They put a lot of detail into a few of the key moments in the narrative. But most of the the other animations are just the engine doing its best to mimick the mouth movements of the sound it hears, which is why it looks so off
I absolutely love how they actually put him in several locations along the main story path, and a little observation post outside your vault (they knew about you before you came out?). I only noticed it on my second playthrough, when I saw him in Goodneighbor. I didn't even know he was in other locations.
I don't think he knew specifically the player would come out. But that the institute had been there recently. So they were watching it to see why the institute was there. But I could be wrong who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
snaketooth98 I didn't think about that. Maybe they were just watching the vault after it was opened by Kellogg. Although, that was sixty years before the player emerges, so I'm not sure.
Yeah, but someone had to come to let the player out. Father even admits that he ordered someone to. So I'm guessing the Railroad learned about that activity and set up a watch to see why

In one of my playthroughs I killed the Railroad at the first opportunity, mostly because I wanted to know how the story would follow without them. For some reason, Deacon still randomly appeared, as a reminder of what I had done. It was actually kinda cool, like if my character regreted what she had done and was having hallucinations with the Railroad.
I wish I didn't have to kill Deacon with the Institute end. I like the Institute end because it is the best choice when considering that they make you head of the most technologically advanced group in the Fallout world. But I really liked Deacon because he seemed like such a cool guy. Problem is though the Rail Road is kinda stupid because the synths they liberate can end up going on killing sprees. It's a shame you can't just tell everyone that because you are the new leader of the Institute you will make moral choices and work together. Because honestly that makes a whole lot more sense than simply needing to kill everyone. I am pretty sure the Rail Road and Minutemen would be totally cool with you taking over the Institute. And all the Institute nerds couldn't do anything if you wanted to change things around. I guess Bethesda just wanted to make us feel horrible by forcing us to kill all of our friends.
John Rambo That's what makes the main quest line great, you get close to a lot of people and then you're forced to make a decision depending on what faction you're in
After playing this game for hundreds of hours I JUST found another Decan spot overlooking Red Rocket by Sancuary. It's at the top of the rocks across the road that runs past Red Rocket.
In that you want desperately to romance them but the game won't let you? Because absolutely. I'm not allowed to romance the one guy I really want to in both Skyrim and Fallout. It's bs

Preston Garvey so Preston if what you saying is true, then I want to test this out myself buy taking deacon to the atom cat myself. to do that I need some time so is it OK if I can take a break from helping those settlements marked on my map and try you're theory out ? I kind of need a new map too since my old map is covered with all your markings...
Imagine if Deacon was actually your lost son, but had to go undercover to see how things play out and the guy at the institute was just manipulating you like they do.
I love how Deacon's story changes depending on how things go. In mine he says "He's the Minutemen general and I heard he cleared out the Castle not long ago. People have been talking about that".
It also depends on the option you choose. In my playthrough, he didn't note anything but me killing a Courser (I did deactivate the guy though, but I guess it counts as killing). I didn't choose the "Courser chip" option, I chose the bottom one "tell the whole story", which led to Nora only mentioning the Courser thing, then Deacon showed up, calling her the Courser-killing machine. So it depends on way more factors than just what you do so far.
Okay, while I was going around the Commonwealth, I thought I was going crazy 'cause I was seeing this bald dude with sunglasses everywhere I went. This all makes sense, now! Deacon, you sly dog!
He was most likely wearing a bald cap. It's like a swim cap that makes you look bald if applied correctly. Either that, or he has wigs and shaves his head.
Deacln is a supposed master of disguise, but he stands out like a sore thumb because Bethesda forgot to put more than two bald people in the entire game.
I really want to find the truth about who Deacon is, he is by far one of my favourite companions and is the most interesting. Who could he be? Maybe he's the real Shaun, or the Lone Wanderer, ooh ooh or maybe Boone! That would explain the sunglasses
+JackSpad3s You know, if you apply even the slightest bit of logic none of those "possibilities" make any fucking sense. I mean, I physically shook my head when I read this.
Oblivion'sLegend in case you didn't realise, the whole him being shaun/lone wanderer/boone is just a joke. The main point of my comment is to express my interest in his character as he is such an enigma
Deacon was always one of my favorite companions I could never get anything out of him. I've never really learned anything about him that was actually trustworthy. And yet for some inexplicable reason I felt that I could trust him no matter what. He may be a compulsive liar but for whatever reason I've always felt that he's got the interests of the people of the Commonwealth in mind. The fact that he works for the railroad probably has something to do with it. Also this is totally headcanon by the way and I have absolutely nothing to base this off of but I cannot escape the feeling that Deacon maybe one of the protagonists from a previous game. Again I have nothing to actually prove that. It's just something I like to make believe.
I’m pretty late but if you don’t know Deacon is a synth and he’s actually the leader of the railroad. Also he has a code that resets him that says “trust no one” or something

And people say Deacon is the Lone Wonderer
John and people think I'm in the Capitol Wasteland. That was my cousin, dogmeat.
