      @@bl5086 Bee, there’s not a correlation between W’s or L’s and a coach’s weight.
It was a personal observation of mine in regards to the worst - and most despised - HC in the league.
Like Trump, he tried to position himself as a hyper-masculine leader. When in reality, he (they) were the exact opposite. Deeply insecure men that are: stubborn (see playbook), are ineffective communicators (see Slay; Diggs) and have an inflated view of themselves (see news conf, re: “I was behind the greatest defensive play of all time”)
      Just my opinion.

Another one that our O line would allow defenders to sack in hopes he would get injured. We shouldn't have to score 35 points to win. Defense is definitely a issue. Why does it seem like every host on 97.1 wants them to get rid of Stafford and take a QB at 7. Like whatever QB they get is going to be the savior here. As if any other option is just stupid. Some of these hosts need to have more of an open mind. I can't even listen to Pat Caputo anymore because his negativity toward Stafford has become annoying. As much as I want Stafford to stay and us to win, I would love to see Stafford win a super bowl weather it be here or elsewhere. He took over a dysfunctional mess, with a quarterback who was getting hammered every other week on or off the field, too many big personalities, and an organization that was in perpetual rebuild every year. Now all of a sudden they are knocking on the door of possibly getting to an AFC championship game. My thinking is that Sheila Ford Hamp and Holmes saw that

So he isn't an X's and O's guy. Neither is John Harbaugh of Baltimore, Brian Flores of Miami, and Joe Judge of the NYGiants. But it is nice that to have someone that has been in Detroit and with the organization at its worse. So yes he can relate to the fans. So his press conference was different, unorthodox, and we know people visiting Detroit are a little more nervous about their knee caps. Campbell's enthusiasm is genuine, he wanted to be here. Your right it might not work but at this point hiring the guys that say all the right things netted us no playoff wins and no winning seasons.
The front office kept Mike Disner around for the cap, something that Brad Holmes isn't all that knowledgeable on. The front office brought in Chris Spielman for his input, on hiring a GM, HC, and player acquisitions. My hope is that the positive energy that comes from Campbell, Spielman, Holmes, and Glenn will be contagious in a way Lions fans have wanted for years.

    Okay, Mr Michael Valenti,
Store this commentary and then revisit it again after two seasons...
If I end up sounding like a whacko who chews tobacco and born in a cave from the state of tennessee, I will send you $100.00 to hire someone to kick my ass for being, yet still stoopid enough to think the Lions can be anything more than a joke....
But I really think I have a handle on who the new Ms. Ford is and what she is thinking....
The times I have heard her speak about the state of the Lions, she really understands where they have been and where they were headed, had she not become the CEO...
And this daughter of the Ford's, is totally different from all other Ford's in the way she approaches people, people she employs and she certainly is not long suffering by giving leaders an abnormal amount of loyalty as Clay Ford was.
And I believe her approach to how the game of pro football should be done, will not follow the accepted way it has always been.
And I think she established herself this week as being the real head coach ( I just realized that Al Davis may have the pioneer of this type of leadership that involves everyone with Ms Ford being the #1 head coach, who decided she would make all the hiring decisions herself..
She did surprise most by hiring another inexperienced guy at the GM position, but as she made a couple more hires, you got a clearer picture of what her short term goals are as well as future seasons.
So she picks a GM, that not only addressed the past 15 years of drafting pieces of trash, but with this guys "Hall of Fame" ability to draft players better than anyone in history.....
Ms Ford understands that teams that win super bowls get great via the draft, not FA.....
If all he does the first 2 years is draft 10 men, 6 will be starters, and 3 make the pro bowl.....Ms Ford and another high ranked official will be teaching him on the go....
And you damn well know that this dude is very sharp and will always end up doing anything he does very well.
Then she hires Campbell and she also hired him for one super important role as the head coach 1A
He was not hired to be a great x and o guy or because he is good with QBs....
She hired him to be the man that commands a person to be an overachiever, mentally tough and play hard on every down, but his Gold Standard is his ability to treat everyone the same and that looks like this: If a player is responsible enough to give 110% for his teammates, then Campbell will always be there for them, go the extra mile for them, be a Godfather to six kids, kick you ass when needed and most of all, never ask a player to do something he would not.
Ms Ford gave him 6 years, because he probably will need 2 to 3 years to become a good X and O coach, but as far as being successful, I expect the Lions to win 11 games as long as they keep Stafford...
Then she hits the trifecta by hiring a dude that will thrive like Job after he was restored, in Aaron Glenn...
Glen is as close to a sure thing as you can get....
And again, the wisdom that Ms Ford has exercised, she probably gets her 4th man in an OC podition.
CAMPBELL could convince a Turkey that he is an eagle and that is how he will get his men to overachieve.
    BECAUSE
    SHIT I HAVE TO STOP

I don't understand the Stafford thing, we need an entire defense and a couple pieces on offense, you want to play the QB lottery for what? A draft pick and to ensure we lose more games? I'd rather use the picks we have on the defense, and I'm not too worried about the Lions winning too many games, if they do great!

I wish him the best if he becomes the Lions head coach. However, it seems like every 3 years or so the head coach of the Lions gets fired. The lions are a graveyard for head coaches. The Ford Family refuses to pay for and keep good players, and could care less if the team wins a playoff game. Dan has so many obstacles in his way, and history has shown that head coaches for the Lions cannot break through enough of them to be a productive playoff winning team.

Nobody with any self worth goes to the Lions. No winner has that kind of "I don't give a fuck anymore" attitude that it takes to ruin your professional life by working for the Lions in any capacity. Every one of them knows what the Ford family is all about which is marketing the car company via the play-toy football team an old drunk relative bought for pennies. If they do go to Detroit, they know about Morninweig and Schwartz and the assistant coaching jobs that might be the only available work they can latch onto once their 3 years is up with the Lions. Anybody in Michigan who gets excited about these two guys is wasting their time because they already dont care. They're looking for a few years of Ford Motor Co. cash and a quick out.

How about we get a coach that is innovative and not desperately clinging to the past. Doesn't even have to be an X's and O's guy, but someone that's not going to limit the team the way Patricia did trying to "establish the run". Get that shit out of here.
