isaw canned heat with fito and harvey mandell in san miguel allende mexico on 1976, the concert was opened by three souls in my mind, i was seventeen, i dont forget that concert. greetings from leon gto mexico.
Thank God I saw the original line up several times. Fito has done a good job trying to keep the legacy going but there was nothing like seeing Bob Hite and Al "blind Owl" Wilson playing live on stage magnificent
And the singer is Bob "Bear" Hite, he IS Canned Heat. He is an original member. Him and The Blind Owl are the 2 most recognizable faces of CH. The Blind Owl died of a drug overdose at age 27, but most don't name him with the other musicians who died at that age.
LarryTaylor plays on most of Tom Waits albums now, met him in Auckland when he played with John Mayall, such a nice man and he was happy to talk to us after the concert
oh wow! did THAT take me back!!! That song got me HOT! Getting down to the 2 sides Record, what was it, some 45 minutes of Refried Boogie! I always hated when it ended :) 1970 some good ol days!
THAT CRACKS ME UP WHEN HE SAYS ABOUT A GUITAR BEING OUT OF TUNE THAT IT'S CLOSE ENOUGH FOR JAZZ. WE ALREADY PLAYED ON THE ROAD, WHAT KIND OF DRUGS ARE YOU ON? GIMMIE SOME.
" YOU KNOW WHAT I TOLD THOSE COPPERS ! " ~ " I FEEL GOOD & GONNA PARTY TILL THE BREAK OF DAWN ! " OH YA " I AM GONNA BOOGIE , BOOGIE , BOOGIE ALL NIGHT LONG WITH BEAR !!! "
Very very very close, but it's not the same. There's slight differences in the riff. And besides, this came out before La Grange (this song in '68, and La Grange in '73).
lol, I love Hooker... Who in the blues did NOT steal riffs. Hell, it ain't stealing in the blues, it is building the blues. Led Zep tried to explain that in court...they disagreed. ;) Lawyers don't know the blues.
Hi there. Anybody know the guitar tuning for this. I see the rhythm guitar has a capo on the second fret. For the life of me I can't work out the drone thing. Please help before I forget to boogie!
You can do it easily playing Em for a bar and a half, G for one beat and A for one beat. Or in Am, C, D. Emphasis on the upstroke. One and (upstroke on and)...etc. You can capo it anywhere you want.
The riff was around before Hooker. And blues music is based on western harmonic principles; it didn't just appear out of nowhere. And rock is based as much on country music as blues, if not more so.
I was lucky enough to see Canned Heat and John Lee Hooker on the same bill in the early 70's at the Long Beach Auditorium. They both played separate sets and to top off the evening both bands jammed together and blew the roof off of the joint! ZZ Top is a good band but they are a Johnny Come Lateley band.

Badass all.old dude Rock's, thank you so much I haven't heard that in a long long time💪💪💪
And the singer is Bob "Bear" Hite, he IS Canned Heat. He is an original member. Him and The Blind Owl are the 2 most recognizable faces of CH. The Blind Owl died of a drug overdose at age 27, but most don't name him with the other musicians who died at that age.
Not the same band without Owl and Bear.
The singer here is not Bob Hite, if that's what you meant....
the singer is Dallas Hodge. The bear is 6 feet under
Love this band the harp is superb and Fido picked some good players. Thanks for keeping the Heat going as long as you can play keep that band going.
It's Fito.
LarryTaylor plays on most of Tom Waits albums now, met him in Auckland when he played with John Mayall, such a nice man and he was happy to talk to us after the concert
OH HOW I REMEBER THESE YEARS, WISH I COULD GO THERE AND STAY THERE^^^^^>>>>>*****!!!!!!!777

Livin The BLUeS .
The opening bars at 2.50 made me think they were going to perform 'Spirit in the Sky'!
Fito de la Parra un Mexicano en Canned Heath

