He really did back in CCR's day, but to be fair, his own band is hit and miss with a bunch of accordion and stuff that is nowhere near rock and roll. Very eclectic, but most of it is not satisfying to an old classic rocker like myself.

I’m an absolute child of the 80’s and grew up wanting to desperately play guitar like Edward Van Halen. Both John Fogerty and Reverend Bill have taught me that you don’t have to play fast, you don’t have to max out the gain knob on your amp and you can create some of the most timeless rock music ever. Thank you both for being such great teachers and influences on me.
I agree so much with this, its not all about the scales and the modes and the patterns. I too wanted to be like Eddie van halen and randy Rhoads and the shredders of the 80s but for me my revelation came when I plugged my uncles les paul straight into a cranked Marshall, no effects no pedals. Emotional, powerful, and melodic playing will get you very far. No discredit to eddie or the greats of the 80s in any way though

Gibbons was a monster player BEFORE the beard gimmick. Tejas is one of the most underrated ZZ Top albums ever. Ate up with all killer, no filler music..they had the cowboy hats and short beard look. Cool AF imho..

I'm almost 50 and CCR was one of the very first bands I ever knew of as a young kid, because of my dad. Today I have a 19 yr old son who has heard CCR played loud at home many times, its very cool.
I saw this tour when it came to Illinois and it was awesome. Fogerty was running around and jumping all over the stage like a man half his age, and his voice was as good as ever. ZZ Top never lose a step and are my all time favorite band.

Jerry Lee Lewis is still hanging in there, but he is the only one from the Sun days of the 50's. John Prine was living on borrowed time for years before Covid took him out last year - I will miss hearing him live, as well as I miss SRV. I was 16 THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED. Saw Buddy, the Bopper and Richie in MIlwaukee just a few days before that.

Absolutely! If you play in this league, it is part of your standard repertoire. Or in other words, the result of a talented drummer who had spent thousands of hours on rehearsal. Encourage your kids to learn an instrument latest by the age of 14/15 and if they show real interest, you will be amazed by the outcome.
I get goose bumps when I hear this stuff. ‘Twas 1976 and we just moved to Houston from back East…Mom was managing a U Totem convenient store and we high schoolers were her crew.. when one day these long bearded dudes came walking in from the apartments across the street and bought a buncha munchies. We were like “are you ZZTop?!!” (New to us Philly girls)… and yep ! Sure was!! They were so cool and normal.. I can even remember their junk food of choice 😂, chocolate bars, peanut butter crackers, chocolate milk… they were our regulars for a while til I guess they hit it big n moved on up.. My wife and I got to see John play with his sons in Spokane on the 16th of Aug. he put on a great show as did George Throgood who opened. It was a great time hearing songs off of the first album I had when it was new(Cosmo’s factory).
The whole show was set-up really well - and the musicians did a pretty good job of more or less, just being themselves ! That's pretty much how they roll... and rock !! ;D @%*

Two legends chilling and having some fun.
My wife and I got to see John play with his sons in Spokane on the 16th of Aug. he put on a great show as did George Throgood who opened. It was a great time hearing songs off of the first album I had when it was new(Cosmo’s factory).
These two in concert together would be a memorable treat!
