Nice. The Fedor vs Coleman matches are also great examples of this rocking, swinging type of armbar that wrestlers, judoka and other head-huggers tend to expose themselves to.
Best MMA coach in the planet, That to me looked like a take down and then a sub there was so many little details I missed,, and you explained every detail and hopefully this will make me a better martial artist. Thank you so much
Interesting. I thought the key was rotating along your shoulders and kicking into the armpit, but clearly, you can't be balled up and on your shoulders until your completely underneath the guy. The initial rotation is created by clenching the abs. Great stuff.
the superman is a nice beginner core position to train, preparing you for this more advanced exercise. From the superman, you can rock to the left and right sides as an additional layer of movement
u talked about crunchs than siting up. In crunches we do not sit up, we are contracting the rectus abdominus (the middle part of your abs) only. Sit ups we are contracting those muscles as well but mosly (some would say 80%) your hip flexors (Tesor facia lata aka TFL, iliopsoas, ect). Ab crunches will help for armbars but are mostly a beginner exercise and also very good for people who have an excessive arch in their low back.
Thanks for the info. You're right there is a correct way to do crunches but I never use them and simply prefer the gainer / hollow rock exercise. I find it more sport specific.
Hi Firas, great video and invaluable information! How many sets/reps do you recommend for the gainer movement you show? Many thanks, I'm learning so much from this channel!
Abs recover quickly so this can be done regularly and almost daily. Once you get good at this move no need to do it daily anymore just maintains the ability. I like o do it after practice.
This is an amazing breakdown. The flat tire analogy really spoke to me. You have a genius-level understanding of physics analysis in martial arts.
+Max Loh thank you! very happy you are enjoying the channel!
dude this gotta be the most underrated chanel on youtube wtf?so many good stuff with so few likes/views?it's the proof that quality is hard to measure
How to armlock a wrestler and the most important exercise for grapplers.
hey firas, I would really appreciate it if you did some judo throws. Thanks, keep up the great coaching and videos, I hope to visit tristar or day
Thank you Firas, both for showing how to, and also, how NOT to do the exercise to avoid injury/wear & tear. As always, respect!

His breakdowns are sick. Top quality.
The UFC needs to pay you to do this during events and build ups!

Some exercises for MMA / Jiu Jitsu would be excellent. Definitely going home and trying the gainer position.
Nice breakdown. Thank You Sir.
Thanks Coach!

How about a part 2 with Fedor's Armbars on Coleman? Using the head as a base to go inverted is an important skill!
Good one. Thanks!!!
Thanks for sharing the genius! Appreciate it. Random question - What software did you use for this video? Thanks

I would comment, like or share, but I am already on the ground in the exercise, rocking to and fro
Hey Firas I heard you mention "Building the Gymnastic Body" on a podcast recently, have you checked out Christopher Sommers newer "Foundation" series?
Thanks for this video :)! How often do you recommend doing this exercise? Should I warm up before doing it?

Wrestler didn't control Shamrock's hips. It was main mistake.
