Agreed although the only bit that lets it down is the way the foreman fight is edited. I think it’s a bit overplayed that Ali took the punishment he did. I think Ali was just the greatest that night and completely schooled him that night. He changed foreman’s life forever that night too.
As far back as I can remember, I recall all the men I grew up around speak so highly of Ali, he didn't even seem real. He was my first real role model. "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth" His sentence lies at the core of who I am and I do my best to live by it. The world might have lost the man but, his legend lives on forever.

He fought light heavyweights throughout his career and many contraversial decisions and many fixed fights. He lost all three times to Ken Norton (realistically) and once to Smoking Joe and never gave a rematch to Foreman.

Great tribute to Ali. It is tragic we were robbed of those three and half years when he was banned. They would have been his peak years...but he still did what he did. Incredible man...and human being.
Fact is he got off lucky, anyone else that dodged the draft like he did went to prison, but he didn't. As a celebrity he would've been given a safe, easy job much like Elvis was. He was a great fighter but I just dont and never have agreed with all his anti-American rhetoric while he was simultaneously living the American dream.
@@matposton87 I think you missed the whole point of why he refused to go. And even if he had a celebrity status, he was still black and at a very different time than now. This was a civil rights movement. At a time when vocal black people was being assassinated. He wasn't scared of dying. He wanted rights, and not just for him, for all black people. He used his platform and status to stand up knowing very well he could be the next black person in America with the target on their head. Might as well stand up for what's right and what you believe in and die on American soil than go to a war that has nothing to do with you and take a bullet there. If you truly believe he would've gotten a gravy job being a celebrity, you've got to admit, he took a bigger chance by standing up and chancing assassination than going to war then.
For me the most impressive and inspiring thing about Ali isn’t his, speed, his moves, his sharp tongue. The most impressive thing about Ali was his will power and spirit. The man was an immovable object and a vicious unstoppable force. One of the greatest men of character there has ever been.

Agreed although the only bit that lets it down is the way the foreman fight is edited. I think it’s a bit overplayed that Ali took the punishment he did. I think Ali was just the greatest that night and completely schooled him that night. He changed foreman’s life forever that night too.

He fought light heavyweights throughout his career and many contraversial decisions and many fixed fights. He lost all three times to Ken Norton (realistically) and once to Smoking Joe and never gave a rematch to Foreman.
He is not greatest of all there are many better than him.

Great tribute to Ali. It is tragic we were robbed of those three and half years when he was banned. They would have been his peak years...but he still did what he did. Incredible man...and human being.
Fact is he got off lucky, anyone else that dodged the draft like he did went to prison, but he didn't. As a celebrity he would've been given a safe, easy job much like Elvis was. He was a great fighter but I just dont and never have agreed with all his anti-American rhetoric while he was simultaneously living the American dream.

This was a civil rights movement. At a time when vocal black people was being assassinated. He wasn't scared of dying. He wanted rights, and not just for him, for all black people. He used his platform and status to stand up knowing very well he could be the next black person in America with the target on their head. Might as well stand up for what's right and what you believe in and die on American soil than go to a war that has nothing to do with you and take a bullet there. If you truly believe he would've gotten a gravy job being a celebrity, you've got to admit, he took a bigger chance by standing up and chancing assassination than going to war then.
For me the most impressive and inspiring thing about Ali isn’t his, speed, his moves, his sharp tongue. The most impressive thing about Ali was his will power and spirit. The man was an immovable object and a vicious unstoppable force. One of the greatest men of character there has ever been.

I can't get over how the ring announcers could find Ali's style "awkward." Ali was the flashiest, most graceful, and stylish boxer the sport has ever seen.
Ali ran around the ring hoping he’d out pace his opponent. He had no defense and kept his hands down. He had great stamina and wore down his opponent.