John naaah... He's Butch. 😆
Maybe Deacon is the Mysterious Stranger in the Commonwealth .
@@shiba-bear Dumb theory.
@@shiba-bear bruh, mysterious stranger is a Ghost of Fallout game. There is no way deacon is him because he is to weak to one shot a behemoth
The one at 4:20 is actually someone called Barry, if you keep exploring the top left of the map you'll find his trailer with a terminal that says he saw you leave the vault and stuff.
Do you have the Plenty O Exploration mod on?
Barry weed
I think that’s the guy Travis mentioned on the radio when he reports you leaving
And as if that wasn't enough...
Nothing more to say.
Pikok i
Don't you have, like, important things to do?
Gengar of R* nothing more to say
What a day, huh?
Bitch it's summer what do you mean?
He is self aware
Yes but I am procrastinating
0:12 HA! I knew that was him, after seeing what he looks like on the internet and actually meeting that NPC in game, adding to the fact that he looks so suspicious, i just had a hunch
Seriously never noticed this before. There's a chair on a hill near Red Rocket by Sanctuary too. Wonder if that was him too D:
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised lol.
Yes he was watching that place when the institute and kellogg are ransacking the vault for experimentation. So if the railroad interfered their operations the spouse wouldn't be dead and shaun would not turn into a cold-hearted person
@@Dondingdingding I know this is a reply late reply but you realise that there is a 60+ years time gap between Shaun being kidnapped and the SS waking up right?
3:32, that's the most human-looking animation of Piper that I have seen so far. Let alone the entire game.
They put a lot of detail into a few of the key moments in the narrative. But most of the the other animations are just the engine doing its best to mimick the mouth movements of the sound it hears, which is why it looks so off
Julian Reviews wow. I thought Bethesda were being lazy fucks.
Oh god , I didn't expect that it was Deacon in this memory chair ...
I absolutely love how they actually put him in several locations along the main story path, and a little observation post outside your vault (they knew about you before you came out?). I only noticed it on my second playthrough, when I saw him in Goodneighbor. I didn't even know he was in other locations.
funny thing is,on my second playthrough I saw him at every location.Evon got the hancock-scene.Didn't put 2 and 2 together.
They found out they took Shaun from the vault and had deacon hide out there
I don't think he knew specifically the player would come out.
John Rambo That's what makes the main quest line great, you get close to a lot of people and then you're forced to make a decision depending on what faction you're in
^I one shot that with the debug pistol
John Rambo I shot his ass no fucks given HALE INSTITUTE
The Courier you're a bitch ass nigga
Guys, chill out. Have some Jet.
I knew it! I gotta admit I had my suspicions but what I didn't notice is that he was in a lot of places.
Bethesda should make a dlc around him.....
sabri ?
*Y E S*
They did. It's called Fallout 3.
Deacon is awesome. Possibly my favorite companion though he is competing with Nick. I like the underground spy style of the Railroad as well.
Fluffy what happeneds If you try to attack him does the railroad get mad?
+Insanity Song No, and he's essential
+FluffyNinjaLlama i didnt even talk to them, i just simply shoot them.
+FaLLxEN REFLEX no he Will just sit down and than stand back up like nothing happens
+Laurens Van Aalst happened*
+Laurens Van Aalst don't correct me you litle bitch
After playing this game for hundreds of hours I JUST found another Decan spot overlooking Red Rocket by Sancuary. It's at the top of the rocks across the road that runs past Red Rocket.
wait what happens when you go to the lookout position to the right immediately after exiting the vault?
Tactical Guerrilla He's not there.
Tactical Guerrilla good idea
Mac Thompson-Brown 😂😂😂
Mac Thompson-Brown yeah. By the way, there's a settlement that needs help. I'll mark it on your map.
It would be so awesome if you got there and a "traveler" was walking away.
You'd think you'd have a dialogue option like: "hey you look like that guard in diamond city and that guy in good neighbor ."
That vault 111 one made me so uncomfortable...
You missed one he was in the scav base during the flight of the us constitution
+Happy Cubone I just checked and he's not there in my game :(
Can you kill decon when he is spying on you if you can does it effect the railroad choices in any way?
+ZombieSlyayer 115 He is essential so you cant kill him
+Drink Me till you side with the institute and massacre them, Anakin on Mustifar style.
+Deathlikeace335 I killed him, shot him dead and said "You are now enemies with the Railroad." And a couple of failed missions from there.
Deacon is the new Brynjolf.
Why Bethesda?
WHY
Sorry lad I got important things to do
In that you want desperately to romance them but the game won't let you? Because absolutely. I'm not allowed to romance the one guy I really want to in both Skyrim and Fallout. It's bs
Imagining Hancock giving Jet as promised to Deacon is just funny for some reason, like that unusual but fitting relationship no one expected.
If you're fast enough, can you catch him near the vault?
I did that. Nothing happens.
