Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/ZZTopDoc
Produced by the Emmy award-winning Banger Films, ZZ TOP: THAT LITTLE OL’ BAND FROM TEXAS tells the story of how three oddball teenage bluesmen - Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard - became one of the biggest, most beloved bands on the planet, all while maintaining a surrealist mystique that continues to intrigue fans and entice onlookers 50 years after the band’s inception.
Buoyed by candid band interviews, never-before-seen archive, animation, celebrity fan testimonials (Billy Bob Thornton, Joshua Homme and more), and an intimate performance at the legendary Gruene Hall shot exclusively for this documentary, “That Little Ol’ Band” runs the gamut, from the absurd to the poignant, from squalid Texas bars to MTV heroics, all in celebration of this notoriously private, but larger than life, power trio. In the end, ZZ TOP: THAT LITTLE OL’ BAND FROM TEXAS unravels the extraordinary tale of a band whose image we know, but whose story we don’t.

These guys are not playing for you. They are playing for eachother. rare and true moment. what a find.
I just love Frank's drumming on this!! From the little tippy-tapping right at the start and throughout!!! He looks like a race car driver putting on the gloves, strapping himself in and - off he goes! He's so intent and focused! He keeps it all in sync!!! And those full stops and restarts - amazing synchrony!!! You can see from their looks at each other that they're all in it together like one finely-oiled machine and loving it!!! LLOOOOVVVEEEE!
Die 3 super Drummer speziell
That's the result of three skilled players who have kept their egos in check enuf to have stayed together, culminating in the sort of tight sound that only results from half a century playing together. I guarantee they aren't as tight with the new guy, even if he is every bit as skilled
Братуха,да ты маньяк ритма❤
I agree with you... I try to find him in the Rolling Stone 100 best drummers but I couldn't find him !!! What do you think ???

RIP Dusty, your family of listeners are still playing your guys music, Much LOVE
The great music you can achieve with just three guys. Incredible.
The most endearing ZZ Top session ever. The Brotherhood and mutual respect between these gentlemen manifests throughout the entire jam. R.I.P. Dusty. You three are legends.

True Trio of Brothers, Even in this clip you can see, even after 50 years, they just still enjoy playing with each other, to the very last day. A rare friendship and true family. A sound which gave a real foundation for Blues Rock. Shuffle In C will never be the same. Rest In Peace Dusty. You will be missed.
This classic is now 50 years old and sounds just as good as when it was new. It's more popular now than when it was new.
Dusty Hill added a signature sound to ZZ and helped carry the stage with Billy. RIP, SIR.
We are all saddened to have learned in the last few minutes that Dusty Hill had passed away. Legions of people that have listened to ZZ Top over the decades while listening to the sounds of the famed Blues Shuffle in C. Rest in peace Dusty Hill.
MY DAD ASKED ME TO PLAY THIS SONG AT HIS FUNERAL AND I DID IT. I LOVE YOU DADDY. ROCK WITH THE STARS!!!
You are good son

I'm very sorry about your dad's departure, he knew about good music.

This video just showed the effortless genius of ZZ, and now never to be replicated, I am totally devastated . I have not watched a ZZ video for some time, but for what ever reason kept watching this particular video 2 or 3 times a day for the last week , maybe it was a sign of sad things to come. I feel genuinely upset at dusty passing this evening, and sure everyone here in the UK will also 😢
Absolutely Agree with Everything you said! Definitely a Very Sad day here in Kentucky USA, too!!!
I too watched over and over. Superior documentary
Billy Gibbons had a background in art. I think this is the reason that ZZ Top was the most visually appealing band ever. Every stich of clothing, hat, coat, sunglasses they wore, was for impact and part of the show. Even their guitars.
It was/is absolute brilliance. These guys wrote the book on cool.
@@Rich-kp1eu Absolutely bang on with your comment , these guys are purely enigmatic and coooolll ...... R.I.P. Dusty , from another English fan .
"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.”

I love ZZ Top they are one awesome band, with killer tunes 🎉🎉
Ce morceau, je l'ai écouté je ne sais combien de fois, avec toujours autant de plaisir.
Its like Dusty, Billy and Frank are just there as they let the Bass, Lead and Drums continually chatter to each other throughout and belt out pure magic! The players movements are respectful to the sound, they don't try to enhance or control it.
Simple, tight and timeless...This endless boogie has been played by every bar band, garage band, jam session at one time or another from sea to shining sea and across Planet Earth...and it never gets old to me either...
And first of all by John Lee Hooker...Boogie Chillun' 😂😂
Spyder Logan ; yep.thats amazing that you know something is going to come up in this jam that you haven't heard before.
Well said!
I played this one yesterday at a party. Everyone goes crazy
Tight?
Proves you don't need a two million dollar budget to make a great music video. Still rocks after all these years!
Saw them live at the Spectrum in 1976. Was thinking of how many thousands of times they played this and if they ever got tired of it and then I thought of all the thousands of times I have played La Grange at live shows and other events. I realized that they will never get tired of playing La Grange. Long live ZZ Top.
If the dictionary needs an example next to the word “cool,” these guys better be the ones. RIP Dusty, glad I got to see you perform.
Billy, Dusty and Frank are the epitome of cool.... Fell in love with them in the 70's and still hooked.. Thanks guys for all the great music....