Juventino Romero fito de la parra ( el oso mejor conocido como el oso )
I got to interview Fito backstage before their show. He was a Wildman arranging the act while giving me a tour and a short drum lesson ! Love the guy
yep it does, they are both in the boogie rythm, that is why.
Orange sunshine and a wicked yellow road runner drinking 151 flat empty blacktop
timeless
Boogie all night was the in thing with "The Heat"
Who doesn't love 7th chords?
Close enough for jazz 😎

no man... it's just the way you play the blues
Larry Taylor's brother Mel Taylor played drums for the Ventures.
And Mel Taylor, Jr. did too, after Mel, Sr.'s passing. I was good friends with their guitarist, Nokie Edwards (R.I.P.)
canned heat is hot! those guy's have a really groovy heavy sound.
dude, just play the music, you there..every time
The singer playing the gold-top Les Paul may be Dallas Hodge from Detroit.
Refried Boogie 😎👍👍🍺
Muddy Water & Rayman 'should have met" ! !
Let’s boogie.. yeah..💃🎸🎸💃💋
THAT CRACKS ME UP WHEN HE SAYS ABOUT A GUITAR BEING OUT OF TUNE THAT IT'S CLOSE ENOUGH FOR JAZZ. WE ALREADY PLAYED ON THE ROAD, WHAT KIND OF DRUGS ARE YOU ON? GIMMIE SOME.

la musica son sonidos agradables al oido combinadas con el tiempo.pa. mi raza
The guy talking in the beginning sounded kinda like Al Pacino in Scarface.
Now I know where ZZ TOP, GOT THE RIFF AND THE SOUND. Interesting
Chavo
ilililhy1 John Lee Hooker 👍
Very very very close, but it's not the same. There's slight differences in the riff. And besides, this came out before La Grange (this song in '68, and La Grange in '73).
if anything la grange came from this.
Ganondork222 It was played by John Lee Hooker before "ZZ TOP"
Yeah

Is Good
No, it's just a boogie pattern !!
The riff has been around since at least the 1920s.
chingón fito
Fito , beat it out baby.
U mean La Grange sounds like Fried Hockey Boogie? this song came out 2 years before La Grange, just wasn't as well known to people.
it is.
@beastofblurdon1 all of them except for the singer i think.
Where can I get a Left-handed drum set like Fito's?
Lot's of crap about Heat stealing the riff.. Actually folks it was in public domain when Hooker had it. Study a book eh.
lol, I love Hooker... Who in the blues did NOT steal riffs. Hell, it ain't stealing in the blues, it is building the blues. Led Zep tried to explain that in court...they disagreed. ;) Lawyers don't know the blues.
Nobody "steals" this riff. Belongs to everyone. It's the very core of Blues riffs.
So you mean that ZZ top have copied this song to do La grange ?
This is a Chineese song ??
boogie boogie l
La Grange?
Come on folks, EVERYONE owes John Lee Hooker for that riff!
Between Bo Diddly and John Lee, you have just accounted for 50% of rock!
The riff was around before Hooker. And blues music is based on western harmonic principles; it didn't just appear out of nowhere. And rock is based as much on country music as blues, if not more so.
All those blues cats made it
I was lucky enough to see Canned Heat and John Lee Hooker on the same bill in the early 70's at the Long Beach Auditorium. No Bear or Alan Wilson.

Who's left from the original band? I don't think there is one.
La grange jam?
Keeping it real by not using tuners - and making that olde joke I heard Neil Young use in 1970 - “ Here’s a Chinese tune Tune Ing.”
Is it just me, or does ZZTop's La Grange sound suspiciously like the same riff?
And a hundred others! Add a dash of space rock and you've got Hawkwind's "Orgone Accumulator"! It's a basic riff, everyone uses it - and it's all brill!
The riff has been around forever; and Canned Heat were pre-ZZ Top.
its just u ha ha ha
Warum sind alle Instrumente soo abgehackt gespielt, also musikalisch nicht gut, denn Blues ist weicher! Bullshit, das Hier!! BaaH!...
No sirve esta versión tengo amigos k la tocan mejor de aki de MÉXICO
oh wow! did THAT take me back!!! That song got me HOT! Getting down to the 2 sides Record, what was it,

1970 some good ol days!
Live refried boogie was 41 minutes.
U mean La Grange sounds like Fried Hockey Boogie? This song came out 2 years before La Grange, it just wasn't as well known to people.
