Jack Johnson actually set black athletes back. His narcissistic personality which is typical from a boxer today but back then turned white people against him. Jack is those ideals personified. honestly there’s probably dozens of other black men at the time who could’ve done this if they were not in jail due to racist laws. but Jack was the one who had the chance and decided to be a trailblazer. his struggles changed people’s views on what not only black people, but Americans were capable of. it’s sad that because of this system of oppression more Jack Johnson’s were never even give a chance. @@akashnadar1449 How baseless !!! Before Jack Johnson, blacks were supposed to fight within themselves only. At that time, world Champion meant only a white-skinned sportsman, and blacks were engaged (say, forced to be engaged) in sports separately. And the champion among them were called "coloured champion". If at the time of Jack Johnson, one black was not supposed to fight another black, why the hell Johnson had to become a "coloured champion" before becoming undisputedly world champion i.e. beating the-then white heavyweight champion? After becoming universally accepted world heavyweight boxing champion (beating both black contenders and afterwards, white contenders) Johnson, for the reason best known to him, refused to fight another black pugilist and hence, was reluctant to give his fellow black gladiators the chance to win championship among all races (both blacks and whites). Previously, already Jack Johnson got a bad reputation in the society of whites by romancing, marrying, then even physically abusing his wives who were all white ladies, and afterwards, his unfortunate decision of not facing black boxers made him unpopular in the society of blacks also.
Where have you got this amusing news that at that time, two black boxers' fight wasn't promoted? I would like to know about the source of your THIS information.
Not just humiliate. Destroy their whole worldview of white supremacy.
Truth
@@squeegeedaniels2105 Exactly. Jack Johnson proved the so-called myth as "BOGUS" that whites meant invincible. He broke that falsehood. For a true gallant gladiator like him, it's very unfortunate, you know, to achieve bad reputations in his own black society. He could remain an all-time role model, as well as, great inspiration to all black kids from their childhood (which has later been done by Ali, Joe Louis, Carl Lewis, Alfrederick Joyner, Jesse Wens Owens) which opportunity he intentionally lost.
That's racism in a nutshell. Every racist has an insecurity they are afraid the other race will reveal
What a man, this confidence and toughness is out of this world and was earned the hard way. Only respect.
Facts
I dont care what anyone says, he's undefeated in my books!
Ya I get he needed the money but it would have been great if he could have stopped undefeated.
TRUTH OVER FACTS! LMFAO! 👌👍
13 losses.
saywhatagain! No, he needed the money. Did you miss that part in the video?
@@saysflushable Yes if he had an honest financial adviser so he could have invested his winnings.
Been watching this video everyday for the last month, this man is the biggest inspiration I've ever seen, also great narration and very well edited video, this should really be on TV
Jack Johnson was the baddest man on the planet. I always knew he was awesome, but I only knew a small part of the story. Thanks for making this video
he was just a frustrated black sportman. A bad man on the planet? Try Carlos the JAckal...Hitler...Stalin...THOSE were dangerous. This was juuust a baxer LET to fight :)

Holy shit, not sure how I've arrived here, but these were some very interesting 17 minutes.
The thing I like about Jack Johnson is he is an authentic person, caring yet capable of extreme violence. The best part I saw was the last when he wants to do something good.
Sports aside, he's one of the greatest Americans of all time
AFRICAN AMERICAN THAT IS...
c20 np143 American. Africans are in Africa.
@@ahs9583 init. It's like when people say native American. Surely that's anybody descended from the pre European inhabitants of the entirety of the Americas. 🤷♂️
@@ahs9583 why is it Caucasians in america 🇺🇸 don't refer to Mexicans as Mexican American when their origin is Mexico, or Jamaicans, Haitians, Puerto Ricans, or any other non caucasian origin? The white man would do better just saying he's African. The so called neuro is the only people that has been cut away from his root here in america by his oppressor. So yes there are Africans as well as African decent here in america, but but there is no original american decent here in america. So the least you can do is put some RESPECT on his ethnicity.
@@13lochie I apologize, but I'm just not familiar with European history. What I think I am familiar with is knowledge of self. With that being said I'd never refer to a European as anything but Caucasians
HOLY SHIT, this is a complete package from start to finish. The music, footage, interviews, and editing... all finished with that perfect clip at the end. Literally one of the best and most engaging documentaries I've ever seen. Thank you so much, PLEASE don't stop making these!
This is the first time I've seen the name Jack Johnson, This bloke was a legends and needs way more recognition.
Defo. A movie about him would be incredible
Hes everywhere bud..t shirts ...hats mugs...movies

You need to research the Galveston giant, im friends with his only living relative, she got his name cleared, at Whitehouse Trump signed pardon in front of her
You need to watch more boxing man all the greats talk about jack johnson
I’m just glad there is actual footage of such historical events
You’ll never get to learn something like this on a high school or college history class.
I’m a teacher and I’ll make sure this is part of my curriculum
@@lastmexicano The histoy of race relations NEEDS to be taught
@@lastmexicano why?

my grandfather taught us black history. stop waiting on school to teach what your grandparents live. my grandfather 92 and he still teaching us
Jack johnson was speeding and the cops stopped him and said he has pay on the spot fine so he gave them twice and told them he'd be speeding on way back too.
Like a boss.
A power move to end all power moves
This is actually true lol
I love that account
Insane. The balls on this guy. I just can't comprehend lol.
Eli has the coolest voice. Who better to narrate Jack Johnson's history. Jack you were a legend of boxing and life. RIP big smiley dude
Thank you, I appreciate that.
@@MrSilksoul Are you Eli? If so thanks for the narrative.
jack was a true hero who paved the way for so many fighters. god bless him and his legacy
This has to be the most fearless man I’ve seen living at that time.
he was a bum
@@rapmenn lol look how you sound hating on the first black person to whoop a white person
@@jibrillndny9126 he’s probably an old white racist from that era😂😂 you know his ass can’t stand seeing blacks and whites together nowadays💀 ahaha
@@jibrillndny9126 he wasnt the first, the way u worded it is so wrong. He was the first black person ALLOWED and he ended up dominating, whyte people realised the natural physical superiority that black people had, one of the reasons why he was hated
@rapmenn so is your entire DNA.
If Mohammad Ali and Mike Tyson said he's a badass then boy, he's a badass.
What a man! He came from nothing and refused to be stopped, he exhibited courage and incredible willpower....great is great, color is irrelevant...he is inspiring!