Such an underrated band, meaning people never understand why I so vibe to these guys. The summum of Texas Blues.
This song is just perfect. Drums, guitar, bass... just perfection.
I happened to be at Gruene Hall the weekend they recorded this. I loitered around until Billy was kind of by himself. I came up to him, introduced myself and told him "Me and ALL my friends have been jamming to you since Rio Grande Mud and I just wanted to say thanks for all the great music all these years". He shook my hand and said 'That is the best thing I could ever hear". What a gentleman.

One of the most recognizable songs, simple but sooo good. I've always admired ZZ Top for their great sound. Even though there are just three instruments the sound has a lot of depth.

Ne t'inquiètes pas, les bon le savent
YES! Like Ringo Starr, both underrated and amazing drummers!
I love Frank and Ringo for being consistent, getting the groove right and giving each song what it needs.
Right now there are many "drummers" on social networks who give their opinion and play acrobatically "which makes it look easy" but who have not created anything, they only learned to play a song acrobatically but they do not make music, they are not in a band and only They criticize the work of others. Classic losers...
He plays fantastic!!!
i bought drums again because of him! thx!
It's not really the right piece to judge especially since it makes a huge blunder at 3:02 by missing the break and shifting the beat... It happens... Good for drummers the shuffle is a somewhat difficult rhythm, it requires a little coordination and nuance. I like him he's good.
ROCK NEVER DIES. IT GETS STRONGER🌹❤️
Omg I just love this tune!!!

I can't even imagine how badass that would be. To be in that venue and seeing them . It'd be just like being on the stage. So fucking awesome!!
Frank Beard, the only member of ZZ Top with no beard!
Can't fault thee. My Daughter we're brought up with guns and roses.
And the only three members who have always been the only three.
This reminds me of a line I heard in "The Buddy Holly" story years ago that you can't be a successful band with just two guitars and a drum. These guys turned the world upside down with two guitars and a drum! I have been a fan since I first heard this song in the early 70's. I remember being in a dress shop with my girlfriend in the early 80's and they had a stereo system that was playing music throughout the store and Tube Snake Boogie came on and it stopped me in my tracks. I didn't know the song, but that sound was unmistakable.
Hard to find any other band that stuck together for 50 years with no memberchanges... Says a lot of their love for music and not much else!
A perfect blend of great talent is ZZTop!!!
Simply the best!
Finally there’s a shot of Frank Beard playing the intro. This has long been debated amongst us drummers. Yeah these guys are badass.
I've never heard drumming so tight yet seen it done by someone so relaxed. Amazing.
What was the debate ‘bout?

I like all kinds of bands, from blues to southern rock, rock, hard rock to classic metal, but you know I could hear ZZTop 10 million times and I still wouldn't be sick of them, Billy has the sound!
I saw ZZ Top play on their first tour to NY promoting their Album,. this was the big song. They played in the Felt Forum underneath Madison Square Garden. They played this during the show and again for the encore. Everyone was revved up and called them back for a 3rd encore. But then with the whole crowd yelling ZZ Top and stomping on their seats etc,.,. someone threw a cherry bomb up onto the stage and I think the Mic's were still on it sounded like a big bomb had gone off,. the Band Ran back on stage not expecting a 3rd encore but had no songs left,. They Said I guess you can't leave until Sunday Morning lol and they did a number of Johnny Cash songs. It was really memorable.
@Rolling Stony Just a minor correction for the record...The first documented instance of ZZ playing at Felt Forum was May 23, 1975 which would've been the Fandango! tour. Fandango! is their 4th album. Very cool that you saw them at/near their first peak in popularity! I didn't catch on to their greatness until much later...like Eliminator time frame...but have seen them several times since then. Looking forward to the new Blu-ray!
@@Chris03121957 Yes 75 Felt Forum I was there that was the show. It all went down just like i said except I guess i had the wrong album

@@Chris03121957 The band said it was their first time in NY. After the second encore I don't think they planned on there being a 3rd encore. The crowd was not leaving without one,. I think they had played La Grange 3 times by then and someone threw something on the stage that blew up loudly,. I think it was a cherry bomb and the mic's were still on I believe because the sound of the firework going off sounded like a bomb. The band Came Running back a little disheveled and surprised and looking like they were afraid their equipment might get damaged. They said " I guess when you play in NY on Saturday night you can't leave until Sunday Morning and they did a few Johnny Cash songs at least 3 maybe 5 of them all Cash songs.
