Snead is making damn sure of that by taking a 22.2 mil cap hit on top of Staffords salary, and don’t have a first round pick until 2024, further carrying on the tradition of overpaying for aging and low level veterans instead of drafting and growing their own talent.

So this is like one of those NBA deals, where teams in rebuilding mode will eat big contracts for draft picks and young players? I know some people were up in arms when the Browns did that a couple years back, but I liked it. I'm a big fan of clever GM-ing.

As Rams fan since the Punic Wars (minus St. Louis years), best wishes to Goff in Detroit. He never failed to give 100% effort on and off the field, and he never relinquished his positive enthusiasm after defeats. Stafford will improve Rams attack if he is adept at audibles to reverse McVay's silly play calling AND if he isn't counting on getting much production out of McVay's "aggressively mediocre" tight ends.

In 2014 the Lions had the 3rd ranked defense in the league in Yards per Game and Points per Game.
From 2010-2013 the Lions had one of the best pass-blocking OLs in the league.
In 2010 the Lions gave up the 6th fewest sacks, despite the 3rd most pass attempts in the league.
In 2011 the Lions gave up the 16th most sacks, despite leading the league in pass attempts.
In 2012 the Lions gave up the 9th fewest sacks, despite leading the league in pass attempts by a large margin. 70 more pass attempts than the 2nd.
In 2013 the Lions gave up the 2nd fewest sacks in the league, despite once again being in the top 5 for pass attempts.
In fact, the Lions have never finished in the top 7 for sacks allowed since drafting Stafford, despite being one of the most pass-heavy teams every year.
Lions are busting moves all over - new gm - new hc - new qb I love it they were going nowhere with patricia and quinn but appreciate stafford's play