Yiff or death
Thank you Fluffy, here is payment, a song: Hey everybody, did the news get around
About a guy named Butcher Pete
Oh, Pete just flew into this town
And he’s choppin’ up all the women’s meat
[Chorus]
He keeps hackin’ and whackin’ and smackin’
He keeps hackin’ and whackin’ and smackin’
He keeps hackin’ and whackin’ and smackin’
He just hacks, whacks, choppin’ that meat
Butcher Pete’s got a long sharp knife
He starts choppin’ and don’t know when to stop
All you fellas gotta watch your wives
‘Cause Pete don’t care whose meat he chops
[Chorus]
Ever since Pete flew into town
He’s been havin’ a ball
Just cuttin’ and choppin’ for miles around
Single women, married women, old maids and all
[Chorus]
Wakes up in the morning, half past five
Chops from sunrise to sunset
I don’t see how he stays alive
Meat’s gonna be the death of ole Pete yet
[Chorus]
The police put Pete in jail
Yes, he finally met his fate
But when they came to pay his bail
They found him choppin’ on his cell mate
[Chorus]
That Butcher Pete is a crazy man
Tries to chop down the wind and the rain
Just hacks on anything he can get
Say, turn this record over, you ain’t heard nothing yet
She deserves her revenge... and we deserve to die. But--then again, so does she. So, I guess... I guess we'll just see.
+TeamAngryFaic I got that reference straight away...
Best. Comment. Ever.
+aaron hines, I sing that shit at work sometimes!! lol. Co-workers stare at me like "WTF?", but then I explain what the songs about XD
This makes me want a mod where Deacon is placed at more locations, disguised, and without spoiling where he'd be found.
Decon took notes from Jaqen on Game of Thrones.
LimeTimeHD haha yaas
"HUH YEALH THE INSTITUTES AND THEIR SYNTHS" surfer dude deacon
So Deacon was on my ass the whole time!
+That one Gay Nazi from outer space but is now the damn fiddle master.
+X6-88 Hey man hows the institute going?
+That one Gay Nazi from outer space but is now the damn fiddle master how's miller going?
BIG BOSS Pretty chill he's still mad though that hes not with the real boss
lol
you missed one ,that Zeake guy from the Atom Cats looks a lot like Deacon!
kinda does yeah, never really thought about it
And acts like a twat...
Preston Garvey so Preston if what you saying is true, then I want to test this out myself buy taking deacon to the atom cat myself. to do that I need some time so is it OK if I can take a break from helping those settlements marked on my map and try you're theory out ? I kind of need a new map too since my old map is covered with all your markings...
lel
Preston Garvey Fuck you and FUCK your settlements!!!
-Hey
-What's up?
-Hey
-Don't you have like...settlements to help?
@@Croftice1 yep true. Hence he's the perfect stalker.
He's Deacon? I've seen him walking around. I thought he was just an actual Drifter XD
"As If That Wasn't Enough" Just imagine him saying that over and over and over!
Okay, while I was going around the Commonwealth, I thought I was going crazy 'cause I was seeing this bald dude with sunglasses everywhere I went. This all makes sense, now! Deacon, you sly dog!
Looks like Deacon has been hanging around with the lutece twins for some time
The way he knowingly says, “/You’ll/ totally love it here.”
"Greymane or Battleborn?"
"WHAT?!"
deacon is bald when he spies and has hair when you meet him?
He was most likely wearing a bald cap. It's like a swim cap that makes you look bald if applied correctly.
Either that, or he has wigs and shaves his head.
+DAVERUKY (Ghost-Vaper) He is always bald. He is wearing a wig when you meet him.
+Shruk ah ok thanks
@Vincent lmao. Didn't even realize it at that time.
Deacon has a wig
I talked to him in diamond city and didn’t realize it was deacon until now
The fact he can be a drifter in Goodneighbor and then immediately change outfits and get inside a memory pod as soon as you open the door is wizardry
Deacln is a supposed master of disguise, but he stands out like a sore thumb because Bethesda forgot to put more than two bald people in the entire game.
Hmm. Deacon must be reliving the time with his wife in the memory den.
Sad... RIP :'(
pls no.
Damn, that vault booty! Gets my head spinning
I really want to find the truth about who Deacon is, he is by far one of my favourite companions and is the most interesting. Who could he be? Maybe he's the real Shaun, or the Lone Wanderer, ooh ooh or maybe Boone! That would explain the sunglasses
no.
+JackSpad3s dont worry bud I still luv u
JackSpad3s This is the internet, There are people stupid enough to say stuff like that.
Deacons back must hurt from carrying the railroad
That is insane, he was watching you from the beginning of the game!
Imagine if deacon stalked you even before the war lmao
Is Deacon essential while he is spying on you as a "drifter"?
Can always rely on you to show all the dialogue options fluffy. You definitely deserve more subs.
Creepy to think Deacon watched you leave the vault. How would he know when Shaun would thaw out the Sole Survivor.
OMG !!!! SO ALL THESE TIMES I THOUGHT I SAW HE IM ACTUALLY SAW HIM !! i just thought they were reusing the voice actor and model .....
